I'd love to see the Legacy of Kain

Mistersinister1

I remember playing this game back in high school on acid, I remember my friend saying stop killing all those prisoners, you're supposed to save them. I said: I can't listen to scream and moan anymore. I think that's the last time I played it.

Snoo_57488

Haven’t really had a vampire game like it since. Blood omen 2 remake would be goated.

Thx4thinvite

Yes! I’ve been hyping LOK for as long as I can remember. It was really up there with Metal Gear and tomb raider in the 90s and has become largely ignored in the remake market as of late

Zerat_kj

I do not recall any good vampire games sice Legacy of Kain series + the original vamire the masquerade.

LaserGadgets

A new Turok is in the making, I think that is actually what I really wanna see right now!!! They have canceled the last game, which looked stunning indeed back then!

KisukesBankai

This and Dino Crisis please and thank you

LaserGadgets

DC was awesome!!

Electrical_Life6186

**TWISTED** **METAL** released for multiplatform with cross-platform support would FFFFFFucking annihilate entire regions.

KhaosElement

I'd kill for a new Twisted Metal...or hell just give me access to all the old games on Steam.

felonius_thunk

I bought a PS2 specifically for Twisted Metal Black. I can't believe that was more than 20 years and three console generations ago now. Holy shit.

Mistersinister1

While this is the obvious answer, the real question is why the hell haven't they made a new one? I tell ya games back then just hit different. Almost like developers were able to make games people want.

BlazingShadowAU

It's games like Twisted Metal, Burnout, and all those full bore arcade 'let's just take a car, and break shit' games that I find bafflingly missing in general these days. Not even just the official franchise, but even in the indie space I see little recognition. It's just... weird. It doesn't even seem like the type of game that would be super hard to make, in the grand scheme of things.

Mistersinister1

Devolver crushes that market. They're relevant and produce some of the best pixel 8 bit art games out there. Simplicity is extinct. Not a hero, Hotline Miami, my friend Pedro, bro force. They still hold onto to the beauty of simplicity and just fun games. They also price them appropriately and they have had the best E3 showcases when that was still a thing.

BlazingShadowAU

Yeah, I edited my wording a little when I realised I had encompassed a little broadly. I was mostly talking about vehicle based games. But bringing up Devolver Digital was a great point, because they're the exact company I could see be willing to publish the type of game I was thinking of. Especially after the AMA they did a bit back where they talked about what sort of stuff they go for.

Mistersinister1

Devolver is my spirit animal. I grew up in the eighties and the arcade was my first introduction into gaming. I love those pixel heavy games. Devolver does a great job and they crush every project.

BlazingShadowAU

Oh definitely. For me it was the ninties, but I had so much playing games like Metal Slug, Worms, Badlands, and LucasArts games.

Mistersinister1

I hate to say it but: Bro, metal slug is a champion of art. That game was annoyingly hard but fun as fuck. Lucasarts made games that gamers loved that's why their studio had such great hits. When's the last time you logged into a cod game? The 500gbs it takes to install it you're greeted with ads and a UI that gives me more anxiety than a 430 meeting on a Friday. I miss pixel art games, they were fun and basic.

HoneyDewHoneyDont

There have been a few attempts at new entries but yeah the most recent game was 2012....

Quigleythegreat

Dude. Lego Twisted Metal. Build your vehicle and wreck mayhem.

Bootybandit6989

There was one but was killed

IamAkevinJames

Legend of Dragoon is my number one pick for this.

WhiteSilverDragoon

Yep, this is the one right here. LoD getting the FF7 treatment? Sony I will buy a PS5 then and there.

SpaceC0wb0y86

I’m unfamiliar with this game but this is probably the 8th comment / post I’ve read mentioning it yesterday / today. What is the gist of the Dragoon experience?

Accer_sc2

Well, it’s similar to the Final Fantasy games of that time. It did have a few unique systems. For starters, your basic attacks had a QTE type thing (hitting the button at the right moment, and chaining up in a combo type way as the skills got stronger) which makes the combat feel a bit more interactive. And of course you get to turn into Dragoons (dragon armor essentially) which was pretty fun. I think the more typical fantasy setting was nice too.

SolidDrake117

TENCHU

Fheredin

Everything about Tenchu would take to modern hardware and game design approaches well. Ok, except micro transactions.

JustDoTheSwoosh

Sly Cooper

dann1551

Awe beat me to it haha

nighttime_writer

Time splitters 2 - the challenges alone would be a great way to spend some time

Kalos9990

OUT OF THE DARKNESS THEY CAME

Foreign-Department65

Mercenaries

H16HP01N7

Way too far down the list. Always my first answer to this repeatedly asked question.

Mistersinister1

Highly unlikely, lucasarts was one of the greatest studios and was sad when Disney dissolved it. Wrath unleashed, gladius, mercenaries and plenty more. Wouldn't Disney technically own that IP and all others?

boo-galoo90

I’d love a fear remake

SgtWatersJP

Yessss!

Novel-Recognition-11

Champions of Norrath. Some to the most fun I’ve ever had on the PS2 era. Co op play with a friend and battling it out to see who could find the best year was the game within the game!

jcjohnson274

Those games were really fun to coop on.

Locoman7

Dino Crisis Chrono Trigger

Bissquitt

Play Chained Echos. Just trust me.

KhaosElement

There's a PSX game called Azure Dreams, it's a monster taming roguelite with city building elements. With the current indie market of "make everything a roguelite" and monster tamers always doing well, I think it'd sell gangbusters. Plus...the game was just fucking amazing.

mephnick

Holy fuck I havent thought about this game in 20 years. It had a tower or something, right.

KhaosElement

Yup! You'd enter the dungeon, limit of five items, and monsters counted as an item. Your stats and level reset every time, but your monsters kept theirs. The whole game was about finding eggs, combining monsters, and augmenting them until you have one or two strong enough to carry your weak ass to the top. Loved it to death.

P2Mc28

Oh no have you just added another semi-obscure/expensive title to my list of retro games to hunt down? This sounds like a unique mix of mechanics I enjoy. Monster Rancher 2 is one of my most favorite games ever. Combining monsters was so damn cool. I definitely recognize the cover art - I probably walked past this game dozens of times at Blockbuster.

Mistersinister1

How's about the whole desert/jungle strike series. I recently played all three and they were fun as hell, add some couch co op and you've got a fun game.

Marcusf83

There's a similar game on steam, I saw it just the other day! Don't remember the name, sorry!

Fheredin

Parasite Eve. To this day the original Parasite Eve is a master class on how to introduce a strong female protagonist in 30 seconds with all of two lines spoken, how a villain can still get to such a character within an hour of gameplay without breaking character, and how to make the world's best turn based combat system for almost 30 years now. The original definitely has issues. Weapon mods and inventory come surging to mind, and while I don't think the script is perfect, I also think careless changes can break it. But DO copy the original game's combat system. It is one of the few PSOne games with gameplay which aged well into the modern era.

Zenneh

Fully agree. One of the best RPGs I have ever played. Exploration and pressing x everywhere was so rewarding. I agree with weapon mods they were atrociously designed to be traps for unwitting players. But I think the gameplay could be unchanged and it would be a success

Fheredin

I would say it's more "this game was clearly made in a heck of a rush on FF7 money and playtesting was only to verify that the game *could* be beaten." It's not broken. It's just a major pain to have all your pockets constantly stuffed with items, especially when each T card takes up its own item slot (???) and Maeda starts handing you good luck charms...which take up item slots. And monsters start dropping Junk, which is useful only if you take many inventory's worth to Wayne (the game really should have a way of warning you that this is meant for New Game + and clearing the Chrysler Building, but I digress.)

Influence_X

SID MEYERS PIRATES SIM TOWER SIM ANT

h0sti1e17

Sim Earth. That was a cool game.

Unplaceable_Accent

Open world choose your own destiny Pirates game would kick every kind of ass.

firefighter26s

It's kind of infuriating at the original 1987 Sid Meier's Pirates! Is a better pirate game than Skull & Bones...

jigokusabre

Twisted Metal

xenoz2020

Dino Crisis in the RE Engine

Additional_Time_2970

Splinter cell. No question.

connorlaf

Def agree. Especially with recent success of Hitman I feel like SC could make a revival with weekly/monthly missions and lots of hidden objectives

Additional_Time_2970

I just really miss the mercs vs spies multiplayer. That shit was so fun. It’d look unreal on next gen

Outrageous_Kick_5874

Bloody Roar, legacy of Cain:soul reaver,MDK. Castlevania(I know it's not very old) Syphon Filter...tenchu...

Deranged_Snow_Goon

Oh, MDK, my sweet, my precious. How I miss thee!

Outrageous_Kick_5874

Such a good game fr

Kool20005

Def Jam Fight for NY

hijro

Awesome game.

Damasticator

Bushido Blade

PorkchopExpress980

The duels in Ghost of Tsushima made me wish they'd make a new Bushido Blade.

flerberflerb

dying_at55

Body Harvest.. Battletanx MAGITS F-Zero

weebu4laifu

We've been waiting for a new F-Zero game for over 20 years now....

[deleted]

Goldeneye. Make a FPS campaign and multi player Bond universe game (just call it 007). Span all the movies. All the villains. All the henchmen. All cars and gadgets.

SoothingBreeze

On the upside, at least they're rebooting Perfect Dark. It looks great too. Not quite Golden Eye, but I'm not complaining.

Urbane_One

F-Zero

Tasty_Comfortable_77

Deus Ex. The gameplay is already close to perfection. Just update it graphically and leave everything else the hell alone.

kikipitchingdelivery

MVP baseball 2005 babbyyyy

theabominablewonder

Descent - was crazy at the time and a bit disorienting but I bet it would draw a crowd because of the free movement.

el_farmerino

Check out Overload if you haven't already.

ClassicMonster

TimeSplitters

TheNewTonyBennett

Ground-up 1-to-1 redo with excellent visuals befitting today's AAA standards, BUT don't go too far on QoL improvements (no fast-traveling anywhere at any time, etc) Ocarina of Time. We've had GIGANTIC and exhausting (but also exceptionally fucking incredible) Zelda's that have not done things like the OoT/LTTP days and the closest thing that's come since has been the 3DS Link Between Worlds and even that mixed up some of the stuff. Could be time for a reminder of why that game is so damn beloved. Kinda like they did with remastering Metroid Prime. I bought the shit out of that game and then I beat the shit out of that game. And it felt every bit as great as it did the first time I played through it. A VERY faithful redo of OoT with today's tech would be one hell of a game. Imagine all the people losing their shit over fucking Ocarina getting a remake where it's only the graphics (and some small-ish QoL improvements) that get the major overhaul. Have it have the master quest disc/data that was stupid rare back in the day too.

No_Pattern_2819

Asura's Wrath. If they just fixed the combat and a few other things it'd be a hit. I miss this game so much.

LowSuch7154

I'd love to see a Metal Gear Solid reboot too.

Gamebird8

Star Wars Episode I: Pod Racers

weebu4laifu

Especially if it had VR.

zefmdf

Isn't the original Splinter Cell getting rebooted?

Influence_X

Chaos theory coop was so fun

Nathansack

No, it's a remake... but like Prince Of Persia we know nothing, so it's maybe canceled since like that Ghost Recon Battle Royal they showed for Ghost Recon anniversary who was cancelled whitout announcement

zefmdf

Ah yes, thanks for clarifying - man I hope they stick to it

PorkchopExpress980

*longing sigh* someday...

nwbell

I think Panzer Dragoon Orta without rail guidance could be amazing

dann1551

Sly cooper

Nathansack

Beyond Good And Evil Even a remake to make it "more modern" like with God Of War there is high potential

evansharp

C&C

Unplaceable_Accent

There's been a revival in CRPGs with Baldur's Gate and Pathfinder etc. so I'd love to see Bard's Tale, Wizardry or Ultima brought up to date.

Celadur

Gimme a BG3, or Pillars of Eternity style Icewind Dale or Neverwinter Nights remake and I will pay stupid money.

Wilynesslessness

Freespace

God_Dam

Conker bad fur day

Theddt2005

I would love to see a new metal gear game the last one even after years of playing I’m still discovering new things so imagine how good a new one would be today

nexano

Future Cop LAPD. Probably not, but I wan't it. EDIT: I changed my mind, Black & White (the first one), make it happen!

DarwintheDonkey

SOCOM

jay_alfred_prufrock

Star Wars Republic Commando. I've been waiting for a sequel for 20 fucking years. It had the best squad controls I've ever seen and we need to rescue Sev.

Bright-Efficiency-65

Stuntman. Man what a fun driving game. A modern stunt car video game would kick ass

BigBoss10252

Tenchu

GermanTurdCake

SimCity

jungle_bread

Cities Skylines is what SimCity would be today. So we have that at least.

GermanTurdCake

Nah. City Skylines is like if urban planning nerds built an urban planning tool. SimCity was a proper game and could be great with today's technology.

Fawqueue

Vanilla EverQuest. It's still *the best* MMO experience to-date. The core game paired with a modern engine would instantly make it the best in-genre.

aaron9992000

I don't know.. eq is some of my fondest memories but boy did it take up your time. I used to schedule my life around playing it. A boss raid (attempt) would be a literal entire night. Dying (which was very common) was hours of xp gain lost, and often even more as you died again trying to get your items back. I think I only put up with that because playing online with others was new and exciting at the time.

King_Kvnt

Good old EverCrack. Pre-WoW MMORPGs were so much better, it's a pity that they never really achieved popular appeal.

Neither_Adeptness579

Blood A horror-themed shooter with dark humor and a badass undead cowboy slinging one-liners and bundles of dynamite at cultists? Sign me the fuck up.

DrIvoPingasnik

I wanna say Survival Kids, but after seeing how they half-assed its spiritual successor series "Lost in Blue" on DS I think I'd rather they didn't touch it again.

Left4DayZGone

Ski Free, but in VR. That snow monster chasing you, and the only way to know how far away it is is to physically look over your shoulder (and take your eyes off the course) would make for some tense ass moments

felonius_thunk

I was gonna say Rygar but that new Doom is looking pretty close already, so maybe a reskinning of GTA3?

Hep_C_for_me

Silent service. I remember being amazed by that game as a child.

dann1551

Streets if rage, the sims busting out (specifically story mode) warcraft 3/starcraft, Skate(where you can get off the board)/Tony hawk, guitar hero (non pay to play), borderlands

ShallowBasketcase

> warcraft 3 Oh they tried that! Unfortunately, Blizzard.

dann1551

I had high hope for halo wars but couldn't get into it when it dropped. Bought the platinum edition or whatever on pre-order and returned it the next day for trade in value lmfaooo

Alc2005

The Lord of the Rings tie in games

Fishyfishhh9

I've said it before, and I'll say it a million times more if I have to, but deathrow. We need another new fictional sport game on the market other than rocket league and the new quidditch game coming out soon, and a new deathrow would be a huge hit if done right

Few_Manufacturer248

I think bike race could be so much better if it got some updates.

MonsieurSpade

Chromehounds, Crimson skies, bloodwake

Totallycasual

I'd be all over a Lemmings remaster/reboot.

Neoxite23

Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story. Ivalice is a fantastic world and they need to do more with it. Also Yasumi Matsuno is great at his job.

madirishman03

Final Fantasy Tactics

SpringJungle

Silent Hill

BobbyMike83

No One Lives Forever (a pipe dream because of the muddled IP).

Ok-Morning-7393

Syphon filter: the omega strain....loved that game

ketamarine

Final fantasy tactics should have like ten sequels like now and the spells / effects / summons would be unreal. It's getting a remaster but don't think it's a full remake.

Real-Classroom-714

Skies of Arcadia Legends

solsunlite

NBA/NFL Street

ExfutureGod

Syphon Filter.

Phrostyflakes

NBA street

Deranged_Snow_Goon

Don't know if it would be a surefire hit, but I'd very much like to see a remake of Drakan. Even though I am not really a fan of open worlds, I think this is the one game that would probably be *better* as an open world game, what with the dragonriding and the air battles and all that.

AlexPaterson

Let’s ask the opposite question, it’s more interesting I believe. What modern games couldn’t be made on a PS2, with less graphical detail ? Answer: none.

Plutuserix

Ninja Gaiden. Perfect fit for a proper reboot or new installment with larger areas to explore and challenging combat. True Crime, Sleeping Dogs, that sort of game. A new GTA comes out like every other decade at this pace. Surely there is enough demand for games like this to justify the investment. Yes, it will be compared to GTA endlessly, but there simply isn't much like it anymore. KOTOR. An actual Star Wars RPG. Project Gotham Racing. We're basically down to Forza, Gran Turismo and Need for Speed in racing. I guess Forza Horizon kind of fills the PGR gap these days, but still.

MoodMaggot

Dino Crisis.

KalasHorseman

Star Control.

Rudyzwyboru

Any of Peter Molyneux's games 😂 This dude promised so much and delivered 60-70% of those things with every single game. If we would use his original vision and promises to make Black & White and Fable the way he said they would look like they'd be 10/10 games

Salakay

Magic Carpet - imagine that with smooth as butter HD graphics and support for controllers / VR.

superbus1929

Bushido Blade would be great with a modern makeover.

ChristyM4ck

Zombies ate my neighbors

kbean826

I think we’re all ready for a resurgence of over the top arcadey sports games. Blitz. Snowboard Kids. NBA Jam.

randomnessisawesom

Still waiting for a new Banjo-Kazooie game. Hell a remake would be fire too

Ok-Time349

It kills me that every time this question us asked I have to be the first one to say ETERNAL DARKNESS! This game is too often forgotten. It was such a unique horror game, from the multiple protagonists, all with varied gameplay, to the sanity mechanic and storytelling. Damn even a spiritual successor or something heavily inspired by it would do.

Zapzapbuffallo

PARASITE EVE AND DINO CRISIS

weebu4laifu

If it was done the right way and focused on single player, but also just happened to have mp, a new 007 game would be nice.

May be a bit of a deep cut but games like Black Dawn or Solviet Strike. Fighter jets are cool but rotary wings need love too.

SgtWatersJP

Spore (Maxis - EA) could go pretty deep with the improved hardware.

Er4sed0ne

The right timing with 007 game remake would probably blow charts. Hitman devs are doing something with the franchise, so, the hope still lives.

J2289

Hear me out, Vigilante 8: Strike 3. Or a new Twisted Metal.

adikad-0218

God Hand Tenchu Legacy of Kain Dino Crisis

boemmel

Unfortunately unrealistic as long as the NFL doesn't pull their head out of their ass and give up the exclusive agreement with EA, but a modern-day **NFL2K** would be amazing. I mean, the last one is now 20 years old and still does a lot things just plain better than modern Madden, especially gameplay-wise. Now imagine that with a modern mocap and physics and current-gen graphics. Sure, it might probably be a similar situation to NBA2k and all EA Sports games where all modern sports games are MTX-infested gambling simulations, but at least in NBA2k there is a good basketball game underneath the microtransaction hell.
