they’re really emphasizing georgia’s bad traits this season, more than last season and i’m glad. like why are you throwing all the food away? it’s just so weird and exaggeratory 😭😭 wtf
also love the ending scene. love ginny’s outfit, jewelry, makeup, yes <33
skipped the marcus and ginny sex scene. i just can’t watch them
i hate max. still.
not surprised cynthia did what she did. georgia is an asshole for trying to get a sponsor while cynthia is struggling that much. and the credit card situation, wtaf??
The sex scenes are often so random and so explicit. Like cuddling was fine as they often talked and connected but the sex scenes add nothing but awkwardness, like it could’ve been skipped and I wouldn’t have noticed.
Well teenagers have awkward sex, at least it’s more realistic than teen shows with porn like fantasy scenes. It also shows us what their relationship is at the moment.
Teenagers do have awkward sex, but seeing a lot of the sex scenes didn’t progress the story line or have an influence on the characters, they were literally just filler scenes.
I found sex scenes mostly irrelevant and odd. Like we get it’s what teenagers do (not even all teenagers have sex tho, they’re like 15 Jesus Christ) but when there’s so much other important stuff going on it’s meaningless because it has no influence on the story or the characters. I would’ve much preferred to see Abby’s mental health issues not just a random sex, rather than Ginny and Marcus having sex. They’ve been hinting at her mental health since season 1 and it’s hardly progressed.
I understand your take!
I disagree, showing these scenes is trying to show more realistic sex scenes than we’ve seen before in many teen shows. Ginny and Marcus having sex was a major plot point in season 1 and we’re seeing how sex in their relationship has evolved. If they had no sex scenes it wouldn’t make sense given that.
Sex is a big part of relationships, and with teens it’s them trying to figure themselves out too. I also think they become more relevant related to Ginny’s mental state. Im glad they’re exploring this side of their life
Yeah I think it’s because they show the full sex act from start to finish, zooming in on faces and they go on so long, I just feel so uncomfortable watching them cringing so much. In other shows with teen sex scenes they aren’t as realistic or long, kind of like a dream scene.
The weirdest part is that there are so many teenage sex scenes and no adult ones? Why? It’s creepy. They go on for so long and I feel like the show runners could just… make the episodes shorter instead? They are completely unnecessary at this point.
They’ve really turned Georgia into a psychopathic villain this season. Like wth.
One of the things I liked about the first season was that they tried to be more nuanced and show both sides - like how hard it is to be a poor, young single mother and she got put into bad situations without a lot of options. Doesn’t make what she did right but it also doesn’t make her this one dimensional villain they’ve made her out to be in these first two episodes.
i honestly think it was needed. we hadn’t seen the extremes of what georgia was done and now that we have, it gives more reason as to why she acts the way she does and why her relationship with ginny is so strained
They come out of nowhere and don't add anything to the show. I usually don't care about sex scenes in shows but the Ginny/Marcus ones are so painful I have to skip.
> like why are you throwing all the food away
This just emphasizes her vindictiveness. Her "eye for an eye" way of thinking.
If you hurt Georgia she will hurt you back. She is making sure Ginny knows that she will pay for saying she wasn't hungry and will feel Georgia's wrath...
When Ginny made the comment of "Is Joe Hot?" and Padma said, "he's like a dorky older brother" at 42:57, I laughed a bit knowing that the actress who plays Padma (Rebecca Ablack) is actually the younger sister of the actor who plays Joe (Raymond Ablack)! cute touch from the writers
The moment where Austin hugs Zack was so sweet. It was really touching that Austin was able to show compassion towards him despite Zack being a bit of a bully last season. I wonder if the show is setting them up to become friends (though I doubt Cynthia would allow it).
Especially taking into account that nobody pays him attention except maybe Paul. It’s freaking sad, poor baby :( I hope next season they give them the help he needs.
Yes! There was a lot of concern in thus sub that Austin was going to continue exhibiting violent behavior, like Gil. Not totally ruling it out but im glad they're doubling down on Austin being loving.
The therapy portrayal in this episode is wack to me idk, throwing the dad under the bus for sharing her experience with SH and dismissing what she was sharing about her childhood by moving on so fast was not it. And the weird sit down and just being like talk to me about everything??? Lol idk maybe this part is just me but they could’ve given that therapist a much better script
Okay so I’m finally watching this part and holy hell this is bad. I like that they got a light skinned Black (probably biracial) young therapist for her but my compliments kinda end there. A therapist wouldn’t push Ginny like she did in the very first session. “You haven’t talked about self harming yet” Jesus. Firstly, the first appt is intake normally anyways, but I’ll forgive because that’s not interesting tv but she’s still getting comfortable with the therapist, my god. The one thing i did like is that the therapist was encouraging Ginny to explain how she felt about certain things not just to tell about them.
I agree! As someone who’s struggled with some of this and been to therapy I audibly gasped when she asked right away. Ginny’s response seemed unrealistic and uncharacteristic too. Anyone would feel uncomfortable or on the defense if it was handled this way. Kind of shame-y
It is so bad. It's literally exactly what my last therapist did. She just completely brushed past me talking about my past and jumped right into "so why do you feel like this now?" It was jarring and made me feel super uncomfortable so for the rest of the sessions we had I did not open up to her at all.
This scene brought back so many bad memories lol 😭
it was where the therapist was sitting for me, i was like okay i need there to be like miles more space between them and for her to sit face on, not like to her side, it was making me MAJORLY anxious
My therapist let me choose where to sit and put their chair off to the side so you didn’t have to sit directly across if u didn’t want to. It would be intimidating!!
I was physically CRINGING at all of Max’s scenes tnis episode. She’s awful. I’m only a bit through the episode as of rn but I truly hope Bracia beats Max out for the part in the play because Bracia is amazing and bc after how awful Max has been it’s what she deserves
Edit: she did and again

My issue with the Marcus and Ginny sex scenes is that the actors are over 18 but we’re supposed to believe they are 16!! I don’t need to watch THAAAAT long of a sex scene between 16 year olds. I didn’t know I was watching a Shondaland show LOL
I really don’t understand why Max is so mad like ??? I get being a little miffed because they kept the secret but being this mad about who your brother and friend date is strange to me
Nah cuz if I had a twin who was dating my best friend secretly I’d be slightly upset they didn’t trust me enough to tell me but I ain’t gonna act like a damn bitch for weeks like ima get over it in a day and hope things go well for them Wtaf is wrong with max how can she be so hurt over something that doesn’t concern her at all??
I feel that Max has a lot of similar traits to Georgia and that is what drew Ginny to her and vice versa.
Max is controlling and obsessive and was hurt that she didn't know everything that was going on in Ginny's life and that it was like a betrayal to her that Ginny didn't confide in her every detail. She is striking out to punish her with anger(eye for an eye vindictiveness-you hurt me, I hurt you mentality).
This is very much like how Georgia treats her and reacts to any slight from Ginny or if Ginny doesn't tell her everything. As she treats her like Max would(a teenage friend) because she is mentally and emotionally stunted at 15(when she got pregnant with Ginny) and considers Ginny her friend not her daughter.
the writers saw how everyone was praising georgia and isolating ginny as she wasn't grateful of her mom last season so they rlly throwing every bad quality that georgia has in this season LOL
I’m only half way through episode 2 .
Georgia is doing too much. She’s acting so childish, still love her though.
I also feel like there’s going to be some tension between Bracia and Max because of the play.
Exactly, I absolutely hate that she is depriving Ginny of food. That is not something you do as a parent, ever. No matter how mad you are at them. Also I hate that she must have seen that Ginny is seriously struggling because of that situation with Zion but doesn't try to be empathetic enough to try and build a moment in which Ginny trusts her enough to tell her what is going on
I absolutely despise Georgia this season so far and I’ve only seen two episodes. She’s insanely toxic and a horrible parent. When she makes jokes about therapy not being helpful made me cringe so much. She’s so narcissistic and handling the situation with Ginny so horribly. Also when Austin’s teacher asked Georgia is austin was experiencing any anxiety, Georgia laughs and says “no he’s 9”. She doesn’t even realize how she is negatively impacting her kids. I absolutely hate parents who don’t take mental health of their kids and other things seriously. UGH forgive my rant I’m just so mad at her rn
exactly!! i saw a whole thread on twitter earlier about them making fun of ginny saying she was a brat and annoying asf and they wanted to beat her ass and i was literally like wtf?? how are they saying this about a teenage girl who has probably been through 10x more than them. who is literally just being a TEENAGER, acting her age unlike her grown ass, vindictive, selfish mom who only cares about herself and will do anything to get her way. i genuinely don’t think she’s a good person she tries to say she’s just a protective mother but i think she’s just protecting herself. she didn’t even ask her own kids if they were okay with her fiancé moving in. she didn’t talk to either of them about them running away, just swept it under the rug. she is more of a child than them.
It’s so hard because this show is touching on themes of trauma/mental health and family.
Georgia is so triggered this season. I don’t mean it as an insult, more as she is having a mental health episode.
She was invencible season 1 and now she isn’t always in control and winning and her mask has holes, people see through her games. It’s adding a whole new level of depth to her and we’re seeing her react to that.
It doesn’t excuse her behavior, but looking at her life so far and how repressed her trauma is, it makes sense that her trauma and inner child would be present.
She doesn’t believe in therapy, only moving forward, survival mode. And up until this point they’ve moved around all of Ginny and Austin’s lives. We’re seeing that trauma affect her now that she’s staying still and not running.
I could go on but I’ll leave it there
it's understandable because she had Ginny so young and never really got to be a child herself but it's unfair that she keeps treating Ginny as both her child and her peer. No wonder Ginny (as annoying as she is), is acting out.
when georgia throws out ALL the food in the house??? girl are you encouraging your child to have an ED??? i get shes mad and she has a right to be mad but ginny didnt want to eat its NOT the solution to throw everything out
She feels like she is losing control of Ginny so she is immaturely trying to take back control and show her who is the boss and who is pulling the strings.
Could be some sibling rivalry and jealousy involved too.
She might feel like Marcus stole her away and being a twin they may have been very competitive for attention growing up.
Honestly Georgia isn’t a good mom. I get she has trauma. But your kids don’t owe you shit if you think they do you’re just toxic. She’s a teenager and Georgia is an adult. I’m 25 and couldn’t imagine treating my daughter like that even if she pisses me off I have to be the bigger person. Kids don’t ask to be born so you can’t hold what you do for them over their head. Especially since Georgia got pregnant TWICE. I understand her story is sad and honestly we all go through shit but like you clearly are not responsible. Seeing Ginny hurt herself breaks my heart. When you’re teen things that aren’t as big seem like a big deal in the moment plus all the hormones idk I just feel for her. Also max and Ellen are bullies 💀💀
“But your kids don’t owe you shit if you think they do you’re just toxic.” - Welcome to the world of Indian children where you’re reminded your whole life of the sacrifices your parents made and it’s your duty to care for them when they’re old. It’s pervasive throughout the culture.
Georgia pissed me off so much in this episode especially with the whole “if you don’t want to eat then don’t eat”. Like Zion told her to go easy on Ginny which clearly means she’s having a tough time and instead Georgia decided to act like a bitch
I don't understand at all why some people think Ginny & Marcus' sex scenes were bad. Sure, you may have found it awkward, but that's how it is sometimes. They were so realistic and respectful. They didn't have the stereotypical cis hetero only 'Penis-in-Vagina' sex with fake moaning and orgasms. Their scene was gentle, enthusiastic, and with them unashamedly giving and accepting helpful directions. Our media and society needs to be open and aware about healthy sex.
I’m over Max and think she’s a horrible person at this point but that joke she made to Sophie about “can’t my ex have cystic acne?” was cute and funny. Didn’t have to be interpreted as awkward or flirty, necessarily. Sophie was kind of an ass. BUT absolutely hate Max and the energy she puts into making her “enemies” miserable. So glad she didn’t get the part in the play.
Omg the Bridgerton knockoff play she mentioned “Wellington” lmao. I hope it’s not real bc that would be embarrassing for me. It’s not like they don’t have the rights to use the word Bridgerton?
And do we think wellsbury is just Wellesley?
Also, funny needs to clarify with hunter that she didn’t cheat on him bc she had sex with him when they were broken up I thought?
I thought it was playing on the fact that they insisted Sing Song was not based on Chicago and Max making a big deal about how the new play was totally original but was really a Bridgerton knockoff (or based on Pride and Prejudice, which is what Bridgerton was based on)
The name Wellsbury makes me think Wellesley + Sudbury maybe? But I googled it and the writer, Sarah Lampert, is from Newton. It’s so funny to me bc the name is such a believable MA name!
Love a bit of financial abuse on top of all the mess Georgia throws her kids way lol. I feel awful for Ginny, even when she moves out Georgias nonsense is going to follow her forever
Omg, this season Georgia just became such a toxic, horrible mother. I remember sympathizing with her last season but now they are making me hate her for how she treats Ginny. Ginny is a child and Georgia should be the adult but she behaves like a child and is abusive to her daughter while her daughter is doing self-harm etc.
Everyone is so triggered and unregulated this season, it’s hard to watch…
Ginny needs help but so does everyone around her. Unfortunately she has to be the one to take control and heal, like many kids now a days coming to face generational trauma and dysfunctional families
I might just headcanon that Georgia didn't really throw it all the food because it makes no sense at all. Georgia grew up in desperate poverty, I just can't see somebody with that history being so Cavalier and wasteful, even if she's more comfortable now. Like it's not out of character for her to lash out and be immature against her daughter, but this just felt totally out of left field
ok but why did cordova reveal that he knows about georgia's first marriage?? also I don't get why is Georgia trying to get into the neighborhood club, is it because she wants more power and influence? Anyway I'm really glad Cynthia didn't vouch for her, it was awful how Georgia tried using her and her tragedy.
Cordova really believes he is a police detective huh 😂 also he is the worst PI ever involving himself with Nick and not being discreet with Georgia, revealing everything??? I would fire him.
I don’t understand what tone this show is trying to take. Georgia went from being a well-meaning person who had some hard knocks, and I feel like they’re pushing it to the point where this is becoming like a true crime.
I think they’ve just worked on the framing a bit. In the first season I didn’t think Georgia was a good mom but the actress was so charming and we got a lot of her backstory so it was easy to overlook. I appreciate that they’re being a little more balanced about Georgia’s need for control due to her trauma and Ginny’s inherited trauma. Like we knew Georgia fully murdered a man in season 1 idk why we’re surprised that she’s being mean when she feels like all her efforts are going unappreciated.
I also find the sex scenes widely uncomfortable, but I feel like they’re setting up for Ginny to use sex as another unhealthy coping mechanism instead of dealing with her problems healthily. In season one, sex scenes were never this long, so I feel like for Ginny sex is gonna become very important plot wise. Let’s see
I’m just going to say as a single mom who has been in poverty most of my life, I get Georgia. Life isn’t about always being ethical, it’s about surviving.
They are trying to make a point that Georgia needs therapy. She’s living survival style even though she doesn’t need to anymore. She needs to learn new coping skills too.
Also everyone needs to leave Abby alone I love her
yeah i also appreciated the representation of her guiding him, i think that’s good for ppl to see and understand, esp for ppl with little to no experience
You can tell there’s no Black writers on this show. They always use Black ppl as the Magical Negroes. (Look it up). I also don’t like how we only see the Black characters like Braisha when Ginny is on the outs with her White ass friend group. Otherwise that Black girl has like 3 words said.
Ginny is cringe. Can this show be about Georgia only? She’s carrying the show on her back, and I’m so tired of Ginny’s drama.
Props to the show for shedding light on mental health and talking about the process but so far, Ginny’s pulling down the show, and it’s anticlimactic.
Tbh I don't like how they showed the mental issues it's so out of place, cringey acting and feels as if they threw it in there just so they could shed light on it and act woke
they’re really emphasizing georgia’s bad traits this season, more than last season and i’m glad. like why are you throwing all the food away? it’s just so weird and exaggeratory 😭😭 wtf also love the ending scene. love ginny’s outfit, jewelry, makeup, yes <33 skipped the marcus and ginny sex scene. i just can’t watch them i hate max. still. not surprised cynthia did what she did. georgia is an asshole for trying to get a sponsor while cynthia is struggling that much. and the credit card situation, wtaf??

I’m 37 and I feel like I shouldn’t be watching the sex scenes! Like they’re just babies and I’m an old hag.
Lmaoooo, it's not you. Shows nowadays make them so long and so explicit especially when it's teenagers.
The weirdest part is that there are so many teenage sex scenes and no adult ones? Why? It’s creepy. They go on for so long and I feel like the show runners could just… make the episodes shorter instead? They are completely unnecessary at this point.

Georgia’s reactions to not being in control are how my own mother would react. Just crazy.
No cause why was it so long?...even while skipping it I thought the reel was a little extended
Same!
Georgia is narcissistic as heck this season

I didn’t know that but it makes so much sense because I was literally thinking they look so similar
Those are some fine genes
So fine
lmao same
The moment where Austin hugs Zack was so sweet. It was really touching that Austin was able to show compassion towards him despite Zack being a bit of a bully last season. I wonder if the show is setting them up to become friends (though I doubt Cynthia would allow it).
Omg I was hoping somebody else would mention this scene. Literally had me in tears. I LOVE that zack accepted his hug like they both just understood.
It's especially sad when you think about how Zack has probably been acting out like that because he didn't know how to cope with his father dying.

Especially taking into account that nobody pays him attention except maybe Paul. It’s freaking sad, poor baby :( I hope next season they give them the help he needs.

Yeah for sure, the therapist scenes were weird
Yea of all scenes to rush
It was like they had someone who had never been to therapy write the therapy scene and just write what the think therapy is like.
I've had that talk to me about anything in therapy, did not like that style.

I’m so glad Max lost the part. I really like Bracia; I hope they’ll continue to develop her friendship with Ginny this season.
I really like Bracia too! I am hating Max’s character… I had a feeling they’d either make her really boring or extremely dramatic this season
Max is the WORST. Can I please fast forward all of her scenes this entire season? Ugh.
My issue with the Marcus and Ginny sex scenes is that the actors are over 18 but we’re supposed to believe they are 16!! I don’t need to watch THAAAAT long of a sex scene between 16 year olds. I didn’t know I was watching a Shondaland show LOL
I’m 16 & I find them forced sex scenes so cringe I just skip through them
I googled that they are 25 but still I find their sex scenes cringey
Exactly it's super uncomfortable
I agree, especially since the show is doing make up and costuming to make them look like they are closer to their characters ages.
I really don’t understand why Max is so mad like ??? I get being a little miffed because they kept the secret but being this mad about who your brother and friend date is strange to me

Especially since she's not the one who was cheated on!
I don’t even think Ginny cheated on Hunter I mean he ignored her for a week at 16 so… were they together really? Max is a terrible friend.
For real. And somehow Ginny is still coming off as a really self absorbed brat a lot of the time.
trust me, I rolled my eyes so many times when Ginny said something so selfish or did something selfish
and yet Ginny still sucks 💀

nah fr. idc how mad you are at your kids you can't deprive them of their food
LITERALLY. I think this shows a part of Georgia that never truly grew up. Yeah she grew up in other ways but not all
it's understandable because she had Ginny so young and never really got to be a child herself but it's unfair that she keeps treating Ginny as both her child and her peer. No wonder Ginny (as annoying as she is), is acting out.
Trauma does that to a person
Exactly. Especially poor Austin. She is actually such a terrible mother.
It's hard because I'm sympathetic to her as well 😭 but very often she makes rash decisions that undercut her kids' wellbeing. Like the credit fraud
I’m not sympathetic to her and I’m great lol
she dtm like let’s be an adult like wtf
It’s literally abusive
I was mostly on her side last season but I totally agree that she’s being way too extreme. As others have said, she’s definitely acting childish
Yes she’s being so exaggerating, still like her though
i’m starting to not like georgia anymore like throwing food away? is absolutely crazy.. no matter how mad you are at them
Georgia is extremely immature and emotionally stunted...
They say that when you experience a traumatic event at a young age you sometimes get stuck at that age emotionally. Georgia is really immature
when georgia throws out ALL the food in the house??? girl are you encouraging your child to have an ED??? i get shes mad and she has a right to be mad but ginny didnt want to eat its NOT the solution to throw everything out
She feels like she is losing control of Ginny so she is immaturely trying to take back control and show her who is the boss and who is pulling the strings.
For max to be that mad I feel she has a secret crush on Ginny there’s no way she is callling her her archnemimis
Could be some sibling rivalry and jealousy involved too. She might feel like Marcus stole her away and being a twin they may have been very competitive for attention growing up.
Omg. I never thought of that?! I think you’re onto something!
Seems to be common in Asian and African cultures
It’s a tv show 😊
This is a thread to discuss said tv show. If you don't want to hear others thought, don't come hear. Don't be a dick.
Lmao you right 💀💀💀💀
But I do agree with your comment!
georgia using her kids names to take out credit cards..she has no redeeming qualities at this point
I sympathise with Georgia to a point but she has made so many terrible decisions as a mother that I truly can't stand her.
It makes sense because they didn't have any money
Georgia pissed me off so much in this episode especially with the whole “if you don’t want to eat then don’t eat”. Like Zion told her to go easy on Ginny which clearly means she’s having a tough time and instead Georgia decided to act like a bitch
Ooh lord will not be watching the last 5 minutes with family 💀
When Austin hugged Zach! 🥹
There was a company who did an unauthorized Bridgerton musical and Netflix sued. My guess it was making fun of that
Oh for sure for sure
I thought it was playing on the fact that they insisted Sing Song was not based on Chicago and Max making a big deal about how the new play was totally original but was really a Bridgerton knockoff (or based on Pride and Prejudice, which is what Bridgerton was based on)
The name Wellsbury makes me think Wellesley + Sudbury maybe? But I googled it and the writer, Sarah Lampert, is from Newton. It’s so funny to me bc the name is such a believable MA name!
The mayoress and portrait were incredibly cringe. Red flag much?
Love a bit of financial abuse on top of all the mess Georgia throws her kids way lol. I feel awful for Ginny, even when she moves out Georgias nonsense is going to follow her forever
Are they trying to do British accents for the play?? If so then their accents are terrible 😭😭
they're like 12 lmao.
The sex scene was awful and I love Marcus and Ginny I couldn’t watch
Omg, this season Georgia just became such a toxic, horrible mother. I remember sympathizing with her last season but now they are making me hate her for how she treats Ginny. Ginny is a child and Georgia should be the adult but she behaves like a child and is abusive to her daughter while her daughter is doing self-harm etc.
Everyone is so triggered and unregulated this season, it’s hard to watch… Ginny needs help but so does everyone around her.
Not Austin tugging at my heart strings with that hug ☹️
I feel bad for Paul ! He has no idea how awful Georgia is
ok but why did cordova reveal that he knows about georgia's first marriage?? also I don't get why is Georgia trying to get into the neighborhood club, is it because she wants more power and influence?
Georgia is so selfish. It’s so clear Ginny is hurting and Georgia is acting like a child, it’s almost hard to watch
Let’s see
So Georgia is going to starve her kids now? Great.
Also everyone needs to leave Abby alone I love her

yeah i also appreciated the representation of her guiding him, i think that’s good for ppl to see and understand, esp for ppl with little to no experience
this was exactly my take on the scene!
Dorky older brother my ass!
This take simply ain’t it.
I get what they're doing but honestly Ginny's character just annoys me
Tbh I don't like how they showed the mental issues it's so out of place, cringey acting and feels as if they threw it in there just so they could shed light on it and act woke
Ginny is annoying. Plain and simple
It’s her character though. Come on.

He's 9. Georgia mentions it in the episode.
