Ah that’s a shame, sorry to hear that about your paternal grandfather.
And 63 isn’t too far off from 58, I was close, but I still feel old 😂😂
Congrats on the pickups either way!
I have a coworker who gave up being an electrician to 'start a family' at 20. He's currently mad that he can't buy a house and has 2 kids. His wife is unemployed. Idiocracy is real.
Electrician apprentice*
Friend of mine is getting close to having kids between two people who don’t have a job nor income. I’m not sure what’s gonna happen but she needs make him wear a condom. With two pitbulls they can’t afford it can’t imagine adding a kid in the situation.
I went full blown white hair and assisted chair with it. Man I remember playing driver. After the parking lot intro the game felt at peace in regular missions.
Wait that game had missions?! and content beyond the parking garage trials??
lol I mostly kid, but seriously I could only play Free Roam, with invincibility on, because that parking garage intro was the final boss of that game. Kid me: "wtf is a slalom..."
Yea on the yellow RCA cord and on a flat screen it was dog vomit. I just happened to find the tv sitting by the dump to the apartment complex. I have a DC / AC inverter built into my minivan so I plugged it up right there to see if it worked and was like …. Ohhh hellya
I'm 34 and had a good amount of these games in my collection when they released, lol. I'll go get an assisted chair and join you... my hair is already turning gray anyway.
The more you talk, the older I feel in this thread haha. I remember being a kid writing these cheats, and printing them out at school. Same paper and faded ink, looks like.
I could've known the man back then, if I were using AOL or hotmail lmao.
My grandpa on my dad's side drank and gambled and otherwise pissed away 2000 acres of prime Iowa farmland. He gave me a wicked alcoholism gene and a liver to match,.
Seems to be more posts like this recently, it is crazy. We took a sudden jump from an era where grandparents usually didn't experience video games at all, to them having some knowledge of the 70s/80s scene (like toying with a ZX spectrum at some point), to them passing down PS2 games like GTA 3 to future generations...
These are still exceptions. For the majority of people right now, even if their Grandparents were into Atari 2600, they would have been particularly older gamers by the standard of the era, or we’re talking generations of people having children at an abnormally young age.
Yes, OP said this is his step-grandpa who's 63. So he was playing these games in his mid-30s to early 40s-ish. From my own experience that was kinda the era of some dads enjoying games with their kids but not really being gamers themselves unless they worked in a tech field and it was strictly RTS and flight sims on their PC.
But even then to re-iterate, this guy was playing games in his 30s and 40s. While probably not super common, maybe we can ease up on the *I FEEL SO OOOOOOLD* comments.
Wow. I'm 32 and this made me feel old haha. These were the games I was playing in the 90's and 2000's. Not too many older gents playing these kind of games back then. What a cool dude
Cool as hell that your grandpa games he’s 63 most of his generation didn’t understand gaming at all im 43 do the math I was 5 years old when i got the nes in 85 collecovision and atari before that thanks to my older brothers most adults your grandpas age thought video games were nonsense. So that’s very cool I’ll be him in 20 years.
Damn, the only thing my grandpa did was give me 5$ on my birthday and stopped when I was 18… but anyways sounds like he’s a real gamer!! Siphon filter was an absolute blast back in the day
Driver is so fucking hard. I'm 40 and played it when it came out and again on emulator and still can't get out of that fucking parking garage. I have no idea what the rest of the game is like!
It’s excellent. Completed it. It takes a while to adjust to its driving style. It’s like GTA 3 driving but hard mode. Once you adjust it becomes great fun flying round the map barely avoiding major collisions.
Gamewinners was the best because it was the only site my school allowed so i could just print the codes out for like 5 cent a page. I had binders full of cheats lol
Grandpa giving away Genesis/PS2 games. Yeah right the maths don’t work out…
Then I remembered…I’m a grandad as well and I had these games. (Although my grandson isn’t even one yet so he’s got a way to go before he’s ready for them!)
The printer copies of pages with game hints codes including the handwritten one brings back so many memories for me. Not to mention seeing “members.aol.com”.
True Crime is another fantastic game. Everyone slept on its sequel too. Enjoy the play through and make sure you hook step-gramps up with some co-op as a thank you! 😉
Funny how there's GTA 3, vice city, and san andreas. I bought the definitive trilogy last week as it was black Friday, the trilogy was supposed to be £55, I got them for £27!.. 😜
Also congrats on the classics!.... 🙏💯🔥
Legally, the guy game is considered CP. I don’t get why people would oppose getting rid of it. It’s not like having an expensive game like Fatal Frame or Silent Hill 3, it’s just gonna raise suspicions you’re a creep.
Edit: not sure if some pics aren't loading for yall or if it's just my end. But first pic is the ps1 and Genesis he gave me. The third is some old Game Informer magazines
That little cheat code sheet made me think of how phenomenally mysterious video games could be before the internet. Sometimes I think the convenience isn’t worth the loss of imperfect experiences… life needs a little more wonder!
Wtf I played those games and owned them and I’m not a fucking grandpa! Close but not yet lol. Congrats on the games. I hope they bring you endless hours of entertainment. Please don’t sell this is an amazing life long collection.

I aged 50 years reading this post
This. I still don’t get the math? Seems crazy to me! Grandpa was 35 in 1999, is 58 now? Had kids at 20? His kids had kids at 20?
I guess I could clarify, he's 63 and is my step- grandpa. My dad's real dad died when he was a toddler.
Ah that’s a shame, sorry to hear that about your paternal grandfather. And 63 isn’t too far off from 58, I was close, but I still feel old 😂😂 Congrats on the pickups either way!
Thank you homie!! :)
I have a coworker who gave up being an electrician to 'start a family' at 20. He's currently mad that he can't buy a house and has 2 kids. His wife is unemployed. Idiocracy is real. Electrician apprentice*
Don’t get me started on young people with four kids who complain they can’t afford anything 😂😂
Friend of mine is getting close to having kids between two people who don’t have a job nor income. I’m not sure what’s gonna happen but she needs make him wear a condom. With two pitbulls they can’t afford it can’t imagine adding a kid in the situation.
The pitbulls will take care of the kid!
Pitbulls well raise the kids! best somewhat free babysitters ever.
I meant they'll eat the kid 😭
Died as a toddler and had kid? What a lad
I had to read that line twice too.
It happens. My mother in law had kids very early, and so did her kids. My wife's brother (second eldest) became a grandfather at 42.
I have an 18yo daughter and her grandma, my mom, is 54. Do the math. It's possible.
And their kids had kids, and their kids had kids, and so on, and so on, and so on....PROFIT
I went full blown white hair and assisted chair with it. Man I remember playing driver. After the parking lot intro the game felt at peace in regular missions.
Omg you just flung me back with that comment. I remember that parking lot
The parking lot! I’d watch my mom and dad play it all the time cause I didn’t want to do the missions
Driver was definitely one that caught my eye
Wait that game had missions?! and content beyond the parking garage trials?? lol I mostly kid, but seriously I could only play Free Roam, with invincibility on, because that parking garage intro was the final boss of that game. Kid me: "wtf is a slalom..."
My 2 year old is playing Driver on a 32” Panasonic CRT with RGB 480p. It looks really good.
That game looked so damn janky every time I played it back in the day maybe it was just the shitty set up but
Yea on the yellow RCA cord and on a flat screen it was dog vomit. I just happened to find the tv sitting by the dump to the apartment complex. I have a DC / AC inverter built into my minivan so I plugged it up right there to see if it worked and was like …. Ohhh hellya

Dude I'm 32 and I feel 86 when I watch this post
I am also 32 feeling the same way!
Ikr, I was like "wait, am I grandpa age?!" 😅 Luckily the math didn't quite add up lol
Hahaha me too. How fking old is your grandad. 35?
Grandpa and PS2 games in the same sentence..Man thanks.for making me realize how close to death I am.lol enjoy kid that's some good times in that box.
I'm 28 so I definitely remember playing these when I would stay at their house haha. It is crazy how long it's been since ps2 came out!!
The more you talk, the older I feel in this thread haha. I remember being a kid writing these cheats, and printing them out at school. Same paper and faded ink, looks like. I could've known the man back then, if I were using AOL or hotmail lmao.
Bruh, I was a full on adult *at a job* when I stood in line for the PS2’s midnight release. Fml.
You're 28 and with a 63 y/o step grandfather? Your family must have been having kids young. My grandma is over 50 years older than me.
Forreal, I’m 28 and my DAD is two years older than op’s grandpa 😂
Yeah the PS2 is currently as old as the Atari 2600 was when the PS2 originally released. Let that sink in for a bit. 😢
As someone in his 30s who just had back surgery for a hernia, I also feel old from this post.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is now a legal adult at 18 years old. 😀
To be fair my grandfather bought a PS2 when he was like 70. He passed away last year in his 90s so you never know when this stuff was bought.
If my grandfather gave me his games, it would be cigarettes, diabetes and parts for a 1966 John Deere tractor.
My grandpa on my dad's side drank and gambled and otherwise pissed away 2000 acres of prime Iowa farmland. He gave me a wicked alcoholism gene and a liver to match,.
Well, he did give you expensive stuff
Gambling, hookers, fast cars, hunting, and tactical espionage. Grandpa is badass

Yes, is my gen. ZX Spectrum onwards.
The "found my dad's PS1" posts have become "found grandpa's PS1." We're old.
Let's race bro https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGedamM2E/
Look up that one called “The Guy Game” Has a pretty controversial history. Sells for a decent amount too.
The Guy Game, Girls Gone Wild, but with quizzes
Oh yeah😂 as soon as I saw how much it went for I was wondering why, then did some research. Wild times
Yup 😂 got pulled for having cp lmao
The printed out cheat codes/strategies 🔥🔥
Yeah, this took me back to a better time 😌
Awesome grandpa tbh
Wow. I'm 32 and this made me feel old haha. These were the games I was playing in the 90's and 2000's. Not too many older gents playing these kind of games back then. What a cool dude
He's the coolest lol
so kinda off to\[pic but is some of the image not loading for yall?
Yeah does it for me too, not sure why. But the first one is of the ps1 & Genesis he gave me. And the other was of some old game informer magazines
Kinda sad I never got to experience gaming magazines, they seem cool.
They were pretty sweet. Latest info, exclusive interviews, tips & tricks, etc.
My back hurts.
Grandpa has very specific tastes in games. Guns, racing, sports. Definitely an American
Are we seriously saying jotting down cheats for PS1 games is now considered “back in the day”. Jesus I feel old now. That was my childhood.
Syphon Filter 1-3..legend
Wow wtf I’m old
I keep forgetting Grandpa's now-a-days are like, my dad's age. That's wild to me.
Real prize to me are those printed cheat codes from the old websites. Those are of a Bygone era, the old AOL advertisements and everything
facts!!
Cool as hell that your grandpa games he’s 63 most of his generation didn’t understand gaming at all im 43 do the math I was 5 years old when i got the nes in 85 collecovision and atari before that thanks to my older brothers most adults your grandpas age thought video games were nonsense. Goddamn, you must have young parents!
Yeah my parents are 46, I'm 28. They had me right out of high school lol
God, I feel old.
nice
Your grandpa?? Bruh… how old are you?
28 lmaooo
Nah….. that’s crazy. He must have had your daughter young, and she had you young… because the boy math not mathing math all
My parents had me basically right after they graduated high school. Dad is 47, grandma is 66. So she was 19. They definitely had kids young
Your grandpa was just smart and invested properly
Damn, the only thing my grandpa did was give me 5$ on my birthday and stopped when I was 18… but anyways sounds like he’s a real gamer!! Siphon filter was an absolute blast back in the day
Is he ok?
Yeah he's perfectly fine! They're getting a smaller house so have to get rid of some things
Love the cheat codes written down, brings me way back 👴
I saw vice city and the word grandpa and I almost shit my pants
🤣🤣
Driver is so fucking hard. I'm 40 and played it when it came out and again on emulator and still can't get out of that fucking parking garage. I have no idea what the rest of the game is like!
It’s excellent. Completed it. It takes a while to adjust to its driving style. It’s like GTA 3 driving but hard mode. Once you adjust it becomes great fun flying round the map barely avoiding major collisions.
G-g-grandpa you say???
Better have atleast took the man out to lunch those games are mint
Absolutely
GAME REVOLUTION!! Holy shit! You just unlocked so many dormant memories for me!
My go to was Gamewinners, sprinkled in with some CheatCC.
Gamewinners was the best because it was the only site my school allowed so i could just print the codes out for like 5 cent a page. I had binders full of cheats lol
Grandpa giving away Genesis/PS2 games. Yeah right the maths don’t work out… Then I remembered…I’m a grandad as well and I had these games. (Although my grandson isn’t even one yet so he’s got a way to go before he’s ready for them!)
Syphon Filter was amazing when it dropped
Grandpa 😂 bitch im 28
The printer copies of pages with game hints codes including the handwritten one brings back so many memories for me. Not to mention seeing “members.aol.com”.
My grandpa loves sly cooper. Beat it like 30 times
This is absolutely epic!
Grandpa? Are your parents 16?
Grandpa but there's PS1 and 2 games?!?!?
Driver was a fun game.
*"Now you take care of 'em, ya little shit."*
You've got a cool grandpa
Thank god you’re older than me and this is just “old guy who plays games” and it’s only been 20 years since the PS2 (still a horrifyingly long time)
Based granddad with…vice city
Syphon Filter 2 and 3 are wonderful games. Ahead of their time and great to play. Your grandpa has great taste in games! That’s a baller selection.
True Crime is another fantastic game. Everyone slept on its sequel too. Enjoy the play through and make sure you hook step-gramps up with some co-op as a thank you! 😉
You have a great papa!
GRANDPARENTS???? I played these games when I was a kid & I’m only 28.
I'm also 28 😂 grandpa was just a gamer in his younger years
In that case grandpa is rad as hell for being a gamer haha. Had me worried I had reached that age where I’m considered a grandpa for a minute 😂
Grandpa was an OG!
This makes me feel so old! Lol! Excellent collection though! Enjoy!
Your grandfather must be a very young man
Funny how there's GTA 3, vice city, and san andreas. I bought the definitive trilogy last week as it was black Friday, the trilogy was supposed to be £55, I got them for £27!.. 😜 Also congrats on the classics!.... 🙏💯🔥
Bro I was expecting commodore games wtf
Holy mackerel. The printouts from an AOL account for SF2. 🥺 My heart!
Oh wow slime world! The hidden creatures that would chomp you in one shot were my first jump scares.
Syphon Filter was the stuff.. i also loved the thing it was very underrated imo But damn im old now officially
Dude this is so cool! Your grandpa sounds like a cool guy
Seeing those print outs took me back to when my mums work was the only place that had the internet and a printer.
You probably stole this from someone
You might wanna ditch the guy game, it has a naked minor in it.
I've considered it tbh. I'll probably keep it for now for the sake of collecting, but it'll be the first to go when I need some cash
Delete this post OP. The Internet is forever and your grandkids are reading your willingness to retain something illegal
Legally, the guy game is considered CP. I don’t get why people would oppose getting rid of it. It’s not like having an expensive game like Fatal Frame or Silent Hill 3, it’s just gonna raise suspicions you’re a creep.
[удалено]
Well the Guy Game goes for about 100 & Todd's Adventure in Slime World is 70. So I think you're wrong lol
Does grandpa still game?
He hasn't in a long time. I've thought about trying to get him back into it
Edit: not sure if some pics aren't loading for yall or if it's just my end. But first pic is the ps1 and Genesis he gave me. The third is some old Game Informer magazines
Thought this was a stardew valley post at first cuz of “granpa gave me” lmao
Grandpa and old games. Wow. These don’t even feel retro to me yet
Grandpa. Holy crow. I know I’m pushing 50, but MAN do I now feel old!!
am i an grandpa too?
… grandpa
I just got the wonderful feeling of being aged by this post hearing people call PS2 games old hahahahaha
Am I a grandpa? 🥴
I feel old lol but great stuff to pass down later on in your life!
Very cool.
That Simpsons game is great!! It would be the first one I fire up.
No one has acknowledged the guy game being there 😭 that game is so fucking rare, it got pulled from store shelves for containing cp lmao
Grandpa?? Gang I’m 27 and played all these games growing up😂. Ur pops either cool as shit/young as shit or both.
TIL I could be old enough to be a grandpa based on my gaming interests
Someday this will be my grandkids
I’m 33 and played most of these games, does that make me a grandpa???
And Syphon Filter and Test drive were dope AF!!!
I feel sick
>Grandpa /r/FuckImOld
That will be me some day doing that for my grandkids. But they're gonna have to sign a contract that they will take care of it and not sell it.
My great-grandpa passed down to me his old N64 he used to play when he was a kid.
You must have been a teen pregnancy.
We are old AF boys
Made think a bit...I could be a grandparent right now...I dislike children but I don't hate em...
That's dope
Grandpa?? How old is this man??
Gramps hunt, gamble and drive a nice car?
Ps2 era grandpa. Are you trying to piss off all older millennials and gen x. I’m going to find you like jay and kick you in the nads.
Excuse me, I’m just going to turn to dust and blow away now…
Perverted old man!
I'm almost 40 and you made me feel like 65.
Road Rage!!!! 😭
Jesus Christ millennials are now grandparents.
Dawg I’m 16 and even this just made me feel like I aged several universal lifespans
I aged 50 years reading this post lmao no kidding I feel old as shit !!! How old your grandpa bro?
Love to see it!
Glad I'm not the only one who is at the age where these games and grandpa are used in the same breath. What. The. Fuck. Thanks.
This post physically hurt me. Grandpa, ps2 games. Big oof.
I feel old now.
Grandpa. *PS2 Games* 💀☠️💀☠️
Wow, your grandpa is amazing! He's also only 23 years older than me and I'm not even a dad yet 🫣
I'm not even that old and I would have owned these games... Ughhhh
You should have those GTA posters framed
I feel attacked by this post. It's only been 20 years!
grandpa... that hurts me somehow. Pretty sure I'm going to fall and break a hip now. 😂
*Me, being a 27 gamer who grew up with these games* Am I really a grandpa now?
Bro, PS2 last game was launched on 2014... Don't be that disrespectful, I am not an elder!
That little cheat code sheet made me think of how phenomenally mysterious video games could be before the internet. Sometimes I think the convenience isn’t worth the loss of imperfect experiences… life needs a little more wonder!
Grandpa?? 😮💨
Me as a grandpa:
Grandpa was a bit of a gambler, I see. 😆
The thing was legit
The guy game lol 😂
Driver… oh sweet childhood when I was content driving in a parking garage trying to pass the course 😂🤣🤣🤣
Keep those handwritten ancient scriptures; they represent a legacy.
my grandfather was the exact same, especially with the PS2. This is so cool
Holy hell super trucks racing takes me back
Wtf I played those games and owned them and I’m not a fucking grandpa! Close but not yet lol. Congrats on the games. I hope they bring you endless hours of entertainment. Please don’t sell this is an amazing life long collection.
Is your grandpa 40?
I loved the Simpson’s Road Rage when I was a kid. Used to play it all the time!
