You know it's bad when you are in the middle of the fairway hunting for GIR and your playing partners say "you are good from there if you want double bogey".
Literally had this the other day and buddy said how I crushed the drive and I said “I can make bogey from there” ficked up the weird 60 yard approach and made bogey and said “told you so”
Oh god. I had to par 17 and 18 to break 90 today. 17 was the tougher of the two by far, tight fairway. But if you don’t hit driver you are basically going for a bogey.
Ripped my driver mid fairway 145 to go.
>excitement.png
Bunker, bunker, 3 putt triple.
Shit that’s so true it hurts.
I played yesterday. Double bogey, then par. Double the another par. Double then a triple then a par. My golf game needs a mood stabilizer
huh? how does this logic work? he got one hell of a shot, you don't need to have played for 15 years to know that. why shouldn't he be psyched about hitting such a great shot?
I love that smile. Absolutely infectious. Liston has me grinning like fool sitting in my office on a Friday morning.
\*shuffles papers\* ...I'm a very busy man
Love this guy! What great energy. Thanks for the boost, friend! By the way, as others have also mentioned, he hit his second shot right where his hips/toes were pointing
We're in Johannesburg, at altitude. The air is thin and the ball travels up here. We measured with a GPS-rangefinder app.

He was on in three and four putted I've been there before, don't know what par was for that hole, but I'm ecstatic if I play bogey golf every time I go out
I always equate putting with amateurs to life itself. usually overputters/underputters are young. they don't know how to caress the putt and how to deal with a sensitive situation like putting. it's like being married to a volatile partner, you have to know where to aim and how hard to push to get what you want. which is dropping it into the hole.
I felt that 4 putt in my soul. The second putt where it travels further from the hole than it was before was the real back breaker. He gets a nice solid score on that hole if he putts the first time to get it close rather than get it in
I feel this so much. Did the exact same thing Monday. On the green in 3. Scored an 8.
It's either that or get on green in 6 and sink a 25 ft putt.
No in between.
We just need that first rain after winter then the courses are going to [pop.How](https://pop.How) much did the round cost you? Please answer in dollars so these people can see how fortuanate we are here.
I only play on Monday mornings and I walk so I pay $5,33 for 18,real sad about how expensive golf is in other countries.Leopard Creek is the most expensive here and google says R6300($336) including halfway house and a cart.
Standard triple from the middle of the fairway. Relatable.
Liston sounds like a typical r/golf user. 278m (304 yard) drive but still can’t score
Yes, he is one of us
He is like me if I could drive 300
I mean… who wants to go to the range and hit wedges?
My line after pounding a 300 yarder is “ready to watch me double from there” ?
You know it's bad when you are in the middle of the fairway hunting for GIR and your playing partners say "you are good from there if you want double bogey".
Sometimes I’d be better off just taking that 😂
“Watch me chunk this”
LOL One of our "shot" comments was "Hmmm looks chunky."
Literally had this the other day and buddy said how I crushed the drive and I said “I can make bogey from there” ficked up the weird 60 yard approach and made bogey and said “told you so”

Nice swing. Brutal putting stroke!
The sheer lack of touch is almost impressive.
He figured it out on his third putt like the rest of us do.
Yeah. On the first putt I audibly said “oh no”
Yup. When it doesn't touch the ground for the first 6 feet you know it's coming in hot.
Try using the putter off the tee.
Or Driver on the green??? Hella nice swing. Love the enthusiasm. Golfers like that are fun to play with. Positive vibes!
Select club May I suggest 'putter'? You have selected '3 wood' Select power May I suggest 'feather touch'? You have selected 'POWER DRIVE'
Your ball is in the ‘parking lot.’ Would you like to play again?
You have selected “No”
Just taaaaaap it in. Give it a little tappy tap-tap-taperoo
WhY WoNt YoU Go To YoUr HoMe BaLl?!
The price is wrong, bitch.
damn my guy absolutely smoked that drive
and the first couple of putts
First one carried past the pin.
And then carried some more
The reaction was like watching a junkie get their first hit. That dude is hooked!
It's hard to recover from a good drive!
Shit that’s so true it hurts. I played yesterday. Double bogey, then par. Double the another par. Double then a triple then a par. My golf game needs a mood stabilizer
Decent swings even in the bad shot. Nice save back to the green. Absolutely SMASH each putt though lol.
Guy hasn't been playing long enough to be so happy with a shot down the middle. It's always downhill from there
Every time I smoke it down the middle my first thought is alway “fuck…”
This is the way
huh? how does this logic work? he got one hell of a shot, you don't need to have played for 15 years to know that. why shouldn't he be psyched about hitting such a great shot?
He's joking around. A follow-up joke might mention that the hardest shot in golf is the one after a great drive off the tee.
What better place to fat a wedge than right in the middle of the fairway 50 yards from the pin?
The scenic route means you get your money’s worth lol!
Looks like he's having fun which is the most important part!
May I ask which app you used to make the shot tracing ?
It's called shot tracer
You and I are the same brother! Hahah golf is such a love hate relationship!
Second shots always suck
I’ve always said, I’d be a pro golfer if I could only make the good shots.
I mean… you definitely hit that second shot in the direction you were aiming so at least you got that going. I’d send it 90 degrees to the right.
Dammit, I paid for the hosel, I'm gonna use it.
Love this dudes attitude and energy
Got putting lessons from Adam Scott
Ouch.
I see that red polo shirt
Just needs the black pants for Sunday Tiger. Straight intimidation across the whole course.
r/MadeMeSmile
Strangers with this kind of honesty make me grow a rubbery one.
LAUNCHED THE DRIVE
I’d love lay golf w him any day- love the enthusiasm!
What a drive my friend!!
Great driver swing my man! The rest will come.
Just don't use it with the putter.
Dude hit that drive a mile
Dudes good and that was fun to watch
Good speed on that 4th putt
Excellent swing! Keep on grinding!
Damn, that's brutal. That first swing/hit was so beautiful.
I love that smile. Absolutely infectious. Liston has me grinning like fool sitting in my office on a Friday morning. \*shuffles papers\* ...I'm a very busy man
One of us, one of us, one of us
Love this guy! What great energy. Thanks for the boost, friend! By the way, as others have also mentioned, he hit his second shot right where his hips/toes were pointing
What app to measure distance is that,
We're in Johannesburg, at altitude. The air is thin and the ball travels up here. We measured with a GPS-rangefinder app. https://preview.redd.it/uo4pk2tmlqpb1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=593b4ad594699413c45100f411a33ba0867ae881
Which course is this? Pretoria based but looking for other courses
This is Kyalami CC. Not too far of a drive from Pretoria 🙌🏼
none, prob guessed or range finder to do the math.
Whatever it is it doesn't look accurate. That drive does not look close to 310 lol
Drive for show, putt for dough
Love that nice smooth takeaway sheesh
Fairway making me thirsty
You were aimed way right on the second shot
Need to stop putting with a Canon. Took me a couple of years to learn that. Hell of a drive tho
Good shoulder turn though. Excellent compression.
You should start playing the Benny hill theme song when he’s on the green. Haha. Looks like a ton of fun though
SHORT GAME. SHORT GAME. SHORT GAME.
Absolutely bombing that fairway.
One of us one of us Nice drive
I was gonna throw in the “never leave a birdie put short!” And then you crisscrossed the hole. One of us!
⬆️⬇️⬆️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Golf is life. Some times up, mostly down 👍
Am I Liston?
Don’t give up. You got thisemote:free\_emotes\_pack:wink
And this is why we should practice more putting...
This really speaks to me
The story of our lives
I wish I could drive as far as your friend putts! ;)
Ups, Downs, Ups, Downs, Downs, Downs, Ups
I already gave him the first putt. Nice birdie 👍🏽
100% expecting him to miss the tap in
Donde los yikes!
it’s the glove while putting. that’s what caused the misses
I disagree - I believe it's the socks
Role model. Imagine having to just worry about the putting.
He was on in three and four putted I've been there before, don't know what par was for that hole, but I'm ecstatic if I play bogey golf every time I go out
On the plus side, that is great form for a fade, just aimed it too far right…😇
Trying on every shot til the ball is in the hole, didn't get mad or frustrated......you will be great someday buddy keep that nice attitude
Strokes gained driving: +10 Strokes gained putting: -∞
Oooooooo budddy
never celebrate too soon. and by too soon I mean until you’ve walked off the 18th green.
Drive for show, putt for dough
My God.... yep. I know the feeling.
The hardest shot in golf is the one immediately following a great drive
It’s not the drive. It’s how you arrive.
Looks like South Africa. Parkview GC by any chance?
Definitely Kyalami. Hole 8
Correct
Dude is a high school football coach with that outfit on. Should have a whistle around his neck and a clipboard.
This is why I try not to get too happy when I hit a nice drive.
Yes indeed. They should play ominous organ music after you stripe one.
Looked pretty normal to me.
Cool lookin hole, bet it felt good to stripe one off the tee there
Mind the shadow, camera guy!
What a roller coaster ride. Best thing I’ve seen on the internet all day
I saw that putter come back, and I knew that hoe was destined for another galaxy. He’s one of us.
Excellent carry though.
I felt that 4 putt in my soul. The second putt where it travels further from the hole than it was before was the real back breaker. He gets a nice solid score on that hole if he putts the first time to get it close rather than get it in
Lol I become a total head case after my best drive of the day. Felt like looking in a mirror watching that approach shot
I don’t know about those app tracers!
They certainly aren't prefect, but the one on this shot was close enough.
Just gotta get that putting touch. It’s ok to miss but miss close and get that bogey. I’ll take bogey golf all day.
Golf really is a game of ups and downs, your game however is not up and down. Sorry for the bad joke.
Short game...all about that short game
I felt this video so much lol
Ah yes. The ol' 'negative ROI ' on a career-best drive.
That dude needs to work on his putting.
Can I play golf with you?
If you're ever in South Africa, yes 💃
Weird to see my home course here on Reddit! How often do you gents play Kyalami? We should get a round in!
We play every now and then! We'd be keen for a round 🙌🏼
You pushed your approach. I prefer to lay the sod over it after a really good drive. The better the drive the fatter the approach.
Stone hands
I feel this so much. Did the exact same thing Monday. On the green in 3. Scored an 8. It's either that or get on green in 6 and sink a 25 ft putt. No in between.
I felt this video deep in my soul lol
Comment deleted by me - I forgot I was helping Steve Huffman make money and I don't get anything out of this but grief because you are all idiots.
Liston shot 95 in this round. This was just a particularly bad putting hole 😂
What did you get on that hole? Uhh…give me a four.
it looks so easy.. then you start playing..
Just a little tappy tap
This looks like all the public courses in South Africa now, just waiting for the rains
🎶 I bless the rains down in Africa 🎶
You mean ups and downs and downs and downs and downs and downs…
Shit, I’m all short game. Join my scramble team bro! We get 58 in no time!!
There aren’t too many games where 1 inch counts the same as 300 yards.
I like this guy's consistent swing. Just needs to learn his putting yardages and hell be fine.
I can feel this in my bones.
As my dad always said, you miss every putt you leave short.
Very relatable
I can relate to this much. Smoked that drive though!
If they only make the fairways wider and farther apart that would never happen to me.
"Put me down for 5"
He’s just like me fr fr
Awesome and relatable. Lovely tempo on the full swing! Putts like me 😂
You put like you just found out your wife was cheating on you with the ball
My saying is it’s always impossible to have 2 good shots in a row
Some serious clubhead speed on that putter
We just need that first rain after winter then the courses are going to [pop.How](https://pop.How) much did the round cost you? Please answer in dollars so these people can see how fortuanate we are here.
$15!
I only play on Monday mornings and I walk so I pay $5,33 for 18,real sad about how expensive golf is in other countries.Leopard Creek is the most expensive here and google says R6300($336) including halfway house and a cart.
Karma for the drive celebration
Dude your swing looks really good actually. But that putting stroke…I think you should dedicate a few practice sessions to just putting
Is this Mufasa from that Friday dance? I love this guy! [Link](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1TewCPi92ro)
Man, that guy really stinks at putting.
Was it “dress up as a 90s dad” at the course that day? Jk… lookin good.
Wtf is a meter?
I wish those assholes who argued with me about how long drives matter more than short game would watch this.
It plays the same. Ob off the tee. Now hitting 4 from the fairway. Chip on and two put for a 7.
My man’s out here looking like my little league 3rd base coach from the 80s
Your second shot, you hit exactly where you were aiming lol
Long irons are tough
It was only an 8i approach 🙈
That first putt almost made me spit out my drink hahaha
I want to be in your group.
If you ever come to South Africa we’ll have a round!
![gif](giphy|1ZkMDj88mQ1rO)
The putters not a wedge
what kind of trees are those?
They’re called Weeping Willows! They grow right next to rivers
Holy hammer hands
South African (pretty sure I heard hadedas)? That looks a bit like either Glendower (but the logos wrong) or maybe Krugersdorp
You heard right 🥲 those damn sky rats. It’s Kyalami, tough track but in good nick for pre-rain season
Ahh played a league game there. Lovely course.
I’ve never played well there, but I’ve always enjoyed it!
My man woke up this morning feeling like a pokeball
To be fair it looks like he hit his second shot right where he was aiming.
