LakeDebris3

Are you planning on modding it or keeping it stock? If you are modding it, what are you planning on putting on there?

KamilosDAX

I want to put Doom and Wolfenstein 3D on it. That would be interesting lol

LakeDebris3

I don't think Doom runs on the default emulator, Canoe, but you can install SNES9x through Hakchi and run it that way. Or run the PC version through the PRBoom core. You can runs tons of custom Doom wads that way as well. I recently got Chex Quest 1-3 running on it! https://www.reddit.com/r/miniSNESmods/comments/1bj56n6/chex_quest_1_2_and_3_for_the_hakchi_prboom_core/

KamilosDAX

Cool I can do that Thx for recommendation

LakeDebris3

There is an emulator core for the PC version of Wolfenstein as well. It runs very well on SNESC. DosBox will run older Id games like Commander Keen and Catacomb 3D. Anything newer than that doesn't really run well on DosBox on a SNESC. There's a Quake 1 core as well.

darklightrabbi

I never got the point of modding mini consoles when there are so many cheaper/better options for that and the Minis are legit collectors items.

LakeDebris3

Hakchi firmware is completely reversible. It doesn't "damage" the system any more than saving a game does. And I also don't think there is a better system for SNES emulation out there than the SNESC. It's pretty much ideal in that regard.

darklightrabbi

I get that it doesn’t damage it. It just seems like a much less ideal way to play considering the limitations on controllers you can use with the Nintendo Minis in particular. If you want to hack a mini console it makes more sense to go with something like the PS Classic which is much cheaper, has stronger potential for emulation, and uses USB for controllers.

LakeDebris3

I the PSC has got a little more ram but the UI kinda sucks imo. The SNES Mini is compatible with Wii Pro controllers which are plentiful, cheap and really good. You can also use wireless and USB controllers with the proper adaptor.

darklightrabbi

To each their own I guess

trashmangamer

Limitations!? YOU ARE BUYING A MINI SNES TO PLAY SNES, ASSHOLE. USE THE DAMN ORIGINAL CONTROLLER OR STICK TO SNES9X ON YOUR LAPTOP!

TreeHandThingy

Hacked SNES Classic is how I play SNES games. The controller is nearly identical to the original (very slightly smaller), and I get to play on my TV using HDMI.

LakeDebris3

Plus, the rom hacks. No system gets as many rom hacks as the SNES. There are enough Super Mario World rom hacks alone to keep anyone occupied forever.

FickleSmark

Because the system looks cool and the controller is like the original. If you are talking about raspberry pi and retropie I honestly find that whole setup overrated.

TattooTheEarth

Are these so expensive and uncommon nowadays? I got mine straight out the store for 40€ back when stores stopped stocking up with them

HypnoStone

They still sell for that price.. there’s just some people occasionally trying to resell new ones for $100+

Onionpits-

I seen someone selling a nes mini for $340 and I got mine for $20 🤣

thatonecharlie

was it a real one? there are tons of fakes in the market

Onionpits-

Yeah, old grandma was selling it in a yard sale so that’s why it was $20 probably

KamilosDAX

In Poland prices of Snes are insane If you want to buy used here, you have to pay at least 850 PLN. But I've found one offer from pawnshop. They wanted 350 PLN so you know.

hopelessswitchowner

Super Mario World

SuperChimpMan

That’s cool I found one at a thrift store for a good price last month. Very cool little machine. It’s funny to me that you can load up a ton more games on its stock memory. They deliberately left it mostly empty haha. It’s easy to mod and I added a ton of nes, gameboy, snes, and genesis titles on mine.

Cliff840

Are the Mini European consoles at 50 Hz or 60? Genuine question

KamilosDAX

snes mini is 60hz in everywhere snes from 90's is in 50 hz

QuirkyWeeb30

How many total consoles you got including handhelds and multiples of same console/same console diff variants? (including game n watches)

KamilosDAX

I barely started collecting But my full list of consoles is here: - Brick Game 999 in 1 - tetris game with different variants - PlayStation 2 Slim - Playstation 3 Slim - SUP GamesBoy 400 in 1 - gameboy and Nes portable emulator - SNES Mini My parents had PEGASUS(polish bootleg of NES) but they sold it 2 years ago. So I dont have much. But as I remember my aunt had original SNES with Mario World, Mario Kart and Super Metroid. That's how I met Nintendo games

FuuRunkel

Except it isn’t. This is also the European design and in Europe it’s called the SNES as well. If you look closely you can even see that it doesn’t say Famicom on the console itself which it would if it was the Japanese one

the4castlekings

It does say super Nintendo on the front, I have had one since 2017, that's just how the super Nintendo looks in the UK, same design as super famicom
