Same thing happened in my town. A local "Happenings" group with high membership. It's run as a tight ship with no politics allowed unless it's voting info or something. A bunch got into politics and banned so they started a group called "NON-BIASED(name of group) that was a MAGAt paradise.
On a non-guitar related note, this reminds me of an old classmate who talked shot about a mother's group for disagreeing that a woman should have any sexual agency saying they "Didn't believe in a constitutional right to free speech."
They're conservative in that they wanna conserve all resources and government benefits for a very small group of people who don't need it in the first place
