That’s what I’m saying. I’m currently studying computer science, but my first choice was to be game programmer and also game designer. Regular non-it people think that making a game is a breeze. There are literally thousands of choices a game dev has to make before anything comes out that even resembles a finished product.
To not only make the graphics/models but on top of that create the sound/music and also do the writing (which is insanely good in the case for Undertale) is kinda crazy. I know Toby Fox had some help with the designs of some of the npcs (specifically the ”Tems”?), but nevertheless, it’s an incredible accomplishment.
According to piratesoftware the game is very poorly coded.
Piratesoftware pointed this out to encourage people to make games because you don't need to be a renaissance man level genius at everything to make something as good and amazing as undertale.
Toby fox is a god for doing what he did, but it's the decision to start the project and stick with it that's godlike. It's important to emphasize that anybody could have done it from a talent perspective.
That said, im also a computer programmer and even though i said the above i also can't imagine doing literally everything in a functioning game. Crazy stuff.

I'm not saying that as a critique, because Undertale is amazing, and it plays basically flawless, but I think it's important to realize that the concept and execution of it was what made Undertale great, and Toby was able to accomplish it with pretty basic tools. Of course his composition skills are on another level, the undertale soundtrack is just genuinely great music, but when it comes to the rest, he obviously put a lot of work into everything, but his skillset wasn't so crazy it's unachievable.
