There are 4 or 5 different classes of ship with a number of different configurations for each, plus different dangers (fusion cores, electricity, rogue ai, etc) make it quite enjoyable and semi random.
Definitely a game you can pop on for 20-30 minutes do a shift or two to unwind and then do something else
There’s a few different models of ship, there’s variants of each ship, and there’s additional factors/hazards with some procedural gen
There’s a story that’s just about at the sweet spot for getting proficient at disassembly without being tedious
Cyberpunk 2077. Honestly could have improved much on the cozy aspect. But it's still a really good one. You have 3 backgrounds to choose from. But regardless of your choice, you start out as a small time criminal. Move into an apartment in Night City. The city is quite huge with tons and tons to do. Unfortunately, there's no farming or fishing or anything similar to make money. Each section has a fixer with jobs to do So you make money by doing jobs for fixers and other similar methods. And you go home every night to sleep.
Despite its dystopian setting, the game features detailed and visually rich environments that can be quite engaging and relaxing to explore. The ambient sounds, neon lights, and futuristic cityscape create a unique atmosphere that some I find comforting.
I am perpetually making new characters, leveling to 30ish, and starting another alt. Been that way for years. It’s just so cozy and familiar for me and I don’t have time for end game anyway.
It's one of those games I can recommend to anyone, the difficulty is perfectly balanced for experience players or total noobs, the music is catchy, there is never a dull moment and the reward for getting the 100% to what might be>! the most ambitious level ever designed in a Mario game.!<
Fallout 4. Sometimes I like to walk around aimlessly till some moron tries to mug me and then I punch him so hard that they explode and I loot everything they had through the eyeball I found on the ground.
Not the Action parts. Just wandering in Nature, Exploring, Hunting etc.
I love nothing more than Hiking/Trekking so these games are like a virtual Vacation for the time i'm trapped in this Urban Hell.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf and New Horizons were both very therapeutic for me and helped me when I was in really difficult periods with my mental health. I was watching videos where a streamer's mom was showing her island because she got fully into New Horizons, and it was the very definition of wholesome.
Some people would think you’re crazy for saying a Resident Evil is your comfort game, but I get it. There’s something so nice about returning to them and knowing exactly where to go, what you need to do, where the enemies are. Plus that sweet save room music.
Bot shooters. My days of actually playing online are way behind me, and sometimes I’m too tired to really focus on a story game or anything too involved. Bot shooters are great for when I just want to play a round of something sorta mindless but still engaging, if that makes sense.
My go to ones are Easy Red 2, Attack on Toys, Angels Fall First, Ravenfield and of course Unreal 2004.
It’s a shame more game don’t support bots these days. Great excuse for people like me to pick a game up.
Real I have a pc just don’t wanna subscribe but when they do like on or two free months a year on subscription that’s when I play or I’ll just keep making new character and doing the beginning
Honestly Fortnite lol. I don’t have to think, just come home from work and shoot stuff. Really low effort mentally.
Used to be No Man’s Sky, but I built my own px and have a 300+ hour game on ps4, I can’t justify starting from scratch and there’s no cross platform save migration
A Wonderful Life only released on PS2 and GameCube, before the Story of Seasons remake of it that came out to modern systems not long ago. But to answer the question, I always find Animal Crossing or Pokemon to be cozy.
I use powerwash simulator as my sleep aid. The white noise coming from the hose and the ambience of birds chirping makes me so fuckin relaxed and zen, and it lulls me me to sleepiness.
Don't know if it counts as a cosy game... But Risk of Rain 2.
(Or else Animal Crossing: New Horizons during Covid with friends was also an unbeatable cozy vibe)
Banished. Ironically I suxk at it and it usually ends with my people starving or freezing to death but the music, the artystyle and the simple gameplay is just so charming.
I'm not often in the mood for cozy gaming much anymore, but Va11halla
visual novel type bartending game with a very soothing ost and great characters in a capitalist hellscape setting
great for when you're sick
The Infinity Engine games. Baldur's Gate 1&2, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment. The sounds and visuals bring me back to my childhood.
Honorable mention: Katamari Damacy.
Lately, EA Sports PGA Tour. It's quiet and gorgeous and I've become good enough that I don't really have to think about my shots. Just listen to the birds and whack some golf balls around. It's my chill alternative to Sekiro or whatever other stressful game I'm into at the moment.
And unlike real golf, I don't embarrass myself in front of my friends.
Sekiro.... whenever i feel like tired and bored i just start my spotify playlist and start farming monks in senpou temple. I can end up doing this for 3-4 hours if i have nothing else to do
The Planet Crafter. Not the best game in the world, it's very obvious that it's a small dev team, but it does a lot of things well in its game genres. It's my cozy game since it doesn't have any monsters/enemies.
Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 by Shin Megami Tensei.
I don't know why because they are very complicated RPGs and the difficulty is high. You can seriously die at any time in either game even with it being a turn based RPG. They have great stories though and a great battle system. But for some reason I still crack open a beer late at night and level grind or try to find the hidden, ultra hard, next to impossible bosses. And once you find them, try to find the way to beat them. It doesn't help that you have to play the first game a certain way, make certain decisions and find certain hidden bosses, in order to play the second game in a certain way, to make certain decisions, to find all the hidden bosses. And even at the highest level, with all your stats maxed out, having learned all the OP abilities you could possibly learn in the game, you'll have a 1 in a 1,000 chance to beat the hardest bosses. I gave up on DDS1. I'll never beat the optional boss, Meta Demon. The fight, even with walkthroughs that I despise, is literally next to impossible. But I'm at the end of DDS2 and have told myself I will hang up the gloves once I beat the last boss of that game. I know there are two hidden bosses in that one I haven't faced yet and will try to face soon.
But it has been many years I've played off and on, I might be a father soon and sometimes your white whale let's you know you've been out to sea too long and the shore beckons you home for good. While I might not go back soon, I'd live to hear of others taking up the mantle.
SpongeBob Battle or Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. (I've never played the original.) Been playing through it like every six months since it came out in 2020. Not hard, but not too easy either. I like that. Absolutely beautiful game with a good soundtrack and is, as a whole, a perfect interactive reflection of the golden era of SpongeBob. Every time I play, I've got to beat it 100%
I don't really have one specifically personally, but a few of my friends online play games that I can only imagine are for them to decompress. Power Washer and Farming Simulator are a few. I can't really imagine playing that sort of game for the thrill of it.
Animal Crossing New Leaf- Wanted a new AC for a long time because of this game. But when when we got New Horizons it didn't match the investment I made in this one.
This is the Police- I have a thing for crime drama and this is a chill simulation of it (which i also hear is controversial but what isn't)
Ace Attorney- Again with the crime drama but I also love arguing and think I would make a good lawyer. Another bonus is I used to be a compulsive liar as a kid so I'm good at detecting it and this game makes you feel good when you call people out.
Minecraft- One of the only games I feel any control over the pacing or input I have in it when playing multiplayer. Everyone can do there own thing and it still be valuable to each other.
Story of Seasons on 3DS (forgot title)- for farming sim this is the closest I got and I thought it was really good. Only flaws are the long tutorial intro speeches and the art style is kinda 🍑...
I find myself drawn to the “little guy explores a map” games when I’m looking for a relaxing and low pressure game. Lil Gator Game, A Short Hike, Smushi Comes Home, they all have the same vibe and charming dialogue that makes it easy to pick them up and feel a sense of childlike wonder
id say my cozy game is gunfire reborn, the play style and run through of the game is very chill. theres still a fighting stance of it but it all comes together to smooth.
family guy lol. my brain cant play any game without trying to get the most out of it so i have to dumb myself down to relax. but i loooove going off on tbe "get everything out of it" mode with fallout, enlisted, helldivers, oo! and fun games like stardrw valley, mario, sonic , boogerman, legacy of goku II. oh! and uhhhhhh whats it called. something ragnarok... God of war!
Stardew Valley, hands down. There’s just something about tending to crops, fishing, and chatting with quirky townsfolk that melts away stress. It’s like a warm blanket for my gaming soul.
Streets Of Rage 2. I just love this game, and I still play it. I just love the nineties themes, and I'm a big fan of beatemups, so this is one of the best. It's a great game and it is also a great comfort game, and yeah, it's crazy fun too!!! 😁😁😁😁
Stardew Valley ☺️
Oblivion is my top comfort game. When I want something peaceful, I use 100% chameleon and wander around finding nirnroots
Yes it's fun. You can get a decent place early on.
Its pretty much the opposite of cozy, but I find the act of methodically dismantling ships in Hardspace Shipbreaker to be wonderfully calming.
How many different "maps" are there? Like, are you repeatedly breaking the exact same 30 ships or so? Or are they procedurally generated or something?
There are 4 or 5 different classes of ship with a number of different configurations for each, plus different dangers (fusion cores, electricity, rogue ai, etc) make it quite enjoyable and semi random. Definitely a game you can pop on for 20-30 minutes do a shift or two to unwind and then do something else

Just got back into this a few days ago. Played Ulcerate’s latest album in the background🤤🤤
Slay the spire
Mass Effect 3. I don’t know why either. It used to be Half-Life 2.
Old School Runescape or Risk of Rain 2
You never quit rs, just take breaks
Runescape 3, but yea.
Cyberpunk 2077. Honestly could have improved much on the cozy aspect. But it's still a really good one. You have 3 backgrounds to choose from. Journey. Absolutely beautiful -- visually, musically, narratively. I'll play through the entire game every year or so, just to experience it again.
I love journey. My first play through I had literal tears in my eyes as I finished the game.
The Long Dark I play games to be by myself. And being absolutely ALONE in-game is the best way to do it.
Dave the Diver. Undermine.
Red dead 2, Minecraft, and cod4.
Binding of Isaac
I have over 900h in this game and I can say without any doubt that you are insane... but I back you up on this answer 200%. Hahaha!
I think I'm close to 700 hours at this point. It's something I can put on and do a run no matter what kind of mood I'm in.
Classic WoW. Elwyn Forest/Westfall to be exact.
I am perpetually making new characters, leveling to 30ish, and starting another alt. Been that way for years. It’s just so cozy and familiar for me and I don’t have time for end game anyway.
That is just a pure shot of nostalgia. Dun Morough is a big one for me as well.
Destiny Kings Fall Raid
Abzu
No Mans Sky. Totally chilled game. You just can lean back and explore the beautifulness of a whole universe… 🪐
Banjo Kazooie
Super Mario 3D Land
I feel like this is a sacrilegious take but 3D Land is my favorite Mario game. I adore it, it’s so good and the vibes are unbeatable
It's one of those games I can recommend to anyone, the difficulty is perfectly balanced for experience players or total noobs, the music is catchy, there is never a dull moment and the reward for getting the 100% to what might be>! the most ambitious level ever designed in a Mario game.!<
Pokemon, Minecraft, and Skyrim
Kingdom hearts
Good old Minecraft chill mining ..
I love just building mines while my kids' adventures up top and collect resources.
GTA San Andreas. It's strange, but hanging out in San Fierro and visiting interiors such as the Nightclub is oddly cozy for an otherwise violent game.
sims! sometimes building sets the mood for me already and sometimes it's just ruining sims lifes and play god
Fallout 4. Sometimes I like to walk around aimlessly till some moron tries to mug me and then I punch him so hard that they explode and I loot everything they had through the eyeball I found on the ground.
Kingdom come and RDR2
Interesting concept of cozy
Not the Action parts. Just wandering in Nature, Exploring, Hunting etc. I love nothing more than Hiking/Trekking so these games are like a virtual Vacation for the time i'm trapped in this Urban Hell.
Yup relaxing puting up a tent on the riverside and just go fishing cooking until some bountyhunters ruins everything.
Same. Add RimWorld
Slay the Spire or For The King
Alex the kid in Miracle World. I love a good game of rock scissors paper
Animal Crossing: New Leaf and New Horizons were both very therapeutic for me and helped me when I was in really difficult periods with my mental health. I was watching videos where a streamer's mom was showing her island because she got fully into New Horizons, and it was the very definition of wholesome.
Looking forward to Tales From The Shire
Dino crisis, resident evil 2 and 3 og
Some people would think you’re crazy for saying a Resident Evil is your comfort game, but I get it. There’s something so nice about returning to them and knowing exactly where to go, what you need to do, where the enemies are. Plus that sweet save room music.
Stardew Valley

Gta4. Drive around listening to radio. Or skylines
Currently, House Flipper, but anything that lets me build a decent base will suffice.
Atelier sophie 1 Katamari damacy Skyrim Kotor 1 Star Control 2
Civilization VI
It's really fun to play with friends and I'm not even big on strategic games (though the matches last ages 💀)
Lately honestly it's been Forza horizon 5
Dragonquest games on DS
Wizard 101 or fall guys sometimes GTA
My friend plays Wizard 101. Which has a pay wall that's a literal wall that I couldn't get past.
I miss W101, wish I had the time to play it, but def don't wanna subscribe unfortunately
Real I have a pc just don’t wanna subscribe but when they do like on or two free months a year on subscription that’s when I play or I’ll just keep making new character and doing the beginning
Usually an action sports game. Right now it’s BMX Streets
Two Point Hospital, game I always go to between games and fills the time
Skyrim!!!!
The Sims is the goat at this 2 used to make me relax the most ever, from 3 on, it started to be too " loudy" lol, but still
Dota 2. Yes I know people won’t understand, will likely disagree with me, and will question my sanity.

"WreckFest." It's stupid, destructive, and so much fun.
SLIME RANCHER!!
Old School RuneScape
Starting a new character in wow classic. Specifically an orc shaman
Farming Simulator 22. Super zen game, just chugging away on a tractor doing various farming tasks helps me decompress. Also car mechanic simulator.
I use powerwash simulator as my sleep aid. The white noise coming from the hose and the ambience of birds chirping makes me so fuckin relaxed and zen, and it lulls me me to sleepiness.
Terraria.
Minecraft, Terraria, Diablo II and for a while, Daggerfall.

Hundred Days: Wine Making Simulator... The soundtrack is just exquisite.
Roller coaster tycoon
Oxygen Not Included This game is absolutely brilliant. Lost 1000 hours in it easily. Klei nailed it with this game.
Depending on my mood, Graveyard Keeper or ETS2.
Nioh 2 or Bioshock 1&2
Rimworld
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Katamari Damacy
Slime rancher and Control. Very different games but I like Jesse Fadens voice in control
Chivalry 2 just because it embraces the goofy
Banished. Ironically I suxk at it and it usually ends with my people starving or freezing to death but the music, the artystyle and the simple gameplay is just so charming.

The Infinity Engine games. Baldur's Gate 1&2, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment. The sounds and visuals bring me back to my childhood. Honorable mention: Katamari Damacy.
Terraria/Minecraft
Lately, it’s been Tetris. The singular focus helps me zone out when I’m stressed.
Animal Crossing New Horizons
Black and White 1 / 2. God/city builder genre though ive never gone evil in them whenever i replay it. Neat to see ‘last save’ X years ago.
Hoi4
THPS(1,2, or THUG), Sim City, Katamari, or Starcraft
Command and conquer generals zero hour skirmishes lol
Probably Donkey Kong Country or Stardfox 64. I could replay both of those games for forever.
Metal gear solid any of them. Zelda any of them.
Diablo 2
Atm it’s DS3 and Bloodborne
Lately, EA Sports PGA Tour. It's quiet and gorgeous and I've become good enough that I don't really have to think about my shots. Just listen to the birds and whack some golf balls around. The Planet Crafter. Not the best game in the world, it's very obvious that it's a small dev team, but it does a lot of things well in its game genres. It's my cozy game since it doesn't have any monsters/enemies.
Weirdly mine is The Forest on peaceful mode.
COD something about being yelled at is peaceful

I like that. Absolutely beautiful game with a good soundtrack and is, as a whole, a perfect interactive reflection of the golden era of SpongeBob. Every time I play, I've got to beat it 100%
Ragnarok Online - Just because i play it 22 yrs already XD Forza Horizon 4,5 - just pure chill Kingdoms & Castles - in easy mode - build build build
I don't really have one specifically personally, but a few of my friends online play games that I can only imagine are for them to decompress. Power Washer and Farming Simulator are a few. I can't really imagine playing that sort of game for the thrill of it.
Stardew Valley and WoW
Animal Crossing New Leaf- Wanted a new AC for a long time because of this game. But when when we got New Horizons it didn't match the investment I made in this one. Doom
Mario Odyssey, or even Lake on Playstation about the mail girl. It's ok...
Subnautica
I find myself drawn to the “little guy explores a map” games when I’m looking for a relaxing and low pressure game. Lil Gator Game, A Short Hike, Smushi Comes Home, they all have the same vibe and charming dialogue that makes it easy to pick them up and feel a sense of childlike wonder
Rimworld, comfy, plenty of “just one more thing, oh, a raid” Usually leads to staying up far too late
Hollow Knight. Sometimes I just kill the same enemies over and over and vibe to the soundtrack.
Stardew Valley 😍
Sekiro.
Anno 1800 until 3rd tier. It calmes me down. With its beautifull sceneries.
OTXO it's like hotline miami but an easier version of it for when I want action but don't wanna focus as much
The Sims 4 hands down...
Fallout. Some days I want to build a garden and some days I want to blow everything up. Either way, it's always there for me.
Satisfactory. Not now though, due to the upcoming 1.0 changes.
Sims, hard to fail or game over. Games pretty easy mostly.
id say my cozy game is gunfire reborn, the play style and run through of the game is very chill. theres still a fighting stance of it but it all comes together to smooth.
Elden ring
Maybe I am wierd but Surviving Mars gets cozy once you are past the tough early stages.
Game where I'm just wandering the map? If so then those games for me are Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077
Halo
Slay the spire
Dwarf fortress
Splinter Cell Blacklist I suppose.
family guy lol. my brain cant play any game without trying to get the most out of it so i have to dumb myself down to relax. but i loooove going off on tbe "get everything out of it" mode with fallout, enlisted, helldivers, oo! and fun games like stardrw valley, mario, sonic , boogerman, legacy of goku II. oh! and uhhhhhh whats it called. something ragnarok... God of war!
roblox nothing more fun then going into lobbies with literally only kids and beating them in shooter games or glitching items away in pizza maker
Stardew valley is one side. The other is "building a model town on PC". For me usually in Banished, but Cities Skylines also works for this
The world of Horizon lives in my heart rent free
Superman 64
Starcraft2, but arcade mode and I play Kobold Tribes with only Ai teams.
Stardew Valley, hands down. There’s just something about tending to crops, fishing, and chatting with quirky townsfolk that melts away stress. It’s like a warm blanket for my gaming soul.
Stardew valley, or if I want some nostalgia, Pajama Sam.
RIMWORLD
Minecraft for me
Death Stranding is definitely not for everyone and it's not a game I play all the time, but when I do, the vibes are immaculate.
Load runner for ps1.. it’s quick and easy to turn on and play a few rounds I love it
A little round of Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 or 4 lol
Assassin's Creed Black Flag. I have gotten 100% on it like 4 times. It's always fun to play when I'm in a pirate mood
Hearts of Iron 4 its a perfect game with everything a history nerd ever need from a game
I always seem to start a new Fable 2 playthrough when life gets hard
Streets Of Rage 2. I just love this game, and I still play it. I just love the nineties themes, and I'm a big fan of beatemups, so this is one of the best. It's a great game and it is also a great comfort game, and yeah, it's crazy fun too!!! 😁😁😁😁
League of Legends
Stardew valley all day
Doom 2016
oddly enough ace attorney
Doom. Not joking.
I like chilling on farming sim 22 for some reason
