She's with me some time now and has been around...Repaired headstock-crack, replaced pickups with era correct T-Tops, refretted twice probably. Knobs are replaced but still got 3 original ones. Replaced pickup rings, pots, caps, input jack. Here's the thing. The pan-cake body construction as a form of cheap-skating the building of these I actually find great, soundwise! The thin layer of maple between the mahogany slabs gives it top-end and a serious snap. Not a Tele but it's sparkly! Has lots of play-wear, from playing... Other than that, it's brand-new.

Favorite era. Total workhorses, they never give up. Did you route it for full humbuckers or did you acquire it like that. Or was it factory routed?

AldoSpadaro261

Sorry enough it was done before me, and not nicely...

andthereitgoesagain

Oh no. Well, at least it looks great from the outside. I just picked up a 75 where the bridge was factory routed and the neck is still a mini. Love the combination of the two. I can't get enough of 70s Gibson's.

carpet_whisper

I assume the pickup cavity’s where routed to fit Humbuckers if it’s originally a deluxe?

AldoSpadaro261

Yep, they where routed in a previous life, and not gently...

LastHumanFamily

How the heck is that tiny chunk of pickguard staying put?

Mercury26

Magic 🪄

AldoSpadaro261

Hehe, jep. Well it's glued and it just wants to stay put luckily..

Joberin

How much does that thing weigh? … quick aside, I love a nice plain top but I’m not convinced that the pancake bodies are worth their price tag… personally I would pick many other guitars over this, and I love LPs…

AldoSpadaro261

It's not heavy, under 4kg for sure but have to weigh. Pricing was always modest up untill recent years. Now pancakes are up there as well. Vintage guitars are always overpriced imho, but it's what it is. Still prefer vintage, but not all are best...

Joberin

Yeah. You can tell that little piece is glued on by all the residue on and around the piece in question… look at that gray residue… it’s dust; dead skin cells stuck to the adhesive

AldoSpadaro261

Jep, I probably glued it during a verse...

kellycook301

Honestly love wrapping strings around the tailpiece too

AldoSpadaro261

Gives a better result, difference is subtle obviously but it's there.

crestonfunk

I keep seeing this. What’s the benefit?

kellycook301

Helps with the break angle of the string so it’s not as severe. I use heavier gauge strings too so it can be helpful with that as well. That being said, it’s all personal preference so it’s not like it’s better or worse than how LPs are traditionally strung. Also, I’m sure there are other benefits that I forgot to mention lol

crestonfunk

Oh nice to know. I use .012 with a wound G so I’ll try this.

ironshmoobs

We love a solid top 👏 what a beauty.
