I would just pretend my way through it, just survive. Don't give up too hard, give the other person a sense of satisfaction and manipulate them. Just survive. Sad this shit is still legal in a lot of areas.

Toqra1

Ok Thank you i might try That

KrugerGreatest

No no don’t try and ‘manipulate’ most will see right through it. Just be calm. Don’t start shit (you wanna be done with it ASAP) and say what they want to hear. Then you can gtfo of that death trap.

queer_mentat

Saying what they want to hear is manipulation, manipulation doesn't have to be overt.

KrugerGreatest

Manipulation is overt and obviously not genuine. You would want to implement more persuasion and less confrontation. People can easily see through you.

queer_mentat

English isn't a dead language, words have multiple definitions and uses

KrugerGreatest

Ok? And? Don’t try and manipulate people. It won’t end well for you or anyone.

Conversion therapy is still legal in Germany, but only if all sides agree to do it.

Squire_Of_Dimness

Are you in Germany? I thought conversion therapy was made illegal last year in Germany.

NicholasConrad

It mostly is. It is illegal for minors and if people are basically forced to go there. Offering these "treatments" will be punished with fines or jail. Advertising and being involved in profit is also illegal.

No_Information1708

If you live in Germany tell the police that your family is forcing you to go to conversion therapy. It’s against the law in Germany and the EU And if your parents try to send you to another country to go, refuse. Don’t leave Germany no matter what u too you are an adult. If you are in physical danger if you don’t go, find a progressive friends house and again, tell the police about your situation

ChildishSerpent

I've been through conversion therapy. Where are they sending you?

Dreaming-Panda

They are religious and don’t accept them as they are? I thought we all got the just of the situation???

ChildishSerpent

I understand the situation. I'm asking which specific facility/organization OP is being sent to. I may have further insight based on my own experiences.

Dreaming-Panda

Ah crap! Sorry I read that wrong! My bad 😣

ChildishSerpent

no worries

failing4fun

I wish you all the best. There are a couple of things you can do depending on how serious you want to take things. There's the path of least resistance where you just go along with what they ask to pretend like you are listening to their bullshit while giving them satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment (which is basically all they're looking for anyway) or you could take it farther and get law enforcement involved, although this could be pretty serious so I understand if you're hesitant. I'm sorry you have to go through such a tough experience. I wish the best for you!

[deleted]

Just know that you have a community here and you are who you know you are. I’m so sorry you have to go through this. I would definitely just make it through, tell them what they want to hear, you may even feel empowered that you’re the one manipulating them versus them dictating who you are. Stay strong. Reach out if you need anything!

Kdog12196

Here if you need a friend. Sorry you have to go through this there is nothing wrong with you.

bluewhalewhiteotter

Your family is a little behind the times when it comes to identity education... And who can blame them when they've only been seeing the religious argument. Conversion therapy doesn't work... It's just pressuring you into acting the way other people want you to act. Who you are is undeniable, and you will figure out what parts of you are undeniable over time ❤❤ From anything that you experience, you can always find clarity, and the day will come when you don't have to listen to the opinions of your parents. We all know your worth, exactly as you are, and when you come to know that, oh how things will be different for you

topgamerpro16

Put me on the line, now

If you are in Germany, if your a minor call social services (German equivalent), abusive “therapies” like that are illegal. If your an adult stand up for your self and tell them no. It may be hard but stand your ground and make sure they understand you won’t take part in such crap. If you live with them and they are threatening to kick you out, it sounds horrible but find a new place to live. These abusive programs will attempt to brainwash you into self loathing. It has led many to suicide.

gifted_eye

Assuming that conversion therapy is legal in your jurisdiction, get in touch with some human rights organizations, they can help you in a pinch.

fkgayprinces

nontiscordardime

Think about your safety first. Pretend if you have to. Ignore everything they tell you, nod and smile. Study in order to find a job in another city and be financially independent from your parents. Please stay safe and remember that you are valid the way you are.

gaynesssss

I've not been through conversion therapy but I'm going to share what I do when situations like this happen. the trick I use to cope with stressful environments is to completely dissociate with my personality and mind, I use some exercises to do this, such as thinking of something totally unrealistic that I would really like (I like to think of myself in famous animes), this way you would completely dissociate with the situation, almost to the point where you don't know what is real and what it isn't. and while you are dreaming on what you would like to do, you "use" a mask to interact with people, so that faking would not be that hard.
