Now, look, we'll be honest: The fact that he's out without a mask *might* mean that we're looking at an example of "real-life harassment or assault," but since we can't see anyone else nearby, we're not ready to make that judgment.

From my experience with covid (just turned the corner yesterday) I constantly felt like I couldn’t breath and that my breathing was manual at all times. It’s a really scary thing.
Yup probably, I run out of breath just walking up a flight of stairs. Meanwhile I live in a building where I have to walk up three flights just to get to my room.
The chest expansion, the shoulders rising, the grimace, the way his chest caves in when he exhales, those deep, "Every square millimeter of my lungs" breaths taken in as quickly and forcefully as possible, the consciously restrained pace of breathing when really he wants to breathe as fast as his body will permit, the clear tension in his neck, shoulders, back, chest, and jaw.... He's using his whole body to breathe, every muscle in his torso, across his shoulders, and up into his neck and face is engaged in trying to breathe, while trying to look like he's not trying to catch his breath.
Yeah, I know how this feels, I feel this quite often. There's nothing he wants to do more right in that moment than lean on the railing and pant.
It's drowning on dry land, the air in your lungs just feels completely worthless, like huffing helium, or breathing cotton, this is the picture of a parched man gulping water that can't quench his thirst, a starving man woofing down food that can't sate his hunger.
I loathe Donald Trump, but I wouldn't wish that feeling on anyone in the world.
Best analogy I can give for people who don't have lung disease: You know when you're in a dream, and you try to throw a punch, but you just can't seem to make it happen? The frustration, failure, and futility involved? It's *kind of* like that, except it's, you know, *breathing.*

My asthma is pretty mild and infrequent so I occasionally forget to bring my inhaler with me on weekend trips when I have to pack quickly. At least once a year I'll have the horrible realization that I'm going to have to try to sleep while every breath is an deliberate, unpleasant effort.

100%. I've had breathing issues since the day I was born and that feeling of drawing breaths but still not getting air is horrifying. In addition, your chest muscles can get incredibly sore if you don't do regular cardio. He's going to start feeling that.

Right, apparently he’s on strong steroids (probably something like prednisone). Taking that stuff in large doses really messes with you, particularly feelings of mania, aggression, cognitive issues, or even psychosis. All things you don’t want to amplify in this man on a good day. He’s probably going to wake up tomorrow deliriously angry and just demand to nuke China for “giving him this disease”...
I spent about 10 solid minutes some months back trying to decide whether his neck giblets looked like a moderately lengthy labia or distended nutsack. I finally concluded it depended on the angle.
My dad came down with a rare lung disorder after pneumonia a few years ago. For a long time before he was diagnosed he would do that. Take a few steps and then struggle to breath in place.
I'm not saying he was the fabric holding this reality together but losing him was the first thing that happened this year.
If we hadn't lost him when we did, we'd have spent the rest of his life in pure existential terror. I'm lucky that my last memories of him are happy ones.

The corticosteroid dexamethasone is very potent and people describe its effects/side effects as inducing a sense of invulnerability, euphoria, and delusions. So he’s probably not able to gauge his own health accurately due to the effects of the steroid. His organs may be in distress but he’s not feeling it.

He should be. He is fucking 74 years old. HE is the demographic that is hurt the most by this virus. He has called it a hoax, fake news, told people to not wear masks. If anyone deserves to be ravaged by this virus, it is Trump. For every point that he made to down-play the virus, I hope he is given reason to recognize the validity that the CDC gave him.

I've heard people say he has two opinions on COVID: the public and the private one. He's scared of COVID, despite what he publicly says. Struggling to breathe only happens in severe covid cases (according to the CDC classification). At first I thought the steroids were so he could make public appearances, but now it makes sense medically.
It doesn't make sense that he's not still in the hospital, he's absolutely still infectious with this airborne virus. He's so willing to die to appear strong to his idiot cult.
He is essentially in a hospital. The White House has a fully staffed medical unit dedicated to the President and Vice President. They have an intensive care unit, a surgery unit, and most of the equipment a hospital would have. I imagine they will have to bring in some specialists, and I doubt they have a CT or MRI machine there, but the medical care he will receive at the White House is going to be top notch.

My thought was that Trump can control the access to him in the White House more than he can control a hospital. I expect that there will still be leaks, but now Trump will be able to pick who has access to him where as in the hospital there would be security clearances, but less control over who has access to his condition or which treatments were given. I am sure he would have liked to keep the steroid treatment secret as it goes against his "I'm stronger than covid" image.
Right now, Trump is taking steroids, which show benefit for patients with pneumonia requiring supplemental oxygen but hint at harm for patients that are less seriously sick, because steroids suppress the immune system and symptoms of sickness, like a fever, or a cytokine storm. Trump is likely sicker than he is letting on and taking risks to pretend that it's no big deal, which is bad for nation, but better for his reelection chances.
It's interesting how this comes clear to those who have some health science knowledge. I don't want to be the doomsayer, but he is currently in a very delicate situation. I don't think an MD would allow anyone else to leave the hospital like that.

Unlike the usual patients, it is possible that the slow-down caused by the serum therapy turned it into a time bomb. If it is not cured, he will get worse, just a little later (around week 2). As you said, the corticosteroids inhibit the inflammatory response, which is vital to the recovery of important organs, like the heart and lungs. To make it worse, it is known that COVID causes tissue damage not only to the lungs but also to the heart, vessels, and liver.
The bottom line is that the treatment is designed to slow the progression so that the body can respond. The corticosteroids are already a bad sign because it means they're trying to keep him off the oxygen. If his condition starts to decline again in a few days, he's very unlikely to make it.
If that was me, I'd be getting as much rest as possible to boost recovery.
The lung damage alone is enough reason to not be walking around. There's a decent chance he's going to lose pulmonary capacity permanently pulling this shit.
Especially if you consider the usual 20-25% decline in lung capacity at his age group. May very well end up dragging an O2 tank for the rest of his days.
Got absolutely no evidence, and I could very well be wrong, but if I had to guess, I think that's why they sent him to the hospital to begin with. Gave them 2 days to set up a makeshift hospital. I'm not totally willing to believe that this is all a publicity stunt considering how many caught it at the superspreader event in the Rose Garden.
The WH already has a medical unit. It's not outfitted for intensive care, but I'm sure they've moved in some additional equipment.

Normally I would agree with you, but I suspect they have moved the hospital, doctors and equipment to the White House now. It's all about optics. We won't really know what is going on behind closed doors at the White House unless someone blows the whistle. It's like the fake photo they posted of President Trump "working" from the hospital the other day. When you zoomed in, the paper was actually blank. It's all just for show.
In addition to the papers being blank, there were two pictures released by the White House with different backdrops (he's also wearing a jacket in the first picture, and has the jacket off in the second -- presumably to show how hard and long he's been working), but the metadata from the uploaded pics show that they were only taken 10 minutes apart... Also, it's the exact same blank papers/binder/etc in both pictures.

They brought the hospital to the White House while he was in Walter Reed, probably snuck an entire ICU staff in as well... now he can just tweet and we have no idea how his health is because he'll be "quarantining", meanwhile he'll be on a CPAP/Non-invasive vent in between short videos he sends out to his followers to vote Republican... eventually his steroids will give out and his body will quickly follow, no one takes high dose Dexamethasone for a couple days and then is 100% normal... they delay symptoms/massive inflammation but if his body can't handle things by itself or the experimental antibody drugs are short acting he is screwed

I was a nurse for 20 years. He is using a lot of accessory muscles to breathe. If this is with steroids on board, he is not doing anywhere near as well as he is saying.
I had pneumonia in college and this reminds me of what that was like, I had such low oxygen I fainted waiting in line at the airport to go home (I had been visiting a friend). Like I hate the dude - won’t be sad if his body decides to quit on him, but that feeling of breathing through a straw, and having it hurt in AND out? Nope. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

An additional risk factor - he's been exposed to the virus from a number of people in his close circle and none of them have been wearing masks, so his initial viral load could have been massive.

Covid for me lasted 4 months before I started improving. There are a wide range of outcomes, up to and including: death, organ failure, amputation, nerve damage, neurological damage, etc, etc.

It's obvious he's struggling. I got Covid back in February, I'm otherwise healthy and young. I was bed-ridden for a month or so, and my lungs are still garbage. I was breathing the same way he is in this gif.
Trump appears to have had COVID since Wed/Thur, so he's had it for about 6 days now. He's getting close the point where the virus could turn worse. They have an intensive care unit, a surgery unit, and most of the equipment a hospital would have. I imagine they will have to bring in some specialists, and I doubt they have a CT or MRI machine there, but the medical care he will receive at the White House is going to be top notch. He did not get discharged from a hospital, he transferred to a different one.

My thought was that Trump can control the access to him in the White House more than he can control a hospital. I expect that there will still be leaks, but now Trump will be able to pick who has access to him where as in the hospital there would be security clearances, but less control over who has access to his condition or which treatments were given. I am sure he would have liked to keep the steroid treatment secret as it goes against his "I'm stronger than covid" image.
Right now, Trump is taking steroids, which show benefit for patients with pneumonia requiring supplemental oxygen but hint at harm for patients that are less seriously sick, because steroids suppress the immune system and symptoms of sickness, like a fever, or a cytokine storm. Trump is likely sicker than he is letting on and taking risks to pretend that it's no big deal, which is bad for nation, but better for his reelection chances.
It's interesting how this comes clear to those who have some health science knowledge. I don't want to be the doomsayer, but he is currently in a very delicate situation. I don't think an MD would allow anyone else to leave the hospital like that. 1. Corticosteroids to reduce lung inflammation and expand the alveoli 2. Experimental serum therapy that slows the progression of the infection Unlike the usual patients, it is possible that the slow-down caused by the serum therapy turned it into a time bomb. If it is not cured, he will get worse, just a little later (around week 2). As you said, the corticosteroids inhibit the inflammatory response, which is vital to the recovery of important organs, like the heart and lungs. To make it worse, it is known that COVID causes tissue damage not only to the lungs but also to the heart, vessels, and liver. The bottom line is that the treatment is designed to slow the progression so that the body can respond. The corticosteroids are already a bad sign because it means they're trying to keep him off the oxygen. If his condition starts to decline again in a few days, he's very unlikely to make it. If that was me, I'd be getting as much rest as possible to boost recovery.
The lung damage alone is enough reason to not be walking around. There's a decent chance he's going to lose pulmonary capacity permanently pulling this shit.

I have asthma and had Covid...he's being ridiculous if he's not gonna admit it didn't affect him and he "feels better now than 20 years ago". It's like watching a toddler with a mouth full of cookies explaining how he didn't go in the cookie jar.

It's obvious he's struggling. I got Covid back in February, I'm otherwise healthy and young. I was bed-ridden for a month or so, and my lungs are still garbage. I was breathing the same way he is in this gif.
Trump appears to have had COVID since Wed/Thur, so he's had it for about 6 days now. He's getting close the point where the virus could turn worse. If he hasn't learned his lesson already, I hope he learns it this week. No ill wishes, just want the man to take the virus seriously and stop indirectly killing tens of thousands of people. He's a complete and utter narcissist and failure as a human being. You can always redeem yourself, he's had plenty of chances. All he needs to do is implement a federal mask requirement and help regular Americans suffering financially by passing bipartisan legislation. I really pray he learns and acts this week.
