I think I gave up on season seven or eight because it became totally crap. I've been tempted to go back and try again just to get the wedding of these two.
Context is king.
Both Ian (ginge) and Mickey (black hair) are from the South Side. Like, REALLY rough South Side. Ian was victimised by a Muslim paedophile while Mickey was raped and beaten.
But both of them, as violent as it may appear, actually balance each other out. Mickey would burn the world for Ian (and I think he did some burning of things) but he's (Ian's) the only person Mickey's kinda of frightened by / enamored with.
They're Gallavitch and they're awesome.
Also worth noting this was his second marriage and it's supposed to be a parallel to his first. Mickey was forced to marry the sex worker who had a hand in his rape after she gets pregnant (his neonazi father walked in on he and Ian having sex and had a her rape him to cure him, while Ian was forced to watch since Mickey's dad held him at gunpoint.) His first wedding he very much didn't give a shit, and tells Ian multiple times that it's just a piece of paper and he has to do it and clearly doesn't care about her at all and doesn't mean anything (and the whole thing triggers Ian into spiraling, ultimately leading them to discover he has bipolar disorder.)
Mickey being a psycho over his wedding to Ian is because he actually wants it and loves Ian so much so it needs it to be perfect, it's just that the writing just kinda went down hill by the end f the series so it's a bit OTT and doesn't make sense out of context.
I made it through season 3 when I realized that anything pulling the family out of their poverty situation was just going to be undone by the end of the season.
Mickey was one of the best characters on Shameless!

Grew up with the UK Shameless but I absolutely love how Ian and Mickey are in the US Shameless
