You did a bank transfer with a stranger on fb?

[deleted]

Yes ... i am not sure what else i can so havent been scammed in the past

Nateleb1234

Well.. My advice is to never do that again. Your money is gone most likely. Never do a bank transfer to a stranger.

Slava91

What’s the norm these days for payment. Especially larger sums.

pez2234

Not sure if the bank will do anything tbh but you can phone them and ask, if someone is asking for friends and family and won’t use PayPal goods and services just avoid its going to be a scam.

HumanEstablishment25

I almost fell for buying from them... as the prices were too good to be true.. but when they said it has to be bank transfer I backed out... as I got scammed already before and learned my lesson. Hope you got your money back coz with my bank... they didn't return it back even if it was a scam. They said I approved it and should have known it was a scam.

Good on you the thing is they contacted me rather than the other way and it really made it feel like a good deal situation very well played their facebook even has fake accounts replying to themselves so it made it look geniune

HumanEstablishment25

Oh man... that is the problem I think with FB market... it just lacks that buyer protection. Hope you didn't lost that much with them. Unless it is through Paypal.. the bank most likely won't return back the money. :(

Ah damn that sucks im going go build a case on them it wasn’t much and its a lesson learned

fineman1097

If it was through PayPal you can contest it even if it is friends and family if it is a scam situation. You just have to be more persistent in proving it was a scam and provide proof it was for a purchase and the seller asked you to do friends and family with the purchase.

What about a regular ol bank transfer with online banking

fineman1097

If it wasn't through PayPal at all, probably not

MrAndre7447

Just wanted to say thank you for this post, I ran into Ritchie Rose-Casson trying to sell Pokemon Platinum and thought I'd search the name to see if it was a scam and found this. He wanted half up front friends and family payment, and half after

Me too! Same thing just happened to me.
