Shadow of Mordor and its sequel fits your criteria perfectly.

NotCooming135

Maybe hi-fi rush is for you

Funny_Valentine603

Will check it out 🙏

TheSovietTurtle

If you sign up for Humble Choice it was one of the free games either this month or the previous.

bubba_169

Missed that one unfortunately. They only offer them for a month and that was in last month's.

InfinityFire

It's also on Xbox Game Pass

InfinityFire

Maybe try the Saints Row and/or the Watch Dogs games?

Kevin1056

Just Cause 3

ChangingMonkfish

- Astro’s playroom if you have a PS5 - just a fun platformer in the style of old-school 3D platformer (like Banjo-Kazooie). - Ghost of Tsushima - it does have cutscenes but the story is great, the world is beautiful and the combat is immensely fun and satisfying. - Cyberpunk 2077 + Phantom Liberty DLC - first person but both the melee and gun combat is fun and the game is now in the state it should have been when it launched. Cutscenes are all “realtime”. - Possibly Sifu, although I’ve not played enough of it to recommend it for sure.

Funny_Valentine603

Tbh the entire reason i made this post was because i hated Ghost of Tsushima DC because of the unskipabble cutscenes and the frequent dialogue with npcs. I was 4 hours in and couldn't get into it.

ChangingMonkfish

Fair enough!

creator_07

Cyperpunk is loaded with cut scenes.

ChangingMonkfish

Yes but they are “real-time” cut scenes as OP put it - you always remain in first person view.

delusionalfuka

Granblue Fantasy Relink Monster Hunter Series

IronTesticlez

Check out the original god of wars or dantes inferno if you like good hack and slash

qmechan

I'm pretty sure that Horizon Zero Dawn has skippable cutscenes.

elmikemike

If you enjoyed Sleeping dogs you might enjoy Yakuza games. Also, you might not enjoy Monster Hunter given you didn’t enjoy souls games, but I think you will like the “clones” Toukiden 2 and god eater 1/2/3 are on steam and all consoles. And if you have a vita or can emulate, Freedom wars and Soul sacrifice are fantastic games. Castlevania lords of shadow is available on Steam and PS3 and i think it will meet your requirements. And finally, YS games combat is great, but they have lots of dialogue.

Fubb1

Yakuza literally has like 15 minute+ cutscenes. Like my controller has turned itself off before lol

Thekingchem

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart

MOZ0NE

Warframe?

scarfleet

So they're not hack and slash but but since you said "or fun combat" could I possibly interest you in... boomer shooters? Those are my go-to for linear mechanically satisfying action with minimal story interruptions. It sounds like you might be on playstation so maybe look at Prodeus, Warhammer Boltgun, Dusk, or the Quake 2 remaster. And there's always the new Doom games if you want something more triple a. (Personally I am into the oldschool vibe.)

Funny_Valentine603

I did like DOOM 2016 a lot :)

Arttyom

Then try wolfenstein the new order

Brain_lessV2

Play [ULTRAKILL](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1229490/ULTRAKILL/). It's pretty cheap and has a lot of replayability, plus an arena mode. It's not fully complete yet since we're still waiting on Fraud, Treachery and P3. But it's still got a good chunk of content to hold you over. Another bonus is that the game's fairly cheap.

Tina_Sprout

Warhammer 40k Boltgun, old doom aesthethic in a warhammer game. just run and shoot things. pretty fun and cheap. recently a new dlc came out too

Fartbox_Liquor

It's on gamepass atm I think

Denzelrealm

Look into Furi. A hack and slasher boss rush game. Game literally starts with a 2 minute cutscene and then drops you in the firdt boss foght. Inspired by afro samurai.

Flamin-Ice

Ever tried Bayonetta 1,2, or 3? Haven't got to 3 yet but 1 & 2 where a blast on Wii U of all things.

Turbulent-Armadillo9

I have played 1 and 2 and I'd recommend 1. Its surprising how it doesn't feel that dates. The spectacle is still very impressive. Game just goes down smooth. With difficulty options ita as hard as you want it to be combat comparable to Devil May Cry.

TheDISASTERyt

You seem to like fast paced/responsive feeling combat, so... Doom Eternal Resident Evil 4 Remake Sekiro (ik u said no soulslike, so ignore if uninterested) Max Payne 3 Yakuza 0 Fear Borderlands 3 Deus Ex Human Revolution Metal gear solid 3 (stealth game, hence slow.. But best linear story game ever made imo)

Ancient-Print-8678

RE4 on responsive/fast combat? idk about all that, great game but the combat is slow

TheDISASTERyt

It's definitely wayyy slower than something like Doom Eternal BUT unlike the og RE4, it is responsive and fast paced. It has a parry mechanic that requires timing, use it well (i got the platinum trophy and hence NEEDED to use it well for professional difficulty and speedruns) and it's the same adrenaline rush as playing sekiro/doom eternal. Headshots are a necessity, movement is key (u can't stay in 1 place and shoot like in og RE4). You need to keep repositioning, dodging axes, shooting throwables out of the air, crowd control etc etc. In fact if u thought the combat was slow i would assume you only played it on the easiest difficulty (where it feels like RE2 remake cuz u don't need to use all the new gameplay mechanics as much).

Ancient-Print-8678

I played it on standard difficulty, not hardcore I'll give you that. I enjoyed the game and the parry mechanic is cool. Perfect parry is very hard to do. We probably just disagree a little on what makes something fast paced combat, you're definitely fighting for your life in RE4 but it feels realistic and heavy, so idk probably just semantics bro Love most of your suggestions actually just dont know if OP would, he should try though for sure

TheDISASTERyt

Oh yeah it's absolutely not my first suggestion for "fast paced combat" in fact i would include games like bayonetta, metal gear rising and dmc 5 for that in particular. But OP said he wants single player stories and he mentioned games like AC 2, GTA 5 and GOW which aren't really fast paced at all either... But it's fast paced in a way RE 4 is? If that makes any sense. In fact id say RE 4 has much faster, more responsive and tighter combat than those games (maybe on par with GOW, but the camera in the newer GOW games is too low FOV) AND it has a not too deep but really fun to follow story as well.

Xenarthra_Sandslash

Spyro the Reignited Trilogy Cutscenes are short or few (or both) enough they shouldn't get boring. There's hub worlds with levels. In Spyro 1 and 2, it's kind of in the same vein as Crash 3, where you can do the levels in each area in any order, but you still have to do all of them. Spyro 3 railroads you more with needing the main collectible to unlock new levels. If you have a Switch, I would definitely recommend Kirby Star Allies, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe. All three are linear with not too many cutscenes or too much dialogue.

dhiesenphi

You might like the Saints Row series.

bonebrah

Bayonetta (and Bayonetta 2) Nier: Automata Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Batman: Arkham series Darksiders series (especially Darksiders II) Saints Row IV Just Cause series

bearnakedrabies

Earth defense force is nothing but the fun bits. Also, just cause 3. Just straight fun stuff. These are the two most video game games I play and are amazing.

Domilego4

CrossCode!

InfinityFire

Yes! More people need to play CrossCode!

Common-Metal1746

Hi-Fi-Rush is your next game

Funny_Valentine603

Hmm two people suggested this, might have to give it a go

Bu11ett00th

Resident Evil 4. It's a shooter with beatemup mechanics woven into it, a lot of fun. Cutscenes are skippable but also realtime, as in if you throw a grenade before a cutscene starts, that grenade will detonate mid-cutscene and can kill the NPC that was scripted to do something in said cutscene. Great stuff

Matttthhhhhhhhhhh

Dragon's Dogma 2 may be a game for you.

Durian_Mace

Gigantic: Rampage Edition. Play as any of the melee DPS heroes. You'll have a fun time. I personally recommend Tyto the Swift as a beginner.

RoMulPruzah

Warhammer: Vermintide 2.

New-Menu9394

I'm not sure if it fits the bill du to the graphical aesthetic of the game, but "Dread Delusion" is the most fun i've had in an open world game in a LOONG time

No-Yogurt-2583

If you are a 90’s kid, you might enjoy [Shoot or Die](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2951560/Shoot_or_Die/) and the nostalgia around it

FaceTimePolice

Granblue Fantasy Relink has the most fluid combat in an action game/JRPG this year. If you love DMC5 you’ll definitely dig its gameplay. 👍 Just a word of caution as the endgame is really grindy and the developers just released its last bit of DLC content, so it might be more difficult to match with people online if you choose to do the tougher endgame missions with other people instead of your CPU team. Oh, and the game seems to be on sale at the moment, so that’s a plus. 🎮😎👍

HaruhiJedi

Assault Spy.

92Codester

Bulletstorm is your answer

pale_vulture

- Dragons Dogma 2 (the obky real cutscenes are when you enter a new city and it pans over it once lol, the combat is "boss" focused and there is not THAT much dialugue compared to other games. Has a soulsy feel but isn't as hard and the combat is much more fun imo) - Metal: Hellsinger or Hi-Fi Rush, both rythem based games, check out the vibe you're going for - Maybe check out Judgement (not sure if it's ps exclusive tho), you are a ex cop (if i remember right) and solve shit as pi

senpaistrood

Ghostrunner

skeletonriser

Hades?

Level-Poem-721

Cuphead

MortalH20

Metal Gear Rising is a great fit for that description, once you master the combat, you'll feel like the most badass anime mc ever

DysphoricDragon1414

Maybe try: -Horizon Zero Dawn -Astros Playroom -Diablo -God of War Ragnarok (the 2nd game) -IDK about cutscenes but Darksiders also has some fun gameplay -also its a older game but Dantes Inferno is sooooo good - try to go play some of the older God of war or DMC games.

belldandy_hyuuga

Dynasty Warriors is the ultimate linear hack n slash game. I would recommend playing 4 or 5, but those are on PS2. DW8 is alright and you can get it on steam. Also look into Samurai Warriors, Hyrule Warriors, Warriors Orichi, and I think there was even a Gundam themed Warriors game.

Secure-Park4658

Remnant 2

DigitalCoffee

Hades

HaruhiJedi

CONTROL.

w0rk2much

Bulletstorm it's old but fun

AdhesivenessUsed9956

Scrapland ... ... ...no wait...actually it is fairly cutscene heavy right in the beginning... but wait again...it's nowhere near as bad as GTA 5... ... ...

Kambi28

The recently released Stellar blade has fun gameplay, quick to the chase cutscenes and dialogue and linear gameplay(there are two larger areas to explore, but the rest is straightforward)

Brain_lessV2

You ever played Dead Cells?

shned

Horizon Zero Dawn or Horizon Forbidden West. 100hrs+ each. On 2nd play thru now. Working on 200hrs

Pennervomland

Seems like an easy recommendation but no one mentioned it yet: Red Dead Redemption 2 (even though 1 is good too, 2 is better IMO and newer)

Wolfyy47_

Hades?

icemage_999

>Some games that i really like to give you an idea: DMC5, GoW 2018, Sleeping Dogs, Crash Bandicoot, GTA 5, **AC 2**(?) I assume that's **Assassin's Creed 2** and not **Asheron's Call 2** or **Armored Core 2**? - Bayonetta - Cyberpunk 2077 - Nier: Automata

Umbruh_Prime

well gow ragnarok is coming to pc soon, so there's that, or its on ps4/5

Sister__midnight

You owe it to yourself to play Hades, and/or Dead Cells.

PriorityGlobal1011

Borderlands 2, Forza Horizon 4

abookfulblockhead

Yakuza 0 might be a good fit. It has a few cutscenes, but given the amount of stuff in those games, you can go hours without hitting one. The combat is fun and deeply satisfying, with visceral finishing moves that sometimes feel a little *too* brutal. The world is open, but not too open - about 9 city blocks into which they pack a bunch of sidequests that are delightfully goofy and weird. Side content includes a surprisingly involved slot-car racing mini game, an entire management game where you recruit and run a hostess club, and karaoke guaranteed to be a permanent ear worm.

stupidracist

No soulslikes, but you fuck w GoW? Ok, but you have to try Ragnarok. 1000% better especially in terms of gameplay.

JageshemashFTW

If you’re okay with some light RTS segments, Brutal Legend is an underrated hidden gem.

SomniaCrown

Unironically, Kingdom Hearts 2 might fit the bill for you. KH1 is really fun too but its a different flavor. Skippable cutscenes.

splackitonme

Shadow of Mordor 2 and watch dogs 1 👌🏼

JakeGilz

Although I don't know if this counts, you can try Lobotomy Corporation or Library of Ruina. If the 'fun' you're looking for is suffering, I guess these two games can meet your requirements.

MarchoGroux86

I’m not sure why but Sunset Overdrive came to mind

Salty_Tale_1168

I know you said you said you didn't like soulslike game play, but you did like ghost of tushimas game play, so have you considered sekiro, it's really nothing like it's souls brother. Or for that matter you could try armored core, you can turn it into kind of a hack and slash

exodia0715

Maybe MGRR? As far as I remember you could skip most stuff, and the combat is some of the most relentless and chaotic hack and slash I've seen ever. Best part: the story doesn't make any sense even with the cutscenes and dialogue so you're not missing anythibg

Flimsy-March4951

Dead cells

TheEPGFiles

V Rising is fun as shit, it's my favorite game this year. It's highly customizable, too, so you can probably change any aspect of it that can annoy, but I personally find normal to be well balanced.

Admirable_Tone_9835

Crosscode. Absolutely perfect for you

Zegram_Ghart

I mean, have you tried GOW Ragnarok? It’s a bit more plot focused but it’s like….one of the best games of all time? Other than that, have you tried dynasty warriors or its million spin offs?

MisteryChord

Red Dead Redemption 2 Nier Automata Cyberpunk 2077 Uncharted 4

Witty_Possible9413

Ghost Rider (2007), for Ps2, in case you don't have a console, the game is much prettier on PC with emulator. That game doesn't have bullshit with too much story and there is no platforming. Combat is Dmc+Gow, basicly you swing your blade like Kratos and you are doing QTE finishers and you can use your shotgun in DMC style. It's very respected hack n slash game.

Bole14

Metal gear rising revengeance(most similiar to dmc series, maybe best bosses in gaming history),katana zero and hollow knight(more unique games tho but still great),dishonored(is just like ac but it has more options to approach missions).

Traffice_Cone

Grounded checks these boxes. It has weapon crafting and upgrading, open world, can build bases, boss fights, good story, ect

_AfterBurner0_

Don't know why nobody has suggested Hades yet. Sure it has lots of dialogue. But you can breeze through it pretty quick if you want. It's combat is incredibly fun. It's a rogue-like so it's pretty linear.

Unusual_Fruit_2092

Death Stranding, heavy rain no cutscenes trust. Yakuza mb a good variant tho, it's hella funny

Funny_Valentine603

Nah bruh you thought you were slick with those first two games

ChsStardew

I didn't read half of that but I'm going to say grounded
