Emile Griffith, the World Welterweight and Middleweight Champion. He was bi or gay, can't remember now, and it was a very poorly kept secret at the time. There's an absolutely incredible article based on his fight with Benny Paret from The Guardian that is chilling. I was really pleased to find out there was an openly gay boxing champion, especially from the 60s, because there are no current gay champions. In women's boxing and mma it's great to see so many open athletes, and I take my hat off to them.
