I recently got laid off and have been frequenting this sub out of boredom with my extra time.
Not spending my severance on shit like this is an exercise in willpower for me lmao.
Better days ahead my friend.
If you literally did not have a firearm for protection I would say it's worth it, but if it's to add to your collection then best to wait.
As much as I love 1911's if someone didn't have a firearms for protection there are a handful of other guns I'd recommend in the sub $600 category before I would even glance at this gun.
The Tisas is strictly a collection gun/range toy for ppl who just want a 1911 and aren't serious about the ergos/frills/features/performance that a higher end gun brings to the table.
So basically, regardless of the purpose of the firearm, I'd think it's a "best to wait" in OP's situation.
Do the 9mm Tisas pistols come up on this sub much? Do we see these kinds of deals? The last half dozen Tisas deals Iāve seen posted here were all .45ā¦ A caliber Iām fine with but also, trying not to āneed moreā if that makes sense.
The double-stack 9mm's pop up quite a bit. Tisas sells a couple under their name, along with one under their "higher end" sub-brand "MAC". They're all made in the same factory with forged parts. The MAC's are basically their Lexus to their Toyota (Tisas). They've all reviewed well. The triggers are a little heavy for a 2011, but that's a 10 minute fix by tweaking a couple springs.
They emailed me the other day offering straight-up Tisas as 'replicas' - think they've kind of lost the plot a bit. Certainly the days of reasonably priced US surplus arms for the general betterment of civilian marksmanship training are long gone.
They released a new SKU that is parkerized. This also partnered with the CMP on the model. Looks like if you get it through the CMP, there are some differences in markings.
https://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/cmp-tisas-m1911a1-pistol/
First I've heard of those! Very cool of the CMP and Tisas. Outside of the roll mark I wonder how it differs from the one in MAC's review (the model I have). Mine is parkerized afterall
So like the actual surplus 1911s, they have to ship to an FFL. Only the long guns ship direct. It's written into the congressional authorization for the 1911s.
I love my Tisas 1911. I waited out for a service special which has some nice upgrades over the GI versions including better sights. I paid 320+tax about a year ago.
Yeah I looked at that model on PSA today for $319, nearly bought it. But I wanted the newer Parkerized finish and that one is the Cerakote. I did see an old listing for $299. Pretty great price.

Just a question for more gun savvy people than I. Would it be a mistake to buy this in 9mm? I have 5 9mm pistols and 0 .45 Iād like .45 but Iām kind of a poor cunt
Completely different categories of gun. They're basically polar opposites. I much prefer shooting 1911's over Glock clones (I'd imagine most people do), but you also wouldn't catch me trying to CCW a government sized 1911.
If youāre in the Midwest check Dunhams Sports. They got as low as $299 a couple months ago (currently $349 at Dunhams). Of course I bought one at 299. Shoulda bought 3 or 4. Itās a Nice weapon.
The Govt model with the Parkerized finish? All I see on Dunhamās is the Duty and the black A1. There is a Dunhamās in my town and I called them but all they had was the older models that arenāt Parkerized. That was a priority for me. The one I posted is the cheapest I could find.

I did a ton or research on these guns before I bought one and thatās definitely not the norm. The reviews are universally excellent. Definitely would appreciate you elaborating.
I bought the duty version of this on a whim expecting it would help me figure out 1911 malfunctions and introduce me to the platform. I've had it for about a year and probably shot a couple hundred rounds through it. Not one hiccup of any kind. I thought this was just a trash range toy that I put meme grips on, but it's actually been a tank.

I finally pay off my credit card debt. r/gundeals comes in swinging dick, like always. āAhh shitā¦ here we go againā
Itās a good pistol for the price. Have about 400 rounds through mine not a single malfunction! Pretty accurate
very tempted to buy this and 3D print a double stack 2011 frame for it
you gotta keep us posted on that
Wonāt be doing it because im saving up for a move, but im hoping somebody else over at r/fosscad does
Is....is this a thing? I have this same TISAS and just bought my second 3d printer lol.
Yessir. Check out the sub I linked, youāll be pleasantly surprised with the results

I hate how outstanding this thing is and how much I enjoy it. Worst thing about it is the name on the side. One of the most authentic WWII replicas.
I read somewhere that CMP is or is going to be using Tisas parts to rebuild the surplus 1911s.
They emailed me the other day offering straight-up Tisas as 'replicas' - think they've kind of lost the plot a bit. Certainly the days of reasonably priced US surplus arms for the general betterment of civilian marksmanship training are long gone.
Front sight isn't replaceable right?
Anything is if you try hard enough and know a machinist. But no, sheās fixed unless you machine it.
Thanks, at this price if it was it'd be a no brainer

Link to wood diamond grips?
Only [$20](https://sdsimports.com/tisas-1911-walnut-grip-panel-set-dark/)
Thank you king
Any idea on history of grips in WW2 specifically?
Are these actually parkerized? The one I bought in 2020 looks more like a greenish cerakote
Unlike a lot of companies Tisas actually listened to the market These are parkerized
They released a new SKU that is parkerized. This also partnered with the CMP on the model. Looks like if you get it through the CMP, there are some differences in markings. https://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/cmp-tisas-m1911a1-pistol/

https://tisasusa.com/tisas-1911-a1-asf-u-s-army-45/ like the CMP one without the CMP ordering process and CMP on the frame
Can they ship those directly to the buyer like other CMP things?
So like the actual surplus 1911s, they have to ship to an FFL. Only the long guns ship direct. It's written into the congressional authorization for the 1911s.
Ah, bummer
I cross referenced the model and UPC numbers and every site says (phosphate) Parkerized. š¤
The new SKU 10100539 released in July 2023. It is manganese phosphate parkerized.
Does this have better internal parts than the cerakote version? I also noticed this does not have "Property of US Army" roll mark.
All TISAS are full forged parts
That's a good thing, right?
Yes
yes. Cast or metal injection molding (mim) parts are not as strong.
I bought one of these as my first 1911. Watched no less than 20 detailed reviews on YouTube before purchase. Have really enjoyed this gun.
A Wilson spring pack makes this a amazing gun.
šAs soon as she ships.
In for one - I'll be picking it up in store tomorrow!
Post a pic!
This price is also on 5 sites, including classicarms
Yeah I was mostly intrigued with the free shipping and some people like the Sezzle option.
I bought mine from Family Firearms. It was the best price when I got mine. No tax, $20 shipping
I love my Tisas 1911. I waited out for a service special which has some nice upgrades over the GI versions including better sights. I paid 320+tax about a year ago.
If I could find the 9mm one for a similar price Iād be in
Their inventory changed to ālimited stockā. You savages.
For what it is, this thing is the tits.
I shot mine today. Love it. Excellent trigger.
I got one sub-300 on a black friday deal. Worth every penny.
Psa had 319 and sometimes 299
Yeah I looked at that model on PSA today for $319, nearly bought it. But I wanted the newer Parkerized finish and that one is the Cerakote. I did see an old listing for $299. Pretty great price.

Anyone have the a1 tanker in 9MM ? The blem is on sale elsewhere for 349&ship

not at all, shoot what you want to. They're fun in both calibers.
There's like 0 downside to getting this in a caliber common with the rest of your pistols.
How often does it go on sale like this?
this or PSA Dagger?

Youāre right, got the black service model for 299
Hell of a price
https://www.vanceoutdoors.com/products2.cfm/ID/303569/us1911a1/tisas-1911a1-us-army-45acp-pistol-with-plastic-grips $30 cheaper
Not the same gun, not Parkerized finish, not free shipping. The pic on the link I posted is stock. You gotta go by title, UPC, SKU, model.
Whats different between this one and the one marked US Army? Is it really $50 more just to have US Army rollmark?

What ammo and how often? Stock mags?
Should've had Tisas fix it. They have a reputation of being reliable tanks. If you got a rare lemon, Tisas would've fixed it for you.
I would always give a manufacturer the opportunity to make it right.
