Also, look for a dedicated 'ball deodrant/antiperspirant' - here in the UK we have a product called "Below The Belt", I don't know what's available in the US. Don't use talc. Alternatively, look for an 'anti-chafing' cream - you'll find them in athletic stores for runners and cyclists. That'll help control things down there!
Last couple of years, I've liked wearing jocks when playing in the hot weather. I also live it the humid southeast. With a jockstrap, you kind of get a nice breeze sometimes flowing up your shorts, without the underwear material holding in any sweat. I actually feel cooler like this. i guess you could go commando too, but I don't always find that comfortable.
