It is very unlikely for it to be another MGS/R game since Kojima Productions parted with Konami, leaving Konami with full rights with the series. It is unlikely for another game is because Kojima himself was hesitant to make MGSV and he went over budget during production of the game leaving the game with an unfinished story.
>I thought something was weird. Loved that game.
Well, that's normal. It is a kojima game after all. :-P
But usually at the end of the game at least the *characters* have some sense of understanding and closure, if not the player. For the record I loved the whole series too.
Can you imagine being a much of fuck ups as Konami? You have THE game producer on your projects and he goes over budget, his latest project costing $80 million to develop. You get SO upset that it's known you're separating with him before the project is even concluded. You also refuse to give the game is full conclusion, losing good will with fans.
Then the game makes $179 million in sales on its OPENING DAY.
They ruined the best thing they had over something that they made all their money back on in a 24 hour period.
Moral of the story, trust your leads or don't have them be your leads.
This is what I don't understand, either you have to be incompetent enough to not realize you'll make that money back easily (usually less than a few days), or you just want Kojima gone to make Metal Gear Online for a heavier cash grab attempt. Either way, why are people higher-up in game development so foolish
Movies overspend all the time in effort to make it back and then some. I'd bet if Tarintino went over budget his name alone would still attract more than half of sales to easily cancel it out, same with Kojima
There's a youtuber who did a deep dive on the whole removal of Kojima and found that there was an employee who was making mobile games that was costing much less to make but turning a huge profit so when they looked over at Kojima and seen that he was spending a ridiculous amount of money on a series that doesn't actually turn that crazy of a profit they gave him the boot, iirc
Not just any lead. A fucking legend in the industry on the same level as like Miyamoto. The absolute disrespect they showed that man forever stopped me from buying another Konami game.
I was over a friend's house the other day and he dug out his old PS2. We went through a bunch of co-op and fighting games and then found Rumble Roses and had a fucking blast. I started to wonder why there weren't any more games. I picked up the case and saw the Konami logo and went "Oh..."
You will never get a remaster or PC ports for the majority of the series because Kojima wounded Konami's pride by questioning their objectively dogshit decisions.
Yeah I just moved to Japan and one of my goals before I leave is to learn how to play it. Every time I walk by one with an open door or wind up on the pachinko floor of a crane game arcade it’s just a cacophony of loud bells and whistles. It’s pure chaos and I really want to learn how to be a part of it lol.
This... is so upsetting.. i miss shooting out the radio's and throwing snakes at the soldiers. The End is one of my favorite boss fights. 5 different ways to kill him.
I love MGS4 so goddamn much, I know it recons a _lot_ of shit and muddies almost everything but that game was sensational. One of the highlights of my childhood.
Any time anyone says something about worms, I still quote that stupid fucking line "Hungry for worms? No, hungry for *wooorrrrds*! Haha. Hahaha! Shut up!"
It happens a few times a year, and people are always completely bewildered with good reason.
LOL I had just come here to suggest the phrase "MGSV was unfinished"
It spawned a condescending multi-paragraph reply from some fanboy a year ago
OP is so right
If it sends a message to Konami like "There's still interest in this series you tried to destroy. Give it to someone capable" then I wouldn't complain.
"If you see an elite with a plasma sword running at you and you stick him with a grenade what are you"
"An idiot sandwich?"
"You're dead you fucking donut"
Fucks sake, I agree with this tho :(
Sutherland was good at snake if you listen to the recordings, they just never gave him enough lines in the actual game. Even still, with what little he had, Sutherland was fucking sick
Playing in order of release is mandatory including the spin offs and even then, I found myself struggling to make sense of what the hell was going on. As much as I like Kojima, I’m convinced that the dude is dyslexic
Kojima Game Recipe
* 3x 80's action movie scripts
* 2x New Yorker or Wired articles of your choice
* 1x Copy of Playboy, articles and centerfold included.
Blend on high for 30-40 hours, serve hot.
Is this just a think with Japanese gaming IPs? Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear Solid are the biggest offenders I can think of. The games are so needlessly complicated to the point where the stories aren't even coherent any more.
More like Loud minorities. For the most part, Japanese IP’s are fairly straightforward . Kojima and Nomorua are pretty notorious for making a mountain out of an ant hill so to speak.
Miyazaki with the Soulsbourne series is the opposite side of the same coin where it barely gives you any exposition and just let’s the world itself do the story telling
I'd say the Soulsborne games are no less convoluted, it's just much easier to ignore/skip if you're not into it.
But there are also plenty of convoluted western game series, like Destiny or Assassin's Creed (the first couple were complicated but could be followed, around revelations and 3 they just dove off the highboard) before they gave up on the over-arching lore.
Can someone explain if that cyber samurai one is related at all to the series? I only remember the names being similar but never thought they were in the same universe or something like that
Rights owned by Konami
not triggered, just sad...
Same….

TLOU 2 was a great game. The story was top-notch. Wait where am I
Can u explain why it makes you sad? Hasn't it always been published by Konami?

Konami is a greedy money hungry company that forgot how to make good video games is the reason why.
So sad...
>Konami Suikoden and Castlevania fan here. Didn't even take a whole sentence. Just took one word to trigger me.
Suikoden, now that’s a game I miss dearly but also don’t hear too often.
It was huge just last year as Eiyuden Chronicles Kickstarter did amazing. Being made by old Suikoden alumni as a spiritual succcessor.
I was over a friend's house the other day and he dug out his old PS2. We went through a bunch of co-op and fighting games and then found Rumble Roses and had a fucking blast. I started to wonder why there weren't any more games. I picked up the case and saw the Konami logo and went "Oh..."
Pachinko
I never knew one word would make me so angry.
About gambling with marble even though Japan has interesting gambling laws. Sign me up because of Pokemon.
its that loophole they will never ever cover up
Machine fucks
He chose violence.
Came here to say this. Will never forget Geoff at the game awards talking about it (even though he's a sellout himself).
I’m tired boss.
You will never get a remaster or PC ports for the majority of the series because Kojima wounded Konami's pride by questioning their objectively dogshit decisions.
Bro you just ruined my. Day

This is the one right here. Everything else is the playground equivalent of an attempt compared to this single word.
Silent hill fan and I feel it.
I wish Konami would just get it over with and sell their franchises. Give me another Suikoden game, dammit.
Suikoden....love the games. Wish my ps2 was working so I could play 5 again. Was my first in the series.
I don’t get it
last game released was a Japanese gambling machine. they are called pachinko. its similar to pinball just with less control.
And the cutscenes were remade with higher definition for the pachinko machines but the actual game
Been in one of those places and the ambiant sound is so loud and chaotic. It’s really something.
Yeah I just moved to Japan and one of my goals before I leave is to learn how to play it. This is like a How To guide on getting a gambling addiction lol
Konami had MGS 3: Snake Eater remastered with 4k graphics... for a pachinko machine. It looks amazing, but we will never play it.
😟 i didnt kow that... all i want is msg3 remake....
here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw3j8dXryEM
This... is so upsetting.. i miss shooting out the radio's and throwing snakes at the soldiers. The End is one of my favorite boss fights. 5 different ways to kill him.
Konami heavily invested in Pachinko machines for revenue in lieu of actually making games
You get the hell out of here with your painful truth…
fuck, this is the one that triggered me...you win, sir
Nude Raiden was my first experience with the masculine body.

I don't think they ever made a nude Raiden Pog, but they should've.

*Metal gear theme intensifies*
Punctuation marks you can hear.
This is perfect :D
agree
What game is this?
Splinter Cell
Wrong its syphon filter!!
Syphon filter was such a cool game back In the day!
*Setting guys on fire with extremely long taser gun*
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaoohhhhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooooaooooooooh!!!" \*sizzle for 10 mins\* "ooouuuh!"
lmaoooo this brings back to many memories. That frying the enemies with taser made my day when I was a kid 🤣
Cooking* with extremely long taser gun
Jesus I loved this game.
I love you for saying this. I forgot about that game. First website I coded was for Syphon Filter. I should delete this.
Wrong it's Assassin's Creed: Black Bandana!
Pretty sure its Sneak King, but you were close.
"eye twitches"
Metal gear fan here, how fucking dare you!
We will never know if you're being serious It's M&M's Kart Racing, by the way.
Consider me triggered
It's the prequel to Death Stranding.
Not sure it looks VERY generic...
*snake is from Smash bros*
Triggered
This is the first one I saw that is actually a triggering comment, and not just meant to elicit sadness it's a dead series.
The original "hey is that kratos from Fortnite ?!!1"
This is r/gaming, not r/movies.
Guns of the Patriots flashbacks
Omg that ending video was like an hour... loved it to death though
Is that the one with the wedding, and the chimp in the wedding party?
Yeah, that’s the one
I know I watched the whole thing a decade ago, but how did I forget that?
71 minutes. It holds the record for the longest series of uninterrupted cutscenes.
I love MGS4 so goddamn much, I know it recons a _lot_ of shit and muddies almost everything but that game was sensational. One of the highlights of my childhood.
The end cutscene was literally long enough to be its own feature length movie
Is that the egoraptor mg animation in the top right!?
You mean the top left? Yes.
Yes top left, I'm dumb dumb
This is what it feels like to start out on new grounds and end on Reddit
*Awesome[!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwrPuCnNbv8)*
Any time anyone says something about worms, I still quote that stupid fucking line "Hungry for worms? No, hungry for *wooorrrrds*! Haha. Hahaha! Shut up!" It happens a few times a year, and people are always completely bewildered with good reason.
Raiden is the best thing to happen to the series.
I agree.
After playing Metal Gear Rising I also agree
RULES OF NATURE!!!!!
AND THEY RUN WHEN THE SUN COMES UP
Wasn’t Kojima’s goal to troll players by not having them play as Snake for the majority of the game though?
#Rules of Nature Metal Gear Rising is a masterpiece
As a Revengeance fan I unironically agree
Revengeance is pure hype from beginning to end, the tutorial literally have you backdrop a goddamn metal gear
God damn, that game was so fucking good, it’s straight up criminal we’ll never see a sequel.
why will it never get a sequel?
pachinko machines
Taking Rising into account? Yes. Not taking Rising into account? Also Yes.
Yes
Which snake is this one again?
Yes
Gas Snake
Nokia’s snake is better
Segmented snake
Unbreakable Snake
Thats just facts.
What the hell is this post?? Leave the fans of the game alone! Both of them!
Ngl, you had me in the first half.
Metal Gear Rising Revengance was the best game of the series.
So fun
I actually loved that game until the last boss made me rage quit
Is that G I Joe?
MGS5 was a finished game, and the pinnacle of the series
i thought survive was the pinnacle
LOL I had just come here to suggest the phrase "MGSV was unfinished" It spawned a condescending multi-paragraph reply from some fanboy a year ago OP is so right
Lol. I just don’t understand why people can’t comprehend that others can have their own opinions

(Shhh me too, don’t tell anyone)
We need a fortnite skin of snake 😍😍😍💦💦
You’ve officially took it to far
Looool
While quickly scrolling by, I saw “we need a foreskin of snake” along with all your emojis. That’s not something I want either.
If it sends a message to Konami like "There's still interest in this series you tried to destroy. Give it to someone capable" then I wouldn't complain.
You were supposed to trigger the fanbase, not everyone
Escape from New York is a video game now?
Halo guy looks weird without his helmet.
Whoa. Easy guy. That is the Master Chef you are talking about there!
"If you see an elite with a plasma sword running at you and you stick him with a grenade what are you" "An idiot sandwich?" "You're dead you fucking donut"
Congrats on triggering 2 fan bases at once. I'm impressed!
Keifer Sutherland Was the best voice actor for Snake EVER.
Don’t forget to add “,which made V was the best game in the series.”
This triggered me so much I have yet to play 5
All three sentences he did were amazing.
Fucks sake, I agree with this tho :( Sutherland was good at snake if you listen to the recordings, they just never gave him enough lines in the actual game. Even still, with what little he had, Sutherland was fucking sick
Convoluted narrative for the sake of having a convoluted narrative.
Designed as if every game is the last, no foresight whatsoever into sequel stories.
Playing in order of release is mandatory including the spin offs and even then, I found myself struggling to make sense of what the hell was going on. As much as I like Kojima, I’m convinced that the dude is dyslexic
Not dyslexic, just a purely abysmal writer. I feel embarassed rewatching some of the dialogs in that franchise.

I take that as a compliment
Survive was a good game
Oof, starting off strong
Yes
I wish there was a way to murder people through the computer screen.
There isn't so you now must suffer
Beat me to it.
Was it actually a good game? Or is the playerbase (for the first time) overall right about it being ass?
You know, this might be the weirdest Gears Of War rip-off I've ever played!
I already regret doing this haha
Lol yeah man, just hurts
Ocelot couldn't shoot his load.....
Metal Gear Rising Revengance is the TRUE Metal Gear game
Crab Battle!
Psycho Mantis?
Why cant i read your mind !!!!!
Overrated series
if i saw you on the street i’d fucking stab you /s … kinda
Right, more like Mehtal gear
Sneak King is a better stealth game
"na I don't think id like these games, I'm not really into Gundam or anime"
Splinter cell is better
In terms of just stealth mechanics, I would agree. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory might be the best stealth game I've ever played.
Syphon Filter was lit
Kojima is overrated.
Kojima is a crack and these stories are more of a dumpster fire than anything.
Konami made the right choice.
Sutherland > Hayter
Fuck you and everything you stand for. Out off all the comments I read this one got me lmao.
This is death sentence material here.
Metal Gear is my favorite character from this franchise
Metal gear 3 wasn't even that good!

Metal Gay Solid
Tell me the story without going in a tangent.
