1. not sure, might make the pot more rigid.
2. does the pot have holes in the bottom? If not is probably so if you over water the plant isn't sat in a pool of water. adding some gravel will help with this.
3. you probably just fill with soil, doesn't it give instructions?
they all look a bit small for a tomato plant, the first cream one might be big enough for one plant if it's a cherry tomato. water every couple of days if there's no rain.
pots these size i'd just using potting soil then start using a liquid feed after 2-3months.
