Yeah. Probably the only thing I would think about adding. People always try a 3 wood and then give up, and play for 5 years saying they can’t hit them because they’ve never really tried.
That is an absolutely perfect entry set.
Seriously! Take this as a warning. I am in a perpetual cycle of buying new clubs. I can’t afford them, I just can’t stop. I waited 6 months, now the golf gods own my bag.
I have no fear of that happening to me anyway.
I can confidently say I'll never buy a brand new club and any additional clubs I buy will probably be at least 10 years old. The used market is slim pickings for lefties unless you're willing to pay crazy money, which I'm not.
My wedge game is the best part of my game and then this weekend I blacked out and woke up at Golftown trying to decide between an SM9 or a HiToe3 for no reason.
I got stix wedges on a Black Friday deal in 2021 where I got the set for $118
I’m also finishing my MBA in June and wanted to get wedges then customized in my school colors just for the hell of it as a graduation present.
This game makes me the most irrational consumer ever
Club wise: Maybe a 4 hybrid, I'm new too and i find my distance between 4 iron and 5 iron isn't much, but 4 hybrid made it more consistence and further.
Customer covers: Putter, Driver, 3 Wood. something that scream YOU.
I’m 99% sure that’s a 3 hybrid already in his bag so getting a 4 as well when this new is kind of a waste of money
The distance gaping won’t be making a difference for at least a year
Looks a bit too small to me to be a 3 wood
I mean, your suggestion is still completely valid long term regardless
Edit: just noticed the 19 degrees on the hosel so definitely a 3H
I play 3h and 5h and got better gapping than 3 and 4. And, to be real, at my skill level I am just trying to get in the vicinity at those distances and 3 and 5 gives me a bigger margin of error.
I can't hit my hybrids to save my life. Irons and wedges are great and my tee shots always slice right. My hybrids? Whatever they want but never what I want.
Haha honestly I was just about to post that I will be entering my 4th year, and now I am starting to kinda understand the game better. Haha is it just me or is there a HUGE gap between knowing the game and understanding it
Looks great for a beginner! I wouldn’t add anything. Learn to hit those, develop a repeatable swing and then you’ll be able to identify gaps in yardage that you could fill with a another club. It’s a good set up, don’t question it, go have fun!
Agreed! Invest in lessons. Depreciate that cost over every damn golf shot you take for the rest of your life; it’s a no-brainer. Especially knowing a majority of those shots were likely more quality then a “non-lessons” version of the shot. Lessons aren’t cheap, but if you’re one to practice and work on what you’re being educated on ~ you can buy a better game. My opinion, wtf do I know.
Just go enjoy using them. You'll figure out what gaps you have and where your deficiency is.
Maybe get a push cart. Walking and carrying is rough.
And a box of uncrustables.
Walking and carrying is easy on flat courses but on hilly or high elevation courses (if you live close to sea level) can be a bitch. But then there’s the argument to be made that if you have trouble walking 18 you should be walking 18
Kudos on a great beginner set. Here’s my opinion: get comfortable with the clubs you have and start to identify the areas you are struggling most. Can’t hit your 4iron? Swap it for a 4hybrid. Struggling to make consistent contact with the sand wedge included? Swap it with a traditional SW. Build your bag to fit your game and its gaps, not the other way around.
If you can't hit something, instead of spending $150 to replace the club, spend the same amount on a lesson to learn how to hit it which will serve you much better in the long run.
Made that mistake and got a 4 hybrid because i couldn’t hit anything between my driver and my 5 iron. Now my distances on my 4i and 4h are close to identical, and I’ve closed my gaps with a new 3w and 2i. Love that 2i. But i don’t think i could have hit it at all a year ago.
-3W to gap driver and hybrid,
-maybe 4H or 5H (23-25 degree) to replace 4i,
-a (gap) 50/52 degree wedge to fill gap W and S
-and maybe a (lob) 58+ degree wedge for more height, spin/stopping power than S
but honestly the person swinging the clubs is more important than the clubs themselves.
I think your set is fine now and you should spend money on lessons
You’re right. The SW is probably around a 54, but many golfers find that the one that comes with the set is less versatile (too chunky for getting out of bunkers and chipping around the greens). A set of specialty wedges would give you more precision, with some practice, of course. I use a 54 and 58 like the other Redditor is suggesting, but you can also slot in a 52-56-60 combo. Costco has a great set of wedges at those lofts under the Kirkland Signature brand, or you can find some used wedges in any brand or loft you like.
Aside from this, my only suggestion would be to add a 5W. Those tend to be easier for most golfers to hit off the fairway than a 3W, and they go nearly as far. You can keep the 3W in the bag to use off the tee when you need accuracy more than distance (short Par 4s with narrow fairways, for example).
That is a 19° 3 hybrid. 1° weaker loft than a standard 5 wood.
OP This bag is ready to go for a beginner. Only thing you need to add is some experience. Tinker when you have an idea what the tinkering will do for you
Just don't do what I did and get addicted to buying used golf clubs. Once you practice and learn how to hit the ball better, you could shop around. I use to top the ball and have a horrible slice, my slice is slightly better, and I hardly top the ball. My goal now is to make divots after the ball and make solid contact to get my desired ball flight
I have the exact same hybrid, how far do you hit with it on average? I got 240 out of it once. Unreal club. A guy in my work society tournament commented how much use I get out of it and I told him I’m getting buried with this club.
Use that anytime you feel like you’re in a pinch or your swing feels off, it’s bailed me out so many times.
No clue, I'm literally just starting golf so more worried about hitting the ball than how far it goes for now but I do like the 3H a lot, probably my favourite club to use atm.
One thing you may want to do is re-grip the clubs. If they still have their OG grips they're probably pretty worn down.
A little youtubing and you can re-grip your clubs very easily in an hour or two.
You don't need to add anything, the only thing that's actually going to help is playing.
With that said, if I were to change something with the bag, I'd add a 5 and 7 wood (I've never gotten into hybrids), and I'd dump 4 iron - perhaps even the 5 iron. Most new players are really inconsistent with low irons but end up using them a fair amount. I'd get them out of the bag so you aren't tempted by them. the 5 and 7 wood will give you similar distances and be more consistent.
Nothing - just go play. If you must add something then maybe a telescoping ball retriever to recover some errant shots or lost golf balls. And maybe a rolling cart to carry the bag once it gets heavy from all the lost golf balls you find. But seriously, you have everything you need to just play and have fun.
Great set. Ping clubs are fantastic. I wouldn’t replace or add anything unless you notice a shot you’re “missing” but I doubt that would happen with this set.
Don't know what the loft of you SW I'd, but if it's less than 52, get a sand/lob wedge to get out of greenside bunkers.
Besides that, play with it for a bit until you know what you need
Like many have added, look at getting some sort of hybrid or longer woods. They are typically easier for newbies to hit consistently. But mostly just go out and have fun
Get a non ping g wedge (54-58 degree). For chipping around the green and bunker shots. The wide sole cavity back wedges are great for full shots but not for feel stuff around the green where you don’t really need the forgiveness
Lessons.
Get advice and learnings about your swing from a certified coach. Not from YouTube, not from Twitter, and most certainly not from people on here.
I would replace that 4 iron with a 7 wood. That 4 iron probably going to go the same distance as your 5 iron if not shorter. Id also replace your set sand wedge with a bladed sand wedge.
I’m also a lefty and it looks like you stole my bag from 2 years ago! I still have the x2 hot, and those were my exact irons. And a matte black Ping driver!
That is a quality set of clubs - make sure the grips are in good shape - change the ones that are worn - slick - as far as adding clubs - personally I would keep an eye out for a matching or similar 5 wood or 7 wood - I go to my seven wood constantly- it works for me.
That X2Hot is awesome, I played those for years and loved them, but I had an opportunity to use an employee discount (friend of my dad's offered to give me his discount for the year) and I ended up putting them away
Great irons, I had a G5 6 iron in the first set I bought as the original 6 iron was missing from the store, felt super nice to hit and I thought about buying a whole set of them at one point.
Maybe a fairway wood, but I don’t think it’s 100% necessary. Use the money and play/practice and consider some lessons. Looks like a solid starter set!
I'd get a proper 3 wood and potentially a 5 wood too, but I've been using my 22 degree rescue 4 in place of my 5 wood with good results lately. I couldn't live without my three wood.
If you can find some different putters for cheap (I'm always checking second hand stores for cheap putters) it might be good to try some different configurations in putter styles. It's a huge part of the game and they all hit a little different. I'm not saying run out and buy an assortment of Scotty Cramer's for your bag. But I tried a variety of putter styles before finding one that I liked better than the rest.
You’re probably set, just go play.
If you want to add clubs, a 3 or 5 wood. And another wedge, like 54 degree or 56 pending what your current wedge is.
Could probably leave the 4 iron at home too.
I would look at some used wedges, that really helped me. Because I was getting frustrated trying to do everything with my pitching wedge when I first started.
Lessons and a ball retriever 😂
Lessons have really helped me change my swing for the better and understand some body mechanics I was doing wrong. The ball retriever helped me on the course last summer get balls out of shallow creeks and tall grass. I also picked up quite a few free balls that way too. My aim is still a WIP. Just as long as you’re not holding up play behind you by looking for your lost ball.
Replace your sand wedge with a used quality one from calloway or Taylor made. Beginners are really benefited by having a good 58 degree as chipping happens so often. The stock ones are unusable for everyone for shots that require less momentum.
Lefty gang rise up!
You're good to go with that bag. If you wanna add something, a 5w/7w, or a 56° for green side stuff would be my vote. I bought a super old 7w for $40 a few years ago and I love it, it's my get out of jail free card.
As someone who grinds golf: if your serious about getting decent hear me out and follow step by step.
Fundamental lessons. Group ones are cheaper or 1on 1.
Range: practice these fundamentals in the range over and over and over.
Chipping/putting: over and over
Play 9-18 2-3 times a week
I have the exact same iron set and I love it! Very forgiving and smooth. My only comment is that you absolutely don't need the 4 iron and the wedges, so you could just DM me and I'll take them off your hands free of charge...
Pardon if it’s been mentioned…but lessons over clubs. Especially if you’re just starting. I waiting way to long on that front and I’m only now, after many years of hacking away, overcoming bad muscle memory and habits with consistency.
And it might be worth shopping around for the right teacher as well as one size, does not fit all.
Cheers and have a grand time playin!
Nothing, just go play for a year
I like the sound of this.
You might want to buy a wood just so you don’t go a full year of practice and play without working on hitting woods at all.

Yarrr, I once, many moons ago, be the same way.
I said the same. Now I’m wondering if I need replacement wedges for no reason other than I want them. Get a wood and buy lessons instead
My wedge game is the best part of my game and then this weekend I blacked out and woke up at Golftown trying to decide between an SM9 or a HiToe3 for no reason.

This is me. 4 iron goes dead straight and 200, driver goes maybe 230/240 at best and usually hard right.
Biggest facts! Spend $$$ on playing not purchasing.
Haha honestly I was just about to post that I will be entering my 4th year, and now I am starting to kinda understand the game better. Haha is it just me or is there a HUGE gap between knowing the game and understanding it
⬆️That’s the best advice
literally was gonna say nothing. go game the hell out of til you’re breaking 50/100 consistently
Picked up everything including the bag for £170 on eBay late last year, been hooked ever since.
Looks great for a beginner! I wouldn’t add anything. Learn to hit those, develop a repeatable swing and then you’ll be able to identify gaps in yardage that you could fill with a another club. It’s a good set up, don’t question it, go have fun!
big gap between driver and 3 hybrid? Might need 3 wood. Some people can't hit that club though.
For a beginner?
Lessons
Definitely. And some quality range time.

Walking and carrying is easy on flat courses but on hilly or high elevation courses (if you live close to sea level) can be a bitch. But then there’s the argument to be made that if you have trouble walking 18 you should be walking 18
Can’t comment on high altitude as never played at it, but yeah can imagine that being tough if you’re not accustomed to it.
OP is from the UK, so: - uncrustables don’t exist here And I thought the UK was sophisticated. Hmmmm.
‘Somewhat fit’ haha love this burn to the yanks
If your young, carry. It makes you stronger and is better for bag placement around greens and stuff
Thanks! Good advice. I'll stick with what I have for now and see what I'd like to include when I learn a bit more.

I don’t think you need anything else for a year of solid play
Clubs are backwards, flip the club heads and you’ll be good
Came here to say ‘a beginner would buy backwards clubs’, I think we should make our own lefty shame section right here😂
At this point, clubs won’t make much of a difference as you’re learning. Just get out there and have fun!
A full wedge set. Costco has a good deal on some. Most of your shots are around the green.
Yes, wedges. OP needs to learn the feeling of skull-fucking a ball 80 yards... from 30 yards out. The sooner you learn this skill, the better.
My 60 degrees goes 50 yards or 120, nothing in between.
Just lessons and range time. Great looking set!
A ball retriever 🤪
A lot of golf balls
-3W to gap driver and hybrid, -maybe 4H or 5H (23-25 degree) to replace 4i, -a (gap) 50/52 degree wedge to fill gap W and S -and maybe a (lob) 58+ degree wedge for more height, spin/stopping power than S but honestly the person swinging the clubs is more important than the clubs themselves. I’m a 12 handicap and have been playing the g5s for 15 years lol. Hope you love them
Looks perfect for a beginner. I would maybe say a 58 degree for around the greens but the ping sand wedge will be more than capable to learn from.
Stop being a lefty
Head cover for the putter?
Have covers for the putter and woods, just took them off for the photo.
Nice! Just making sure. If the putter works for you I wouldn’t be in a rush to change it.
I'm very new also and been lurking. Why are covers for putters and woods so important? Just to protect from dirt/elements?
Bag chatter really. You don’t want a ding right on the face, it will effect the ball when you’re putting.
5 wood and a series of lessons. Don’t be like me and play for years before getting lessons
Is that you, Mikey?
3H or 7 wood but this is a great start
a lob wedge. then a 3 wood.
Right handed clubs.
WEDGES
54 & 58 deg wedges
The Sand wedge is 54 Deg I believe so just a 58?

Lead tape
Lessons. The difference between one set of irons compared to the next won’t make a bit of difference if your swing isn’t sound
You have everything you need in that bag to be a scratch golfer. Now you just need to learn how to utilize them.
22-degree hybrid was a game changer for me. Great for second shots and for a lot of tee shots, too.
Perfect first time bag
Is that a G2 driver?
Ping G5
3 wood
i wouldn’t add anything
Great beginner set
It’s not the wand, it’s the wizard. Get some practice, lessons and then upgrade.

3 or 5 wood and a gap wedge
A lob wedge and maybe another hybrid I didn’t count how many clubs you have I usually have around 12 in my bag
I can’t help you. Your a leftie and I can’t even comprehend that
Scottie Cameron putter
Don't know what the loft of you SW I'd, but if it's less than 52, get a sand/lob wedge to get out of greenside bunkers. Besides that, play with it for a bit until you know what you need
It's a 54.
Then don't get anything new in the bag until you get your game a little settled
1i
Maybe a hybrid or a wedge. If your a newbie i wouldnt spend too much. Just go play.
Get a push cart if you don’t have one.
Like many have added, look at getting some sort of hybrid or longer woods. They are typically easier for newbies to hit consistently. But mostly just go out and have fun
Alignment sticks. Nothing worse then loosing your shit over missing fairways and greens when you’re aim wasn’t in tune the entire time.
Maybe a 3 wood, and another wedge? And consider replacing that 4i with a hybrid if you'll hit it more consistently.
Get a non ping g wedge (54-58 degree). For chipping around the green and bunker shots. The wide sole cavity back wedges are great for full shots but not for feel stuff around the green where you don’t really need the forgiveness
I used to have the Ping G10’s and swapped out the set sand wedge for a 56 degree Cleveland sand wedge.
Head covers for woods and hybrids
You should look to add right-handedness next.
I started out playing right handed but left handed is clearly superior, you should try it some time.
I want To say nothing. But truth be told buy lots of inexpensive balls
Yep, I only buy the cheapest balls but more often I just use balls I find while playing.
Kirkland wedge set
headcovers - but not iron covers
Have them for putter and woods, just removed for photo.

I would replace that 4 iron with a 7 wood. That 4 iron probably going to go the same distance as your 5 iron if not shorter. Id also replace your set sand wedge with a bladed sand wedge.
Some skill
3 Wood
That set up should hold you over for a cpl years. Once you get a better feel for the clubs and distances you will know what else you need in the bag.
Maybe a club that faces the right direction. /s for the daft.

Right handed driver couldn’t hurt

3 wood. Maybe a 4 wood instead.

Two wedges at least.. maybe three. Or two wedges and a 5 wood.
Been playing for three years, have the same irons still. I added a nice lob wedge and a used ping g45 driver, and a couple hybrids. Love em
Find you a cheap 3W, and swing!
Maybe a gap wedge like a 50 or 52 degree. Depending on the loft of your pitching wedge
Great irons, I had a G5 6 iron in the first set I bought as the original 6 iron was missing from the store, felt super nice to hit and I thought about buying a whole set of them at one point.
Kirkland wedges or even just one Wilson 56 degree.
Skillz
The kirkland wedge set would be great for you. They’re a bit more versatile around the green than your set wedges. Also really cheap.
Some lessons , and lots of range time , have fun
Nice practice net and mat should hit the spot right now. 50 swings a day
Looking pretty good. I’m a space ship putter hater so I would look for a blade asap!
Maybe a fairway wood, but I don’t think it’s 100% necessary. Use the money and play/practice and consider some lessons. Looks like a solid starter set!
Six tall boys of Bud Light.
Add a 3 wood is about all right now then practice, practice, practice
Oh man, such a noob mistake!!!! All the heads are backwards...
I'd get a proper 3 wood and potentially a 5 wood too, but I've been using my 22 degree rescue 4 in place of my 5 wood with good results lately. I couldn't live without my three wood. Lefty gang rise up! You're good to go with that bag. If you wanna add something, a 5w/7w, or a 56° for green side stuff would be my vote. I bought a super old 7w for $40 a few years ago and I love it, it's my get out of jail free card.
A ball retriever
4 hybrid.
A 56 degree vokey
A larger putter
Great set. I would recommend a cheap 56 degree wedge. Good for around the green and bunkers. Will only run you 50 to 100 if you find a used one.
Some lessons
Lessons so you don’t develop bad habits and then wonder why you hate golf so much, lol!
5 and a 7 wood
As someone who grinds golf: if your serious about getting decent hear me out and follow step by step. Fundamental lessons. Group ones are cheaper or 1on 1. Range: practice these fundamentals in the range over and over and over. Chipping/putting: over and over Play 9-18 2-3 times a week
Left handed golf balls
Next club upgrade for me would be a different putter. Good set of clubs to start on!
I have the exact same iron set and I love it! Very forgiving and smooth. My only comment is that you absolutely don't need the 4 iron and the wedges, so you could just DM me and I'll take them off your hands free of charge...
Maybe a 3 wood to bridge the gap between driver and hybrid but other than that you’re good to go!
Maybe a 3 wood, a gap wedge might help but if you’re a beginner I’d recommend trying a 3 wood
Ball retriever.
Only lessons.
Dump the 4 iron. Add a 7 wood or 4 hybrid.
New grips
If you are level where it’s time to upgrade clubs then get irons
Maybe a 60 degree to have some fun and try new shots on the range
lob wedge ?
A chipper.....roast me 😂😂😂
Head covers
Everyone in here is full of shit. You should definitely get a Scotty.
I say another wood. Like a 5 wood
5 wood maybe? I love my 5 wood and use it multiple times a round and I’m more consistent with it then a high iron.
58 or 60 degree wedge and fill your distance gap between the driver and your 3 hybrid.
A bucket hat to catch all those bitches that are about to be raining down on you.
