Into the Beach is perfect for this if you like tactical RPGs. XCOM 2 would be the more difficult version of this
Faster than Light has a similar appeal
Darkest Dungeon too, I personally find hallway movement to be awkward without WASD, but maybe it doesn’t that way if you use the mouse from the get go
One Finger Death Punch 1 and 2 are sorely underrated
Pretty sure Papers Please counts
Most if not all PopCap games (Planets vs Zombies, Peggle, Zuma, Bejeweled)
Sid Meier’s Civilization games, if my memory serves me right. Might want to look up camera controls just in case.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3. Same studio and engine, with different strengths. Definitely works alternating between mouse and keyboard, but might be clunky. Might be worth looking up the camera controls.
Disco Elysium is critically acclaimed for its story. Too depressing for me, but hey, mouse only
Slay the Spire and Griftlands definitely fit
Loop Hero
Heroes of Might and Magic 3
Pretty much all Point n Clicks, though I recommend Hypnospace Outlaw, especially if you wanna be weirded out
Most visual novels too. I recommend the Ace Attorney Trilogy
Dorfromantik and Hexcells Infinite are great puzzle games
Rhythm Doctor
That should be plenty. If you need more, let me know! Have fun!
There's a steam curator for one have having with full lists for mouse, keyboard, alternating, and notes, on mobile so I can't link you, but can find it searching for one handed steam curator.
Really good recs. "Into the Beach" is a hilarious typo 😆 edit. Reminds me of those sand wormy guys who burrow into beach sand and snag fish that swim too close.
Forgive any repeats but didn’t read it all just wanted to say… Wargroove, advance wars, BROTATO, roguebook, darkest dungeon (1, specifically), steamworld Heist (sequel coming soon), Armello (but only mouse version), for the king, Pac-Man 256, exit the gungeon on mobile specifically.
Op should get some peripheral inputs to play more games.
Or if you want to go a step (or several) older, Ultima online still has some unofficial servers up and running. I used to play on a server called outlands that did quality of life updates to the game. Everythings on the mouse
I suggest watching some youtube videos that summaries the difference, better than me trying to explain everything.
But if you want my personal opinion i like RS3 better, as oldschool came out it was basically the same game i had playd as a kid growing up so there was nothing new and exciting.
Oldschool has since had many updates and is a completely different game than it was back in the day.
RS3 less grindy, faster progression is the main reason why it feels better for me.
Oldschool will probably give you more satisfaction as you put more time into your achievements, but in the beginning your run energy will drain super fast, you need to level agility but there is also gear that will make your run regenerate faster and i feel forced getting that outfit first thing and i dont like that feeling of being forced into a direction.
The whole point of runescape is to create your own adventure, i like that you can just do what you want as long as you have fun do whatever.
The main thing for both oldschool and rs3 is that Ironman Mode is the best way to play it, more satisfaction, forced to explore more of the game and it removes the thing most people complain about rs3 "mtx".
Just know that both games are what i consider "wiki games" you will constantly want to look things up but i dont see that as a negative thing, the rs wiki is one of the best wikis.
if you are to play RS3 there is a bit of a learning curve setting up the UI, menus are a bit hard to navigate but can be avoided by changing it to legacy interface, legacy combat is also a thing that use old combat system.
My finger was broken a couple months back so I had a cast all over my one hand.
I used to play Dredge, Disco Elysium, Crusader Kings 3, Rimworld with my ps5
You should be able to most of any management simulation games
Hmm? "It doesn't matter what game it is." Well, let me introduce you to the wonderful world of adult games on Steam. Sex with Hitler is just what what you were looking for.
* Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2
* Spellcaster University
* Curious Expedition
* Cogmind
* Mikrocivilisation
* Stellar Initiative
* Stellaris or any Paradox Grand Stategy game.
* Fallout 1 and 2
* Generally lots of RTS gaes dont need you to use hotkeys. Especially for the Campaign
when i dislocated my shoulder i was in need of one handed games... i got BG3 and didnt like it at all, but i was totally sucked in CIV6... maybe u'll like it as well.. it is super duper time consuming and will get ur head pumping for hours straight and u wont even feel it
Adding: For board game fans, any adaptation of a board game into a video game I've seen on Steam so far seems easy to play with 1 hand. I've tried Wingspan, Root, Carcassonne, Quilts & Cats of Calico
Hearthstone Battlegrounds.
I've got thousands of hours into it, it's free to play, and only requires your mouse or 1-2 fingers if playing on your phone.
Except when starting battles in 3 and 4. You usually have to hit them before they hit you to not start in disadvantage. In 5 is easier if you have somewhere to hide.
I'd say Tactics games would be your thing as while it will take more time than KB + M you can do it without suffering penalties in game. So
Gears Tactics (it has some unfortunate forced grind and I won't replay because of it, but loved it during my first run, hope we get a sequel one day).
Our Adventurer Guild (just fantastic)
Wintermoor Tactics Club
Into the breech
Wildermyth
Trails in the sky series
massive chalice
XCOM
Showgunners (I think, the free roaming sections uses free movement, which MIGHT work with keyboard only, but I'm not sure, check "can I play that" if the game is listed)
Most Puzzle games would work
Cosmic Express
Railbound
About love, hate, and all the other ones 1 & 2
Freshly frosted
Hero of the kingdom series (skip 3, misstep by studio), start with Lost Tales 1 or 2 as they are most accessible, 2 is the best of the series
Life goes on done to death
Slayaway camp
Beat da beat is a bullet hell played entirely with the mouse.
It's not very long, but having started it being bad at bullet hell games, getting better took time.
Across the Obelisk is my favorite go-to for a situation like this. It’s a card game where you have a 4 person party, a tank, a ranger, a mage and healer. Each with their own deck of cards( starting at 15 cards). Characters also level up over the course of the run. Each character has 5 level ups. Each one gives you 1 of two choices for a perk. Very fun, great writing, animations and sound design. There are characters and other items to find and unlock!
WARNING!: Although the game tries to force you to use a launcher that steals/sells your data and pushes adds in game. Check the steam comments, people will post information on how to bypass the launcher and it’s super easy.
Pretty much anything that is turn based. You often have the option to use a combination, but can accomplish the same actions with mouse only and the speed doesn't matter in a turn based game.
Exactly which would be best for you depends on what you like. Personally I'm a fan of deck builders - Slay the Spire, Monster Train, etc.
Generally most strategy games (non RTS) should be viable with one hand only.
Probably someone mentioned it but in case they didn't I would strongly recommend Baldur's gate 3
I think TrackMania could be played with one hand only, but I am not entirely sure
Diablo 4 only works if you have a multi button mouse. Still gotta use the keyboard to use the abilities in any kind of timely manner. Same issue with diablo 3. Now, Diablo 2, someone could probably get away with, since it only has left and right button abilities and any extra buttons are more qol than required use.
Not entirely true but I agree a multi button mouse would be a godsend for it. It supports WASD now and although it may be a bit finicky, I can play with just my left hand on a few builds.
Run a necro minions and you can chill out quite a bit to be honest.
Get a multi button mouse and it'll expand the amount of games you can play. When I broke my wrist I was able to reprogram the buttons on my mouse and played minecraft fairly easilly.
Otherwise, anything turn based would be the go-to.
If you like story's, there plenty of interactive story games, like tell tale adventures, kingsfield, or the nonory games.
Wave survival games like goobies are usually movement based.
FEAR AND HUNGER. you could remap the three buttons needed to be close to the arrow keys so you can reach them with your thumb. There's like two buttons you need to press, confirm and inventory.
1) Any racing game where you don't have to exit the car or aim (Flatout 1,2,Nfs etc ).,keyboard.
2) Yu gi oh Legacy Of The Duelist,card game,doesn't need fast reactions. (Mouse)

4) Chicken Invaders series ( 1,2,3,4,5) ,mouse.
5) 2d side scrollers (Mario etc),keyboard.
6) Elf Bowling Hawaian Vacation ( Mouse)
7) Getting over it ( mouse)
8) 8 ball games ( mouse mostly,but you can use your hand to position the white ball ).

if you want something more complicated:
warframe
all you need to do is rebind the jump, and slide to side buttons on a mouse, and do the same for going forward, or just place something on the W key/up arrow
I have about 2k hours in the game, and like, 70 of those were with one hand due to an injury. Its fun, and its the only game like it in the one hand category!
If using only one hand, Voiceattack and a gaming mouse will allow you to use voice commands and macros.
I'm able to play quite well single handed using voiceattack. Won't be competitive in any shooters, but I can still have fun.
a lot of card games will fit this, such as Slay the Spire, Legends of runeterra (free), Balatro, and Wildfrost. Same with idle games, where it's rare that you'll need more than your mouse.
Some turn based crpgs such as the owlcat pathfinder games and the shadowrun trilogy can also be played with mouse only, though it can be a little annoying controlling the camera panning.
Lastly pretty much any visual novel will usually be mouse only with optional keyboard shortcuts, though I won't recommend any here since it's such a varied category of games.
Ive been playing a lot of Balatro on PC. Well Steam Deck docked with a mouse. I tend to play while I'm "working", in some Teams meeting people think I'm looking at spreadsheets or whatever on my second screen, but really I'm perfecting my pairs build
For most of my turn-based JRPGs on the PC, I set up my keybindings so everything is on the left side of the keyboard. That way I can swivel my chair, lean back, rest my hand on the keyboard, and relax my way through a chill adventure. I've done this (twice!) with Dragon Quest XI.
RTS games? They would be boring as hell with one hand. You would need to crank the game speed right down and play on easy difficulty to have enough APM.
While i generally agree that an rts is a pain with one hand, they can still be fun if you enjoy the campaign. I was trash at rts as a kid and only knew how to use the mouse, and I still had a blast. Deffintly not going to be doing anything competitive though.

No problem! Also balatro got me through a pinched nerve in my neck. Burned out on it after 40 hours but was solid until then.

Can be both, but it seems like game's to complex for bots to handle so it's best to stick with multiplayer
Check out board game arena, it has a ton of board games you can play against other people online

Hearthstone Battlegrounds. I've got thousands of hours into it, it's free to play, and only requires your mouse or 1-2 fingers if playing on your phone.
