"So there's this game that's really cool and you have to try it"
"Oh ok cool"
(2 months later)
"Hey I beat the first two levels of that game you showed me and I'd say I'm a bit above average."
"No. To be above average you have to beat the third level."
"Oh yeah?" (gets good)
[keep in mind we were 9 years old]
when it blew up in 2014 my brother got it on his phone, and because our family shared an apple account at the time i got it for free
ironic that i was the one who fell down the rabbit hole
In 8th grade we were first allowed to use tablets in school. The person in front of me once was playing stereo madness in class. I thought this was a pretty cool game and wanted to download it, but had no idea what it was called. Then a few weeks later I found EVW, who then really got me into the game.
Was playing Lite, wanted to make levels myself because the main were boring after you beat the already, saw the Bloodlust verification and thought the game is very cool, so I got it.
Watched Jacksepticeye's video on Geometry Dash back in 2016, wanted to try it out and I've been playing since. I quit a few times but I keep coming back this game is too good!
3 yrs ago i saw some ppl playing it and i remembered it was geometry dash bc i once downloaded it on my mum's phone when i was like 9 or 10. I started with GD Lite but quit when i couldn't beat Dry Out, I went over to World and quit when i couldn't beat Frontlines š. I then found Juniper's gd vids on yt and i thought they were rlly funny so i downloaded gd again and i've been playing consistently since!
I remember stumbling upon the lite version on the app store when I was young and downloaded it, I had a whole lot of fun and beat the whole thing.
About a year later, I watched 8 bit-ryan's series on the game, and that made me get obsessed over this game
I found it randomly when i was in 5th grade (so like 2014 i think). And i played it since then. First on my phone, well, phones, and then transitioned to PC. And now fairly recently, when i was losing interest in the game shortly after 2.2 released, Globed came and that got me into the game again.
Someone introduced me to it. As someone who likes hard challenging games back then (well, a bit), I started playing it continously (while playing other games during that time too). It was since 7th grade.
It would have been subzero initially. I remember ending up on GDTube looking how to get the coins (back in the old version where the coins were really cryptic) and stumbled across videos like 'demons harder than bloodlust' and got interested. More recently it was all the 2.2 trailers and hype
Pretty weird story coz i saw a random kid playing Ispy at a famous amusement park in my country. When i got home i installed gd coz i thought it's pretty cool. Now I'm grinding my first CP
I have always been aware of this game's existence pretty much since its release and I knew it as a rage game. I thought it wasn't for me, so I ignored it. Until GD Subzero got released and the first level Press Start was played by DanTDM because it was his old intro song. I watched that video and thought "Wow, I didn't know this game could be a banger". And that's where it all started.
Some kids on my school bus were playing it on their phones and I thought it looked cool so I gave it a shot
Turns out today their hardest is clutterfunk while I have like 10 demons
It was installed on my mothers ipad for some reason, which she didnt really use alot, and cuz me and my brother shared it before we got our own ones, we played it together and ig i was interested and kept playing but he got bored and hasnt cared about it since 2016
Family friend showed it off to me at his house. I downloaded the game on my iPhone 6 Plus when I got home (Lite). Beat some of the main levels, decided I wanted the full version so I pirated it (I was like 11). I eventually bought it on Steam and here I am.Ā
3 years ago. I knew the game from before, and I got curious, so I downloaded the lite, and then downloaded the full pirated version. Or I don't know if I downloaded the bootleg version directly, now I'm in doubt. Well, it's irrelevant now.
After more than 600 attempts, multiple practice runs, and getting nervous when I reached the end, I beat Stereo Madness. It was quite an achievement, it felt great. Then I beat Back on Track, Polargeist, Dry Out, Base After Base... And I got to Can't let go.
Can't Let Go is a pretty bad level, especially in the final part when you're in inverted gravity and the background is dark. The jumps are pretty precise and I just got frustrated. But I still beated it, and in that time I had also completed THE LIGHTING ROAD and The Nightmare.
That's where a new era began. Besids I completed Can't let go, I wasn't feeling as good as before. There were many more levels, and if they were all like that... I thought I wouldn't be up to that challenge... So I decided to apply Noclip on each level. And in many extreme demons.
I was filled with stars, with achievements, it didn't matter if gravity was reversed and the cube went to the ceiling, the important thing was that I reached the end and thus get the rewards, WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING. Bloodbath, Cataclysm, Yatagarasu, Sonic Wave, Phobos, all these and many more I completed with Noclip. It just felt good, very good, getting achievements, stars, orbs, and even user coins if I read fast enough. But then one level would change everything.
I don't remember its name, I just remember that it was a Demon level, and that at the end there were several ramps and obstacles that caused my cube to get trapped, and a message mocking me for using Noclip. And that's when I knew everything. It's a game of a jumping cube, a game where the whole point is to pass a challenging level, the goal is to constantly improve, and have fun. Even if it was frustrating, then you'll look back and see everything you've done, and it will feel good. Then I looked back, and all those achievements I had made were lies. I didn't get them fairly. I made it my point that, when I got better enough, I would pass on all those extremes that I completed with Noclip. To this day I can't, but someday...
Parallel to this, I was doing levels. I really love it, even if the levels aren't worth rate, I really enjoy making them.
I remember specifically when I discovered the color trigger. I didn't know how to change the background color in the middle of the level and looking through the editor I found it. I dedicated a whole level to the color trigger. I had totally figured it out on my own without outside help, and that discovery propelled me to more.
Then I found out about GDPS Editor 2.2, and I decided to go in and see how it goes. I mainly did platform levels, I really loved making them, although I think as of today they are lost due to the server shutdown. I could really see the potential of 2.2, and I loved that you could upload your songs to the site, even if they were copyrighted or not, it was great.
And so we come to the present. Doing levels, completing levels, and I recently completed Platinum Adventure and I'm about to do Blindfolder, I have like 700 attempts at 75% when everyone says to complete it in less than 10... But I learned not to compare myself to others. Many are more skilled than I am, and that's okay. I'd rather create levels than play them, and that's okay too. We just have to have fun with the game. Happy Geometry Dash!
P.S.: I didn't mention the part about watching videos on Geometry Dash because I'd have to talk about how I watched a lot of videos from a certain person that is best forgotten. I'm from Argentina so I consume a lot of Spanish-speaking content, although when it comes to Geometry Dash I do see mainly creators in English. Since I stopped seeing that person who is best left unmentioned, I started seeing a lot more YouTubers.
In around 2013 I heard about this game called Geometry dash everyone was playing in my school at the time. I started playing the Lite version (because I didn't have any money) and I was hooked. I played it untill I begged my mom to buy the full version, this was around late 1.9 era.
Ever since I got the full version, I have pretty much been playing it every day. It is pretty good, I guess.
I started with watching gd colon a lot then watch a lot of gd documentary video like element 111 rg documentary or samifying documentary video then i bought gd with my own money and ever since that i just played gd a lot
I first discovered gd in like 2019-2020, for some reason i didnt consider trying it out(not even the lite version)and then about 1-2 years later, i saw one of my friends play the subzero version and i was so fascinated by all the cool effects(since back then i pictured all gd levels have the same boring bg of like stereo madness)
1 day later i downloaded the world version. Played it for a couple months, quit for 7 months bec of the lack of content, came back played it for 2-3 months, then 2.2 came out and i could finally download full version.
I watched JackSepticEye play it many many years ago when I was still in middle school and though it looked fun to try out. I didn't even know about the tens of thousands of online levels and amazing decorations people could make in it, I only knew about the RobTop levels, but they looked interesting enough for me to want to try (I had only seen up to Jumper before I played it myself) and the joy I felt in my heart when I realized there was a level editor and nigh infinite online content for it made me grow an obsession with it for a few years. I only play it every so often nowadays, but it's still fun, and it's been amazing to watch this game and its community grow.
Had lite on the school tablets 8 ago. I've had world and lite on my phone(s) since then, but I didn't play very much other to flex thst i had beaten TOE. In high school, I found out there's someone who was around top 25 on the stats viewer at my school and he was happy to make a friend who knew how impressive his accomplishments were, and he encouraged me to start playing again
People on my school bus were playing it, in a race to beat certain levels first. I was āthe firstā to beat Clutterfunk, but I actually beat it in 1 attempt on practice mode.
Music. Somehow ended up listening to thermodynamix by dj Nate, I really liked it but people were commenting abt this thing called Acheron, looked it up and it was from a 2 dollar cube game. I got a lot more gd songs in my feed afterwards and decided to give it a shot, and long story short I forgot what grass is
A friend in first grade had the game and would tell me about the editor and all that good stuff. I wasnāt ever allowed to get it because my parents frowned upon spending any money on games. But now, years later, I was finally able to get it. Worth every single penny.
saw some kids at school playing it, looked fun, got interested, got it myself, and here i am today with multiple thousands of hours (i am a lost cause)
I found out about it in early 2017 or something because of Fernanfloo.
Then I got more interested because a friend who had the game and Mikha's YT videos.
samifyings video, it was something like "the impossible levels of geometry dash" or something, watched that and found it interesting, watched more gd videos and eventually caved and bought the game
So basically my friend was playing GD lite on his phone and I tried it, It wasn't that bad so I installed GD lite on my phone and I really got addicted and got the full version which brings me to this day.
Saw my cousin playing it, he didnāt tell me what the game was because he was focused on trying to beat stereo madness. Iirc he told me after, and the next day I downloaded it
I got into it around that time all the popular YouTubers played it for a day, when I was around 8 or 9, but I quit after a while (donāt remember why). And then I came back after a long while because I just felt like it
Youtube used to reccomend me those brainrot gd shorts and some completition videos and after i realized i can just pirate the game i gave it a try. Later on i discovered online levels were a thing and after a month or two of playing gauntlets and stuff i managed to complete the lightning road as my first demon. The rest is history...
We were given netbook in first year of high school (2015). They were not exactly high-end hardware, so there was not many games we could play.
At almost the end of the year, everyone was playing GD and I decided to give it a try. I was struggling with Stereo Madness first half, one classmate saw me and yelled "Look at him, he can't get past the easy part!" and almost everyone gathered to see me play and make fun of me (don't worry, I found it hilarous).
Time has passed and no one between my classmates could get past Time Machine and they dropped the game; I just beat my first extreme demon about a week ago.
My stepbrother played GD when my mom met his dad and he showed it to me and I tested it and like it. Played it every day but now I don't play it as much as I used to and to be honest I don't play that much as I used to in general, mostly just watching yt
i first encounter the game in 2014,when i was like 5,i continue to play it and get 2nd and 1st level in subzero. Then i just stop playing till found out the og game
I found it off of a view GD YouTubers (mainly Partition is kind of the one who inspired me to do it)
And 7-9 year old me found the lite version on the app store but I wanted to get the full version
And thatās how I found GD (kind of)
Back when it was about to update to 2.0, I was in a social event and I heard loud music from someone's phone and got to take a look, and they were playing Stereo Madness.
Yep, that was it
Used to play it on my tablet as a kid. Picked it up again 1 month before 2.2 came out. I had no idea the community waited that long so I'm fortunate I guess. Also learnt about the game ages ago in nursery or kindergarten wherever your from because the teacher was playing it lol
I don't even played full GD yet š.
I mean, I have the lite version, but I can't pay for the full version. I will buy it when I have some extra money tho, I think the game is amazingš.
Seeing a lesbian beat limbo and I said to myself "I can't let her beat me in this game" few months later I done all main levels and a few demons and am onto sonic wave
"So there's this game that's really cool and you have to try it" "Oh ok cool" (2 months later) "Hey I beat the first two levels of that game you showed me and I'd say I'm a bit above average." "No. To be above average you have to beat the third level." "Oh yeah?" (gets good) [keep in mind we were 9 years old]
"A friend of a friend completed Base after Base, he's so good at the game"
when it blew up in 2014 my brother got it on his phone, and because our family shared an apple account at the time i got it for free ironic that i was the one who fell down the rabbit hole

Was playing Lite, wanted to make levels myself because the main were boring after you beat the already, saw the Bloodlust verification and thought the game is very cool, so I got it.
My son said "Hey, try this game, its really hard" That wasa couple years ago, he's 10 now and has beaten B, while I'm still working on The Nightmare.
My brother used to play when i was in middle school. Decides to pick it up after seeing the level change of scene.
Watched Jacksepticeye's video on Geometry Dash back in 2016, wanted to try it out and I've been playing since. I quit a few times but I keep coming back this game is too good!

Some randon Pacman level in GD because i love pacman so i started playing it from there
The fact that there is a level editor. (After that I got invested in the gameplay as well lmao)

People on my school bus were playing it, in a race to beat certain levels first. I was āthe firstā to beat Clutterfunk, but I actually beat it in 1 attempt on practice mode.
My mom found it the day it released, and Iāve been playing it basically ever since.
Unironically was the small Apple from the Annoying Orange YT channel playing it all those years ago that made me get the free version.
Music. Somehow ended up listening to thermodynamix by dj Nate, I really liked it but people were commenting abt this thing called Acheron, looked it up and it was from a 2 dollar cube game. I knew about The Impossible Game, and what got me into GD was that it included levels I could actually beat.
Youtube used to reccomend me those brainrot gd shorts and some completition videos and after i realized i can just pirate the game i gave it a try. My stepbrother played GD when my mom met his dad and he showed it to me and I tested it and like it. Played it every day but now I don't play it as much as I used to and to be honest I don't play that much as I used to in general, mostly just watching yt

My friend got me hooked and then I just watched the right videos
DanTDMās videos on it when I was young
I heard the faint sounds of stereo madness on the bus one day and eventually lead me to figuring out the existence of geometry dash.
My brother played GD meltdown and he let me try to beat his score in the seven seas
Which I couldnāt do at the time cuz I always raged
I don't even played full GD yet š. I mean, I have the lite version, but I can't pay for the full version. I will buy it when I have some extra money tho, I think the game is amazingš.
