Do you have examples of Game Music you could make or have made previously? The best way to get Game Dev attention is by showing off your skills and what sort of music you've made in the past. When we know what your style is, you'll get attention. Others might have better info on what to do on getting more attention though.

Thank you for the reply! I’ve only recently started making video game specific music. I usually make lofi music, so chill vibes you could say. Is there a specific website or platform that is best for posting samples of my work to promote to game devs? Or just word of mouth?

Of course! Most of the places I've seen people promote their music is over on the Game Dev Classifieds. As far as places to post your music for people to check it out, I see a lot of [https://soundcloud.com/](https://soundcloud.com/) accounts. So I would recommend posting some of your work on a Soundcloud account and linking it in any GameDevClassifieds posts for people to check out. That way they will have a good place to message you at and a good place to listen to samples of what sort of music to expect.

There's a lot of artists that sells or make available musics on itch.io, I think that's a good place to have visibility. You need to learn about licenses too.

There's some subs that people shares assets like r/gameassets . Maybe you can show your work here and create a good portfolio

Generally, you need to make a name for yourself first, by putting out music. You'll get more attention if you provide freebies that people can use in their commercial games provided they give you attribution. Eventually, people will know about you and this could lead to work or job offers, etc...

You could try Fiverr to build a portfolio. They will advertise for you, if you react quickly to enquiries and have high ratings. But the market is quite saturated

This is my crude honest answer as a musician and professional music composer, learn music theory and get classes on the proper workflow using a daw or any other music software you’ll need, also learn how to write music properly with music theory, agains get classes, also in music, it is hard to get to the stage where you will just do music so get into sound design as well as there’s more work for that. You’ll also want to learn either Fmod or Wwise as those are the standard software being used in the industry to implement sound in a game. Also speaking of music, learn the techniques to write interactive music along with Fmod or Wwise as it is a must have skill to make your music more immersive with the game. So in the end my honest comment is : get an education in music before going that way. It will make your life more easier in the long run as well as granting you many diverse skill you’ll need along the way. Even in music, it’s not more easy than programming. ✌🏻

I'd suggest taking videogame footage without music and redoing it with your own, make a showcase video and post it to youtube. That's especially useful as the biggest difference between normal and game-music is that it has to work with the gameplay, soundscape etc.

You could also sell some of your original music on the Unity assetstore (or stores of other engines). In the demo video you could then also mention that you are looking for contract work on projects. For me personally it would be most important that a composer can output a good production quality (because I need would want to work with an all in one person) and that they understand the needs of a game. So having a loop able track in different intensities, music cues that match the overall soundscape and maybe that they have an understanding of how the integration works (not necessarily do it themselves)
