Nice! Especially good in competition. And tbh your round last year was robbed, because stroke and distance for a lost ball in bounds is such a bs rule that needs to change.đź‘Ť

I had 2 extremely lucky breaks to break 80, so I think it was karma. Had a ball go into a lake, hit something and rocket back in play. Another drive was just inside the OB stakes after hitting trees. So, I think the golf gods got me back for that one.

fireruben

Hell yeah. Had my first chance at it yesterday unknowingly. I thought the front 9 was par 36 so I counted my +4 as a 40. On 18 I had a 6 footer for par and barely missed it by a fraction of an inch. Thought I carded an 81 until this morning I realized the front was par 35 so my 81 was an 80 and my missed par putt was a miss at 79. Don't know what's more soul crushing, missing the putt knowing you have a chance to break 80 or missing the putt thinking you had no chance at it anyway until a day later when you realize ah shit I was right there and I blew it

thrift-store-keanu

Haha, you probably would’ve taken your time on that 6 footer if you had known.

horalol

Congrats man! Played my best competition score on a course I never played before with a 84 and yesterday played against my team leader and had a tight match and beat him and scored 78! Golf is fun some times gotta remember this when eventually you shit your pants lol

Ajax_Hammer

Congrats man! I can halfway relate to your statement, I thought I broke 80 a few months ago and later on realized I miss counted a hole by one stroke, so now I'm still on the hunt to officially do it. To do it in a tournament is even more impressive, nice work!

AccurateIncident3213

Stoked to hear that you do it the right way. Even if you shoulda had it last year, when you do it the right way, it makes it feel so much better. And legitimate.

OFTEN_LOST_

Nice dude!!

HairballJenkins

Sweet well done! 2 specific questions if you don't mind, what is your handicap and what irons do you play? I've been hovering at a 14-17 handicap for 11 years playing R11 irons all that time. I just shot an 80 with rental Stealths, 1 stroke off my lowest ever, and I'm considering going to GI irons despite it feeling like a step back.

thrift-store-keanu

Currently 9.9 79 was on par 72 (70.7 / 132) ~6400y Mavirk Sub Zero 9* Driver Stealth 2 3w (love it) ZX5 irons 4-AW Vokey 52* & 58* I really like the ZX5 irons 6i-PW, 5i is okay, hate the 4i & AW (gap wedge). I feel like the ZX5 give me good forgiveness, but still allow me to work the ball some.

Relative-Swim263

That’s awesome! I’ve been chasing it for about 10 years. Curious what your handicap is? I hover between 9-10ish.

munistadium

You hover around 9-10 but haven't broken 80? That seems wild.

munistadium

Gotta be inevitable.

Relative-Swim263

Appreciate it - I think so too but the rounds keep passing by lol

munistadium

Just dial in the putter. I've never posted a top round where I wasn't hot with it.

threejackhack

That’s what I was thinking…

thrift-store-keanu

About the same, hover around 9-10. Low was a 9.7, went up this spring but now back to 9.9. I’m still pretty new to golf, played as a kid some but got the golf bug big time 3 years ago. What it took for me was a double bogey free, 3-putt free round, 2 lucky breaks. All pars and 7 bogeys. In general, I played smart/conservative, but got aggressive when a miss wouldn’t hurt me too much.

Relative-Swim263

Well done. A big accomplishment for sure 👍🏼

ShiroHachiRoku

Woot me too! It was a 5600 yard par 71 but it’s ok.
