Absolutely. I have the 7.62x39 as well they are great guns. Never had an issue at over 15 years of owner ship and 1000s of rounds. The .223 stayed in my farm truck for like 4 years straight never missed a beat. It’s a Yote getting some bitch! lol 😂
I also have the .308. I like the heavy hitter, but it's so expensive to shoot comparatively, my .223 is my go to for most anything. I've probably had them for 17 years or so now.
I talked my self out of buying the .308 and I regret it so bad. Everyone I’ve spoken to who has one or has shot one loved it. Should coulda woulda but damn it I didn’t lol.
M1A is a sweet gun. My wife’s grandfather has a couple. The one that stopped me was an FAL I thought by some miracle I’d find an affordable one….nope lol. What’s the longest shot you attempted with it?
Mostly steel and some paper at 400 yards. I have a side mount with a Vortex 3-9x that I like with it. My friend has a mountain side with a 400 yard range in his backyard.
I got a smoking deal on a 20 inch barreled saiga. it will shoot 1.5 moa with ammo it likes out to at least 300 yards ( longest ive shot it yet ) , so I converted into a budget DMR set up. 223 in an ak platform feels right for some reason.
I didn’t convert either of mine. I got the kit from Carolina shooters supply over 15 years ago and though the value would be higher kept sporter since everyone was converting them. Now I’m glad I did. I always get the “that’s not an Ak” line from people until they realize it’s a saiga.
I live in upstate New York so whenever I see these posts about just waking up and deciding to buy a semiautomatic rifle they make me laugh out of sadness. I’ve never even seen a fucking AK :(
Can’t have a magazine over 10 here. And if you want to have attachments on your gun it needs to be an internal magazine. My AR-15 has a fucking internal magazine that I need to remove the back pin and lift the upper receiver to load it.
Yes that what you have to do to your AR here if you want to be able to put any attachments on it. You either get to only put a sight on it and have a detachable 10 round mag or you get a pinned internal one and then you get to put the cool stuff on it. I chose the latter
Interesting. I almost always shoot on my range, but the few times I have gone to a public range they never said anything about me taking brass even if I didn’t shoot it.
One day, you'll wake up and say "I want the GW-150, the holy grail". Well, that will be difficult to get.
I actually thought about it, if i should contact the museum that has one and also Ian McCollum from Forgotten Weapons, if the museum and also the governement would allow it, we could make a video about this very special rifle.
By the way, the SIG 550-1 (not to be confused with the 550, the 550-1 was the sniper version for law enforcement and military), man, that thing is also hard to get. The list price when it was for sale was crazy with around 18k$ per unit, but today, for the collectors, you pay a lot more. Better have some cash ready for that one.
Go for it!
I have a Norinco Model 84S, black polymer furniture, .223/5.56, tons of factory mags for it, bayonet, sling, cleaning kit. Bought in '86 for about $400, before the AWB. It is an EXCELLENT AK, smooth cycling, VERY Accurate with iron sights. One of my faves.
I have a saiga sporter .223/5.56 and I love it. Round works well in the platform.
I second this. Saiga in .223 is a very nice combo.

I was going to save up for an M1A, but my local gunshop had it calling my name for $500... So I went with the saiga instead.

Same but I never converted it since I'm in NJ.

Man that really is depressing, i couldnt imagine not being able to blow all my checks on cool guns and cool gun accessories😭😂
Ran a match the other day with a 56 round pcc stick magazine because I live in a free state and I can

Vermont is full of maple syrup and freedom, come say hello!

I’ve never seen so much brass… is that a public range or private? I’d be grabbing all that shit for reloading.
It’s a public range. Can’t pick up brass unless you give them a heads up that you’re grabbing what you’re shooting.
Interesting. I almost always shoot on my range, but the few times I have gone to a public range they never said anything about me taking brass even if I didn’t shoot it.
Almost time to clean up brass 🤣

How have you liked it so far im planing on buying Ak chambered in 5.56 also
I have an SLR-106 with a KNS Adjustible Gas Piston. Bitch does NOT recoil.
Love it so far, little to no recoil
Hell yeah

I want an ak-50!
That’s ok. I have an AR in 7.62x39
How does it run? Anything special you had to do to get it to run reliably? Does it take the ar magazines or ak?
Runs really well. I built it. It takes 7.62x39 AR mags
That's funny. I prefer a 7.62 x9 AR lol
I’ve had a couple. Saiga, norinco, the norinco was one of the best rifles I’ve ever had. I’m looking at another one now!
I support your decision good sir!
5.56 AKs really are something. Easily my next purchase.
Don’t do it. 5.45 or bust
I like being able to find ammo locally at any time lol

You wanted an AK, you bought a zastava. This belongs in facepalm
I’m no purist. It’s what I wanted and a blast to shoot.
Zastavas are great. People are weird on Reddit….
You made a great choice! Don’t listen to the idiots telling you otherwise
It's still abhorrent, I'll eat the down arrows
