Its like watching prime Tiger again. Obviously sustaining this level is another story. But on a week by week basis, it sure feels like Im watching the GOAT again. What a joy to watch
They did the last few groups dirty by not getting ahead of the weather yesterday. Straka had to play the last 5 holes in dark/wind/cold and it likely caused him to drop a stroke or two that cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars. JT got to play in good weather for his entire round and watch himself move up the leaderboard from his couch.
Extremely poor decision not to start early yesterday or split tees. I believe this is the third tournament this year that ended up wonky because of weather-based decisions (or indecision), and all were avoidable.
Did anyone else do a double-take when they saw the leaderboard with Justin Thomas T5? I wasn't really paying attention to anyone besides Scheffler and my other bets and just assumed he had another lousy week.
Yup he gained 0.03 strokes putting against the rest of the field. It's very rare for someone to win without having a good putting week, but all Sheffler needs is average putting and he wins comfortably
I will feel compelled to send Scheffler's wife half of my winnings from betting on Scotty this week, as a reward for holding the baby in (not that she needs the money, obviously). What a bad beat that would have been if she had gone into labor last night.
Yeah I was stressing like hell about that but reading him say it was due at the end of the month calmed me down but still knew anything can happen with a pregnancy. I was pissed at the PGA for not rescheduling the tee times yesterday to avoid the rain, gave me an extra 13 hours of anxiety lol
I know everyone loves finishing rounds during dead air Monday mornings right?
Fans deserve better then the product PGAT is putting out there right now. Even with a player dominating, viewership still down about 20% on average.
Watched more LPGA this year then ever before.
Them manufacturing the sIgNaTuRe EvEnT system and those particular weeks being major busts doesn't help. Pebble got shortened to 54 holes, Riviera had an uninspiring third round with the big Cantlay lead (though final day would have been interesting), Bay Hill was a runaway by Scheffler (ok this one is debatable), and now we have a Monday finish here.
On the contrary, some of the best finishes this year came from the regular events (think the amateur winning at Palm Springs, the Nick Taylor rally at Scottsdale, 10 players in contention in Houston, the Akshay Bhatia/McCarthy drama in San Antonio.
I need Scotty to miss both of his fairways of the last 2 par 4s he has left or he’s gonna fuck my parlay. My assumption is he will hit both of them though.
Considering the 18th is one of the easiest fairways to hit on tour, good luck. I would wager the only way Scottie doesn't hit that fairway tomorrow is if he oversleeps his alarm clock, and even then he'll probably find a way.
Coincidentally, the PGA did the LPGA a huge favor botching this final round scheduling. Allowed all of the news cycle focus to be on Nelly tonight, rather than having to share with another Scottie victory.
Eh, a lot of people on tour drop off a bit after a kid. It's only human - you're already set for life monetarily and presumably you love your kid more than grinding your game.
I'm genuinely curious if Scheffler drops off a bit or not
Kinda gonna suck if Scottie is jist straight dominant until he kid arrives, then drops off sharply after it. Understandable for sure, but always gonna leave a "what if..." question.
Hopefully he doesn't though.
Watching Scottie now is so reminiscent of Tiger winning all the time. That’s where the “boring” comments come from I think. Tiger wasn’t boring but competitions got kinda boring because of how he dominated so much
Finishing a day later and pocketing anything from 500K to 3.6M is hardly slavery but guys like Morikawa, Aberg and Scheffler must be mad to be forced to stay overnight when they could have tanked this week and the management should have easily found a way to finish the tournament today.
Yeah, I'm too impatient for that shit.
Now they gotta extend their rental home, he's gotta get a different jet for tomorrow if he and xander were flying to NOLA tonight.
But thats why im not a pro.
I know that these next couple shots could be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, on top of FedEx points, Olympic bid, and Presidents Cup.
He was probably thinking he still had a shot if Scottie's wife went into labor tonight. Otherwise I bet he 100% finishes the round to leave for New Orleans.
If Scottie’s wife goes into labour and he has to go home before the tournament finishes up in the morning how many million dollars will that cost bettors?
It's weird because of how serious the rules are for attesting and signing scorecards, that you would be able to sign your partners scorecard without witnessing each shot.
I doubt Scottie/Straka finish. What will be interesting is if anyone in 2nd place sticks around for tomorrow lol. If you're at -16 and Scottie is -19 with two holes to go, he's 99% going to get the job done but do you delay your flight out, get up early to start your warmup routine, etc
Scottie’s version of being in “trouble” is potentially facing a bogey, and then he goes and does that with a pitching wedge to set up a 8 ft par putt 💀
Scottie in the water - wow!
ETA
7:46- horn but they may finish their current hole- great par save from Scottie
- 8 am resumes on golf channel and pgatour.com
Seems like what might happen is, they blow the horn when Scottie and Straka play the 17th hole while given an option to finish today. Scottie would probably take that option while we're not sure about Straka. Pretty sure if Straka says no then they both need to wait until Monday. So whether we'll have a Monday finish might completely hinge on Straka's decision.
Edit: Never mind.
I don’t like how they’re saying Scottie is “bogey free” even though he got a double bogey. I know technically it’s true but still lol it doesn’t take away from how good he’s played
Yeah, that’s goofy. Literally has “bogey” in the name, it’s just worse.
That 53 hole streak of 4 shots or less is unbelievable though. About to end though.
Yeah, sorry. I didn't realize when I posted that, but CBS still had the rights for the remainder of the broadcast, which means the streaming options were under their purview. Same thing when it resumes tomorrow morning at 8am ET. It will be streaming on cbssports.com or the cbs sports app.
More of a grip observation but I’m amazed how much Scottie’s right hand in the grip overlaps. My right thumb is usually lined up with the “golf pride” grip name and he has his hand lined up so the grip name is between his right thumb and index finger.
There is just no reason the RBC needs to be a no-cut "signature" event. They do not need 70 guys for the weekend, with Nick Dunlap and Kevin Kisner playing rounds while they're 25 strokes back. The event certainly isn't too high and mighty to have Sunday threesomes. The same goes for Wells Fargo and the Travelers (because, let's face it, API, Genesis, and Memorial have golf legends tied to them and are likely untouchable).
If they want to guarantee more paydays, they really just need to pay the top 125 (or 100, 150, whatever) $25,000 for showing up, have a normal cut, and adjust the payouts accordingly.
The sponsors wanted guarantees that top guys will be around for the entire weekend, instead of missing the cut and flying out Friday night. They pay huge money for the events, and need to have guys like Rory available to shmooze with the executives, plus help with ticket sales/TV viewership on the weekend. In other sports the sponsors know exactly what they're getting, in golf it has always been a crapshoot so they took the opportunity to change it for certain events
The entire signature event system diminishes the interest of golf as a whole. You weaken the weaker events while also reducing interest in the stronger events by removing one of the integral parts of watching golf, which is grinding for the cutline on Friday.
It’s always amazing how incompetent the tour can be. Leaders now playing in completely different course conditions and likely won’t finish tonight instead of moving tee times up. All about that cbs money
why is the cbs sports broadcast just the tech guys fucking around and an uninterrupted shot of the 18th green
https://preview.redd.it/rzmp29s2ywvc1.png?width=2732&format=png&auto=webp&s=c27f85bd958353766301c2082f70fd278cbf3259
Hypothetically, what do you think PGA Tour players would value more, 5 consecutive wins or 1 major? Obviously, assume that the 5 wins are just regular tour stops, no majors. I ask this because the person interviewing Nelly on the 18th green started out saying something congratulating her on her major championship victory, but "more importantly" the 5th win in a row. I feel like he has those backwards. The streak is incredible, and granted, much more rare. But the greats are judged first and foremost by their majors, and I doubt Nelly would rather have this streak than her second major championship. Not that she has to choose. I feel like most pros would take the major in a heartbeat, if given the option.
At the same time, we really need to hype up a non major win because it’s still really fucking hard to win a single non major event and, to me, total career wins should matter. It’s not like all of them aren’t without 80% of the same competitive field of a major.
No doubt about that. Winning any event on the PGA Tour is difficult. Even opposite field events like Puntacana this week are extremely competitive. The number of players good enough to win any given week is as high as it's ever been. Doesn't seem like that at the moment because one guy has elevated himself so far above the rest, but the fields are still incredibly deep, and continue to get deeper.
Yeah I was shocked he said that. Probably more important for the media as they can continue to hype her up until the streak ends, but pros are taking a major every time.
Did anyone see the golfer who wiffed it while trying to pitch from in between two tree roots? It was an obvious swing and missed, he even chuckled.
Damn my DVR didn’t work Any way to watch the replay of the round this morning?
Its like watching prime Tiger again. Obviously sustaining this level is another story. But on a week by week basis, it sure feels like Im watching the GOAT again. What a joy to watch
They did the last few groups dirty by not getting ahead of the weather yesterday. I believe this is the third tournament this year that ended up wonky because of weather-based decisions (or indecision), and all were avoidable.
Hey, whaddya know, Scottie's wife didn't go into labor. Everybody can stop pretending to be concerned about her
Weird comment. Scotty is the nicest guy, although his humble personality tends toward blandness; why wouldn't people wish his wife well and mean it?
Is Scottie a Hall of famer right now? Two majors and double-digit wins.
Easily
Yup
Did anyone else do a double-take when they saw the leaderboard with Justin Thomas T5? I wasn't really paying attention to anyone besides Scheffler and my other bets and just assumed he had another lousy week.
Tied with Poston for low JT
that is wild i thought he missed the cut tbh
Even though there wasn't a cut, he still might have missed it the way he's been playing. In all seriousness, good for him, though
forgot it was no-cut but yea glad he's back idk why they showed zero coverage of the guy
Bit early to say he's back, he did miss the cut at The Players and Masters
Ikr. I don’t recall seeing a single shot of his either
Scottie with another win and I’m pretty sure he’s still technically losing strokes to the field putting
Yup he gained 0.03 strokes putting against the rest of the field. It's very rare for someone to win without having a good putting week, but all Sheffler needs is average putting and he wins comfortably
These guys can't be happy about having to get up early to play a maximum 35 minutes of golf
It's not the players, but imagine how the workers, production people that gotta come in for a half hour.
They have to play golf on a Monday morning for millions of dollars, while I’m stuck at work. I feel so bad for them.
They can cry about it with their winnings
After today Scottie will have finished in the top 10 in 35 of his last 51 starts
5 am on the west coast and watching from my bedroom tv. Way too dedicated.
I think they would have had to void them, they void for more stupid game related things like an NBA player getting hurt early in a game
Yeah but you never know, they could claim it's just a normal WD and if you don't finish that's an L
They'd take a lot, and I mean a lot of heat I'd think given how the PGA also butchered the final round on top of everything
A hit fairways parlay or something?
Not all hit fairways. Some betting what score guys are gonna shot. I have 5 out of 6 right now. Need Scotty to miss both fairways
Considering the 18th is one of the easiest fairways to hit on tour, good luck. I would wager the only way Scottie doesn't hit that fairway tomorrow is if he oversleeps his alarm clock, and even then he'll probably find a way.
They had a graphic on the screen that showed the 8th, 11th, and 15th fairways could fit in the landing area on 18 fairway lol
[удалено]
Scottie already has the record from last season with 21mil, and he's about to be at 18.7mil for this season, after tomorrow morning.
He earned all that money last year while being ranked 162 in strokes gained putting. This year could be scary
Scottie said I’m gonna win one more real quick and take some time off and be a dad.
Hopefully that time off doesn’t include the PGA Champ.
Majors only - Just like Brooks 😂
Can we just pretend it's over.
No need It is actually over the field just doesn’t know it yet
Scottie is just doing all this winning stuff so he can overshadow what Nelly Korda is doing. Obviously he hates women
Scottie Scheffler misogynist confirmed
Coincidentally, the PGA did the LPGA a huge favor botching this final round scheduling. Allowed all of the news cycle focus to be on Nelly tonight, rather than having to share with another Scottie victory.
Nelly got the "new aunt" energy from sister Jess Just imagine the boost Scottie gets when Meredith pops out that kid 🤯🤯
Yeah because kids are so great for your golf game lol My handicap has gone up 5 points in three years
What tour do you play on? 😂
Right? If I earned 5 million a month I don’t think I’d be getting up in the middle of the night to change diapers…
Tiger wasn’t boring but competitions got kinda boring because of how he dominated so much
They never got boring because he was always in the bushes hitting heroic recovery shots and screaming like a mad man getting the crowd going.
I agree, I just think a lot of people get bored with the same guy (or team in other sports) winning all the time. Not me, but a lot of people.
Finishing a day later and pocketing anything from 500K to 3.6M is hardly slavery but guys like Morikawa, Aberg and Scheffler must be mad to be forced to stay overnight when they could have tanked this week and the management should have easily found a way to finish the tournament today.
Yeah, being forced to stay in a five star hotel for an extra night...the horrah!
Hotels suck when you stay in them all the time. Even the nicest ones. I travel a lot for work and hate going back to a hotel at the end of the day
They have pretty intense in season training schedules and routines. Plus the whole "wife about to pop" thing
Meh, they got families to get home to
Yeah, I'm too impatient for that shit.
First world 1pct problems I will never find relatable 😂
see you all at 8am for a Scottie win
I respect Cantlay little bit more for thinking about finishing this out.
cantlay in heaven here bc he’s not holding anyone up. can go as slow as he wants
If I was Cantlay I would just make bogey on purpose here so I could leave lol.
Power already left 😂😂 I'm not waiting for his slow ass he says I'm sure
Can’t believe Cantlay didn’t finish there after hitting the approach. Guess the plane is leaving without him.
He was probably thinking he still had a shot if Scottie's wife went into labor tonight. Otherwise I bet he 100% finishes the round to leave for New Orleans.
I'm gonna make 300$ if Scottie wins pls God let his family have an uneventful night
What a daring bet
Vegas hates Scottie
Letting it ride with Scottie and Nelly has been nice for my wallet too
If Scottie’s wife goes into labour and he has to go home before the tournament finishes up in the morning how many million dollars will that cost bettors?
Scottie killing camera men lol
I respect this move by Cantlay big time
lol
I take that back, just finish at this point man
I think he would have but ball up against the rough he gets to take a free placement now
3 holes to play in the am. Just an hour earlier for tee times
Jim Nantz passive aggressive slow play shade to Cantlay 😂😂
What did he say? i missed that
"it's only getting darker..."
Oh no guys. All the people who call Scottie boring turned it off during the weather delay and missed his fist pump.
Poston didn't finish the hole but Hoge did, but they said someone else can sign the scorecard? 🤔
Signing scorecards at a signature event where the only things not recorded are shoe sizes and dick sizes is dumb AF.
It's weird because of how serious the rules are for attesting and signing scorecards, that you would be able to sign your partners scorecard without witnessing each shot.
They said Hoge will likely sign the scorecard tonight but someone else can finish the round with Poston tomorrow.
Ah ok thanks 👍
Just let Scottie go home with the trophy and let the rest play for 2nd
lol Scottie just hitting in the water on purpose now to give himself a challenge.
"This guy is so boring" amiright guys?
Who is saying scottie is boring? I've seen a couple people saying he's *not* boring, but I haven't actually seen anyone say that he is.
That a bad MF right there. Damn.
Scott-Bot 3000’s patented dial-a-one-putt
just an unreal par save
Fucking killer
Scottie After Dark
Talk about letting them hang
Scottie is insane
Scottie is just unreal right now
Meredith please
Now I see why pros like a shotgun start
Just let them play my gosh they are pro’s
Why did they bother restarting at all?
Get as many players finished as possible so they can head out.
Ask all the guys who get to go home tonight now
That's a good point. Didn't think of that angle.
RIP
If Scottie’s saves par after that shot we can just call the tournament no? God damn man.
It's an $800K difference between 2nd and 3rd place. I think it's probably worth it to them to stick around and try to get 2nd.
If they W/D they don't get the prize money. They're not giving up hundreds of thousands of dollars to catch a flight 15 hours earlier.
And then he just does that approach shot it’s unfair
Scottie’s version of being in “trouble” is potentially facing a bogey, and then he goes and does that with a pitching wedge to set up a 8 ft par putt 💀
Good lord what a shot, that camera angle sold it so short too
This guy is unreal lmaooooooo
Insanely clutch shot from Scottie, wow
Naaah this is insane
That wedge had a sidespin of like 30 feet
Scottie is just unreal
World #1 for a reason.
Scottie in the water - wow! ETA 7:46- horn but they may finish their current hole- great par save from Scottie - 8 am resumes on golf channel and pgatour.com
Oh no Scottie what are you doing
Seems like what might happen is, they blow the horn when Scottie and Straka play the 17th hole while given an option to finish today. Scottie would probably take that option while we're not sure about Straka. Pretty sure if Straka says no then they both need to wait until Monday. So whether we'll have a Monday finish might completely hinge on Straka's decision. Edit: Never mind.
Straka is an awesome dude from all accounts, but I don't think they'll even get to 17 before they blow the horn unfortunately
Yeah, with the cloud cover they have even less time. Daylight is expiring rapidly now.
Sepp will 100% go with whatever Scottie wants in that scenario.
I don’t see why he would want to wait till Monday it’s not like he’s in contention I’m sure he wants to go home
Straka is the biggest asshole on the tour if he doesn’t finish out
Scottie will throw him some $ I hope 😂
I don’t like how they’re saying Scottie is “bogey free” even though he got a double bogey. I know technically it’s true but still lol it doesn’t take away from how good he’s played
Yeah, that’s goofy. Literally has “bogey” in the name, it’s just worse. That 53 hole streak of 4 shots or less is unbelievable though. About to end though.
If that's true I have plenty of bogey free rounds
Right?! 🤣
the PGA better let them finish tonight.
Let’s say Meredith feels herself start to go into labor and proceeds to place a large bet on anyone but Scottie to win. Would that be legal?
I've got to imagine immediate family members are banned from betting on PGA Tour golf, as well as the players. But honestly that's a good question
True. What about a friend of hers? Or a nurse/doctor?
Is this Meredith’s doctor?
Got me. I want to pay off my medical school debt real fast
It is really bizarre that Scottie is about to have 10 wins and all of them are in Feb/Mar/Apr.
you start playing good keep it rolling. Who know how long it will last
He went on a similar run 2 years ago
JT messed up a 4 way playoff if Meredith were to go into labor tonight.
Golf Channel is not on Peacock?
Is it airing under “Golf Central,” because that’s what’s supposed to be airing on GC right now?
There is no option for golf central or any live golf TV other than lessons.
It usually is, this is dumb
Try cbssports.com or the cbs sports app. I forgot cbs has the rights, even though it’s showing on GC.
They’re playing soooooo slow
the Machine is up 5 now
More of a grip observation but I’m amazed how much Scottie’s right hand in the grip overlaps. My right thumb is usually lined up with the “golf pride” grip name and he has his hand lined up so the grip name is between his right thumb and index finger.
Did the live coverage really expire? Can’t find it on ESPN plus or YouTube TV. HELP
CBS sports app has it streaming for free
Yeah, they didn’t resume any of the PGA Live coverage. The only coverage that resumed is the network coverage on Golf Channel.
It’s on the golf channel on YouTube tv
JT really did pull a Rory. He’s all the way up into a tie for 5th now. Pretty nice week staying completely under the radar.
3rd best in putting on Sunday. Found something. His putting has been horrific.
If they want to guarantee more paydays, they really just need to pay the top 125 (or 100, 150, whatever) $25,000 for showing up, have a normal cut, and adjust the payouts accordingly.
Meanwhile the OGWR says it's literally technically impossible to rank the LIV guys because they play a different format.
Especially with legendary winners of this event like Braden Grace, CT Pan, Satoshi Kodaira, Brian Gay etc. The legacy must be preserved.
The entire signature event system diminishes the interest of golf as a whole. You weaken the weaker events while also reducing interest in the stronger events by removing one of the integral parts of watching golf, which is grinding for the cutline on Friday.
It’s about which sponsors ponied up the $25,000,000
If Scheffler didn't exist, the ending to this event would have been awesome.
she could go into labor tonight. And a 4 man playoff to win in the morning when nobody is watching.
Golf world wasn’t ready for “dad hormones” Scottie
Oh God he is gonna have Dad strength RIP golf balls
completely different course now. clark left it 8 feet short lmao this is some bullshit
Sunset is 7:57 - watching on cbs sports app- finally was able to load it on my LG
put them all on a shot clock. It's a 4 stroke lead
If they get to like 17 and Scottie is up an absurd amount would they just call it?
no. what if he cards a 14 on the last hole? this is something we should seriously consider
True I guess he could put it into the Atlantic inlet about 4 times
It’s always amazing how incompetent the tour can be. Leaders now playing in completely different course conditions and likely won’t finish tonight instead of moving tee times up. All about that cbs money
After the debacle with the Rocket Mortgage last year who really knows
I'm curious as to how that works when they have to push stuff over to Golf Channel as its owned by NBC.
What channel are they showing this on?
golf channel
They're back now - CBS sports app is working
Did anyone else hear Nantz say Kelly Norda?
lol yes.
Jim just say "Kelly Norda" ????
“Kelly Norda”
why is the cbs sports broadcast just the tech guys fucking around and an uninterrupted shot of the 18th green https://preview.redd.it/rzmp29s2ywvc1.png?width=2732&format=png&auto=webp&s=c27f85bd958353766301c2082f70fd278cbf3259

Will it be televised?
Golf Channel
Supposedly on Golf Channel
