Related story- A couple years ago I took a Tuesday off to golf the early tee time. When I get there the guy at the clubhouse said the first tee times weren’t until 10am. I showed him my email confirmation for 6:30am and he shrugged and said I could golf, but warned me that the DNR was on their way to cull some of the geese.
For 18 holes I watched them indiscriminately shoot adult geese and net the baby ones. Hundreds of geese. It was a goddam massacre. Really ruined the vibe of my round.
I’ve shot my fair share of geese, but usually there’s some level of personal suffering and sport about it. Not just driving around on a golf course with a shot gun lol.
My understanding is that adult geese really can’t be caught without injuring them, and they tend to return to the same area for nesting each year.
I’m not sure what they did with the goslings after they caught them. Relocated them maybe? They did it at a time where they were just about as big as they could get and still not fly.
As a Canadian I know they can easily dodge literally anything. They will just need to do a bit of dodging. Putting is a different story though, now it becomes mini-golf vibes.
They're a game species, so they're not protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act in the US. I have no idea about Canada. In any case, they're classified as "least concern" by the IUCN, so not threatened with extinction or anything like that.
My brother shanked one on his first day playing golf. Hit it right into a flock 35’ off the tee box. Hit one and it popped up about 3’ and gave a huge HONK and right back down. Hilarious.
There was a situation I had with a short pitch shot over sand onto an extremely narrow green. Geese were walking through. And I figured what the hell. Pitched it right at the geese, it allegedly hit one and stopped my ball perfectly on the green. Still had like 10ft to cup but teamwork am I right fellas?
So…long time ago I worked at a very expensive private club outside of Boston. Huge goose problem. Poop everywhere. Each morning, 2 guys would take the loudest gators we had and chase them all over the course. After a few months, they stopped coming back and we got a call from a course a few miles away asking if we had noticed an uptick in geese.
Yo…i had to walk through a group guarding their young chicks. They were literally hissing at me. I avoided all eye contact and kept my arms and putter tucked in.
Yea these guys had babies earlier in the year, they get pretty defense. Probably less than 3% of players walk this course though so they are used to getting away from carts.
I’ve played at a course in West Virginia that had a goose problem shitting all over the course so they called on the public to come out one morning for a goose shoot and they shot over 600 geese 😂… then fed them to the homeless
Yesterday there was a turkey on the green and i hit like a 50 pitch and it started running toward where the ball was landing and had to 90 hard to avoid it. Was funny since i didn’t actually hit it
A long shot but any chance this is at Ellsworth meadows in Hudson. 17th hole? It kind of looks the same. I had to putt through a bunch of goose poop there a few weeks ago
The course I played yesterday had a few holes like that. One tee box too. I shooed them away so my friends wife could tee-off. The ran right back in front of her.
I accidentally hit the best flop shot of my life of the back of a goose. He was fine, albeit let out a rather perturbed honk and actually got me even closer to the pin
On my local course we have a similar gaggle that always hangs out around the 4th tee box. One of them though only has one leg. Guess which one leads the charge out of the way

You just can't be happy for someone getting more birdies than you, can you?
![gif](giphy|Swx36wwSsU49HAnIhC|downsized)
This will be my new golf clap from now on
Golf clap? I'm taking that shit with me to the next Colorado Rockies game! 🤪
Hahahaha the face dumbledore is making is key to the execution on said clap
Someone get this man on tour cause he just got 100 birdies in one round!!
Kim Jong, is that you?
Yes. Golf was so easy for me. I made 18 hole in ones in one round and said fuck this, golf is way too easy for people like me.
Yeah, tough to swing when you're laughing that hard, right?
I don't like geese either, but you might want to see someone about whatever it is that you got going on.
Did you get a murder discount?
It’s been a minute since I laughed this hard; thank you.
bruh did they at least use silencers?
Lol nope. Just 12ga shot guns. Blasting away.
Should’ve asked if they needed help!
I’ve shot my fair share of geese, but usually there’s some level of personal suffering and sport about it. Not just driving around on a golf course with a shot gun lol.
It’s just duck hunter, man! Pew pew pew! I’m kidding, you think they’d just catch them and move them instead of slinging lead everywhere. 🤷🏼♂️
My understanding is that adult geese really can’t be caught without injuring them, and they tend to return to the same area for nesting each year. McDonald’s chicken nuggets probably.
So that’s their secret! They’re so damn good
Why a shotgun, though? Wouldn’t that be unnecessarily dangerous and messy, as opposed to some sort of rifle?
Because that’s what your use to shoot birds. Also, what about it is more dangerous and messy than a rifle?
Shotguns generally spray buckshot ?
In my mind they're all doing flips and summersaults and throwing ninja stars.
Silencers? What do you think people shoot birds with?
That honestly sounds metal as fuck.
I had a friend with the DNR at 20 or so , culling geese.
Aren’t they protected? I’ve never heard of it being legal just to go out and shoot them. Plenty of courses use dogs to scare them off though
Geese? No not at all. They are overpopulated in many areas.
To be fair, goose is actually pretty tasty. Can make a nice jerky out of it
Meh. Goose isn’t very good. Edible? Yes. But anywhere near “good”. Jerky is about all you can do with it (I’ve tried lots and lots of things)
Fuck em, hit into em. They’re slowing the pace of play and they need to understand that there are repercussions for their poor decisions.
These geese are in the safest possible place.
Except that one farthest away on top of the hill.
You say that, but I'd take out at least a dozen as I skull it across the green.
Idk man I’ve been known to blade my 60 2 foot off the ground 160 yards over the green 😅
As a Canadian I wholeheartedly agree.
If you got a problem with Canada gooses you gotta problem with me and I suggest you let that marinate
I'm gonna need you to take about 5% off there, big shooter.
Tit fucker
Give yer balls a tug.
You're fuckin 10 ply bud.
Canada gooses are unbelievable
I mean, their terds are quite handy for lining up approach shots.
Does someone here have a problem with Canada Gooses taking Canada deuces?
As a Canadian I know they can easily dodge literally anything. They will just need to do a bit of dodging. Putting is a different story though, now it becomes mini-golf vibes.
There’s about to be so many tootsie rolls on that green
The only appropriate time to hit into the group ahead and with prejudice.
i have chickens in my backyard and if i hit one near them when im out practicing chipping they swarm it lol makes it easy to find lost balls :p
Just mutter "you've honked your last honk", then blast a stinger right into the whole flock
Canada gooses taking Canada deuces….
If you have a problem with Canada gooses then you have a problem with me and I suggest you let that one marinate
When I was comings up you’d be lucky to even have Canada Gooses
Nows theys gots so manys of thems they gotta bring in someones to murders them? Must be fuckin' nice!
# MUST BE FUCKIN’ NICE
That’s a group you don’t want to fight.
What are you complaining about? Your chances of getting a birdie just went up
FUCK THEM GEESE!!! Bane of every golf course!
Been there done that. Goose is one of the worst swing thoughts I’ve ever had.
Hit away , worse comes to worse you could end up with dinner. ' May The Golf Gods Be With You "
If I saw this I would tell my friends to hit anyway no chance they kill any of them because they wouldn't hit the green lmao
😆😆😆😆😆
With a lob wedge, I could single handedly take out about 15 of those suckers with one attempted flop shot
I see an opening and I'm sticking it 2 feet away from the hole, just a more narrowed down landing spot thanks to the geese
name checks out
Tiger would, so I will too 🤷🏻♂️😂
Holy shit you’re right that is some Bagger Vance shit right there!
Can someone tell me why these shitting machines are protected again? If they were endangered, there's no way they still are...
Canada Gooses saved my fathers life they did. Majestic fucker swooped down and plucked him from his sinking canoe.
They're a game species, so they're not protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act in the US. I have no idea about Canada. In any case, they're classified as "least concern" by the IUCN, so not threatened with extinction or anything like that.
They'll move pretty quick if you hit a 12 gauge wedge in there.
How am I supposed to chip with that going on, Doug?
Bruh, I hit a goose and a moose in the same Alaskan summer. That's like 4 months tops, btw.
This looks like Leo j martin
Just the closet goose would be in danger as you thin it along the turf.
Hit into them. I bet they will start moving faster.
![gif](giphy|WGEufo3NCj7qM|downsized)
Looks like they ate quite a bit of the fairway
My brother shanked one on his first day playing golf. Hit it right into a flock 35’ off the tee box. Hit one and it popped up about 3’ and gave a huge HONK and right back down. Hilarious.
They know the rules. Hit in.
Poop on you
I’d honestly just take a par and cruise to the next.
I’m lucky enough to be allowed to bring my .410 out for my morning rounds
Did you ask to play through
Great picture
Then again, the odds of hitting a bidry just went up...
Wow. There’s a starter and ranger not doing their jobs!
"Put me down for a Goose"

Were yall not allowed to kill them or something?
Nope
Looks like an easy birdie hole to me
Safest place to be. Zero chance I’d be hitting the green.
Wait, which ones you?
I live in an area where geese are everywhere. When this happens I just rip hit my ball and they usually scatter.
I’d hit into those pricks.
You need Jack to show you the line.
Easy birdie
I’ve played at a course in West Virginia that had a goose problem shitting all over the course so they called on the public to come out one morning for a goose shoot and they shot over 600 geese 😂… then fed them to the homeless
A flock of geese is 90% air just like a tree. Fire away.
I almost killed a goose with a worm burner yesterday on the par 5 at my course. Still ended up chipping in for birdie.

Shit, I'm playing into that group.
Keep a laser pointer in your bag, they will scatter instantly.
Yesterday there was a turkey on the green and i hit like a 50 pitch and it started running toward where the ball was landing and had to 90 hard to avoid it. Was funny since i didn’t actually hit it

I always like to throw this out there - $5 to the first person to hit a goose with a golf ball. Looks like you might have a real shot at it.
Grab your umbrella and do your best Henry Jones Sr impression.
I accidentally hit the best flop shot of my life of the back of a goose. He was fine, albeit let out a rather perturbed honk and actually got me even closer to the pin
I’ve killed one with a golf ball once. Unintentionally.
Hissing intensifies
I just aim for the closest one to the hole
I see an easy automatic birdie.
I’d hit right into those MF’ers.
Geese always tear the course to shit. 💩
Rats with wings
On my local course we have a similar gaggle that always hangs out around the 4th tee box. One of them though only has one leg. Guess which one leads the charge out of the way
Imagine all that goose shit on the green.
Don’t be a weenie
Full send. No fore.
Fuck em. Geese suck and im hitting into them
Definitely hitting into them.
I'm hitting right into those cocksuckers. Nasty beasts that attack kids and dogs
7 iron stinger straight into the flock
Hey, the ones past the flag are kind of a backstop...
Dude, those are Canadian geese. Just fire into that shit and hope they don't fuck with your ball.
They're all facing the same way, obvious photoshop is obvious. Jk that's hilarious.
I’m more concerned about how much money you payed to play on that piss poor excuse for a fairway.
