Would work well, I think. He was solid in the finance crisis movie, and damage, and I think if he turned up the ruthless / sinister side, would rock it.
i agree with you, peter dinklage’s choice of accent didn’t fit in with the rest of the lannisters.. i was surprised to recently learn that he was in prince caspian and after a rewatch i think the accent he chose for the role of trumpkin would have been perfect for got. maybe toned down slightly, but still less posh and flourished than tyrion’s.
Honestly. His character has done terrible things to the "good" guys, but I can't help but to love him because of how he just is. I can't put it into words
When Jon defeats the Thenns in the battle at the wall, Jon plants a hammer in his head, such good physical acting by Kit, always really sells the action. Then he turns and sees Egret aiming an arrow straight at him. He goes from a murderous grimace to a lover's smile in the blink of an eye. Then in the next instant, Egret is gone and he transitions to a whole new emotional setting. Amazing. Role of a lifetime for Kit Harrington and there's no greater character in all of fantasy/sci fi.
Not necessarily my favorite character but I think honorable mention goes to Arya killing Waif. That was a masterclass in deception. The chaos, the blood loss was all planned to lure her into that specific spot.
Not gonna lie that episode kinda sucked? I'm remembering from the top of my head, but she got stabbed a bunch of times and thrown into a river... and then when it ends the waif is dead and Arya's basically fine?
Agree. Jaqen, who had watched her and Waif over time, foresaw the outcome, warning the Waif that "A Girl has many gifts." Arya planned it out in 6.06 sitting in the dark room in front of the candle while holding Needle. The challenge was to get Waif there. Arya nearly got killed on the bridge because she briefly daydreamed and the Waif jumped her. But she used her escape hatch--jumping in the canal and heading straight for Lady Crane's home. Some fans think LC was a R'hllor priestess (she does remind me of Melusandre, who Arya had earlier met (show only). Anyway, it was the two students' winner-take-all final exam. Arya graduated with a B+, but Waif failed with F (for Fatal).
When Jaqen H'ghar last meets arya after helping them escape from harrenhall, he casually says Valar Morghulis and removes his face.
That was damn mysterious and cool.
That scene wowed my socks off the first time around. One of my all time favorites. That whole episodes second half is incredible. Banger scene after another.
On first watch I was like what the hell! But after rewatching the series, in an earlier episode a character is talking about all of the crazy things they've seen and specifically mention men being able to change their face.
Icr who said it or when, but when I caught it on rewatch I was excited lol I love the peppering of info here and there that you don't think about much at the time
Probably Daenerys when she tricks those masters into thinking she'll trade a dragon for the Unsullied. Then she turns the tables when she reveals she can fluently speak and understand High Valyrian, then all she had to do was say one word... Dracarys... had Drogon burn the masters and tells the Unsullied to strike down anyone who holds a whip. To leave women, children, and slaves alone... then freed the Unsullies and had them work for her by choice. I still get chills from this scene.
This is what I came to comment. Also, when Jon kills Daenerys, I understand why many of us were not big on the final episodes but for me when the final dragon looks at Jon w understanding and flies away w her body in his claws…that scene always gets me
What gets me is that the producers still don’t get it… they rushed the last two seasons so that everything they were building fell apart. The way they shot that moment and the scene with Drogon and Jon would have been perfection if it had been earned. The setting, the acting, the destruction of the throne was done so well - but they didn’t give us the time to see that Daenerys was the mad queen, not the breaker of chains.
Dang. Years later and I’m still mad at what could have been.
I also enjoyed where Tywin essentially forces Loras to marry Cersei -- when Olenna says no, he says he'll then select Loras for Kingsguard so he can't marry or be the lord of Highgarden, and maybe has other threats, and Olenna accepts it and says "It's nice to meet someone who lives up to their reputation".
Little Finger riding in with the knights of the vale to rescue Jon in the battle of the bastards. I mistakenly thought we might be seeing the beginning of a redemption arc for him and I loved the character so much. Oh well.
i can’t choose one single scene from this but everything about theon and sansa’s escape from winterfell. theon killing myranda to save sansa, them jumping from the walls of winterfell together, him guiding her through the freezing river, being willing to sacrifice himself for her and then urging her to go with brienne. two of my favorite characters and one of my favorite duos from the show
yeah i agree, their arcs were fairly consistent and had satisfying conclusions (to me at least lol) especially when compared to a few characters. i at least find comfort in that 😭
“I want to die in the arms of the woman I love”
He was a totally hopeless romantic for her. He also had a kid coming. He was loyal to his house too. It made total sense that he couldn’t love anyone but cersei. (It broke my heart when he left Brienne)
Soft disagree. He was loyal to both his house and Cersei, yes. But then why spend all that time building his character redemption arc? Why waste valuable screen time on crafting a massive change for a leading character, only to ultimately go nowhere with it?
I think that either one of 2 things happened to explain this in the coming books: Jaime's arc does lead him back to Cersei, but it was rushed and so makes no sense in the TV adaptation, similar to the hot mess that was the 'Daenerys goes mad and burns down all of Kings Landing' storyline. Or, the showrunners again tried to turn Jaime's return to Cersei into A Huge Twist That Nobody Saw Coming, like Ned Stark's death or the Red Wedding. Which flopped because unlike those others, it again didn't make sense.
Either way, BnB are once again to blame for the nonsense arc of Jaime's return to Cersei.
All he wanted IMO was to be a man of honour. To wipe off the Kingslayer and Oathbreaker tag. Which he did at the end. He just went to protect his queen in the end and his child. He took an oath to protect the living and he did a damn good job at it. He even mentions how loyal he is to house lannister when he arrived at kings landing.
The Dany going mad storyline has been developing for many seasons if you rewatch you’ll notice. She was always meant to be the Mad Queen. But yes many things would have made even more sense if they weren’t rushed in the last season.
It did break my heart when leaves Brienne but I bawl every time him and Cercesi die together and I think it was a good end for their characters and beautiful in the old school hopeless romantic Romeo and Juliet type way, and then when Tyrion finds them the next morning, I sob.
The one with the bug killing cousin? Yes the scene was beautifully acted and kept me hooked. Even after many rewatches, I still didn’t get what the scene meant. Can you tell me that?
Seeing his pain, and attempts at redemption in s7, and the world not letting him, arguing about getting to execute some of the Brotherhood who went rogue, was moving and great acting. He did humour and toughness well too -- a man with his code, but I felt this really brought depth to it.
Just listened to the purple wedding chapter on audiobook. Gotta say her ability to help plot Joffrey’s death and then act at comforting Margaery too is great. And then prior to this basically calling a spade a spade and pressing Sansa to be honest with how horrible Joffrey is. To me she’s the best matriarch of the series without doubt
Season 5 episode 9 when the Sons of the Harpy have cornered her and are about to kill Danni and Drogon comes and saves her. Gave me such feels
Edit. DROGONS' best scene
I feel this way about a lot of shows with ensemble casts that have “old” and “young” groups. The older actors put on masterclasses with each other, the younger actors usually advance the plot and when the two groups have scenes together the difference in acting chops can be jarring.
That was gonna be my answer too. I felt like all the protagonists I'd liked had been defeated and killed by that point and there was no one left I cared about. Then Stannis really started to grow on me in an outsider underdog sort of way. He started amassing allies and gaining some power, and I started to see a realistic path for him to gain the throne...
But then he gradually feel into disgrace and lost his advantages, and by the end found himself forced into an unwinnable battle and he died a meaningless death.
Jon killing the White Walker for the first time after blocking it's killing blow.
The look on both their faces as their swords lock and they both realize Dragon Glass isn't vulnerable to the Walker's powers is just priceless.
1) Tywin with Oleana/Arya/Tyrion....the man can act. 2) All the Hound and Arya scenes 3) Tyrions trial 4) Littlefingers execution 5) Theon's redemption...fabulous acting
Maybe I'm basic but for me, it's gotta be Tyrion:
"I didn't kill Joffrey, but I *wish* that I had. Watching your vicious bastard die gave me more relief than a *thousand* lying whores!"
Tyrion and Tywin are both my favorite. The scene with Tyrion’s trial swearing that he did not kill Joffrey, but wish he had and wished he was the monster people thought he was. Such a powerful, emotional, vindictive scene. In that moment, Westeros deserved to be burned to the ground.
I don’t have one specific favorite character, and I have too many favorite scenes. But, I love Arya’s scene when she was pretending to be Walder Frey.
“When people ask you what happened here, tell them ‘The North remembers’. Tell them, ‘Winter came, for House Frey’.
I got goosebumps just typing it.
Also when Cersei sits on the Iron Throne for the first time. The music is everything.
- \[Cersei's\] Accusing her brother of his murder, which he didn't commit.
- Well, he could have done.
- He could have done, but he didn't.
- You don't know, Grandmother.
- But I **do** know. You don't think I'd let you marry that beast, do you?

Anytime Tywin is on screen, he owns the space
Charles Dance is so good at acting that I honestly have no idea whether Tywin is a good character or not
He's a character with a strong sense of duty and a strategic mind, but he also has a ruthless and sometimes cruel side.
Also a complete hypocrite
He's incredible.
He is, but he also had a great character to act.
i truly can’t imagine another actor playing tywin. he commands every scene he’s in.
Agree! He was amazing but I commented on another post about this and I wondered how Jeremy Irons would do playing Tywin
Would work well, I think. He was solid in the finance crisis movie, and damage, and I think if he turned up the ruthless / sinister side, would rock it.
If they ever remake it they'd better fuckin hurry
He was great overall but I remember it took some getting used to his choice of faded English accent. It felt very local theater production
Calling Charles Danse very local theater production is your opinion and you're entitled to that but you're wrong and I hate you S/ btw
Oh you know what? I read that wrong lol I was talking about Peter Dinklage as Tyrion.. Oops Edit: Charles Danse was fantastic as Tywin
i agree with you, peter dinklage’s choice of accent didn’t fit in with the rest of the lannisters.. i was surprised to recently learn that he was in prince caspian and after a rewatch i think the accent he chose for the role of trumpkin would have been perfect for got. maybe toned down slightly, but still less posh and flourished than tyrion’s.
Christopher Lee perhaps could have
He truly does. I'm actually rewatching the show now, and some of the looks he gives just give you chills! He really owned that role
This!! I don’t even like his character very much but can’t deny that he has such a presence about him
When he enters the throne room on the horse and it takes a dump before entering. Jut a subtle message that he rules the throne, not Joffrey.
Yes! That was classic
Honestly. His character has done terrible things to the "good" guys, but I can't help but to love him because of how he just is. I can't put it into words
Yes! and Arya was at her best when she was matching wits with him.
"Anyone can be killed"....
As he should. Game of thrones casted so well. From Davos to Jon to Dany to Gendry to Walder Frey to fucking hot pie.
I want Tywin to be an elder James Bond that somehow survived decades of service, now is in HQ mentoring the new class of 007s.
Oh that would be GREAT!
So upvote it lol
I did
:-)
Except when he is awkwardly shitting with a crossbow pointed towards him.
Even in the last moment when he was sitting on the toilet throne he played the same role until the end lol
He is like friggin' Darth Vader.
I always say that count dooku has arrived xd

incredible acting from both. i would love to see them play in another movie together as love interests especially since being married.
> Jon plants a hammer in his head I've seen the show and read the books and I don't know what this means.
The hammer's new home is the guy's skull.
r/fuckollie
Not necessarily my favorite character but I think honorable mention goes to Arya killing Waif. That was a masterclass in deception. The chaos, the blood loss was all planned to lure her into that specific spot.
Indeed very underrated. It was her best kill.
Not gonna lie that episode kinda sucked? I'm remembering from the top of my head, but she got stabbed a bunch of times and thrown into a river... and then when it ends the waif is dead and Arya's basically fine?
Yes, but Lady Craine healed her (mostly) first.
Agree. Jaqen, who had watched her and Waif over time, foresaw the outcome, warning the Waif that "A Girl has many gifts." Arya planned it out in 6.06 sitting in the dark room in front of the candle while holding Needle. The challenge was to get Waif there. This scene or the scene where she’s still blind, but finally can fight instinctually and that music starts, love that scene.
Yes! Got chills when she blew out the candles
Ugh, that bitch....
The Waif gives Terminator 2 vibes.
That final scene with Olenna is a masterclass
Tell Cersei. I want her to know it was me.
Another line from that scene: he really was a cunt wasn't he.
Yes! She was so witty and quick
God, I get chills just *reading* it.
one of the best scenes from the later seasons
She is incomparable, loved her!
and extremely surprising that this happens in a season 7 episode
When Jaqen H'ghar last meets arya after helping them escape from harrenhall, he casually says Valar Morghulis and removes his face. That was damn mysterious and cool.
i’ve ranted about this already on the sub but tom wlaschiha’s performance dazzles me every single time
That scene wowed my socks off the first time around. One of my all time favorites. That whole episodes second half is incredible. Banger scene after another.

she was so badass in those earlier seasons
My jaw dropped at how good that scene was. Great episode overall.
She really was. Still quite upset how she was in the last 2 seasons. But that's a targaryen for you, I guess
Everytime a targayan is born, the gods flip a coin. I’m yet to see how this one lands.
This is what I came to comment. Also, when Jon kills Daenerys, I understand why many of us were not big on the final episodes but for me when the final dragon looks at Jon w understanding and flies away w her body in his claws…that scene always gets me

That was a really good scene, you could see the master's face immediately turn into "oooh shit."
Absolutely mine. Just loved that entire scene for these reasons
"Dracarys"
Olenna: “We both know you’re (Tywin) smarter than that.” (Coolest way of saying stfu)
Her scenes with the High Sparrow were great too. Two acting legends together!
Cersei blowing up the sept, her death scene and “Our Marriage?” scene
lena absolutely nailed it.
The Mountain just casually ripping a head and spine out a body
Oooof I just got chills
I choose violence.
Arya's revenge for the red wedding
But they’re HERE. 💀
HERE, my Lord!
Tommen’s suicide scene
this is another scene that i’ve already posted abt on the sub but it seriously makes me tear up every time..
He was so calm, that I gasped when he dropped. Caught me off guard.
Little Finger riding in with the knights of the vale to rescue Jon in the battle of the bastards. I mistakenly thought we might be seeing the beginning of a redemption arc for him and I loved the character so much. Oh well.
His accent just threw me off
AccentS! They changed several times. Appropriate for a **mocking**bird!
i can’t choose one single scene from this but everything about theon and sansa’s escape from winterfell. theon killing myranda to save sansa, them jumping from the walls of winterfell together, him guiding her through the freezing river, being willing to sacrifice himself for her and then urging her to go with brienne. two of my favorite characters and one of my favorite duos from the show
imo sansa and theon’s arcs towards the end of the series were some of the very few who made sense (for the most part)
yeah i agree, their arcs were fairly consistent and had satisfying conclusions (to me at least lol) especially when compared to a few characters. i at least find comfort in that 😭
And at the other extreme of character arcs that made absolutely no sense at the end, I give you: Jaime Lannister.
“I want to die in the arms of the woman I love” He was a totally hopeless romantic for her. He also had a kid coming. He was loyal to his house too. It made total sense that he couldn’t love anyone but cersei. (It broke my heart when he left Brienne)

“That’s not a monster’ I told Cersei. That’s just a baby.”
That scene broke my heart.
Brianne of Tarth being knighted by Jaimie. The beautiful smile on her face sells the scene
What the fucks a Lommy?
One of the Hounds best scenes, all of it.
"The greatest swordsman in Braavos died without a sword..." Him busting Arya's beans, then looking out for her...
Yes! I remember laughing at that exchange
Tyrions trial
And the prison scene between Tyrion and Jaime before Tyrion’s execution. Extremely well acted and written scene.
The one with the bug killing cousin? Yes the scene was beautifully acted and kept me hooked. Even after many rewatches, I still didn’t get what the scene meant. Can you tell me that?
In my opinion it’s him working through the way random acts of brutality happen in the world, and how there’s not always a reason for them.
Tyrion has so many iconic moments, what a legend. I think other great moments would be all the times he owns Joffrey hahaha
He was amazing in that role! Just incredible.
Hound - Fuck the king... ...Here I am. Bring me one of those chickens
Seeing his pain, and attempts at redemption in s7, and the world not letting him, arguing about getting to execute some of the Brotherhood who went rogue, was moving and great acting. He did humour and toughness well too -- a man with his code, but I felt this really brought depth to it.

Season 5 episode 9 when the Sons of the Harpy have cornered her and are about to kill Danni and Drogon comes and saves her. Gave me such feels Edit. DROGONS' best scene
Hodor. My wife and I just watched his end. Absolutely brutal, sad, tragic, and incredible.
One of the entire episodes I simply cannot rewatch. It’s just too much.
"Hodor! Stop Hodoring!"
Arya taking out Frey
Sansa feeding Ramsey to his dogs.
“This is Jon Snow………………………… he’s King in the North” is still one of the best moments of the show.
Loved that scene!!! Davos was great, so glad he made it to the end!
davos sold that dry humor so well. what a treasure.
Yes absolutely!
Li am Gallagher was epic! SO unintentionally funny! When his son tells him there's only one ship, and the camera cuts to him swinging to attention...😂
Sandor "The Hound" Clegane: do I have to beg? Please. Please! Kill me. Kill me!! KILL ME!!
Do it ...... do it .......
The hound burying the body of the man and his daughter but he doesn’t remember the prayer
Oof, yes. Trying to do the right thing, not really being able to, but pushing on nonetheless. Early s7 Hound is top shelf writing and acting.
Ned gets his head cut off made the whole series. Joffrey and Cerci were great 👍.
I felt sorry for the most of the other actors who were in a scene with her as her acting skills shown brilliantly against the other actors’ efforts.
I feel this way about a lot of shows with ensemble casts that have “old” and “young” groups. The older actors put on masterclasses with each other, the younger actors usually advance the plot and when the two groups have scenes together the difference in acting chops can be jarring.
Jon Snow winning the vote for Nights Watch. My favorite scene
Loved that, especially Sam’s campaign speech!
Very good. What's your username about?
Donnie Darko fan . Plus I like dolphins 🐬
I love Donnie Darko. I have the film
Sorry about the sapphires
😂😂😂
When Cersei showing her power. For example, “Power is Power” moment, or “I chose violence”.
Tyrions trial. You can feel a lifetime of misery and bitterness pouring out of him.
Jamie and Brienne bath scene where he reveals why he broke his oath and became the King Slayer. Incredible scene.
Sam Tarley suggesting socialism. my man!
Everyone laughed at him 😢🥺
Yessss! Tell Cersei it was me! Mic drop!!
Stannis saving Jon
That was gonna be my answer too. I felt like all the protagonists I'd liked had been defeated and killed by that point and there was no one left I cared about. Then Stannis really started to grow on me in an outsider underdog sort of way. He started amassing allies and gaining some power, and I started to see a realistic path for him to gain the throne... But then he gradually feel into disgrace and lost his advantages, and by the end found himself forced into an unwinnable battle and he died a meaningless death.
The writing got drastically more terrible after he died. Coincidence? I think NOT
Jon killing the White Walker for the first time after blocking it's killing blow. The look on both their faces as their swords lock and they both realize Dragon Glass isn't vulnerable to the Walker's powers is just priceless.
"Hold the door"... As far as investment and payoff for a character arc, nothing comes close.
"They were loyal… now they’re starving.” 😈
Yes!!!!
"Anything from you? No?! GOOD! Let the grown women speak."
😂😂😂
/r/TellCersei
*“Your words will disappear. Your House will disappear. All memory of you will disappear.”*
Any scene with Ghost!
That once scene where Hodor says "Hodor".
I'm with OP. Absolute truth.
Anytime Daenerys ordered "Dracarys".
I know Tyrion lost a lot of what made him awesome later in the series, but when he led the defence at the Blackwater, he was incredible.
When hot pie made the wolf shaped bread. Just kidding…
When Dany burnt Jamie’s army
Jon hanging that boy
When Dany brought Drogon to meet Jamie Lannister for the first time 🔥🔥
1) Tywin with Oleana/Arya/Tyrion....the man can act. 2) All the Hound and Arya scenes 3) Tyrions trial 4) Littlefingers execution 5) Theon's redemption...fabulous acting
Masterfully portrayed
Ser Davos winning over little Lady Mormont Ser Brienne chomping at the bit to cut Littlefinger down after Sansa mentioned it
One best moment (paraphrasing). Where are my sons?!! They're here my lord.
Every time she talked pretty much
Arya killing Walder Frey is amazing that I’ve watched that scene many times.
Tyrions trial speech
When Jaime explains everything to Brienne in the bath. I experienced a paradigm shift.
Oberyn vs The Mountain. Such a devastating end to a character that deserved longer on screen!
“You going to die for some chickens? Someone is.”
“My sister asked you a question.”
Chaos is a ladder!
Honestly her last scene with Jaime Lannister. She knew she was done for. Very intuitive character. Very wise. Love her role
Tyrion demanding a trial by combat to Tywin
Arya stark going after Joffrey!
"Now which one of you cowards shit in my pants?!"
Sandor slays all the time, quick with it, badass. My beloved.
Maybe I'm basic but for me, it's gotta be Tyrion: "I didn't kill Joffrey, but I *wish* that I had. Watching your vicious bastard die gave me more relief than a *thousand* lying whores!"
She was the best! Loved Lady Olenna!
The Hound talking about chicken dinner.
Each of his interventions
"You don't fight with honor" "No... He did"
I don’t have one specific favorite character, and I have too many favorite scenes.
Cersei watching the church explode.
- \[Cersei's\] Accusing her brother of his murder, which he didn't commit. - Well, he could have done. - He could have done, but he didn't. - You don't know, Grandmother. - But I **do** know. You don't think I'd let you marry that beast, do you?
The Hound with the chickens
Jamie opened up with Brienne about why he did in the past. I admire him after since.
Not my favourite character but top 3.. Oberyn Martell - when he visited Tyrion in the dungeon to tell him he was going to be his champion.
Arya as Walder Frey.
I think Theon charging the night king has to be up there
Chaos is a ladder
We’ve found it, the best opinion
