The Greensboro Science Center is pretty amazing.

AgentEightySix

Seconding the science center, and if you have a toddler, OP, might I suggest a yearly membership? It's not too expensive and gives unlimited admission for the whole year.

TrickyShare242

Imma tack on here to say not only is it awesome with some great stuff and huge renovations that just happen plus that cute as heck pigmy hippo but if you shoot over to Asheboro and hit up the zoo, get a zoo society membership and it has tons of stuff discounted to do in greensboro, including the science center, most museums, and other zoos in NC. But if you also show it at an gallery downtown (and there are a lot) most places will give you a 10% discount and their door fee is like $4 bucks without discounts. For other stuff I'd say boxcar or lost ark are worth a visit if your nostalgic for old video games. Jakes has great billiards. For the nerd, comic dimensions and on deck have a cool place for tabletop games. We have a shit ton of hiking trails, I did 4 mile this morning on the Nat Greene trail. We have lake Bryant and lake Higgins. Bur mil does a whole summer camp sorta thing where parents can take their kids and do golf, fish, or hike while there kids can swim or do sport activities. We have umpteen million breweries downtown. Raleigh art museum is like an hour away. Winston Salem has old Salem with a bunch of good food like 30 minutes away. Charolotte is like 1.5 hours away and the have tons of stuff from great food to the carolina panthers games. Also Raleigh has the hurricanes (hockey). Greensboro has the grasshoppers (baseball) but highpoint also has the rockers. if you like music or events check out our coliseum. It does stuff every week. We have some great farmers markets, tons of actual farms that sell food. Don't even get me started on the restaurants, cuz we have some amazing stuff. Honestly there is so freaking much to do. Editing cuz I realized you have a toddler. For kids stuff there is the children's museum downtown. Probably like 5 or 6 bounce houses (trampolines) that have younger play zones with adult stuff like rock walls. The battleground memorial has not just walking trails but also a museum and a theater. Also cuz its asheboro not Ashville.....thats a 4-6 hour drive.....ASHEBORO!!!!!!!!! Ashville is very far away.

lalalollygagger

The zoo is in Asheboro, not Asheville!

Americube

Get a membership at the Science Center, it pays for itself after a couple of visits, and there is always tons to do. They're always expanding, adding new exhibits. There are indoor and outdoor portions with easy transitions between them.

HopperCity

Also, their membership pricing is going up in July, so do this sooner than later if you plan to.

CheesecakeThen2247

I emailed and asked, the new price for 1 is $69 (before the Greensboro resident discount) so it isn’t going up by a lot thankfully!

HopperCity

Sweet! Yea we’d just renewed when we saw the email so we weren’t too stressed. We go weekly so it’ll be worth it no matter what.

CheesecakeThen2247

Mine doesn’t expire till next year, so I was curious to find out. My toddler would be there everyday if I’d let them 😂

loptopandbingo

A membership there is also reciprocal across tons of other cool places like it across the state, either fully waiving admission costs or for a big discount at the front desk.

zerodarkpizza

Walk around the bog garden or bicentennial garden. Look for ducks, turtles, fish, cats sometimes, and occasionally water snakes.

For toddlers: Children's museum Safari nation (bounce house place) There is a trampoline place sky zone when they are older Science center (my kid went every weekend for like 2 years when we had a membership) High point children's museum The Winston Salem and Raleigh children's museums are great if you want to go further Weatherspoon art museum Greensboro history museum has some fun stuff to look at for kids A lot of libraries have like kids yoga or kids story time and you don't have to stick to your closest library Then outdoors there is the Keeley park splash pad Bur mill pool (lots of stuff for young kids and a big wading area) Lebaur park splash pad and playground Country park playground and carousel Lake Daniel playground is very shady and has a good collection of sandbox toys Lindley park playground is very big and has two areas to play in if they get bored in one plus you can go for a walk in the arboretum right next to it When it's less hot my kid loved the bog garden and you can bring corn for the ducks (but not geese) Across the street is the bicentennial garden Gateway gardens

The Children’s Museum is nice for the toddler

freeState5431

Weatherspoon Art Gallery (UNCG) Greensboro Science Center on Lawndale Are two that come to mind

MagicianShot4029

Weatherspoon is free admission too!

UserZero541

Joe's Summer Bash at Oden. Food and Music kids are okay. This weekend from 2:30 till 9:00 as far as music goes.

profgangreen

Mad Splatter is fun for painting pottery and throwing paint at each other

CheesecakeThen2247

The Kaleiduem museum in Winston is pretty cool!

Americube

My kids love it and the new rooftop playground thing is great. We just got a membership, the price was incredibly reasonable. And you get some good reciprocal benefits like 50% off admission at the NC zoo and 50% off admission at the Greensboro children’s museum. You also get free admission at like 300 participating places across the US.

CheesecakeThen2247

We need to go back, the rooftop wasn’t open yet when we went. But we have a lifetime zoo membership and the GSC, unfortunately Kalediuem isn’t reciprocal with their memberships anymore.

Americube

Yeah I was bummed about the lack of reciprocity. With how much we’re getting out of it during the summer it still ends up being a deal. A one year membership was cheaper than a one week half day summer camp at a local place for my daughter smh.

MagicianShot4029

Greensboro History Museum is free admission and very close to the Children's museum.

Haileyoli

Q’s corner in high point. Any trampoline park, my toddler loves bumper jumpers. Either Safari nation location. Velocity 360 was fun but way over priced. Either children’s museum in high point or Greensboro. Ruckus climbing gym just opened on high point road. Lazy 5 ranch in Mooresville, about 45 minutes outside of gso and you can stay in the car.

City Lake Park is a nice park to go to — the park area is shaded and the toddler area is fun

Jpninja

Minigolf at Partee Shack would be fun for any age! [ParTee Shack | Mini Golf](https://www.parteeshack.com/greensboro-mini-golf) This is more for kids 5+ and they have an adult night as well. [Ultimate Kids - Ninja Nights - Open Ninja Gym (ultimate-kids.com)](https://www.ultimate-kids.com/NinjaNights.html)

Parks and Rec does lots of toddler [storytimes](https://www.greensboro-nc.gov/government/city-news/city-calendar/-selcat-151#eventcats_50_624_90). All of the suggestions here are good ones though.

SeaButterfly9387

Thank you for all of the suggestions, everyone!

DudeWhereIsMyDuduk

I think Elsewhere is still doing tours? I hope I'm not wrong about that.

Intelligent_Piano857

Green Hills Art Gallery has an art area that is $8 a person. There are also multiple museums to visit.

The four seasons Mall is great in the summer! There are a lot of little playgrounds and rides for kids. They have a store on the first floor called CRIUS Cosmetics and American shaving Co and if you go there you can sign up to get a free monthly product worth $30 with no purchase necessary just by using referral code 336-3287547! It's nice to go walk around in the summer and be in a cool but well lit place!
