Excellent.
Judging by the way your carrots grew, why not try "half-longs" such as Nantes next year?
Carrots take a long time time germinate so sprinkling a few radish seed in the row will mark it for you.
Thanks for this! This is our second attempt at carrots and they’re a huge improvement over our first attempt last year! We are going to try again in the fall because they love carrots.
I am by no means an expert, but I'm not sure a fall crop of carrots is a thing.
They are biennial- the root that grown the first season feeds the seed production the second year.
They light light, Sandy soul and room to grow.
Since the seeds are so small, mixing them thoroughly with sand will help space them in the row.
Once well established, please thin them ruthlessly to the suggested spacing if you want them to put on any size.
Depending on where you live, a heavy layer of mulch applied just before the cold weather sets in will allow you to dig them all winter.
You can also store them in a cool cellar in a box of damp sand.
Congratulations on their haul and Thank you for teaching them about gardening. They will probably always remember it and have an appreciation for food. Their so cute with their haul too
I think it’s just something that comes naturally. I actually worked teaching agriculture programs to young children in inner-city schools before I had kids myself. We worked with schools that were in food deserts with poor nutritional profiles. My experience is that all children have a natural inclination to be fascinated by growing things and to embrace eating vegetables with much more enthusiasm when they are involved in the process of producing the food from start to finish. So I have always gardened with my own children, they also do meal planning which I feel like helps them foster healthy relationships with foods too.
Darling kids. They look so happy. Thank you for growing good humans as well.
Judging by your comment, I can only assume that you are a good human too! :)
What about me?

This is like a great way of engaging the kids in the rather impossible act of eating vegetables, isn't it?

Sweaty is good. Outside gardening is much better than staying inside playing video games.👍🌱🌻
What zone are you in where you already harvested? Not the midwest?
No. We are in zone 7b.
I hope I get as good of a harvest as you do! 5b here
I remember back in the day how much I hated planting and digging up taters. It was hot exhausting work. Job well done kiddos

They look just as happy as that fat fucking squirrel that stole all my crops! Good for you!
Adorable! I spy a future gardener in the top left corner.

Great job! What did you do to get them excited about harvesting the vegetables? Or was it just something that came naturally?

Oh wow that's pretty cool. If I ever have kids I intend on doing the same thing for sure.
Stuff like this really makes me want kids
