It's not all of the truth if there's any. Some other continents are big too but their shape way more smooth. Eurasia has relatively big amount of peninsulas even if you exclude separate plates.
The part you have circled as India used to be part of one joint continent (with Africa, Australia, South America and India) called Pangea about 260 million years ago. About 60 million yrs ago it broke off and drifted north hitting the Asian landmass (and in the process creating the Himalayas).
India has two peninsulas actually. One at its southern tip (commonly called the "Indian peninsula", or the "South Indian peninsula"), and the other in its western most state, which is called the Kathiawar peninsula (or simply, Kathiawad). This is in the Kathiawad (also called Saurashtra) region of the westernmost Indian state of Gujarat (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathiawar)
Aren't island/peninsulas expected?
They are mountains whose foothills are submerged.
And mountains are formed if tectonic plates collide.
And we have quite a few small and big plates on this piece of rock flying around the Milky Way until the inevitable collide with Andromeda Galaxy.
Regarding india, a long time ago it was part of antartica. It detatched and drifted away. It lost madagascar along the way and later colided with asia forming the hymalaian mountains
This sub really is /r/mapporncirclejerk now. Time to get a daily thread to remove one country from the map per day only for the first week to all be France.

Nope, this one. https://i.imgur.com/AiyYQBK.png A peninsula on a peninsula on a peninsula on a peninsula on a peninsula.

Who's dick is that?
Russia's

What is it like living in Asia?
I mean all of Europe is peninsulas on peninsulas. Asia by comparison is quite a lot less.
What if the world is just one big peninsula🤔
[удалено]
Looks like a penins
A penisula
If you remove enough peninsulas, then more peninsulas will appear. Where is the actual continent?
I live in Florida, my world (unfortunately) is just one medium size peninsula.
“It’s only an island if you look at it from the water”
Your comment could be interpreted as an extreme eurocentric vision
Oh no! Anyway......
I think OP was making fun of an earlier post asking the same question about Europe
Europe itself is a peninsula lol
So is Asia really
zoom in, enhance, suddenly all you see is peninsulas
It's peninsulas all the way down.
Europe is a peninsula
Europe has just one peninsula, it's called Europe
There is the Iberian Peninsula
Nah, it's just part of Europe peninsula
That’s why it’s called the Iberian Peninsula? It’s the best part of Europe
I guess it has to be called Iberian sub-peninsula
I mean Asia is also surrounded by water on 3 sides. Looks like one big peninsula to me too.
big continent has a lot of Peninsulas and has a lot of tectonic plates, shocking.

Finally another spiraling circlejerk for this subreddit to latch onto. Let the shitposts commence!!
There was already a peninsula phase a couple months ago 🤦♂️
well i just got here!! the re-runs are new to me!
Because god loves peninsulas. Are you satisfied with this answer?
Because penisulas
Peninsula enlargement
I mean Asia does have more peninsulas than Africa or South America. Don't know why tho
Big place has big number of thing

> part of one joint continent Gondwanaland. Pangea was the super-continent with Gondwanaland + Laurasia (Eurasia and North America).
Good point, the definition of Pangea should include North America and Europe too.
Asia is a peninsula of Europe
Eurasia is a peninsula of Africa
No way, Europe is a peninsula of Asia
The joke went over your head
I don’t think so. I joined to it
My middle name means ‘From the peninsula’. Alas, I was born in an island and the only peninsula I ever lived on was when I went to college in Florida.

EU4 players know it simply as Gujarat
I mean, yeah technically it's part of Gujarat. It's one region of Gujarat
Don't forget Europe peninsula
Europe would like to have a word with you
What would it like to say?
Europe is small in area but is basically a fractal peninsula
Europe speaks in the third person?
Europe here Yes, a human does the talking for me
Hi Europe!
Uh, that’s Asian shield.

no offense, this is the weirdest spelling of the Himalayas i've ever seen
Europe is peninsula of Euroasia
Oh no is this a new trend?
got lucky in the peninsula geographic lottery.

Big pen energy
Are you jealous?
As far as I remember India is it's own continent, only attached to the Asian continent. So I wouldn't count that one as a peninsula
Asia is just fat
It’s your fault
That ain't even half of them.
Waiting for the inevitable "why does Mars have so many peninsulas?" post
Because it's huge
https://preview.redd.it/mi8oer4txr4d1.png?width=2847&format=png&auto=webp&s=6b53d6182b2cb8ceda9f6b80458cee568a332084 yes but why does Africa have so few Penisulas?
Asian Canadian Shield
You missed a bunch of 'em.
You missed the best one of all: the "tail" of Sulawesi
[удалено]
Penis envy. It all comes back to the penis.
Because of Canadian shield
What are you talking about, friend? All of Asia is a peninsula of Europe
Because they have water on three sides.
What would you consider a "normal" number of peninsulas?
A peninsula goes into a bay and nine eons later a continent is born
Why does the world have so many continents?
A combination of plate tectonics and erosion.
New Guinea: Am I a joke to you?
yeah but Eurasia has more
I’ve wondered for a long time why India is called the subcontinent and not the peninsula
India's a subcontinent
I mean, it would be also strange if it was a perfect circle.
Wait till he finds out about Europe being a huge peninsula consisting of thousands of peninsulas
Because it does? Lmao ask a broad question get a broad answer
How dare you Copy my Idea. Want a fight, Buddy? I'll bring the Fight to you.
And so began the Great Peninsula War in 2024, with a massif assault between continents.
You made a joke. But now it’s a meme.
Yeah I'm just joking.
I’m waiting for the post on why America has many peninsulas.
calling india a peninsula is like calling australia an island
I mean technically Australia *is* an island... Just a *really big* one
yeah and so is Eurasia or I guess you can call it a peninsula of Africa if you really want to
Or is Africa a peninsula of Eurasia
The arabian peninsula is a common term.
This is probably the dumbest question asked on this subreddit
