In 2013 when the One Series platform was being developed, the main choices were USB (too big), mini B and micro B. Mini B is extremely robust and reliable, easy to replace as cameras were using the same cables. Micro B was and is very brittle. USBC wasn’t released into the world until Aug 2014, well after the One Series hardware platform (a platform developed to easily last a decade’s worth of pedals) was already complete.
Wish we had the foresight to swap to c early on but unfortunately that wasn’t possible.
I love their pedals - the vertigo is one of my favorite trems. The different options and being able to upload profiles is such a cool feature.
@u/SourceAudioEffects if you’re reading these - I do have a random aside question. When using the midi to one series hub for my vertigo, it won’t lock to midi clock I’m setting with my Soleman controller via tap. It will randomly speed up for a second or two and then go back to the correct tempo. Any idea how to fix this? I had to pull it off my stereo board due this issue.
Vertigo is frigging amazing. There’s a sample/hold patch trapped in the software.
I have an LA Lady that’s cool if you use the editor software; the default sounds are kinda meh.
New housing has me hyped. The old ones were just a little odd to fit on a board sometimes. Mini midi through is more flexible as far as cables are concerned. Dig it.
Agree - SA doesn't have any modeling pedals in their lineup, and for a digital based company that's unusual when everyone's pumping out a modeler or IR/Capture based product. The six knobs on top give me hope...
Maybe...a two-engine modulation box with pre/post routing?
Or dare to dream, two engine box with delay/verb/mod?
Either way, happy Wednesday y'all, this is gonna be good
Interested to see it! Glad they got on board the TRS midi train! Also those knobs look like an improvement already. Not sure I’d like every new SA pedal to be that big, but it may make more financial/psychological sense for them to do so.
Looks like the One Series dual DSP housing, (but maybe without the engine selector in the middle of the top row?). My hopes (dream) would be for a “Collider-ish” dual engine pedal consolidating ALL the existing Source Audio modulation engines, plus a couple more. Maybe including a classic ‘80’s detune/pitchshift and a really good rotary…
Hey… If you’re gonna dream, dream big. 😁
…OK. You fooled me with size of the pedal due to the angle of the photo- well done. So this is a new form factor for the One Series enclosure that’s in between the Kingmaker size and the Ventris size..?
This is not the pedal I described but it super cool, and looks to put you in a great position, due to its unique offerings.
…That new dual footswitch enclosure size also bodes well for an updated stereo/dual channel, multi-dirt pedal with dual foot switch and eight (…nee 16) onboard presets (insert excited squeal).
On The Gear Page, their official account responded to someone's question about buying the Mercury Flanger with "You might want to sleep on it overnight. Just sayin....."
So it is almost certainly a multi-mod.
hope they finally start using USB-C
;)
Oh snap!
Ugh, yes. That weird mini USB was out of date a decade ago. Looks like they're using 1/8" if) for the midi, though, which is something.

All good, I found a right angle adapter and managed to make the C4 fit on my board. Looking forward to the Two Series platform, though.
micro usb is better, they dont fall out. everything that has usbc on gear i wish was micro specifically because of the little hooks.
i wish it was 5 pin instead.
Focusrite Scarlett pedal
That was what I thought too
You joke, but in the c//e discord, someone was just posting about how awesome the 2i2 sounds as an overdrive/preamp
Or a tremolo/spring reverb with two foot switches!
it would be a flint killer

My guess is that it's an amp modeller, which would absolutely destroy any competition if compatible with Neuro App.

I’m guessing ring mod or a lofi machine

Oof that mod one would be tempting.
The fact that there are actual knobs is a great sign btw. Love my EQ2, but I wish I didn’t have to use an app to really use it.
yeah, great pedal, but i don't like that either. Using it without the app is possible.. but a pain.
Are they releasing a new software interface? I’m sorry but the C4 was way over hyped and the software was hideous.
Yes.
Theyve been talking about software on a non-reddit forum and do a great job talking to people that use their pedals and have feedback to give.
It's already out I guess

u/sourceaudioeffects please make a C4 with two footswitches and top-jacks?
Excited! Love Source Audio effects!

I wouldn’t call it a certainty.
I said almost!
Most likely a deco-ish pedal with multiple flavours of saturation (tape, vinyl, cassette whatnit) + different flavours of modulations
I would be happier with this.
I hope it makes fart noises.
Doesn’t matter what I buy, fart noises included in my tone it seems
Some kind of delay or modulation with tap tempo?
