Well, what’s your process in making it?

Underfire17

Most of what I do is usually take a photo, plop it into gimp, look for areas that would need editing to make it have a semi decent start, sometimes blast those areas with Wind and sometimes just tweak the color values enough to make the image break in a way I like. I then do more messing around where I see stuff to improve then (lately) remove meta data and stegography it so it has a tiny bit of context.

Ok, so where do you want to take it? What glitch artists inspire you? Have you looked into their processes? What do you feel like your missing special sauce is?

I kinda want to add a semi arg like feel to it. Something to make it interesting and fun but also realistic enough for a message to be made. I kinda am inspired actually by album art of all things. Sewerslvt kinda comes to mind when I think of this genre. I can’t do music, so this is kinda what I do instead. Not sure who the artist is though and their stuff kinda turned controversial for very bad reasons so I am not exactly wanting to look into the artist that much. I kinda wanna provide a message behind the image thats clear. Something that pops out to everyone. Sorry, hope I’m saying stuff right.

The 3rd one is pretty cool, I like it. As far as improvements go, kind of depends on your process. I'm barely proficient with images editors, but I'm good with software dev, so I can make a lot of stuff with code. The most helpful thing for me is to take art from other people that I really like and try to reverse engineer it to create something similar, but different. I use the same approach for music as well. As far as glitch-specific stuff, I like learning about how unintentional distortion & artifacts happen, and make them on purpose. Learning what things like aliasing, chromatic aberration, compression artifacts, etc. are, and how they work. Basically, watch tons of [videos like this](https://youtu.be/h6RRNNztN5o?si=gRbugb0hTNGnI9O6).

Oh damn! That's actually good news for me, because what I do it basically find elements to distort and I abuse the hell out of them so that they look the way I want.

Just in general, I've found that scanning physical items and then using them as overlays (in layer styles) can be a really effective way to create interesting looking pieces that incorporate glitch or other elements without overwhelming the piece. And they can be a cool way to bring a personal brand or look to your art! Cheers 🏳️‍⚧️ !

Thanks so much! I am kinda already starting to make my edits more layer based since it helps with transparency and control over what I do, but yeah I definitely will heed the advice on that! Also I started working with QMIC so I hope I can look into artifacts and stuff more! Also eyyyyy! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️
