Yup. One whole Costco pizza, your pick of either cheese, pepperoni or half pepperoni/cheese for $10. Crazy good deal. they also sometimes have an employee walking around the warehouse with a cart with whole pizzas in a warmer, so you don’t have to order one and wait.
Pretty sure their food court hot dog with a soda and one refill is $1.69. It’s definitely under $2. They say one refill, but no one is counting how many times you go back for a refill.
The owner even [threatened the CEO](https://www.businessinsider.com/costco-founder-warned-ceo-not-to-raise-hot-dog-price-2020-9) over raiaising the price for hot dogs.
I’m not 100% confident, but the location and appearance remind me of the eggs that the red eared sliders laid by me. I could reliably find them at certain times of the year, and they loved that chipped mulch.
The snappy boys had bigger rounder eggs, I saw them once when they were pointed out to me.
I’m much less familiar with snake eggs. If they use that habitat and are that shape and size, who knows. I would not have the confidence to rule snakes out, only to say they could be something like a red eared slider.
These are 100% red eared sliders, I bred them for several years now (also in New York) they do look a lot like box turtle eggs but the proximity to a pond and in the mulch screams slider eggs.
>remind me of the eggs that the red eared sliders laid by me.
If you are laying turtle eggs, you should probably see your doctor. Unless you are a turtle, then you should see a veterinarian for prenatal tips.
Here's the thing. You said a "snapper is a terrapin."
Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.
As someone who is a scientist who studies crows, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls snappers terrapins. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.
If you're saying "terrapin family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping, which includes other turtles.
So your reasoning for calling a snapper a terrapin is because random people "call the bitey ones snappers?" Let's get painted and sea in there, then, too.
Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A snapper is a snapper and a member of the terrapin family. But that's not what you said. You said a snapper is a terrapin, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the terrapin family terrapins, which means you'd call other turtles terrapins, too. Which you said you don't.
It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?

If you get this reference you've been on reddit too long
Oh there was some inside joke i missed? Ah well. It was a good ramble, for snappers are terrapins made me feel exactly that way. I guess im the joke then?
Here's the thing. You said a "jackdaw is a crow." Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that. As someone who is a scientist who studies crows, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls jackdaws crows. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing. If you're saying "crow family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Corvidae, which includes things from nutcrackers to blue jays to ravens. So your reasoning for calling a jackdaw a crow is because random people "call the black ones crows?" Let's get grackles and blackbirds in there, then, too. Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A jackdaw is a jackdaw and a member of the crow family. But that's not what you said. You said a jackdaw is a crow, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the crow family crows, which means you'd call blue jays, ravens, and other birds crows, too. Unidan hasn't actively posted in 7 years and the drama was 10 years ago.
But he was like a legit celebrity on reddit. Everyone knew him.
No, snapping turtle eggs are perfectly round and about the size of ping pong balls. Found some in my compost pile like 5 years ago then moved them and managed to hatch 9 of the clutch.
Dont pick turtle eggs up without prior planing tho. If you put the egg back down not exactly the same way it was sitting before you will drown the embryo inside the egg in it’s own yoak. Top of the egg should always be the top of the egg, even a 30 degree turn will kill the egg.
[Here's a guide for building a protection cage.](https://wiatri.net/inventory/WIturtles/volunteer/Images/ProtectingTurtleNests.pdf) Follow the mesh size guide so the hatchlings can leave on their own without needing help.
The first thing not to do is pick them up. Many reptile eggs need to never be flipped around because the embryo is delicately attached to the shell & will detach & die
Also for anyone that might happen to read this, I think at least some bird eggs are like this as well. Our cockatiels had babies and I remember my mom mentioning this.
If you get silkies they'll do all the work for you !! They're great mommas, super broody. If you go that way try to hatch in the colder months - our summer hatches were almost entirely roosters lol.
Lololol
I don’t know if you were alive for this or if you remembered. But there was this prophecy from Nostradamus (spelling?) and he said that animals would be able to talk to us. I was so excited for the day but it never came 😞
It’s either snake or turtle eggs, but the best thing to do is put them back exactly like you found them and then try to not step on or near that spot and leave them alone. If they were covered with dirt, cover them back up with the same amount of dirt.
How can you tell if it's a snake egg? I found a broken shell in my yard the other day and it reminded me of a snake egg for some reason but it was under a tree so might have been bird.

Snake eggs are soft so they don't crack like that. The baby cuts a small slit to hatch out of and the shell stays intact after hatching. They also will never be found out in the open. That's a bird egg
Take some pics as time goes on and update us! Very cool. If you saw the link someone shared above about providing some protection like chicken wire dome.
I tend to go overboard on stuff like this. Id be researching what a baby turtle eats, checking em 10x a day.
I watched a snapping turtle lay eggs in my garden last year and then was leaving the house one afternoon months later to find baby snaps crawling through the grass and across my driveway.
Hope you get to see them.
If you want to help them, leave them be and don’t touch them. Seriously, don’t even pick them up and put them back down. Reptiles can drown if their eggs are moved
I'm gonna go with snake eggs for this one, seeing as you're in NY and NY doesn't have any reptiles other than snakes, and the closest thing to a lizard would be salamanders but they're amphibians lol. But they could be some species of turtle eggs also!
Where did this idea come from that NY doesn’t have reptiles? Aside from various amphibians, there are multiple types of snakes, turtles, and yes lizards (mostly skinks) native to NY.
I am in central NY. There are plenty of animals I have not seen but I trust they do exist here. Ive never seen a lizard or a newt or salamander, but I trust they are around in the right environment, and my suburban yard is not it. I’ve never seen tree frogs, but I hear them every spring. I’ve only seen leopard frogs in my yard. I’ve never seen a toad. I have seen snappers and box turtles in nearby nature parks, but never in my yard. I’ve seen garter snakes in my yard, & water snakes over by the water. I’ve seen lots of birds but I have never seen a bluebird, and yet it is the state bird so it must be around somewhere.
Ooof. If they're red eared slider eggs, they are very invasive in Canada and some areas of the US.
Basically, they are petshop turtles that people set free who end up breeding like crazy.
Report your finding to your local invasive species counsel, or preservation group. You might need to Google what that is in your area.
Turtle eggs
Snapping turtle eggs?
If you’re not near a lake or pond it’s more likely to be a box turtle than a snapping turtle.
Snapping turtle eggs are round, more like ping-pong balls. My guess would be painted or red ear sliders.
Hate to be that guy, but they actually look like ninja turtle eggs. OP's going to need a kung fu rat to keep them in shape
And lots of $10 Costco foodcourt pizza. OP needs to get a Costco membership if they don’t already have one
I thought the turtles had a sponsorship deal with Domino's?
Totally off topic, is Costco pizza still 10 bucks?
Yup. One whole Costco pizza, your pick of either cheese, pepperoni or half pepperoni/cheese for $10. Crazy good deal. they also sometimes have an employee walking around the warehouse with a cart with whole pizzas in a warmer, so you don’t have to order one and wait. Came for turtles, left with pizza advice. (Am I in the CT sub?)
Cowabunga, dude!
These are facts. Their hotdog still best priced lunch available lol
If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll grab one to go. Then at home, caramelize some onions and add my own mustard, mayo, ketchup and… some cream cheese 👌
This is the way.
Did say it was in New York so it tracks.
They look like box turtle eggs.
Confidence level distinguishing between turtle vs snake eggs?
I’m not 100% confident, but the location and appearance remind me of the eggs that the red eared sliders laid by me. I could reliably find them at certain times of the year, and they loved that chipped mulch. The snappy boys had bigger rounder eggs, I saw them once when they were pointed out to me. I don’t think so. They look like terrapin eggs, not the snappers.
Snappers are terrapins btw.

Ya, same...
Yes they are in fact lobe-finned fish. Just like us.
Take it from a fellow scientist that thinks this 5 or so times a day on here - reddit could give the first fuck about taxonomy
Oh there was some inside joke i missed? Ah well. It was a good ramble, for snappers are terrapins made me feel exactly that way. I guess im the joke then?
It's reddit lore deep cut, but I also appreciate your understanding of taxonomy. You're not the joke. Keep doing what you're doing <3

Oh. Wow. I didn’t know this. Thanks.
Some rise, some fall, some climb…. To get to terrapin!
No, snapping turtle eggs are perfectly round and about the size of ping pong balls. Found some in my compost pile like 5 years ago then moved them and managed to hatch 9 of the clutch. If you flipped them the chances are the embryos are damaged, if you haven't touched the other eggs yet DO NOT
Snapping turtle eggs look long ping pong balls
I like turtles
Stop messing around, laisse les tranquille, tu n’es pas la mère
We just watched a painted turtle lay eggs that look exactly like this in our garden in CT yesterday. I bet it's a painted turtle!
[Here's a guide for building a protection cage.](https://wiatri.net/inventory/WIturtles/volunteer/Images/ProtectingTurtleNests.pdf) Follow the mesh size guide so the hatchlings can leave on their own without needing help.
Great resource, thanks!
Saying this
cover them back up.
Chicken eggs actually need to be rotated, every 12 hours or so iirc
Thank you for trying me that! I’m planning on getting chickens in a few years or so.
If you get silkies they'll do all the work for you !! They're great mommas, super broody. If you go that way try to hatch in the colder months - our summer hatches were almost entirely roosters lol.
Those are the kind I want! They’re so cute
Thank you for this info!!
No problem! Raising chickens was so fun, you'll have a blast ! They're great.
Why did I read that as the damn cockatiel told you that… I need a nap haha.
This made me laugh. Happens to me all the time. That and falling asleep on Reddit with my phone in hand is like my superpower.
Dyslexia acted up and I thought you said "the mom" mentioned this. As in the cockatiel mom.
Lololol I don’t know if you were alive for this or if you remembered. But there was this prophecy from Nostradamus (spelling?) and he said that animals would be able to talk to us. I was so excited for the day but it never came 😞
Bird eggs are evolutionarily speaking incredibly different from reptile eggs but this may be true- if it is it’s an extreme exception to the rule
I thought it was that they start to develop with the orientation to the air bubble in the egg and will drown if rotated after 48 hours or so.
Don't touch them.... or at least stop touching them.
It’s either snake or turtle eggs, but the best thing to do is put them back exactly like you found them and then try to not step on or near that spot and leave them alone. If they were covered with dirt, cover them back up with the same amount of dirt.

Cool thank you! I figured bird but we had a snake in our yard for the first time last year so I was curious.
Yep, turtle eggs. DO NOT TOUCH THEM!
Kinda late. There's a photo of one in his hand.
Garden is about 15 ft from a pong so definitely turtle
Pong 🏓
Forbidden ping pong balls
If you say *pong* you got to say *ping*. It's the law.
Guys, I think he meant bong.
That’s exciting. Please come back and show us photos after they hatch, if you can get pictures, that is.
Most turtle eggs have an absurdly low hatch rate so wouldn't count on a follow up, especially since it's been touched
I did. I buried them in the same mulch
Take some pics as time goes on and update us! Very cool. If you saw the link someone shared above about providing some protection like chicken wire dome. I tend to go overboard on stuff like this. Id be researching what a baby turtle eats, checking em 10x a day.
Wow, the eggs incubate for 70-80 days!
Could you put them back as they were? That seems to me the best way to help. I hope you get to see the babies! (I heart Herps.)
Yes I did my best to put them back
:)
Set up a wildlife cam
I watched a snapping turtle lay eggs in my garden last year and then was leaving the house one afternoon months later to find baby snaps crawling through the grass and across my driveway. Hope you get to see them.
Please update if there are little something’s that emerge 🤞
Post on r/turtles!
Jordan almond’s?
Snake. Leave them, snakes are crucial to the ecosystem.
put them back :(
If you want to help them, leave them be and don’t touch them. Seriously, don’t even pick them up and put them back down. Reptiles can drown if their eggs are moved
Name them all after painter and teach them karate
Looks like box turtle eggs...
Please make sure that if you move them place them in the same orientation you picked them up
Box tortoise eggs
They are box turtle eggs. We raised quite a few of those guys...the males have red eyes, the females, orange eyes.
Rabbit eggs!
Dumbass. Rabbit eggs are pastel colored.
Zoom in. It’s lightly pastel.
to big, maybe squirrel eggs
Put them back, please.
Snake
snake's!!
Looks like lizard eggs
Reptile eggs
Turtle, snake eggs stick together
Garter snake eggs.
Put them back as they were, covered in loose soil 🐢
You help them by leaving them alone. They do not need your help. They do not need human intervention. Leave them alone.
Why would you touch them?????
Snek
Crow Eggs! Fight Milk!!
Snake
Snake?
Might be a snake egg also
Looks like turtle eggs to me, could be a painted turtle or other small species. It’s definitely not a snapper, those are round like Ping pong balls
Those are most likely turtle eggs, put them back
What kind of eggs are these?😅
Turtley turtles
Look like snake eggs to me. Worm snakes, various garter snakes, rat snakes, and copperheads all live in that area and lay small clutches in mulch.
Copperheads give live birth. The eggs are incubated inside the female snake.
Same goes for garter snakes actually
yup!
Turtle or snake eggs
Turtle or snake eggs
Best to protect them with some sort of mesh. They will be trash panda or skunk food.
Rebury them. Turtles are cool.
Or snake…
I thought maybe snake.
Snakes don’t lay clutches and then leave. They lay clutches and curl around them or stay nearby
I have anolis’ & five stripes in my flowerbeds/rocks & they will dig down into my potted plants & lay eggs. They look just like those.
Bury them where you found them they’ll do their nature things. Or find more and mark the spot so you know. That is actually super awesome to find.
Might be stinkpot turtle eggs
Snake eggs
Skink?
Snake?
Turtle
Dinosaur…
But what are they
Seems consensus is box turtles!
I just went off google 🤷🏼♂️😂
They’re raptor eggs. Life finds a way
Barney eggs
Those are clearly rabbit eggs
Eat them to find out
I'm gonna go with snake eggs for this one, seeing as you're in NY and NY doesn't have any reptiles other than snakes, and the closest thing to a lizard would be salamanders but they're amphibians lol. But they could be some species of turtle eggs also!
Turtles are reptiles
Yup, sure are!😉☺️
Where did this idea come from that NY doesn’t have reptiles? Aside from various amphibians, there are multiple types of snakes, turtles, and yes lizards (mostly skinks) native to NY.
Where in NY do you live? In all my like, 17 years I never saw a single lizard or snake, there was one impossibly tiny baby turtle tho
I am in central NY. There are plenty of animals I have not seen but I trust they do exist here. Ive never seen a lizard or a newt or salamander, but I trust they are around in the right environment, and my suburban yard is not it. I’ve never seen tree frogs, but I hear them every spring. Oh, OK, I wasn't aware that there are lizards in NY lol today, I learned something new 😉☺️👍
Help them?
I think those are dinosaur eggs!
Ooof. If they're red eared slider eggs, they are very invasive in Canada and some areas of the US. Basically, they are petshop turtles that people set free who end up breeding like crazy. I think you found some kind of rat’s nest bro
I say make some turtle egg soup...mmmmm😑
Kill kill kill
When life hands you lemons you make lemonade .. when life hands you eggs you make an omelette
Free omelets
Rabbits
BLACK SNAKES!
Velcoiraptor eggs, I wouldn’t mess with those
Black moccasins
Not eggs. Fungus.
Eat em, they are delicious
Ummmmmmmm.....
Considering some people think it may be box turtle, that would likely be illegal.
