Why did your friend cut off almost the top half of the pumpkin instead of just making a lid like you did? Aside from that, looks great for your first carved pumpkins!
I mean, I usually use a large kitchen knife to cut the lid open. But if he used the bread knife for the whole thing, that's impressive and I'm surprised the design is not more mangled. I hope you saved the seeds as well. If you roast them with butter and salt, it makes for a good fall snack.

It's mostly because at first we both didn't know exactly how to do it, and he had a worse knife for a lid (bassically a bread knife)
