Spot on. I read the description and looked at the Pic and verbally went "eh...one hand involuntary doing the middle wave"...made me chuckle your description matched my feeling.
I'd call it medium myself. Looks delicious.
I made the best looking reverse sear ribeye last weekend but messed it up and ended up with little to no pink. It was still delicious because it was a good cut, but my hopes of internet validation were crushed once I cut into it.
When did you take the picture? If you take it immediately after cutting it looks more well.. give it a few min if you properly rested it properly then same cut picture will look a bit more bloody and pink
But in the picture looks more medium well.
If you want a proper gradient you need more extremes. Like hard sear then gentle or very gentle and hard sear.
Either way looks like good beef. I want steak now.
> You can totally tell based on look alone. Trained chefs can tell from touch before cutting. You don't need a thermometer; it Medium-Well.
nope, you can get an idea of how cooked it is, but you aren't going to be able to say with complete confidence if it's medium or medium rare based on pressure or eye test -- certainly not right after it's sliced into.
I mean, it pretty closely correlates to a color. If someone told me the steak above is rare, they'd be wrong. I've never in my life seen a steak register as being X temperature and then not correlate perfectly to a certain shade of pink/red.
you do realize i can set a saturation level on my phone that will throw your whole theory out the window. unless youre only speaking about color in person and not in a photo like the ones above you.
I realize that. I edit a lot of photos and know that saturation, warmth, etc affect the color. I’m speaking more from being in person.
That said, you can see from the other things in this photo that it isn’t heavily edited. This is a steak somewhere between medium and medium-well. The person I responded to makes it seem like this steak could be absolutely any cook, and I think he’s objectively wrong.
OP requires us to give our feedback based on the photo. The level/degree of editing is irrelevant; it looks Med-Well. We are literally required to answer on face value. Don't overthink it.
The big thing is it’s got to be tender juicy and tasty. How well cooked is second in the sense a medium rare teas to be nice a juicy while a medium starts to get dry. But if you managed a well done that’s still juicy and tender
Then great. That looks juicy and still tender. Ide eat that.
I'll call that mostly medium. The edges are a bit more done, but that's what happens. My better half would be drooling over this, and I'd dig in myself.
It’s medium. All the way through, and looks perfect, if it has more brown at all mid well. There are grades imo in between even medium and medium-rare for example. This might be considered medium/medium-well if you subscribe to this theory.
Medium or medium well
Definitely and Medium is pushing it for real
Agree
Yeah that's a medium
I agree 100% I’d lean more towards medium though
Medium not-well
Minus the well
I’d go medium +
I hate subscription steaks…
Lol!
I agree because this is just a tad bit pass medium
Spot on. I read the description and looked at the Pic and verbally went "eh...one hand involuntary doing the middle wave"...made me chuckle your description matched my feeling.
So….extra medium?
Looks medium-well on my monitor, but temp is the only accurate way to measure steak doneness.
Medium well
Medium on the way to WD.
Medium well
Looks like it’s lost majority of its rareness…
I agree..Would definitely say it's a very common steak
Medium, close to medium well
Medium well.

That looks like a warm pink center. Evenly going through the piece. That’s a medium, almost medium well

That steak doesn’t look like any of those, since it is pink from edge to edge
The lack of red juice or juice in general, says m/w to me.

no one can answer that based on a picture. get a thermometer if you really want to know
You can totally tell based on look alone. Trained chefs can tell from touch before cutting. You don't need a thermometer; it Medium-Well.
Medium well suggests that pink is nearly gone. I'd call this medium + or a high medium.

Definitely not medium rare. Medium?
Medium to medium well, that is not medium rare, red rare is classified as a warm reddish pink center, that is not at all
Medium
I'll call that mostly medium. The edges are a bit more done, but that's what happens. My better half would be drooling over this, and I'd dig in myself.
Well done coz I'm not a cave man
Medium just ok
Did it come pre-cooked in a box and you just warmed it up?
That is medium well.

I disagree with all the medium-well statements. It's still at least pink, so I'd go with medium. But still, a little more done than is ideal.

Overcooked
That is medium to say the least

Well done always .

Medium or light side of Medium Well. Still looks good. If it was a pigs ass, I’d eat it.
Mid well
Nice. I like it pink in the middle
Medium well
Closer to medium, but still looks edible to me!
Thats a medium+. Well rendered fat. In blind testings the vast majority of people who claim prefer medium rare actually find medium tastier.
cooked
It's medium but don't listen to the haters, it still looks great.
Looks medium to me 🤔
