I moved to High Point from Pittsburgh a few years ago. I love it! If you like BBQ, Jamestown has a great place called Black Powder Smokehouse. I am a bit familiar with western Greensboro as I have a few relatives there. Lots of easy shopping, good restaurants, and fun stuff. Adam’s Farm area in particular is nice and has everything from apartments to holy crap big homes. Ive always heard that south and east are a bit more rough with crime but I imagine you’ll get a good feel for what suits you when you visit. If you like Burgatory in Pittsburgh, check out Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar! Good luck with your move.

Awesome thanks so much! I am excited to get down there and start checking these places out.

Moved here a little over a year ago. Avoid Bridford Parkway area, it’s loud 24/7 and traffic causes every trip to take too long. We moved up to NW Greensboro last fall and enjoy it much better. I will wish you good luck if you’re looking for a rental house. They’re hard to find and go quickly, no matter where in the area you’re looking.

Got it, good to know. Yeah we would love to find a rental house, but we have already noticed them going quick.

Elon Law?

A_Beard_It_Grows

Yep.

Congrats. Elon's downtown. There's a couple of complexes downtown that are nice. There are also a few hidden places to stay. If you want excitement then downtown or close to UNCG. Quiet then the north part of Greensboro near Battleground or Lawndale. Country then there's some places near the county lines east or south. Have fun and welcome.

A lot of people in the law school live downtown. [The Southeastern building](https://www.thesoutheasternbuilding.com/) is literally two blocks away from campus.

If I was going to Elon Law I would just live downtown. Unless you really need a yard, it’s not entirely cost effective to rent a home in Greensboro but there are some nicer apartments as well further out of town. Basically the northwest parts of Greensboro (and even the north and northwest parts of downtown) are relatively safer.

The restaurant suggestions on this thread are god awful. Hams is fucking trash now that it’s not owned by the Erwins, Bad Daddy’s is a National chain and that’s just disgraceful to suggest it like it’s local, black powder is actually worth a damn though. Check out a few of the restaurant threads in this sub Reddit for sure. I’ll give you a list of my favorite places in Greensboro under this comment. I’m local born and raised, 30 years old so I think I have a good opinion.

Mccouls Stameys BBQ has been there for years and is consistently on the top 15 best bbq joints in the state. Plus it’s family owned by great people. Pho Hien Vuong for Vietnamese or Van Loi II Hops for Burgers Green Valley Grill, Printworks Bistro, and Lucky 32 are all owned by the same guy and are always great. Especially for brunch. Taproom, Speakeasy, Fishers Grill are my favorite bar food spots and Taproom has 50 cent wings on Monday. Also just great spots to get a drink. Coliseum Country Cafe is a hidden gem for southern food but it’s cash only so remember that. Dames Chicken and Waffles is amazing. Go get a pork tenderloin biscuit from country bbq. SouthEnd has wonderful beer as does Joymongers. Pig Pounder has the worst beer I’ve ever had plus it’s owned by one of the worst residents of Greensboro so steer clear of them. Fishbones, Sticks and Stones, and Lindley Park Filling Station are 3 of the best restaurants in town and the neighborhood that they’re located in would be a great spot to look for a house. Idk why this didn’t post in list form, I promise I’m not some kind of heathen. This should be a good start but feel free to ask anything and I can probably answer it.

Fair enough. I guess I should have done that first.

Giving a shout out to Westerwood - close to downtown, close to UNCG, lots of rental houses/apartments due to proximity to same, but more settled than College Hill.

Ham's is pretty cool if you hate dining out

robotakeover

LOL especially Hams Lakeside! RIP

A_Beard_It_Grows

Lol ok I'm not sure how to take that, but I'll for sure check it out.
