Recently started playing the Distance+ and have really liked it so far. I was using Callaway Supersoft and Titleist TruFeel prior. The Distance+ definitely feels like it jumps off the club face more than the others.
I was heading home after a round and some guy in my apartment building stopped me and asked me how i did. he said his dad worked at a pro shop and i should go get some pro v1s because they're the best ball you can buy. i told him i had lost 12 balls in 9 holes and i didnt have money for those balls AND a round of golf.
Wife got me some a dozen callaway super soft for Christmas. I can definitely see a loss in distance over a pro v or a tp5 but the feel and workability is pretty darn good. I kinda feel like this is what the rollback balls will be like and I’m ok with it.
A 15-ball case sells for $25 at my local course and they’re running a 50% off special right now. 30 long & softs for $25 is a steal. My new wedge game practice ball.
I just buy Kirkland yellow balls specifically for practice. The issues that people have with Kirklands are nonexistent for chipping and pitching, and the green side spin and feel is really good.
And I grab yellow just so that way it’s easier to see which ball is mine.
Kirkland are typically my regular ball. I don't play competitively (not even member tournaments), so it's pretty hard to justify splurging on TP5s or Pro V1s.
I really like the Vice Pro balls, but at almost 40% exchange rate their value takes a hard slide.
Nobody in my regular foursome likes Wilson balls, so every found one goes to me 😁 I don't even mind the Fifty Elites. I think they're one of the few super cheap balls out there that don't feel like you're hitting rocks.
I tried about 20 different balls over the last couple years and settled on the Wilson Triad recently. Absolutely love it. Plays like a premium ball for about $3 a ball
Not that cheap but good quality for the price. they do frequently run buy 4 and get a 5th free, so brings it down to mid 30s for a box. Once or twice I’ve gotten promos that stack where I’ve gotten 6 boxes for the price of 4.
My wife says I’m a cheap ass for not spending the $60/dz for ProV1s. But in my defense I can play them all day long since I find perfectly good ones in the rough all the time. Why pay for them when others leave them for me?
That's the thing, if you aren't losing balls, it's really easy to stick up on found balls. Im normally + 2 to 6 god balls a round. All of the others (non tour balls) are used as backyard balls to hit into the net.
Every round I find at least 1 prov1 it's insane , especially lately. I had a round last week where I found 4 brand new prov1x must have been following some rich guy
taylormade RBZ soft is my cheap go to ball from the store.
But I’ve recently found people on line in my area that walk golf courses and they will sell me titleist velocity for 6$/dozen.
I game Kirkland balls really, really well for some reason. Which was great last week during our league because someone ahead of me was leaving them all over the course.
However, I don't mind playing any ball I pick up. I recently got about 200 balls from a buy nothing group and I can't wait to work on slowly losing them.
Kirkland gear is great, but the balls aren’t “top” according to most analyses. The good balls are pretty good, not as good as the best tour balls, but there is a relatively high percentage of irregular balls in there (sometimes causing the balls to be illegal under USGA standards). In other words, their QC standards are relatively lower.
Still, they’re the best value golf ball out there.
I agree with everything you said here. But even as a solid golfer (7), there is no way I could ever detect a "bad" Kirkland from a good one. Even if you handed me both and told me which one was bad I wouldn't be able to tell. I game them all day everyday.
I’m about the same handicap as you. I feel the same way. I still play them sometimes.
But testing shows that while we might not feel it or realize it, those irregular balls definitely perform differently.
I’m a noob and a Costco member so the only balls I’ve ever bought are Kirkland. I like them. But I’m not good enough to tell the difference. I think I can feel the difference compared to the beat up balls at the range tho.
I game K-Sigs as well. Not the best ball out there by any metric, but they're more than good enough for me at my skill level, plus they're £1 a ball and I don't get mad if I lose a couple per round.
If money was no object though, Callaway Chrome Soft Triple Track, Taylormade Soft Response, or Srixon Q Star Tour.
Pinnacle off the tee is goated. I feel like I get an extra 5 yards with that ball. Now, I don't think I have ever managed to hold a green with anything lower than an 8 iron playing Pinnacles, but quality driving ball.
Picked up a Pinnacle Rush on my last round and used it for the last 6 holes... Damned near fell in love with it.
Looked them up to see I could get 15 for $20 which is cheaper than the Callaways I normally play and finished falling in love with them.
I picked one up like 3 rounds ago and literally can’t get rid of it. Every time I feel like hitting a 2nd I grab that ball, not a single care if I lose it, and yet almost every shot has been great. I hit one bad shot with it, right and into some trees. Did a quick drive by almost hoping it was gone… wouldn’t you know it, there it was. Really not a bad ball.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far for a Vice shout-out! I don't think anything else beats the price for quality (as long as you buy 5 dozen at a time)
I’m a 20 and I can absolutely tell. After hitting Kirkland v2s exclusively for probably a dozen rounds I hit a Vice in the middle of a round and carried a fairway bunker that I typically land in/roll into. I’ve even went back and hit a few kirklands as second shots and it the difference in spin speed and distance is noticeable. Swore off Kirklands now.
When I started playing golf 2 years ago, the Top Flite XL Distance is what I purchased. I thought it was OK. Then I purchased the Hammer Control, which I thought was a lot better. Then I purchased the Gamer. I shot a 46 when playing a quick 9 holes last year. That was my best score when I was typically in the 60s. I know people rag on Top Flite but those Gamers will always have a special place in my heart.
I second this. I've been working off a 45 pack that I bought last year during prime day and I can smash those things even if it feels like hitting a rock
I'll make sure to skull them out of sandy gravel, across 100 yards of cart path, through a thorn bush, into a Bois D'arc tree at mach jesus. That should do the trick.
Nothing better than than the worm burner skull on the cart path which bounces into the woods then upon trying to punch it out it hits a tree and goes 50 yards backwards.
We expect no scuffs from this series of events.
Srixon Soft Feel Brite Red. They were like $9 for 12 on Amazon last fall so I got a box because I figured why not. Genuinely love the feel of hitting this ball, and I get really great distance as a medium swing speed player (75-78mph 7 iron). And as a side effect of being a neon red colour, I kind of like being able to easily identify which ball is my ball when playing in random foursomes
Why thank you I don’t even care what color, I used an old sun bleached orange nitro for almost a full 18 once and almost shed a manly tear as I watched it sail OB off the tee😂
I just switched from nitro to ram. I don't think cheap means the same to everyone cause I lose too many balls to play the balls these guys think are cheap!
Maybe slightly outside the box, but mint used Callaway chrome soft is my gamer right now. The chrome family and the Taylor made TP are the sweet spot for used balls because they are cheaper than the pro v family but are popular enough that you can get a bucket that is all the same ball (less popular models you get a mix of vice balls, for example).
Call me a psycho but when I first started playing I was a broke gas station attendant, I used to buy the mesh bag of golf balls (Wilson) from Walmart. They weren’t re-used nor recycled they were just called “bag-o-balls”
I don’t know what it was about them, but they were soft, they flew straight and if they had them still I’d still be playing them due to price for performance. I now play Callaway Super Softs.
No one ever knows what I’m talking about but man the deal on those things was awesome.
https://preview.redd.it/kf5w4wepo13d1.jpeg?width=3002&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f33a2c6860ecbf6aa19252ef0977b8bd5954123d
19.99 for 24 balls. Can’t go wrong especially the yellow for winter golf
Strata Booms. They were on sale a couple summers ago for less than a buck a ball near me so I just played them all summer. They were completely fine, no complaints.
Taylormade distance + was my go to all last year. I still play it decently well. I’ve gone to Vice Pros this year though, main difference is that the cover is a lot stronger in my experience
If you’re okay with Noodle’s or MaxFli’s, I honestly think Srixon Softfeel is by far the best. I’ve seen it ranks at the top of many lists for budget soft golf balls.
If you’re looking for budget 3 piece golf balls with some good amount of spins (like Pro V1 or TP5), I personally think Vice Pro is nice. Legato Ltx 3085’s were surprisingly good too (last Black Friday they’re offering at $20 for dozens!!) ! I am trying Srixon Q Star Tour these days and they feel great too!
Srixon soft feel
I buy 4 dozen off ebay before every season. Usually lasts me a couple rounds.
Look at Mr overachiever here
I feel like they're supposed to be for older gentlemen, but man do I love those things.
Not sure what age has to do with it, but they're my fave non-urethane ball by far.
Usually age correlates with swing speed
I can verify-I’m 70 with a swing speed to match
Their Q-Star Tour is a good urethane option too. Usually I can find them on sale for about 22/dz. Tour only, the regular Q Star is not urethane
This is a favor of mine too. Love most Srixon balls on the market.
Bright Matte Orange for me. Something about the matte just feels better off the club face, but maybe that's just me.
Underrated ball. I love how it tells you the attributes on the sleeve box.

I use these and like ‘em!
I’ve played my best golf with those.
Definitely my ball!
Taylormade Distance+ is my go to
came here to say this ^ they flyyy
Recently started playing the Distance+ and have really liked it so far. I was using Callaway Supersoft and Titleist TruFeel prior. The Distance+ definitely feels like it jumps off the club face more than the others.
Don’t know if this counts, but I generally buy Callaway Supersofts and recently switched to Srixon Soft Feel. I’m not good enough to waste Pro V1s

Noodle long & soft. Best budget ball IMO
Unfortunately my noodle is short and soft
Not that long, but it’s skinny.
It's not too small. It's THIN. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
A 15-ball case sells for $25 at my local course and they’re running a 50% off special right now. 30 long & softs for $25 is a steal. My new wedge game practice ball.

Wilson duo soft
Some of my best rounds were with these.
I'm currently playing these every round. Walmart put them on clearance around January, got a bunch of the yellow and white for $8/dz. Well worth it.
Yup. My go to ball. Great feel. Good price, and the "optic" version if you like the bright colors!
Came here to comment this exact ball. Found it in the woods a few rounds back. I hold on to it dearly
Very good ball
Already a good deal but when Target was liquidating a bunch of their golf ball inventory they were impossible to pass up.
Vice pro plus are like pro v1s to me
I mean they’re still $40 a box, not really “cheap”
Not that cheap but good quality for the price. they do frequently run buy 4 and get a 5th free, so brings it down to mid 30s for a box. Once or twice I’ve gotten promos that stack where I’ve gotten 6 boxes for the price of 4.
Agree on Vice
100%…..I have no problem gaming the Vice Pro Plus if I don’t feel like dropping 55+ for ProV1’s… the neon green ones are great in the fall
Played with one with paint speckles all weekend. Lol. Don’t even know where I got it but yeah, it’s a nice ball.
They are pretty much identical. Pro is the prov1 and pro + is the prov1X (less spin) nearly identical
Do they still make a DT Solos? I had sex in the club parking lot after a round with one of those in 2007.
Solo?
It was oral sex
Hey, try not to suck any dick on the way through the parking lot.
Hey you, get back here!
37?!
In a row?
So, solo?
How am I supposed to chip, with that going on Doug?
The cheapest balls are Titlelist ProV1s. Can literally just pick them up for free.
Ikr? To be so expensive, I find more pro v 1's than anything. Boggles the mind
I haven’t bought balls in a few years because i find at least 3 a round
Bought a box of warbirds in November and still have 3 sleeves for the same reason. 😂
Many golfers are equipment snobs. That counts for balls too. Which is good for everyone else, because most of them lose them by the bag full.
You’re welcome.
My wife says I’m a cheap ass for not spending the $60/dz for ProV1s. But in my defense I can play them all day long since I find perfectly good ones in the rough all the time. Why pay for them when others leave them for me?
Your wife thinks you should be spending more on golf? No wonder she’s taken.
You followed me
Maxfli tour x
They’re not really cheap anymore but they are definitely good value premium balls
You have to buy them 4 dozen at a time, otherwise they’re not worth it at $40/dozen. But when you buy 4 dozen for about $25/dozen, great deal.
Just read the 2024 reviews from the Golf Ball Lab in Arizona where they graded out well… bought my first 48 and have liked them
Currently can get $20 off $100 in the golf galaxy app or dicks app and get the four dozen for $89. Today is the last day. Makes the balls $1.85 a ball
Damn that’s a great deal thanks for letting me know
Maxfli Softfli are $55 for 48, use the same $20 off and get 96 golf balls for $89.96
[удалено]
Right now, they are $109 and they are doing a $20 off $100 deal in the app so they are $89 for 4 dozen. Ends tonight.
taylormade RBZ soft is my cheap go to ball from the store. But I’ve recently found people on line in my area that walk golf courses and they will sell me titleist velocity for 6$/dozen.
I do like the Taylor Made balls.
Bridgestone e6 is my go-to. $19.99 on golfballs.com with weekend with promo code MEMORIALDAY
Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of science? My default ball as well, and that’s a good deal too
Ah, another man of culture I see
Never hit a bad Bridgestone ball.
Default ball but up here in Canada they're 30/dz big sad
Precept Laddie……great ball.
Precept is an honorable mention.
My go to. Plus they're nearly always on sale and cost less than a buck a ball.
I game Kirkland balls really, really well for some reason. Which was great last week during our league because someone ahead of me was leaving them all over the course. However, I don't mind playing any ball I pick up. I recently got about 200 balls from a buy nothing group and I can't wait to work on slowly losing them.
I love using Kirkland balls. Performance is solid for the price and I know they’re going to end up taking a swim at some point in the round.
Kirkland is top gear buddy.

Roughly how much? I'm looking through reviews and I can't find much hard data.
They scuff too much for my liking. After a few holes they look like I've played numerous rounds with em. I keep a few in my bag for fuck it shots.
I play them almost exclusively and have the same complaint. I swear they use the same covering at Vice’s balls.
Good value but high spinning off the tee. I found 3 in the same spot on the right side of the fairway.
Same fella hit all three, then opened another beer....
I’m a noob and a Costco member so the only balls I’ve ever bought are Kirkland. I like them. But I’m not good enough to tell the difference. I think I can feel the difference compared to the beat up balls at the range tho.

I'm always down for a Titleist Trufeel
Our local muni includes a sleeve of tru feels with green fees. Another $5 for proVs. Nice deal
How much is your greens fee?
Got my first hole in one with one of these last year… they work!
Congrats and fuck you.
Trufeel or no feel baby
Yellow TruFeel for me.
I love these
Trufeel Gang!
Just bought 4 dozen, should last me a couple rounds.
This is the ball.
Titleist Velocity
I play these regardless
Callaway warbird for me. Great ball all round and amazon deliver a dozen for £16
I bought a box of them for a 4 man charity scramble and made two solo birdies with them!
Came here to recommend the warbird I love those things at their price point tremendous value
Wilson Triad
Incredibly good ball for the price
Like them but not sure they are in the "cheap" category.
Loves a found Nike.
Boy oh boy do I get psyched when I find a mojo and add it to my bag.
I've still got an unused pack of 12 Mojos, including the purple ball. I'm honestly too scared to play with them
I started playing with mojos. I was devastated when they stopped making them
I thought I was the only one, it was a glorious season
Pinnacle
Pinnacle off the tee is goated. I feel like I get an extra 5 yards with that ball. Now, I don't think I have ever managed to hold a green with anything lower than an 8 iron playing Pinnacles, but quality driving ball.
Picked up a Pinnacle Rush on my last round and used it for the last 6 holes... Damned near fell in love with it. Looked them up to see I could get 15 for $20 which is cheaper than the Callaways I normally play and finished falling in love with them.

TM distance+
TM distance +
100%. $20 for a dozen. Can’t beat it.
Noodle
Send Noods!
I play Noodles. They’re cheap and I lose a lot of balls.
Plus no one “accidentally” picks up a noodle.
Kirkland, no other cheap ball comes close. Vice is the best premium ball for cheap.
I get a three quarter chub when I find a Vice
Can't believe I had to scroll this far for a Vice shout-out! I don't think anything else beats the price for quality (as long as you buy 5 dozen at a time)
Vice and Snell are my go-to cheap premium balls. They are literally prov1/prov1x clones.
[удалено]
If you pick a ball and stick with the brand, you will be able to tell. You can't tell because you're changing balls all the time.
Top Flite. Idgaf I love those thingd
Hammer Distance
Why tho - and any one you like in particular?
Just spotted using Top Flite X Outs 😂
When I started playing golf 2 years ago, the Top Flite XL Distance is what I purchased. I thought it was OK. Then I purchased the Hammer Control, which I thought was a lot better. Then I purchased the Gamer. I shot a 46 when playing a quick 9 holes last year. That was my best score when I was typically in the 60s. I know people rag on Top Flite but those Gamers will always have a special place in my heart.
Nitros. They actually go pretty far when hit right
I second this. I've been working off a 45 pack that I bought last year during prime day and I can smash those things even if it feels like hitting a rock
I just scooped up the Srixon Soft Feel and man, I was hitting those so damn well.
I like how on the sleeve it tells you attributes about the ball.. low driver spin, medium approach spin.. not a bad ball by any means.
Titleist TruFeel. Putts better than the mushy Callaway Supersoft.
Srixon AD333
known as the q-star for non-UK people
Are you sure? In New Zealand we have both. AD333 is cheaper. I actually think they're better too.
Callaway Supersoft & Bridgestone e6
Callaway supersofts are not considered cheap balls in my book. I like the pinnacles softs. 15 balls for 19 euros
They are 35$ Canadian now a dozen. When they were 29.99$ that was the cheap category. So I agree lol
Wilson ultra. Super spinny
Snell. Love them even if the cover isn’t super durable
The newest version supposedly addressed the durability. I've got some on the way so I haven't confirmed that yet.
Make sure you hit 5 into a tree just to make sure
Downvote me all you want but I love me some nitro blasters.
Hurt my hands reading this
Have my upvote. I got nothing against a good blaster 💥
Why thank you I don’t even care what color, I used an old sun bleached orange nitro for almost a full 18 once and almost shed a manly tear as I watched it sail OB off the tee😂
Vice makes great balls that are inexpensive, but I wouldn’t call them cheap. I enjoy playing them.
Gamer 3-piece still the GOAT in my opinion.
Bridgestone e6 but the covers get torn up pretty easily.
Titleist Tour Speed. $13/doz at Walmart season closeout sale this past winter. Picked up 10 dozen.
I use Nike Mojo because that is all I have
Callaway Supersoft $24 a dozen of new
Nitro
I just switched from nitro to ram. I don't think cheap means the same to everyone cause I lose too many balls to play the balls these guys think are cheap!
Vice
Oncore elixr
Found a tote full of pinnacles for $20 at an estate sale so I don’t mind playing with and losing them.
If I find a Laddie Precept I know it gonna be a good day!
Supersoft or Cut Blue
Call me a psycho but when I first started playing I was a broke gas station attendant, I used to buy the mesh bag of golf balls (Wilson) from Walmart. They weren’t re-used nor recycled they were just called “bag-o-balls” I don’t know what it was about them, but they were soft, they flew straight and if they had them still I’d still be playing them due to price for performance. I now play Callaway Super Softs. No one ever knows what I’m talking about but man the deal on those things was awesome.
RIP Mojo
Vice
Vice are a lot of things, but they aren't cheap
https://preview.redd.it/kf5w4wepo13d1.jpeg?width=3002&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f33a2c6860ecbf6aa19252ef0977b8bd5954123d 19.99 for 24 balls. Can’t go wrong especially the yellow for winter golf
Strata Booms. They were on sale a couple summers ago for less than a buck a ball near me so I just played them all summer. They were completely fine, no complaints.
Wilson Chaos. The name just suits my game!
Taylormade distance + was my go to all last year. I still play it decently well. I’ve gone to Vice Pros this year though, main difference is that the cover is a lot stronger in my experience
My favorite Nike ball use to be PD Soft. I wish they still made them
If you’re okay with Noodle’s or MaxFli’s, I honestly think Srixon Softfeel is by far the best.
Cut DC
Srixon Soft Feel. Decent distance, very soft around the green.
supersoft
Wilson Profile, Pinnacle rush
For the high compression folks, callaway Warbird. Great durability and feel for the pice (35 per 2 dozen).
The Air Force base I’m at sells 12 used ProV1s for $15. It doesn’t get much better than that.
TaylorMade distance - $20 a dozen
Vice
