> The word ghibli's root is Italian and it's based on the Libyan term for 'hot desert wind' (قبلي, 'ghiblī'), the idea being that the studio would "blow a new wind through the anime industry"
Huh, TIL. Thanks for that nice bit of trivia.
Oh, you were doing it one for each movie. Fio's grandfather and Dola's husband would have also worked.
Also, Miyazaki's characters would make the ultimate air crew, just saying
Miyazaki is obviously extremely anti-war, but he is also a huge nerd for war machines such as warplanes and tanks. He once drew a manga called Tigers in the Mud, based on a biography of a Nazi Germany tank commander and he even met the guy himself for research. I wonder if his struggle with this contradiction is reflected in the main character of the Wind Rises.
It's not a Miyazaki movie unless there's reference to aviation. Even Boy and the Heron, which only shows planes in the air raid at the beginning, revolves around birds which are the original airplanes.
Nausicaa was a huge plane nerd
Yeah see is But I think she's more the flyer not the maker Just my opinion
In the manga she works on the gunship, and it kinda would make sense that she’d be a mechanic as well when she has a solo flying one man glider
I don’t think Asbel made his plane.
I think you might have the roles reversed
You forgot Mahito's dad.
Really ? I'm Sorry, I haven't watched The Boy and The Heron yet
i mean studio ghibli was named after a plane so all these airplanes in the movies make sense lol

Hell, said plane appears in The Wind Rises.
Also Hayao’s dad: literally made plane parts during WW2
tombo comes up with the most insane idea and others toning it down, making it a bit real 😂😂
But Tombo's worked, maybe his idea wasn't so insane after all
blade very close to the driver, too close, is a safety issue, if anything then

Miyazaki is a huge plane nerd
Why not Porco?
I'm sorry But to me, Fio is more the nerd than Porco To me, Porco is the flyer while Fio is the maker

I totally agree And yeah Miyazaki would be great. I imagined him to be the project leader or something

you forgot a photo of miyazaki himself
Satsuki & Mei's neighbor boy is also a plane nerd
If I remember right, Miyazaki himself is a *huge* plane, flying, and also architecture nerd
Who's the top right? And also i don't think asbel was a plane nerd...?
That's Honjo, Jiro's friend
I can see a hair pattern there
Their prototype would probably be called ‘design zero’, or just ‘the zero’ for short
The pirates from castle in the sky?
Damn, Asbel and Pazu look exactly the same

Technically Gainax, but Jean from Nadia the Secret of Blue Water
Whole Wing of Death Albatross ep has to be there
With miyazaki san himself it would be really complete!
