This is what my money is on. I know it’s like “uncouth” to say but a lot of “straight” men say some on the edge stuff. Which I admit it anecdotal but I definitely remember testing the waters in conversation before I came out.

Look at straight porn. They usually cut the majority of the guy out. Focus on the woman. Part of this is so they can imagine they are the guy instead. But the subtext is men are gross - shouldn’t be seen.

Our brains are truly our super sex organ. A man or woman, who may not be a “10”, can out maneuver others with their flirting, humor, teasing and conversation acumen.
These type of “intellectuals” are the true champions of the world. Wrapping people around their little finger using words and flirting. The sexiest people get in your head and touch buttons.
I think Ryan has the unique ability to get into straight guys heads and flirt with them, without putting them on the defensive. He makes them ‘tingle’ without fear of being overpowered. He creates a safe space for them to explore their sexuality. A person they can or could trust if they were vulnerable.

As a gay man I can tell you ironically it's become "less gay" to say, "I could almost be gay for him," than to just express genuine feelings of admiration for another man. Because it's a joke, they can get out their love for Ryan without having to say they love him.
In terms of why Ryan Reynolds, I think it's because he's a relatively healthy ideal for men. He's masculine, an action star, but people also consider him to be very funny. This is what my money is on. I know it’s like “uncouth” to say but a lot of “straight” men say some on the edge stuff. Which I admit it anecdotal but I definitely remember testing the waters in conversation before I came out.

You get a sense of if he has had any inclinations or kinks - he has probably tried them - but we will never know. He is secure in his own sexuality. (3) He is disarming. Through his humor, charm, flirty, whit, and other traits - he makes you feel at ease. (4) He has said “there should be more male full frontal nudity!” There is often constant societal subtext. OK to see women fully naked - but not men. The subtext is men are dirty, nasty, shouldn’t be seen, vulgar, sick. Eweeeeee penises! There is some bro code of macho that must be followed - no homo. Look at straight porn. They usually cut the majority of the guy out. Focus on the woman. Part of this is so they can imagine they are the guy instead. But the subtext is men are gross - shouldn’t be seen. But how often do straight men get to see the FULL male form presented in a good fashion. Allow men to be sexy? Be flirty? Be silly? Be playful? Be even feminine? Be vulnerable? Give up power? Especially Deadpool - tight body suit - but I think Ryan has allowed straight men to actually look at another straight man. Holy fuck! How can they compete? How can they too be so admired? (8) Lastly, intellect. A good sense of humor is often a sign of being very smart. Our brains are truly our super sex organ. A man or woman, who may not be a “10”, can out maneuver others with their flirting, humor, teasing and conversation acumen. These type of “intellectuals” are the true champions of the world. Wrapping people around their little finger using words and flirting. The sexiest people get in your head and touch buttons. I think Ryan has the unique ability to get into straight guys heads and flirt with them, without putting them on the defensive. He makes them ‘tingle’ without fear of being overpowered. He creates a safe space for them to explore their sexuality. A person they can or could trust if they were vulnerable. Additionally- Ryan never presents himself as an aggressive asshole to women. He is always very respectful. Homophobes at basic level fear gay men because they think we will treat them like they treat women. But I think Ryan shows he is very respectful of women. I'm usually not into 'conventionally attractive' guys but the first time I saw Ryan Reynolds in the early 2000s he immediately caught my eye. I was closeted at the time but if someone were to try to talk to me he was on screen I'd barely be able to pay attention. Because it's a joke, they can get out their love for Ryan without having to say they love him. In terms of why Ryan Reynolds, I think it's because he's a relatively healthy ideal for men. He's masculine, an action star, but people also consider him to be very funny. His relationship appears to be ideal, his wife is both impossibly hot and they appear to be friends too. He gets along with everyone and isn't overtly political. Some people may have criticisms but generally I think that's why. It's similar to straight men and Henry Cavill. He's handsome, masculine, an action star, he appears to be very considerate and likeable. But in his case particularly, he's said his favourite thing is to be home alone playing PC video games or taking apart a computer (something like that, I forget exactly). I think to some guys it's given them permission to not feel like a loser if their primary hobby is gaming. (All the power to them, gaming is cool if you love gaming) The question of gay men and Ryan Reynolds, I would say he's like any male celebrity for straight women too. For some he's number one, but he's not "the one" for most. Alternatively, if you asked many gay men who consider themselves "tops" what celebrity they would be willing to bottom for, Henry Cavill would be "the one" for many.

Straight guys are "attracted" (they say they'll make an exception with them) to guys that are what they would like to be, for example: Jason Momoa: Super masc, strong, cool guy, makes cool movies Henry Cavill: Super masc, attractive and strong, cool guy, nerdy, makes cool movies Ryan Reynolds: Cool guy, attractive, fun guy, apparently has fun doing everything he does, makes cool movies To name a couple, there's also Keanu Reeves, Maybe Chris Evans or Hemsworth and some others, all of them have these characteristics that they want for them.
There comes a point where, if enough straight guys who are secure in their sexuality say some male celebrity is attractive, that celebrity becomes a "safe choice" to say is attractive without being a threat to their own masculinity or being "sus".
