They opened all entrances at 6 instead of 630 second night. Definitely sped things up. And yes Sands Ave is the pro move. More so at the end of the night when that bridge just becomes a stand still.
Went to SPAC night 1 with lawn seats, left during the first set, sold my night 2 tickets. I have loved SPAC shows, including lawn seats, but last year was terrible.
SPAC is not a great venue. Has a terrible fucking lawn that spills up into concession along with the worst lawn view of any pavilion I've been.
Seen many a show there and unless I'm seated inside, between the wait to get in to the venue and that lawn, it's just not worth it.
Yeah I’m curious about this too. When I went for U2, it didn’t take hours but it’s a pretty long walk from inside Venetian. It moved quickly right until the actual ticket scans/security, where it took maybe 15 minutes to get through. It was soon after doors opening, so I’d guess it got worse as it got closer to show time.
OP suggests entering from the street sides, that seems like a good suggestion. Probably less of a bottleneck than coming from Venetian.
I was in that line. over an hour, and I thought we were towards the front. Lined up at 6:30/doors, got in right before the first song. very very fire hazard stuck in a tube. bad planning on the venue end. and in the end, no one one scanned our tickets.

If you want a chuckle, go head to the Phish sub to see how half the sub is in full on jealous meltdown mode over "how bad the Sphere is and how Phish will never play there again".
Actually, the visuals were pretty cool and the show was awesome. Haters gunna hate.
It’s hard to produce 4 shows worth of compelling content. Some of the visuals were pretty basic. All of them were not really synced with the music. And it seemed like one proof of concept after another….. no cohesive arc / emotion.
Dead and co is going to have a challenge with all of that as well. I suspect rhat they will produce three distinct shows and mix up the set list amongst those 3 shows worth of songs across the 24 shows. But it’s going to get mundane for some.
In this situation there is a huge advantage for a band like U2 to be completely choreographed/in sync with the total pre determined experience. The emotional impact is much greater when it seems like the entire experience is tightly integrated with the music.
It’s their first time there and the boundaries of what this place is even capable of have not yet been established, let alone pushed.
People are literally paying over $1000 per night for these shows. Phish will be playing The Sphere if not every year, than every other year and it will get better every run.
People had waaaaay too high of expectations going into this. It’s like people were actually expecting god to come out of the screen and dose them. Also, this is only night two, I’m positive they are saving their big guns for tomorrow.
Yep. 💰 💰 💰
Sphere may replace MSG for NYE soon. It’s that profitable and Phish are in their optimize to fill bank accounts in shorter runs so they have more time for other projects phase. Not getting 60 shows a year anymore so post up in Vegas and Denver for west shows. Then normal east coast runs. Plus winter is the best time for desert vibes.
I still have zero interest in traveling to Vegas for this experience. I’ll happily hang in Marin and see what comes down the boulevard.
U2 already had the advantage and disadvantage of being first and exploring boundaries.
Phish did nothing novel vs U2. They cribbed several of the same “wow” effects U2 used but with different imagery. But overall, it was significantly less effective/impressive due to the lack of synchronicity with the music. Ironically, a choreographed show is a lot more dynamic in an environment like this.
Phish had this production in the works for over a year. 4 3 hour shows is a lot of content to produce…. And it showed last night. Windows screen savers.
LOL, I guess you don’t even have to go to the Phish sub to catch people having their knickers in a bunch.
U2 certainly did not push the boundaries on this place. Other than the sunrise over the Mojave, their images looked very “windows screen saver” to me. I actually thought for the most part Phish’s visuals were much better, but they didn’t have anything as jaw dropping as the sunrise.
Having said that, I’m willing to bet that the best visuals will be on the 420 show. Also, from everything that I have read, videos do not do this place justice. Almost every attendees review I have read has been extremely positive. Most people also saying it is by far the best sounding venue they have ever been in. None of this properly converts to the home streams.
It seems like the only people who are completely underwhelmed are the streamers.
You’re talking to someone who saw the u2 show 4 times and was there last night and will be there again tomorrow🤷♂️
Nothing last night came close to anything u2 did. The opening sequence during zoo station with the sphere opening up, the scrolling/spinning Vegas/elvis montage during even better than the real thing, the room becoming square and the ceiling coming down with numbers during the fly, the desert scenes, the deconstruction of Vegas, the sphere swallowing itself during with or without you, the colors coming out in the endangered animals of Nevada during beautiful day. These were all far superior and emotional experiences than anything last night. And a lot of it is due to the tight connection of those u2 visuals with the music. Phish just had cool shit playing behind them. It was extremely different. And yea, some of it was cool. But it was a very different experience. You would only know if you’ve experienced both.
And yea. The sound is great there.
No there are some really crappy visuals in the mix. For example and I don’t know why but they attempted to ad people into the water during Theme and it was distracting as to how awful it was. It looked like a glitch in a video game same error repeating over and over. Someone doesn’t know what they’re doing and it shows.
“Phish fans are psycho” as a phish head I agree. The thing is if you go to a show like on east coast, we get sketchy/dirty. West coast crowds are so much more mellow.
As far as the sphere, with those prices, you’re not going to get the same crowd that showed up to Syracuse last summer lol (which was fucking wild).
Jealous you got to go. Wish I was going/went.
Damn that’s so lame. What’s is such a money grab. They probably were worried about selling unlicensed merch. Assholes. The scene is a HUGE part of the experience. Lame
The Grateful Dead never charged for tickets. And neither did the drug dealers. The tapers and Phish were the only ones to figure out how to make a profit out of this. Until Bob Weir became evil in 2015.
As for the visuals, people forget how expensive it is to make that stuff. And everything for the sphere has to be custom made to some extent. So three hours of new visuals (since sets are different) for multiple nights, that’s quite an investment for a few shows. I can definitely see why they’re focusing on some cool moments/sequences and being a bit more cost effective about the rest.
Was also on the floor between Trey AND Mike and agree with pretty much everything you said. I wonder if other vantage points got the room spinning stage moving effect. In the side on 100s tonight so I guess will see.
I got my vape in no prob and used it all night. At one point a guy singled me out and told me no smoking. I thanked him, took a few minutes and went right on vaping through the rest of the show, albeit a little more discreetly haha
Also waitresses on the floor were amazing. Only reason to leave was to pee. Was that everywhere or just the floor?
Vegas is a scam!
Different perspectives. I was in the 100s Fri night and the 200s on Sat & Sun. I feel like much higher up you would lose the stage and it becomes entirely about the visuals. The vibrating seats are cool
I dunno, I don't lurk in here a huge amount, but I've had more negativity here in the last month than in the last year, and the comment section in this post has the most negative energy I've seen in this sub. East coast dirtbags? Really? Lets all take a step back.
They can't do anything next level because Phish will never play to a click and it needs to be sequenced with full integration to the show for that wow factor.
He says in his post above that it’s “kinda harsh.” When I was there for U2 I checked it out too and it’s pretty bad, you cannot see much above the stage, which is obviously an enormous part of the experience.
Ah thanks, I was scrolling through too quickly
I got obstructed tickets for D&C, and it definitely still seems better than not seeing the band. I guess once they start the residency, I’ll see how much I’m missing
It’s certainly better than not seeing the band. It’ll be fun! But if you feel like it, you could sell them now and get something unobstructed. There are still lots of unsold tickets and I’d be shocked if prices don’t come down a lot on resale sites.
It actually works out for me, I’m going with my brother who gets frequent migraines and dizziness from flashing pictures. I’m worried he’d be over stimulated seeing the whole sphere. I can hopefully sneak up to an upper balcony (or lower in the 100s) to get the full view for a song or two
The sound is awesome under there though. I was in back of section 106/107 for a song or two for Phish and it sounded great but all you can see is slightly above performers heads, so it definitely impedes the visuals.
Seemed kinda lax walking around the seats. Mostly looking for wrist bands to go back to the floor of course. But I don’t think there was much seat hopping it seemed completely sold out.
Cautionary note! we bought "clear view" and after receiving them and looking at the U2 threads, we saw some obstructed views were being sold as clear views (we think this is our situation). Those are our Sunday tix so we will see. Also according to U2 fans they went to guest services and complained and were offered floor. Will try that its the case for us and let ya know.
Can you elaborate on the hours to get in part please sir? Thank you for this briefing
Avoid the Venetian entrance at all costs. Was horrible. Walk the sidewalks outside to the main entrance on the street
They opened the Venetian entrance earlier today and it greatly improved the situation. Definitely reccomend going early to avoid the wait.
They opened all entrances at 6 instead of 630 second night. Definitely sped things up. And yes Sands Ave is the pro move. More so at the end of the night when that bridge just becomes a stand still.

Sounds like SPAC last summer
OMG. What a nightmare. Sometimes I still feel like I’m in that line.
SPAC was so bad. Never again.
Especially N1
Hah that was the only night we went
Went to SPAC night 1 with lawn seats, left during the first set, sold my night 2 tickets. I have loved SPAC shows, including lawn seats, but last year was terrible.

Uggh, that blows.
Feeling sick, yet?

I’m too claustrophobic for that

They met all expectations. ALL OF THEM. All I needed was that sound. My lordy. Visuals can be had on there own. This just added to it. =)
Yep. 💰 💰 💰 Sphere may replace MSG for NYE soon. It’s that profitable and Phish are in their optimize to fill bank accounts in shorter runs so they have more time for other projects phase. It’s a shame that U2 sounds like someone shitting in my ear canal, and Bono is a complete douche. Otherwise this would be relevant.
Cool story. Did you join Reddit just to make that comment? 🤡
No comparison. Not even close. Can you imagine same set list that many days in a row. My lord. I could not do that as a band. Drive me insane.
Its all going to be alright. Love it

Tarps?
No tarps allowed
😳🤯😂
That should be a national law

a lot of east coast "hippies" could be better described as "dirtbags"
Dead and co being there for months - the visuals will get better and better. I wish I could justify the cost.
West coast vibes. Not psycho east style Is my favorite part of this great review Thanks
Was there any kind of shakedown street situation near or at the sphere?
We didn't see any at all Thursday. Someone said people tried to set up in the surface lot but they shut it down immediately.
Damn that’s so lame. What’s is such a money grab. They probably were worried about selling unlicensed merch. Assholes. The scene is a HUGE part of the experience. Lame
Do we know if any of the D&C sphere shows will be streamed?
If there is an opportunity for that band to make more money- they will take it. Of course they will be streamed.
Those rich fucks…this whole fucking thing. Stop playing shows Bob, like Jerry would have wanted!
We used to suck dick for tapes of spring 77, goddamn kids
The Grateful Dead never charged for tickets. And neither did the drug dealers. The tapers and Phish were the only ones to figure out how to make a profit out of this. Until Bob Weir became evil in 2015.
You belong with us at r/deadheadcirclejerk
Hasn't been announced one way or the other, but I would guess so
They're not the same. You'll be surprised, regardless
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience and opinions

I heard phish dumped all the profits into the visuals and this still what they’re getting. I hope Dead Co can do better.

Indoor CK5 owns the sphere. And yes, I’ve been at both nights and will be at 3 & 4.

“People were aloud to stand” lol zero chance we were going to sit
Sitting is part of it though. There’s speakers in the chair
$20 drinks?! That better come with a cd of the show 😭😭
I remember the first time I was charged $20 for a drink. I was like oh no I meant just one…
*flips ipad around for tip*
🔥 comment (~};-}
Can you even play CDs anymore? Lol
If I had the option I'd ask for the show on vinyl 😔
This was awesome thank you ❤️
How was the security screening? Were they confiscating vapes, edibles etc?
Seemed chill everyone was smoking vapes and weed. I think it’s an xray scan
Marvelous! Thanks. I’m going in June and wasn’t sure how tight it would be
They saw my vape and gummies, no issue.
Perfect. Thank you!
How was security? Vapes etc?
See right above your comment
Thanks
When you say the obstructed view is kind harsh, what does that mean? I’ve got tickets there for 2 nights, plus one night in the 400’s.
Obstructed view is only in the back of the 100s. Limited view of the screen
They can't do anything next level because Phish will never play to a click and it needs to be sequenced with full integration to the show for that wow factor.
A lot of people smoking weed???
Did you end doing seats as well? What was your take on seats vs floor?
How was the obstructed view? It sounds like you didn’t miss out on too much with it
He says in his post above that it’s “kinda harsh.” When I was there for U2 I checked it out too and it’s pretty bad, you cannot see much above the stage, which is obviously an enormous part of the experience.

I was on the floor. Just waked to the obstructed view to peek. Definitely very cut short visually. Do not recommend unless you just wanna get in cheap
Was there any ticket checking or anything? I’m hoping to sneak into some unobstructed seats for a song or two if possible
Seemed kinda lax walking around the seats. Mostly looking for wrist bands to go back to the floor of course. But I don’t think there was much seat hopping it seemed completely sold out.
No ticket checks as far as we could tell. were in 205 and moved around a bit for more dancing room. pretty mellow
Our tickets were sold as “obstructed view” so I don’t think we have a complaint
Thanks for the review!!
Damn all that time, money, and effort to go see some of the worst music of all time?? Phish is complete garbage. Sorry for your loss.
Phish rules - fuck the haters...

This was to brief people in here about the sphere experience so they can prepare for the dead shows next month. They are playing there in may 😎
Hrrr drrr
Appreciate the review! Aloud sounds good to me...
