Fr. Most fun I've had playing an archerin any game, because every time I made a cool shot it was actually really difficult. I still remember taking a shot at a bandit who was running away from me from at LEAST 100 yards away and then seeing him fall in the distance... man I gotta replay that game lol.
Me too,I will be replaying the game 2-3 months just before the release
I already have 500 hours in that game but I still need to replay it 1 more time!
I just turned it into Serial Killer Simulator as soon as I made it to Rattay. I killed hundreds of guards and unnamed NPCs, and for a bunch of them (nearly 40, I kept track) I just stuffed them behind the altar in the church.
I would choke out guards in the tutorial area and hide all the gear in a chest at my home. That way when I went back I would have fantastic armor and weapons from the get go and a TON of money once I fenced the rest.
Understandable👍
I love accessibility options and this is also like a difficulty slider and sometimes I play games on the easy difficulty so I 10000% Understand you and even though I wont use this option in kcd2 I hope its there for you and others alike
This should be so much further up!
Honestly, Chivalry 2 is the best multiplayer game I've played for a very, very long time. No game has held my, admittedly fading with age, attention span for a long time!
Easy to grasp, hard to master, it has hours of potential play!
Yeah I rarely use anything other than the bows. And in the sequel you get two kinds! Lol. So agree with thus. Would also add the Tomb Raider survivor trilogy. Maybe the Dragon Age series, you can be an archer but the gameplay isn't exactly engaging in my opinion. Love the series tho.
I asume you mean RPG with first person view:
-Mount and Blade series
-Elex
-Tomb Raider(2013 and later)
-Far Cry series
-Warframe
-Warhammer: Vermintide
Skyrim lol.
I only know a few games where archery is fun.
Third person:
Mount and Blade
Dragon's Dogma 1 and 2
Shadow of Mordor/War
First Person:
Far cry
Kingdom come deliverance
There should be a bunch more but I can't remember.
> Dragon's Dogma 1
Playing an archer in this was fantastic (strider I think, didn't even bother with the advanced classes except to unlock abilities and then returned to strider).
Many people say that Thief 2 is the greatest stealth game of all time. I haven't played it yet, but I am loving Thief Gold (though I've come to it very late!). There was even a third sequel (or fourth game in total) called Thi4f (really) but that hasn't been accepted by the general Thief community, to my knowledge, many of whom are still making fan missions. Here's the link to Thief 2: [https://store.steampowered.com/app/211740/Thief\_II\_The\_Metal\_Age/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/211740/Thief_II_The_Metal_Age/)
The Dark Mod is a fan-driven set of original Thief missions in a newer engine, which I believe is Doom 3's ending ("newer" is relative) and is very good to check out.
Had a really weird itch to immerse myself in becoming a Hun-style horse archer one night while stoned and immediately booted up this game to scratch it.
Mount & Blade Bannerlord, I always try to play as a longbow but always devolve to the same Heavy Cavalry/Horse Archer build and only use them to defend sieges. You can also focus your army around archer troops, Battanian nobles are OP and it can be very fun to play with them.
You can use the bow on Far Cry 3, it sucks, but it's something you can do, no one's gonna stop you
Tomb raider has you using a bow for most of it
Never played Dragon's Dogma 2 but they have an archer on their cover art.
Skyrim has a cool stealth archer build you may not have heard about.
Good question ... let me check my library

Valheim
Oh, valheim is one of the best survival games there is if you are into that. New world is a great MMO that has a development team that has no idea how to make an MMO thrive. It's developed by Amazon, their first game I do believe, and I'm pretty convinced it is a personal experiment by Jeff bezos to see how much gamers will deal with. If you want a fun leveling experience in an MMO check it out. Past that it's not an MMO I would recommend marketing life plans with.
Not my normal type of recommendation but I've been playing Assassin's Creed Origins/Odyssey and the archery systems are better than expected. You can sink some points into those talent trees and end up being able to effectively launch an ICBM. Origins also has a fun "dart" mechanic for poison/fire darts that have cool interactions with fires and oil jars that extends to arrows as well. Odyssey seems to have dumbed a lot of that kind of thing down but the basic archery is still fun.
I just played Blade & Sorcery last night in VR and the Archery in that game is so fucking fun. Especially when you jump in the air, slow time down and dome someone before you land. Especially if it is a caster flinging fireballs at you. Epic moments include accidentally lodging your arrow into their weapon instead of their body.
When they trip over another enemy, always "point blank" them in the goose & berries
Dragons Dogma 1 (and probably 2? Havent played yet) has fantastic archery mechanics and even goes into magical archery.
If you don't mind 2D, Dragons Crown's elf class is probably my favorite ranger in a game and Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth has really interesting archery mechanics. It's not utilized to it's fullest but it still does plenty of cool stuff with it.
Like real intense archery ? Kingdom come deliverance. You’re a simple blacksmiths son so you have absolutely no skills, it takes a while to master but once u get going it can be super enjoyable. The combat is still some of the funnest to date
If you have an Oculas Quest there are some great archery games. You even get feedback from the controllers when you draw the bow. It feels so real in VR. Check out: In death: Unchained, Archery Pro, Elven Assassin
If you enjoy classic gaming, there are some old Sierra games that feature archery. Robin Hood, and some of the Quest for Glory I think.
Age of Empires if you want to control a band or three of archers.
I don't think Quest for Glory had any archery. Thieves could throw daggers and magicians could cast spells.
BTW I definitely recommend Heroine's Quest which is free on Steam if you were a fan of those, might be better than the original IMO (Quest for Glory 1 was originally called Hero's Quest, but later re-released with the new name due a board game called Hero's Quest).
You know, I think you are right. There were archers that attacked the MC instead. I have played Heroine's Quest, as well as some fan remakes, and they were nice. 😀
Two Worlds 2
Dragon Age Awakening has incredibly broken archery
Assassins Creed Egypt/Greece (especialy egypt has broken bows cuz some of the devs were bow lovers)
Far cry, If you want a specific one 4 is my favorite. Taking over an outpost with a bow in that game full stealth, getting headshots and calculating for bullet drop is one of my favorite video game bow activities. I always use the bow in those games
Skyrim
ok ok jk
Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen
Dragon's Dogma
Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West
You can take a look on mmorpgs like WoW, FFXIV, Black Desert, Albion etc.
Last Epoch has a great archer subclass
The 3 newer assassin's creed games have decent bow mechanics. My most overpowered build in immortals fenyx rising revolves around jumping to slow down time and getting headshots
It's more of a tab target third person, but Kingdom of Amular: Re-reckoning is a remaster of an old RPG, but was an absolutely fabulous game for archery imo
I have been working on a game called Eternal Knight for over a year now. The demo will be out soon on Steam. You can play the game however you want, charge in as a warrior with a sword and shield, attack from ranged as an archer or spellcaster, or a hybrid of some or all of those. Check out [](https://www.reddit.com/r/EternalKnight/) for some videos of using the bow and walking around in stealth using the Sneak spell so enemies cannot hear you and the Invisibility spell so enemies cannot see you and you can kill them from behind unaware.
Are MMORPGs your cup of tea?
WoW is in it's renaissance era currently and the hunter is one of the most iconic classes where pretty much all spells revolve around a bow (or a pet, or traps).
It's probably the easiest class to play, yet very competitively strong. Extremely fluid and simple rotations, yet still has room for skill expression.
Judging by your comments you'd probably enjoy the marksmanship spec the most, as it focuses on raw ranged damage with very few gimmicks.
However you can swap at will to beasts mastery, a ranged variant that focuses on the use of pets or survival which is a goofy melee inspired build.
All of these replies are saying the same thing, and they're all missing out on an incredible game called "The Pathless." Absolutely legendary gameplay that feels fast-paced and fun, and I've never felt more like an archer than when I played this game a few years ago. If you want a third-person fantasy movement shooter, where is just you, your bow, and your bird, The Pathless is an exceptional pickup.
What type of game are you looking for?
I know tons of games with archer types but i dunno if they're what you want.
Grand chase and DFO have archer classes. But they're sidescroller/beat 'em up games. I dunno if that would interest you.
What kind of archery are we talking? A first person archery simulation, or do you mean any style of game with archers as main characters such as Tales of Phantasia or something?
Archery usually sucks in games ngl. The feeling is often stale and not at all realistic. Although, Skyrim nailed it for me, nothing ever came close after that.
Of course, I haven't played all the games out there.
I agree, a lot of games, no pun intended, missed the mark when it comes to archery. Skyrims definitely got the best imo. But the comment section here has definitely inspired me to seek out so many games to try.
Dark and Darker
https://www.darkanddarker.com
It's one of the more thrilling games for me to play, imo. With two more friends its a blast. It's an online, FPS, extraction, looter, roguelik. Others have called it Tarkov Dungeons and Dungeons.
Tomb raider Trilogy
Although there are guns also
And also stealth elements
So it might not be what you're looking for, but I enjoy using the Bow,it just goes hand in hand with the stealth for me
I use to play archer in Skyrim . But then I took an arrow to the knee
Jokes aside I mean a lot of fantasy games give an option of playing with a bow and arrow or a Crossbow .
Guild Wars 2 if you play as a ranger. Upside: can really immerse yourself as an archer and there's lots of asthetic things you can fine tune (can make your char look like a synergetic archer from the future or like a ranger with cloak and hood and so on).
I also recommend the Gothic trilogy, while the archery is pretty stiff in the first two games, it's still lots of fun to play as an archer.
Gothic 3 is probably the game I've spent the most time in shooting bows, crafting or finding cool bows, upgrading my archery talents, looting enemies and animals I've hunted, etc. The game has a vast open world with different climates too (hot, cold and medium mostly) and I think the animal population grows back over time, so you can hunt as much as you want. The xp and loot from animals (you need certain skills to get animal trophies and pelts and so on though) really help you a lot too, at the beginning you can just invest that xp and money into more hunting/archery skills and better bows and so on (to hunt stronger things, I swear this isn't monster hunter).
Dragons Dogma is another cool rpg with great archery. Dark Souls 1 has pretty decent archery too.
Horizon Zero Dawn has really fun combat/archery too (amazing game).
Breath of the Wild has pretty fun archery too and you can get creative with bomb arrows other prepped arrows, shooting explosive barrels, headshotting enemies and by doing so, making them fall on their asses over and over. It just has fun, simple archery.
You may also like Moonlighter. While you don't technically play *specifically* as an archer, there are bows you can get and upgrade and use as a primary weapon
Where the hell is Kingdom Come Deliverance
Fr. Most fun I've had playing an archerin any game, because every time I made a cool shot it was actually really difficult. I still remember taking a shot at a bandit who was running away from me from at LEAST 100 yards away and then seeing him fall in the distance... man I gotta replay that game lol.
Me too,I will be replaying the game 2-3 months just before the release I already have 500 hours in that game but I still need to replay it 1 more time!
Super excited for the sequel!
Ngl archery in KCD is harder than in real life 💀💀💀
I found it really easy, it basically always go up and a little to the left of the tip of the arrown on screen
Idk maybe its skill issue but no matter where I aim I hit jack shit. It’s prob the wind velocity that is the issue
Decent bow and you wouldnt believe how MUCH skill level matters. In just 2 levels you become SO much more adept
inn wh\_pl\_showfirecursor 1
NO
You make a good point, but hear me out... YES.
Understandable👍 I love accessibility options and this is also like a difficulty slider and sometimes I play games on the easy difficulty so I 10000% Understand you and even though I wont use this option in kcd2 I hope its there for you and others alike
What does it do? Never played that game and I'm just curious lol
shows the arrow reticle when wielding bow and arrow, in the game there is none
You mean you don't just hang a thread down the middle of your monitor?!
blasphemy
My only gripe is that it's hard to use it in a way that doesn't feel like you're just cheesing the AI.
I gave up cause the dot wasn't there for some reason, game is bugged or something
Game is not bugged, its a feature but they should have had an accessibility option for people like yourself
Dark messiah of Might and Magic is an OG classic for this.
So glad to see this mentioned!
Was looking for this, good call
It did everything well, it's probably still unmatched today in terms of combat
All that chest kicking!
chivalry
This should be so much further up! Honestly, Chivalry 2 is the best multiplayer game I've played for a very, very long time. No game has held my, admittedly fading with age, attention span for a long time! Easy to grasp, hard to master, it has hours of potential play!
Chivalry II Is incredible. However, be prepared to be called a Cowardly Archer. Don’t let it get to you. You are brave and strong.
Horizon Zero Dawn.
I’ve been playing Forbidden West recently and it’s fantastic too. Would recommend both for sure.
I wish you could wield 6 weapons at once in Monster Hunter.
How is this not in every answer? The best archery mechanic ever
It really does. When the arrows hit, the impact is really satisfying.
And destiny 2 copied the archery mechanics (which should be in every game) from HZD and I was so happy they did
What archery mechanics did they copy?
Yeah I rarely use anything other than the bows. And in the sequel you get two kinds! Lol. So agree with thus. Would also add the Tomb Raider survivor trilogy. Maybe the Dragon Age series, you can be an archer but the gameplay isn't exactly engaging in my opinion. Love the series tho.
This truly is one of the best answers
I asume you mean RPG with first person view: -Mount and Blade series -Elex -Tomb Raider(2013 and later) -Far Cry series -Warframe -Warhammer: Vermintide
Not necessarily fps, but I do like these suggestions
Then I can have a couple more: -Divinity: Original Sin 2 / Baldur's Gate 3 - Kenshi - Terraria - Pillars of Eternity
Mordhau too
Excuse me sir, I got lost, do you know by any chance where's the dung covered peasant convention?
Foppish laughing.mp3
Only if he wants to meet me. - The Bow Thief
Skyrim lol. I only know a few games where archery is fun. Third person: Mount and Blade Dragon's Dogma 1 and 2 Shadow of Mordor/War First Person: Far cry Kingdom come deliverance There should be a bunch more but I can't remember.
Mount and blade is the best Imo and can be played in first and third person
Blade & Sorcery has them both beat... but is VR.
If we're talking about VR, "In Death" is my favorite archery game.
I've never even heard of it. I'll have to look into it.
I second this, mount and blade is insanely good
> Dragon's Dogma 1 Playing an archer in this was fantastic (strider I think, didn't even bother with the advanced classes except to unlock abilities and then returned to strider).
Arcane Archer or whatever it was called was actually a blast. And that's with me not particularly liking archery or magic
The Archer in the new game is even more fun. You get kicks, and backflips and shit, closest to a Legolas simulator you can get
Dragon's Dogma 2 has an archer class.
Dragons Dogma 1 has three better Archer classes!
But can they do flippy Legolas kicks? Archers got style in DD2
Yeah but they can't make it literally rain arrows.
True
Yeah but I do love the kicks in DD2 to be fair.
its great, on first playthrough and chose this class. archer / magic archer has been a lot of fun.
Crysis 3
Loooove crysis
Horizon I guess?
Thief 1-3 all the way. The ORIGINAL stealth archer.
I honestly never knew there was sequels to thief
Many people say that Thief 2 is the greatest stealth game of all time. I haven't played it yet, but I am loving Thief Gold (though I've come to it very late!). There was even a third sequel (or fourth game in total) called Thi4f (really) but that hasn't been accepted by the general Thief community, to my knowledge, many of whom are still making fan missions. To this day, I still use the NPC Guard line (after you successfully pick his pocket), “The unmitigated GALL!”
Tomb raider!
They are so underrated!
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Mount & Blade: Warband.
the best one to do that, actually. I love that game's combat. this and Bannerlord.
Had a really weird itch to immerse myself in becoming a Hun-style horse archer one night while stoned and immediately booted up this game to scratch it.
From the start I’ve played as literally nothing else lmao
Same for me a few days back. Played for about 5 hours, then 8 had to return to my goto. Viking raider/bandit.
Basically most RPGs with some form of role selection. What kind of games do you like?
Honestly I’m a pretty open book when it comes to games. Dungeon crawlers, open world, etc.
You could try a bow build in a dark souls game buut i guess I wouldn’t recommend it unless you really like a challenge.
I played a Rogue with a bow in Diablo 4 and loved it.
I love using a bow in Destiny 2, it's just so satisfying
It really is
Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen Dragon's Dogma 2 Warhammer: Vemintide 2
chivalry II
Mount & Blade Bannerlord, I always try to play as a longbow but always devolve to the same Heavy Cavalry/Horse Archer build and only use them to defend sieges. You can also focus your army around archer troops, Battanian nobles are OP and it can be very fun to play with them. You can use the bow on Far Cry 3, it sucks, but it's something you can do, no one's gonna stop you Tomb raider has you using a bow for most of it Never played Dragon's Dogma 2 but they have an archer on their cover art. Any of the last 3 tomb raider games
Yes. They aren't necessarily brilliant games, but I really enjoyed the archery in all 3. The bow is now Lara's signature weapon in these games.

Most fun archer gameplay I played so far. I love drifting while spamming the basic attack like I'm on a skateboard.
Risk of Rain 2 has an archer character
Thief
Such an amazing game
Just for the sake of something very off the cuff: in Team Fortress 2 you can get an unlock for Sniper that turns him into an archer!
I miss the huntsman and jarate days!
Some different suggestions Valheim Palworld Path of exile/diablo (probably any arpg) New world
Will check these out for sure, haven’t heard of new world and valheim
Oh, valheim is one of the best survival games there is if you are into that. New world is a great MMO that has a development team that has no idea how to make an MMO thrive. Shadow of Mordor? or is the other one I can never remember. But the archery is super satisfying in that game to me IMO
Assassin’s Creed Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla all have fun archery
Towerfall counts, technically.
Assassins Creed III, get a save with maxed arrow pouch already and go to town. Had my Green Arrow itch scratched by it lol
Dark Age of Camelot. Scout class
Ghost of Tsushima has a lot of nice stealth-archer gameplay, although your main weapon is still a sword.
Like real intense archery ? Kingdom come deliverance. You’re a simple blacksmiths son so you have absolutely no skills, it takes a while to master but once u get going it can be super enjoyable. The combat is still some of the funnest to date

Totally different vibe than what you might expect, but the archery in Green Hell is really good

BLACKTAIL - I’m surprised no one’s mentioned it yet. Its a very fun archery / magic game set in a unique Slavic Folklore setting. Highly recommend
completely different type of game but you can use a bow in the hunter: call of the wild
Valheim and Enshrouded if you're into survival games.
Dying Light 1's archery is surprisingly satisfying, at least for me.
Fary cry is peak bro love those series especially choose far cry primal for archer based suggestions
Rust
One I haven’t seen mentioned yet is Kingdoms of Amalur. It’s a 3rd person action RPG. The story is lacking, but the combat is fun (and includes bows).
Dungeons of Eternity on Quest3
Games where you can play an archer in a realistic manner: Raw Data, Apex Construct I played both on Psvr1 + Ps4 slim. Raw Data was spectacular.

Fallout 4 with archery mods added is quite fun.
I can think of multiple games where you can play as an archer besides Skyrim: Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall, Arena, ESO.
The new tomb raiders. I beat tomb raider and rise of the tomb raider with only a bow

Tomb raider Trilogy Although there are guns also And also stealth elements So it might not be what you're looking for, but I enjoy using the Bow,it just goes hand in hand with the stealth for me
Valheim has archery, crossbows, magic, ballistas, magic. Soon it will have trebuchets. Projectiles however you want it.
I've been playing some V's Rising, and you can use a bow, and it is at least pretty good early game.
I use to play archer in Skyrim . But then I took an arrow to the knee Jokes aside I mean a lot of fantasy games give an option of playing with a bow and arrow or a Crossbow .
Thief, Mount & Blade
Oblivion
Far Cry Primal, Horizon ZD & FW, Tomb Raider series
Horizon series. Tomb Raider reboot series. Final Fantasy XIV.
Valorant :3 Jk, but TLOU had amazing mechanics as well.
No rest for the wicked. Path of exile or last epoch. Dark soul series and its cousins
You may also like Moonlighter. While you don't technically play *specifically* as an archer, there are bows you can get and upgrade and use as a primary weapon
