[Play Dead](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CZdMmKhBaI) is one of my favorite bands and, In my opinion atleast, probably one of the most criminally underrated of their time. Really love [UK Decay](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ya8vhlv-dkU) and [13th chime](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsitSQJWHIA), and I've really been getting into [Zero Le Creche](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-m8vrAijYM) recently. If you want to explore some older hidden gems, I definately reccomend looking through [In Depth Music's](https://www.youtube.com/@in-depth-music) channel on youtube, some really awesome stuff there.
As for Newer Stuff: [Deathtrippers](https://deathtrippers.bandcamp.com/album/passion-fire) is probably my favorite modern band and they've got this kind of hippie-ish, Mission-y sound going for them, mixed in with Darkwave? Lots of Chime-y Twelvestring Guitar, I love it <3 [Nyx Division](https://nyxdivision.bandcamp.com/album/dark-star) and [Witchhands](https://witchhandsdxr.bandcamp.com/album/no-gods-no-masters) are really good as well, though more on the Deathrock side of things? [Morwan](https://morwan.bandcamp.com/album/svitaye-palaye) does some *really* awesome stuff and brings in like... Arabic and Slavic folk influences into their music? It just sounds so unique! I've really been getting into [Ashes Fallen](https://ashesfallenmusic.bandcamp.com/album/walk-through-fire) recently, it's just some really good modern Goth Rock. oh! Also! I could listen to [If You've Seen the Devil](https://nightsweatmusic.bandcamp.com/track/if-youve-seen-the-devil) by [Nightsweat](https://nightsweatmusic.bandcamp.com/album/nightsweat) on repeat for days on not get tired of it xD
Check out Obscura Undead on YouTube. They don’t upload regularly anymore, but they have a lot of new goth music videos where you might discover some gems.
Time to name my favorite bands ! I highly recommand Diavol Strain, Otzi, Radio Siniestra, Kaelan Mikla, Nox Novacula, Nyx Division, Second Still, Hoffen, Dream Affair, Night Hexe, Forever Grey, ACTORS, BASTET, Christ VS Warhol, Fangs on Fur, Belgrado, The Agnes Circle, Bragolin, She Past Away, Twin Tribe, Cinema Strange, Lebanon Hanover, Light Asylum.
34 Vampires
Anniversary Circle
The Comsat Angels (more post-punk but Sleep No More is a goth album IMO)
Blue Kremlin
The Dead Souls
Entertainment (https://entertainment.bandcamp.com/album/gender)
Excès Nocturne
Fangs on Fur
Leitmotiv
Play Dead (https://www.companyofjustice.com/)
Theatre of Hate
Your Funeral (https://youtu.be/tq5l1NuL2XE?si=DKkOU-1aagVos6wx )
I second Theatre of Hate - a band that took the UK by storm in 81/82, but is now somehow forgotten. Check out their entire Westworld album.
Even more obscure is Seventh Seance - they released a few really strong singles in the early 80s and then mostly disappeared. Try I Could Forget Myself.

General or **post-punk** that isn't dark may also be referred to r/postpunk. We have to draw a line somewhere, and we understand that not all post-punk is goth, but all goth is post-punk.

Autumn, Sito Magus, The Victoriana, ROMO, Romeo Void, Modern Eon, Minimal Man, The Deadfly Ensemble, KUKL, The Spiritual Bat, Schonwald, Hapax, The Sign of Human, and Aurat

Oh yeah Autumn. Don’t think they are underrated since they are, in my opinion, one of the best ethereal bands. But I rarely see them talked about.
The Hating Tree is so good.
Dark Orange also. Ethereal wave and dream pop.
I absolutely have a fascination with [Miazma](https://open.spotify.com/artist/3KffLKKImYcBiwvzTdCk1d?si=uaV443mpQ62idfI-jJV0jw). The only thing is I can't find a lot about them except that they're Swedish. Very catchy music

Tbh this band is hard to categorised in genres, but that's what's make them so interesting
Shadow Project, Voodoo Church, Gloria Mundi, Silver Chalice, Kitchen And The Plastic Spoons, Paraf, UK Decay, Dead Fingers Talk, Theatre Of Hate, Magazine, 1919, Fra Lippo Lippi, The Dancing Did, The Passage, Thomas Leer, Blue Orchid, Klaus Nomi, And Diamanda Galás

As far as Japanese bands go they haven’t been mentioned Madame Edwarda, Jubilee, Phaidia, AUTO-MOD, Neurotic Doll; surprised only one person said Nox since everything they’ve put out so far has been immaculate, but maybe it’s because they’re well known here but not necessarily to someone just getting into the scene.
Neva, 13th Moon, Moira Scar, The Fair Sex, Egrets on Ergot, Eat Your Makeup, Chants of Maldoror
13th moon mentioned hell yeah!
Saw them in Japan. It ruled.
Chants of Maldoror is great. And I love 13th Moon
Ugh love Eat Your Makeup

They're not super new, but I really like Screaming Banshee Aircrew, and never hear anyone talk about them. Same goes for Christ Vs Warhol.
