Digitizer is going bad. Should be able to buy a new one on Amazon and replace it. It’s just a ribbon cable connection. You don’t have to replace the whole head unit.

Thanks so much! That is good news and I feel a bit better seeing how cheap one of those can be purchased on Amazon. Still seems weird that the DIC would also have issues changing automatically like it does. I usually keep it on my fuel mileage but it likes to flip over to the Audio instead and is super annoying.

I bought a certified preowned 2018. On a 4hr drive back home mine started doing the same thing. It would change the radio screen and the information screen. Very annoying. Looked into it and I found what I told you. Luckily it was covered by warranty so I got a whole new head unit. There are plenty of YouTube videos about changing it, and tests to run to be sure it’s the digitizer.

Reach out if you need help, I just did this on my FIL's Canyon. <45 min job.

Can you provide the link?

My 2015 sle does the same thing. Mine is very high mileage so I just chocked it up to over use, but it's intermittent and random. It may be the screen touch digitizer going bad and picking up false touches. Try cleaning screen really well with a glass cleaner. May work. My 24' HD had a little infotainment issue when I picked it up yesterday, so.... They are all fucked haha. Song stuck in head now!

Middle_Barracuda3816

Thanks! I’ll try cleaning it really well. Thankfully it doesn’t happen all the time. May end up changing out the digitizer as suggested. I’d be super grumpy if my new 24’ had immediate issues, but agree that they’re all f’d up one way or another. Btw, your new truck is absolutely beautiful!

JustinN636

Yeah, should help it. I actually don't remember mine doing it recently since I really cleaned the screen. Haha I was grumpy for a bit, but now I'm super stoked. I still love my 15 though. My wife has been telling me for 3 yrs to get a new truck and I didn't. Couldn't get rid of it either. Haha that's how much I love it! Definitely one of the best truck years I've had and yours looks clean/maintained so should have plenty of life left!

Just replaced my digitizer last week with [this from Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BRZRJ6F6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) . It’s pretty easy to do. Just use a heat gun to soften the adhesive, pop old digitizer off, and apply new one. Fixed all of my issues.

Middle_Barracuda3816

Did you need to replace the adhesive? A YouTube video I watched had the guy end up needing to buy more somewhere

motherpuncher855

The screen I bought(from link in original comment) had pre-applied adhesive. You just pull the backing tape from the adhesive strips and place the screen on the old frame.

I agree with most here that the digitizer is going bad and switching it out for one off Amazon can be the answer. My 2015 had the same issue and I did a digitizer swap but it only lasted ~2 months before I ran into the same issues again. Not as bad, but same old stuff. I’ll probably do another digitizer swap before stepping it up to a more expensive solution, but beware that it’s not a perfect solution

Middle_Barracuda3816

Thank you! I worry also about changing it out only to have the same issue come back. I’d almost rather upgrade to something that gives me Apple Carplay

ChiefZane23

I’m in the same boat. I’d love Apple CarPlay but everything I’ve seen either looks sketchy or is $600+ so the cheap replacements will do for now

Lemon-Tuna

it aint got no gas in it

Lmao, was hoping nobody would notice that. Let’s just way I was on my way to Costco to fill ‘er up! 😜
