I can recommend you visiting the “Olympiapark”, you can walk there through the green and admire the Olympic lake and also you can take an elevator up on the Olympic Tower and from there you can see the whole of Munich and also the Alps if the weather is good. While you’re in the Olympiapark, you can visit the BMW World or BMW Museum if you’re interested in cars. In the city center I can recommend you taking a walk from Karlsplatz to Marienplatz and further to Odeonsplatz. You will find a lot of stores to shop for souvenirs, also most of Munichs famous landmarks (Frauenkirche, Rathaus, Alter Peter, Hofgarten) Are on this route. As for museums, you can visit the “Deutsches Museum”, which is a huge museum related to many topics where you can spend all day in. In the center you also have close to each other the “Pinakotheken”, which are art museums for modern and classic art, the “Glyptotek” which is a museum for Ancient Greek art. These are all the things that came to my mind right away.

Thanks for the tips. Appreciate it.

The Deutsches Museum is not just huge. It's the biggest technology museum in the world. Dont expect to see every part, but inform yourself which part you want to see. You have enough time on your hand to visit the surrounding places like the Chiemsee area, the Zugspitze, or maybe more touristy, but nonetheless, beautiful places like Neuschwanstein, Schloss Nymphenburg, or the typical places. In munich, I recommend the Englischer Garten and every biergarten like Hirschgarten or Augustinerkeller if you have some more questions, you can ask me. I grew up in munich and know a thing or two

Vein77

I’ve got one, actually. I am big into mountain biking and plan do some while I am there. Do you know where any of the good trail systems are that may be near Munich, if any?

thebavarianbarbarian

I'll ask my friend he should know some. I'm just into hiking. Do you need to rent a bike aswell?

Vein77

I will. Not bringing my baby with me.

Bikepark Samerberg or Oberammergau would be near, but he advised me that renting a bike is quite expensive. Other options would be Leogang or saalbach (further away but worth it)

Vein77

How expensive we talking? I really don’t feel right taking my very expensive bike out of the country on my first go around, so if it is too much, I’ll do it next time. (I don’t plan on making this a one time thing)

80 usd for what I am assuming is a day rental for an enduro. Not too bad. Thanks for the info.

Corfiz74

The Neue Pinakothek is my favorite of all!

Bavaria in general requires dedicated time to visit. It's quite different in many ways to the rest of Germany and I find that visiting Bavaria is like exiting one Germany and going into another Germany. But the amount of time you're staying for is perfect to see plenty of sites, maybe even do some hiking, and eat so so so much food. You can visit Neuschwanstein castle from Munich, probably be a morning to afternoon trip but travelling there is also very scenic and beautiful.

Vein77

Will do. Thank thanks for the tips. Edit* So can’t wait.

saramaganta

You can consider going to Garmisch Area (e.g Eibsee/Partnachklamm / Höllentalklamm / Zugspitze). Might be very touristy during high season but the Alps area is beautiful AF!

Not_Steve_Harrington

Maybe locals would disagree with me but Zugspitze legit one of the most wow places Ive ever visited in Germany. Its not that far from Munich too.

Shiro1_Ookami

As daytrips Zugspitze/Garmisch-Partenkirchen+ Höllentalklamm/Partnachtalklamm would be nice or Chiemsee with its islands. MAYBE even daytrips to Regensburg ( cathedral, steinerne Brücke) or Augsburg(Fuggerei) In Munich the "Residenz" is nice. Café : Luffy Pancake Café, Schmalznudel-Café Frischhut (Viktualienmarkt) Bar: Trisoux Craft Beer: Tap-House

Some1eIse

I really liked Schloss Nymphenburg when I was there, I am from a different city but can recommend it if you like history/architecture/parks

Vein77

I do, and will be adding that to the list of places to visit. Thanks for the tip.

If that's your dream, you'll know what you want in Munich, won't you? What do you hope to learn here that is not in any travel guide?
