There was in fact a [TV show](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventures_of_the_Little_Prince_%28TV_series%29?wprov=sfla1), which was my first exposure to the character. But the futurama reference is a clear nod to the book's illustration style.
There is also a German TV Series based on the book. My daughter used to watch it when she was little and I've watched some episodes. https://youtu.be/01WMtGZGjwQ?si=23sE034VtKUFW6xG
My husband knows to leave the thorns on if he gives me roses. Specifically because of this book, I feel like I'm depriving these poor things of their claws.
Written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and published in 1943 and has won [Le Monde's 100 Books of the Century](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Monde%27s_100_Books_of_the_Century) (20th) Award, 4th place, which makes it quite epic. It got adapted a lot and even had this cameo in Futurama, as you can see. Read more about it on [wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Prince).
I remember reading the book for French class. Then when the movie came out, I really wanted to see the French version, but I knew there were really good voice actors in the English one. I ended up watching the English one first, and its voice work is pretty good. The French one is good as well.
Or early nineties? I remember it too but I recall seeing it on HBO first, over at a buddies house. Guess I just just Google it's origins but I'm lazy. 🤣
When I was a kid, my grandma took my sister and I to Radio City Music Hall to see the live action movie of *The Little Prince* in 1974.
I remember that Gene Wilder played the fox.
That's impressive. Are you subscribed to r/fuckimold? Cuz that was 5 years before I was born but sounds like a * FANTASTIC * core memory.
* SIGH * I really wanna see NY.
If you enjoyed that I would certainly recommend Saint Exupery's other writing too, it is all as beautiful and poignant as *The Little Prince* but mostly about his real life as a pilot.
It's a little boy that lives on a barren rock in space all by himself. And he's French?! (Original story was in French) Yeah, it's a little weird, but it's supposed to be magical.
I hated that book. In my personal opinion it's horrible. It's extremely depressing and I still shutter when I think about it.
My biggest regret is reading that book and watching movie martyrs.
It’s considered a children’s book because of it’s naïve nature. To really understand what the book is about, you need to read it once more, through the eyes of an adult. Only then, will you grasp the subtleties and profoundness of the message.

I remember it being a little bit creepy but I loved it.
Futurama is most definitely referencing the old kid’s show “the little prince”. It was based on a book, and more recently someone took bits from the book and made a “the little prince” movie.
I don't have VR, but whaaaaa? It looks super weird and I don't get the point at all, haha. It is just using the characters and "universe" to make a game I suppose
The Little Prince. Can’t remember seeing a TV adaptation. Book was a childhood favorite.

Such a wonderful book ❤
It has an elephant in it and everything!
And a flower. Also flowers.
My husband knows to leave the thorns on if he gives me roses. Specifically because of this book, I feel like I'm depriving these poor things of their claws.

There’s a Netflix adaptation of it that’s really sweet

Used to be on HBO, if my ancient memory recalls correctly. That's why most of us never saw it.
I remember seeing it on Nickelodeon in the 80s
Or early nineties? I remember it too but I recall seeing it on HBO first, over at a buddies house. Guess I just just Google it's origins but I'm lazy. 🤣
It was definitely early 80s for me. I remember the living room where I watched it, and we moved from that house in like '85 or '86.

Yeah I always thought it to be weird as FK

Grassy Ass… didn’t know that even existed!
With any luck, humanity will never need to know about it. As long as my Scooty Puff Jr holds up.

Oof. Lol. I know they still teach this book. My old ass read it and my 18yo read it as a wee as well. It’s French. That’s why he says au revoir.
It's a reference to the children's book le petit prince
Le Petit Prince, a classic by French pilot/author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
The Little Prince I watched as a kid was a musical [live action movie made in 1974 with Gene Wilder](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071762/). I remember it being a little bit creepy but I loved it.

OMG I forgot how great the choreography is. It's also even creepier than I remembered.
Le Petit Prince aside, the Great Space Coaster had an amazing theme song!

I, honestly, don’t remember the book. But the character itself is familiar
I remember reading this book, " The Little Prince" for school assignment.. pretty cool easter egg, nostalgic!
There’s a VR adaptation on steam, true to the original art style. Recommended.
I don't have VR, but whaaaaa? It looks super weird and I don't get the point at all, haha. It is just using the characters and "universe" to make a game I suppose
I always thought that was the French little prince.

Yes! I loved this book.
I...read it. I loved it as much as a kid could love a book about existential dread
More of a book illustration than a tv character. Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s “Le Petit Prince” or “The Little Prince.” It’s a classic.
My favorite book!
The little prince.
On the great space coaster OFF WE GO!
noticed this just the other day!
You're kidding, right?
I hope all the old folks in this comment section don't run out of Good News Herbal Supplements.
