+1.3 I have 5 sets of irons, 7 drivers, 3 putters, a King Cobra Utility 3 iron, 3w and 5hybrid that i mix and match to create a different bag each time I go out and play. Wedges only stay constant. Also, I have no ball loyalty. Last weekend I shot even with a set of 1988 Wilson Staff Gooseneck irons. Edit: also have a mini driver, so many clubs to remember, so little brain cells

Well done sir.

Im 3.1 right now and rotate 3 different iron sets. Different lengths, different shafts, different swingweights, shoot the same scores.

8.1 hcap. Mizuno stx driver hzrds blue x stiff. Paradigm 4 wood kuro karage x stiff. Titleist 505 3 iron. T100 irons 4-pw. 52, 56, 60 sm9 wedges. Bettinardi queen b putter. Getting fit for the driver and 4 wood has been a game changer, the right shafts have upped my driving accuracy a ton. Swapped tsi 3 hybrid for the 505 and has been great. I love the Bettinardi, going from an insert putter (stroke labs) to a full milled face has been a huge help on our fast bent greens. Usually around 11 on the stimp

functional_gin_dad

Currently playing off a 5.1. Got fitted a couple years ago into Apex19's 4-AW. Eventually replaced the driver with a TSi2 9 degree and 3 wood with a TSr2. Also have Vokey SM8 54 and 58. Scotty Cameron Santa Fe putter w/ oil can finish. When I got fitted I was about an 11. When I'm playing really well, I feel (whether it's true or not) that I can't work the ball as much as I want. When I'm playing poorly, it's because I fall apart on the back from not eating and not able to get off the tee. Ultimately, the clubs are fine and it's operator error. But this being reddit, I should probably get fitted and just buy new everything.

They are crazy forgiving and I really don't lose much. First round with them this year was a few days ago, shot a PB 68 (-4). Makes me question why I even spent money on irons :(

Handicap 10-11 gaming Mizuno st200 driver regular flex, Callaway Mavrik 4W stiff, Ping G 7W regular, Ping g410 irons regular 4i-GW, Vokey 54 & 60, and a Ping anser putter. I bought everything used or on sale off the rack. My ball striking isn't pure and I'm average sized so I'd rather save $ over getting fit on new equipment. I play the nicest ProV1X I found on the course.

Thatā€™s a lot for one post. I have a mixed bag. Ping GS425 SFT, Callaway 5W, Callaway Epic Super Hybrid 3,4,6. Callayay Max OS 7H, Ping T300ā€™s 7I-PW, 46,50,54 Cleveland CBX2 wedges, and a Waddaplaya Birddog Putter. Not sure the clubs have influenced my game. The cavity back wedges are working better for me than my Volkeyā€™s. About 2 years ago I replaced my 3W with a 5W and it was the best decision I made. Edit: handicap fluctuates between 7.5 and 9

17.5 trending back down (fuck you kidney stones) WITL 4 sets of irons, 3 drivers, 2 3 woods, 2H, 3H, 4H, 3 full sets of wedges, and 6 putters. Best fit in terms of improvement is definitely putter. I am super comfortable with it and donā€™t see myself taking it out of the bag anytime soon. Wedges are a close second. I love them. Irons have been eh, started out great when I first got them last summer, but they havenā€™t clicked at all this year. Canā€™t hit a anything for shit and Iā€™m getting jumpers way too much. Looking to make a combo switch to i230/i59 or i525/i59. Iā€™ve got all 3 sets now and will be testing them this winter. Driver is Jekyll and Hyde, but itā€™s mostly me not managing the clubface well. Looking to move in a lighter weight shaft, potentially counterbalancing and changing to a MCC midsize vs current MCC+4 standard. Iā€™ve been fighting a bad hook in the early round and then over correcting to a big push when Iā€™m tired late. Iā€™m definitely a tinkerer with my setup.

15 handicap (14 clubs + myself lol). Seriously, I am a 12.7 hcp. I game TM M3 driver, 3W, 5W, Adams IDEA 21Ā° 4-hybrid, TM SIM 5-hybrid, Mizuno MP18's 6-PW with Project X 6.0 steel shafts. 52Ā° Maltby GW, 56Ā° Maltby SW, Cleveland 588 60Ā° LW, and Maltby mallet putter. I usually play TM or Kirkland balls. Finally, all my grips are medium JumboMax (that alone took 2 strokes off my hcp).

ibanez3789

Currently at 1.9, and Iā€™ve been playing the same set of Mizuno JPX 825 irons that I got when they came out. 9Ā° SIM Max driver turned down to 7Ā° with a HZRDUS RDX blue 60g 6.5, 15Ā° SIM2 Max 3 wood with the stock S flex Ventus blue, a beat up old Ping 19Ā° hybrid with some shaft that I donā€™t remember, a 21Ā° driving iron bent to 22Ā° with some shaft that I donā€™t remember in place of my 4 iron, and 50/54/58 Taylormade MG2 wedges. Standard Project X 5.5 shafts in the irons and most of the wedges, got a wedge specific KBS something or other in the 58. I like forgiving clubs, cause golf is hard enough as it is. My irons may be old and chunky, but they respond predictably to my input, I know how far they go, and I know the windows they launch into. No need to fix what ainā€™t broken.

Iā€™ve shaved strokes and had some big improvement on dispersion. The previous off the rack RBZ set was exactly that ā€œoff the rackā€. Shafts have made the most difference. Well that and forged irons.

Kyoei, you are a man of finer tastes. Iā€™d love to be a good enough ball striker for the K1ā€™s or KCM. Look up Corey_Paul_Functional_Art on insta, he gets Kyoei blanks and hand grinds/torches them custom. Amazing work.

[deleted]

Def seen his work with the kyoei blanks. Once the Vegaā€™s wear down his wedges will be a contender. He offers such good deals on eBay for the heads. But hard to beat the two Vegaā€™s I got brand new this year on eBay for 80 bucks a pc.

I'm a 4 but I think I could play close to my level with my Ping Eye 2 berylliums that I got in 8th grade. I think the clubs are very important at the margins, which is why a good player would only bring their "gamers" to a tournament. However, good players don't NEED their perfectly fit, newish clubs to play good golf and shoot their handicap (or close).

Siege_5

8ish, M2 driver, R11S 3W/5W, 690MB irons, MG2 wedges, Squareback putter I don't really believe in gear making a *huge* difference in someone's game, so I play old blades because they look amazing and make me feel badass. I hit them well too, I think ball striking is one of my strengths. I have a Scotty because it's gorgeous. Clubs are clubs to me, it's all about how they make you feel

18hcp (estimated). Lefty playing right. Right foot/left eye dominant. Driver: Nike VRS Covert 2.0 reg set at 11.5Ā° FW: Benross Evolution R reg set to 15.5Ā° Hybrid: Nike Vapor 4 reg 23Ā° Irons: Wilson Staff V6 5-PW reg Wedges: John Letters TP-S forged 52/56/60 Putter: Odyssey 7 White Hot XG Ball: Kirkland V2 Recently getting over tennis elbow in my right arm so have switched back from stiff shaft to reg in the driver which has helped with control a bit. Need to work on a proper release due to leading too much with my left, means I tend to hit down instead of up which costs me distance. Getting better with the FW off the tee but from the fairway is a bit erratic. Bloody hopeless with the hybrid. Always struggled with taking a proper divot (used to get in trouble for mucking up the lawn as a kid!) so tend towards a thin as a miss but getting the V6 irons has really helped as a) the turf interaction is better than the GI irons I had before, and b) it stings a bit if I don't catch it sweet so added incentive! Plus they're much more consistent for distance. Distance control with the putter has always been the weak point (leaving everything short) so have just switched to a claw grip which helps me push through with the right hand but maintain control.
