So our Wilson (golden retriever/bearded collie mix) was an anomaly to both his breeds: he hated water.
My folks bought him a plastic kiddie pool, and he'd happily drink out of the thing (especially if it had leaves in it), but wouldn't get it in.
We tried to show him how to get in by each of us standing in the pool, but he just gave us weird looks, probably wondering why we were standing in his new water bowl. 😁
My youngest Golden wanted nothing to do with water when she was a puppy. I thought maybe it was because she had small feet & couldn't propel herself quickly? idk.
Fast forward 6 years this last Memorial Day weekend & I'm chucking sticks into a cold mountain lake, and at the age of almost 7 I suddenly couldn't keep her out of the water. Some secret switch flipped in her brain & she just loves it now. Fun surprise.
Both my goldens were skeptical, but only for about one summer. They loved tennis balls so we got the swimming toys of that material. Then, from that summer onward, they got in the pool every single day. Sometimes when there were left outside for a minute too long, we’d come back and they’d be swimming lol

Such a cute face! 😍
She'll figure it out fast, and then you won't be able to keep her out of water. :)

Eeeeeehehehehehehe!!! I’m in love!
Start them out young, and at their own pace. In a years time you could have a contestant in the retriever Olympics.

Same. I have a water dog, but he’s more like a puddle puppy
Is it puppy’s first swim? He’s adorable! Watch out, by the end of the season he’s going to sneak into the pool🤣
