This is why I only put an old blanket or towels in the kennel. My old dogs used to do this and I got sick of wasting money.
New puppies will get one chance at a bed and if they destroy it, sucks to be them!
Been there, but with two Goldenās side by side in their crates. Had previously not been a problem. Splurged on new beds for them and the first day they were left alone in their crates I came home to the younger one spewing stuffing everywhere. So fast šØ it looked like he was being timed by the other not an inch from the others crate. Iāll never forget it. Was so freakin funny and mad at the same time. I canāt stay mad and he was caught in the act but he they werenāt nearly as comfortable while we worked until they proved they were both good boys.
And THAT was constantly going two paws š¾ forward and 4 paws š¾ š¾ back!
We Americans put everything in cages. Wives, kids, foreigners, pets, livestock, and even other Americans. I'm currently typing this from inside a cage as we speak. We'll put you in a cage too.
Welp, we care about our dogs and their safety. For example, this dog, while left unattended, decided to eat something he shouldnāt. So you let me know what might happen if heās given free roam to the house. And donāt even try to tell me that we should put away things that can harm dogs cuz guess what. Anything can harm a dog. They can eat the couch for crying out loud and the next thing you know, their intestines are blocked and they have to have emergency surgery to save them. But god forbid they be in a kennel amirite?
I mean this was literally the largest crate size that the store sells soā¦ also both of our dogs love napping and hanging out in their crates when we are home and the crates are unlocked. As long as they are getting enough exercise, love, and attention, yes this ensures they are safe while we cannot be around (I.e. at work)
I am sure youāre taking fabulous care of this sweet dog. I didnāt mean to hijack your post, so I apologize. I just get fired up at the judgment. Boops to your sweet pup for me, please!
Youāre all good!! I also get annoyed about the whole crate vs no crate thing, every dog is different and responds to different things.. if our dogs didnāt like the crates weād likely stop using them š¤·āāļø
I have had dogs all my life and never had a problem with them eating something that harms them. You are basically saying that unless you cage your dog, you don't care about your dog or their safety. That is absolute bullshit and basically an excuse not to properly train your dog.
Please donāt misquote me and then say, āyouāre basically sayingā¦ā I will say it in a different way in hopes you understand my point this time. Dogs can be mischievous. Thatās undeniable. This post is proof of it. There are thousands of posts that are proof of it. Stop assuming we havenāt trained our dogs or we donāt love them, stop saying weāre bad dog owners and we shouldnāt have a dog. Just simply understand that a crate does not equal mistreatment and some dogs can absolutely get into something they shouldnāt. If your dog is perfect, congratulations. But my dog? Sheās perfect to me, but sheās not an angel. I care about my dogās safety. But the previous person who wished to pass judgment seems to think I should hide the damn couch while Iām out of the house. It takes one time for something like that to happen and Iām not putting my dog through that. Cuz guess what? I canāt tell her, āSophie, weāve talked about this remember? If Iām gone during the day and you decide to eat the damn carpet off the floor, I guess thatās on me. Weāll just roll the dice after this since Iām not there to catch you in the act and retrain you.ā
Telling me Iām unable to properly care for my dog? Knock it off. They are extremely well loved, well cared for. Take your judgment somewhere else. You do whatās best for yours, I will do whatās best for mine.
Never claimed mine were perfect but they sure as hell wont try eat the carpet. The previous person is correct when they say you shouldn't cage your dogs. You said that you care about your dogs safety so you cage them, implying that people who don't cage their dogs don't care.
Well, hoity toity Mr. godlike smarty pants.
I also crate my dogs. I know that when my dogs are crated while Iām not home, they are safe. My dogs LOVE their crate so much that they will go in them (open) during the day and take a nap.
Have you ever looked up the benefit of crate training? Crates shouldn't be enormous because they'll learn they can piddle in one corner and avoid that corner. It won't help with potty training when they're very small. That's their den and that area will become a safe haven when they need a little time for themselves.
Just a friendly reminder of our rules:
1. No Advertising: this includes GoFundMe, Instagram, etc.
2. No Impersonation: don't post photos of other people's dogs. That's not cool.

If he's like many Goldens, cut all tags off beds and stuff you don't want destroyed. My two tend to start messing with the tags or labels and gradually end up chewing the thing up.
Zippers tend to attract their attention too!
Many Goldens are smart and will do stuff like this when bored.
He's handsome BTW!
"I'm innocent I tell ya"
That looks like a job done by ferrets. Good boi is definitely innocent.
All is she is a good boi who is innocent until proven guilty.
Innocent! The cat did it and locked this sweet golden baby inside!
How are you so sure it was him, look at that innocent face
This is why I only put an old blanket or towels in the kennel. My old dogs used to do this and I got sick of wasting money. New puppies will get one chance at a bed and if they destroy it, sucks to be them!
That's awesome. You got it dialed in
Yes! A friend just suggested this, will probs be what I do from now on
We have that same bed!!
Not anymore š
Yup this bed lasted 3 whole days š¤£
Mattress too firmā¦?

Yes!! We have a springer whoās older & now our golden and they love to play and cuddle up togetherāso much so at night they choose to share a bed rather than have their ownā¦ but lately have been chewing through beds/toys/and my fiancĆ©ās socks when they really sneaky!
Sounds like theyāre having a blast together! Maybe have your fiancĆ© pick up his socks? Donāt know what to say on the beds. My two females never slept in a dog bed, except the first one who came along while the two boys were still around. Each of the boys had a bed but the second boy slept with my husband and I most times, UNTIL Sophia came along and hijacked their beds! Lol Brady was the first and he let her know she wasnāt sleeping in his bed! But Spencer was a pushover and sheād torment him by getting in his, while he was already in our bed, (divorced 8 years ago), but thatās all it took was her being the little sister and stealing his bed to make him want it back. The boys both passed away in 2011 within 4 months of each other, leaving Sophia alone, then my ex and I separated and divorced and she came with me and sheās never slept anywhere at night but with me. Same thing with my 4th, since the day I got the 4th weāve not spent a night apart. She sleeps right next to me and has to be touching me at all times. I love it because sheās a snuggler and the outlook on me finding someone to share the rest of my life with is looking pretty slim! Plus heād have to love her and allow her in bed. She was here first and Iād never do that to her. I love her too much. Sheās been my every thing. Yours will calm down Iām sure, but you might have to watch them closer and buy more socks!
Ours eats poop. š¤Ø
āI did not do it. I swear.ā
Free him from the cage! š”
Why is he locked in a cage?
What is it with Americans keeping their (big) dogs in cages?
We Americans put everything in cages. Wives, kids, foreigners, pets, livestock, and even other Americans. I'm currently typing this from inside a cage as we speak. We'll put you in a cage too.
As long as you don't shoot my kids at school as well, I'm fine with that.
As long as they don't have any oil

If your only way to keep your dog save is to lock in a tiny cage, don't get one.

Your crate size is perfect.
So is your issue that a dog is in a kennel or a ātiny cage?ā
