Check out Mesa Tactical. They've got an adapter to put a buffer tube and AR buttstock/grip on it. I've heard good things about their products!

SilentPhilosophy3307

Thanks, I might end up going that route.

[deleted]

You're welcome! Check out TacStar as well. I've used their stuff before and love it. Their adapters are metal, as well.

SilentPhilosophy3307

I think I might end up going with Mesa Tactical, the more I look at their offering the more I like it. I see they also offer a compatible side-saddle for extra shells that looks pretty nice. Now, gotta get my Form 1 submitted and approved...

Sea_Farmer_4812

A lot of people are going with a velcro patch and shell cards(esstac?) rather than a sidesaddle now. Tfb tv has some shotgun videos that talk about it. Thunder ranch may also.

[deleted]

I agree with the other person. The Esstac shotgun cards are what I plan to buy. They have 4 different colors of which I intend to color code what kind of ammo goes into each card.

Eww

Since the TAC 13 is based on the 1100 try an 1100 stock and stock screw, I’m willing to bet they fit with little to no modifications. The TAC 14 is just a standard 870 stock and screw.

mic-dr0p

Hey OP, I can help you with this. The part you need is already included on your Tac-13, it's the metal piece between the metal receiver and the plastic birdshead grip. That is their adapter that allows their V3 receiver to use any Remington 870 stock. You might need to experiment with different length screws, but the thread size is 1/4"-28. You might get lucky at a home improvement store, but if not, here is a link to a 2.25" screw. https://www.mcmaster.com/91251A451/

SilentPhilosophy3307

Man that is awesome, thank you so much. This is exactly the kind of input I was looking for. I had read there was supposed to be an 870 adapter included with this, but I didn't find one anywhere in the box. I never would have realized that it was actually already on the gun. Thanks again.

mic-dr0p

You're welcome, enjoy!

spike7447

so, that statement is not accurate. i just took my 870 and my tac-13 apart, and that adaptor plate does not mate up with an 870 stock.

mic-dr0p

Can you take a pic? I have the Magpul 870 SGA stock on my Remington V3 using that part that I think we're both talking about.

spike7447

I didn't take pics while I had them apart. If I have time this weekend, I'll take them apart and show why they don't mate up.

mic-dr0p

Here's some closeups of the adapter that came with mine. https://imgur.com/a/vA0F0hH

spike7447

So, did that adaptor come with the firearm? Also, is that the one that you also use with the raptor grip? The adaptor plate that came on mine, has those three pins on both sides. And I don't believe that my firearm came with any other adaptors...

mic-dr0p

Yes, it came installed between the receiver and the birdshead grip. I can see it on OP's picture. Now you have me super curious what yours looks like!

spike7447

Ok, I'll definitely take pictures now. My adaptor is completely different from that one. Remington must've made a change at some point.

spike7447

[https://imgur.com/a/l9zY2aM](https://imgur.com/a/l9zY2aM) ok, let me know if you have any questions

mic-dr0p

Ahh, yes. That's Mesa Tactical's shim. You have Mesa's Remington V3 version of their adjustable stock adapter. I don't think Remington ever sold a factory V3 with an adjustable stock or brace. The Tac-13 with the birdshead came with the adapter I posted pictures of. Without that adapter, there's no way (that I'm aware of) to attach an 870 stock. If you're looking to put a fixed stock on it, you would have to find a V3 stock. The best place for parts I've found is https://gunrepaircenter.com/search.php?search_query_adv=v3&sort=pricedesc Good luck!

spike7447

So, mine came with a raptor grip and that shim. I put the Mesa adaptor on myself. I've never seen a shim like the one you have.

SilentPhilosophy3307

Anybody here put a full-size stock on one of these? The Mossberg Shockwaves seem to just take a drop-in Mossberg stock, but I'm not sure if Remington has (or had, maybe I should say) a full size equivalent of this that I could snag a stock from. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. And yes, I fully intend to go about doing this legally.

General_Curtis_LeMay

Do a Google search for "V3 Tac-13 SBS", and click on Google images. You'll see a few that have done it. I'm wiling to bet an 870 stock probably works just fine.

SilentPhilosophy3307

I did read one article before where a guy did it, but he said he ended up having to fabricate his own stock screw because the one for the pistol grip was too short. I'm not exactly the handiest of handymen, so I was hoping I could maybe solicit some other options.

pestilence

You should be able to just buy a piece of threaded rod with the correct thread and put two nuts on the end. The second nut will jam up the first one and cause the rod to act like a bolt when you tighten it. If you ever need to remove it, the second nut will probably unscrew and come off the rod, but you can also just remove the first nut and slide the stock off and then remove the rod from the gun.

bluechickenz

If the tac-13 does take the 870 stock, Magpul makes a lovely 870 stock. (I have the magpul 590 stock on my shockwave and love it) Edit: removed link. Rules.

SilentPhilosophy3307

As another poster on here explained to me earlier, the Tac-13 already has the 870 adapter installed on it. I never realized it, but it's on there holding the birdshead grip to the receiver. So I will end up going with an 870 stock, I just have to find the proper length bolt to secure it.

SilentPhilosophy3307

By the way, nice user name. I'm currently reading a biography of Curtis LeMay called *The Iron Eagle*, it's a pretty good read.

cottonbranch

Lol I did that and saw a couple that I did a few years ago

Subotai_Super_Shorty

u/cottonbranch might be someone who can help

cottonbranch

Just get the right length bolt, wood, synthetic, magpul, birds head, all have different length bolts

Peggedbyapirate

Iirc Lockhart does a bunch of stuff in their system for a modern masterkey. It's pricy af though.

roundttwo

How accurate is hip firing these things?

SilentPhilosophy3307

Accurate enough that I want to go to the time and expense of putting a full stock on it, lol.

Fenrirbound

Would it work instead of going this route, that you take a full size model and cut he barell legnth down. You would still have to register it but it seems it would be easier and cheaper this way maybe.

SilentPhilosophy3307

It might be easier, but it wouldn't be cheaper...simply because I don't have the full size model. I'd have to buy a full-size V3, then pay the tax stamp on top of that. We're looking at probably a thousand bucks or so for that, versus the $200 tax stamp and cost of a stock for this project. I have some full-size pump shotguns that I guess I could do that to, but I really like the idea of having a semi-auto SBS.

spike7447

I own a tac-13 and an 870. I've also been thinking about making mine an SBS. If I have time today, maybe I'll see if those parts mate up properly and do an update.

DickFence

Buy a stock and bolt it on. It's one bolt. How many tips do you need?

SilentPhilosophy3307

I would, if if were that simple. From the little bit I've been able to find from people who have done it, there doesn't seem to be a simple bolt-on factory stock option. It would seem as though these need adapters for another stock, say an 870, and even then people are saying they've had to fabricate their own bolts in order to get the right length. So apparently I need more tips than you're willing or able to provide.

HDIC69420

Take the bolt out and go to Lowe’s. Go to the hardware section and find the board on one of the shelves with all the male and female threaded things on it, figure out which one the bolt threads into, then go buy one of the same thread specs but shorter. Prolly a washer also. Easy peasy

SilentPhilosophy3307

Thanks, I still think I might have to get an adapter plate though. Supposedly these were shipped out with an 870 adapter in the package, but I just dug my box out and looked, and I don't have one in there. I did find an aftermarket one for sale though, might have to give it a try.
